Hi Ed's

Is it true that Everton are looking to sign Santiago Arias in the summer, and would that mean they might be open to a bid from MU for Coleman?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Hi all,
Eds, thanks as always for the site. Ed002, I noticed you asked for a reminder today about giving some ideas of Summer transfer targets, well please consider this a reminder my friend!
Look forward as always to reading your post!

{Ed002's Note - Thanks for the reminder.

GK: If De Gea goes perhaps Krul or Handanovic will be added.

RB: Coleman would be expensive and remains "not for sale". Perhaps Clyne would be a better option. Perhaps Alves.

CB: Mats Hummels remains the primary target, if available. The summer iscertainly realistic, particularly given the Champions League situation. Garay could certainly be an option for the summer - he will be leaving Zenit. Alternatively, Godin or Howedes if available but I doubt a first choice. Virgil van Dijk has been looked at but there is interest from elsewhere and I cannot see him sitting on the bench. Miranda - only makes sense at a much, much lower fee. Terence Kongolo is of growing interest to both Manchester clubs and Southampton. Tyrone Mings has been looked at but remains one for the future and with Rojo and Shaw seems an unlkikely choice. Otamendi was of interest to Barcelona, Zenit, Chelsea, Napoli, Manchester City and CSKA before a move to Valencia in January 2014 and a subsequent loan to Atlético Mineiro. As Otamendi has only effectively been playing in Spain since August 2014 a move in January was unlikely - but he was of interest.

DM: Strootman has been injured for a while but he remains a target the summer. Vidal is due to be sold in the summer and might be an option. Carvalho remains a player that both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in and his situation remains the same. He is for sale, but the asking price would need to come down to make any move possible. Previous interest from Monaco, Inter, Chelsea and Juventus has gone because of the price. Nainggolan might be an option.

W: Depay is still not really ready for the EPL at this time but I suspect Manchester United will look to making an offer. Gaitan is certainly an option.}

FW: Santos' Gabriel Barbosa continues to be of interest to Chelsea, Fiorentina and Manchester United. However, much is expected of him and there is an agreement between Santos and Barcelona that will be exercised in 2016 if he does not beforehand. Do not be surprised by a bid for Benzema. Cavani is being offered around the clubs who have previously shown an interest. The club continues to look at other options as well. Inter, Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Fluminense's Kenedy but he is far from ready for the EPL right now.}

Thanks ed.

That makes for very pleasant reading. I would love to see get Hummels, Clyne, Vidal, Depay, Gaitan and Cavani/Benzema with RVP, Falcao, Valencia, Nani and Evans leaving the club to make room.

We have been linked with Gaitan for so long that it would be good to have him to see what he can do and how well he links up with Di Maria. I suspect he may be a replacement for Mata.

Thanks Ed for your opinions.
I think this year will be as much about outgoings (even manager) as incomming.
We will need to balance the books on wages as the Eds have explained many times which could mean that we need to do as Chelsea have done and sell before we buy. On that front I can imagine a scenario where we release some big players (Mata, RVP, ADM) in order to get others in that give us better balance and take the team forward.

{Ed004's Note - I don't think it will be too hard to balance our books. Evans, Nani, RVP, Falcao, Rafael :(, Anderson, Hernandez and Mata could all be potentially leaving. Could raise a bit of money on those sales as well}

Right Ed. I think we would find it difficult to offload Nani and RVP though due to other clubs not wanting to meet their cur wages/wage demands?
