Fryer's is def off (Spurs), Nani is close to going too (no idea where but Juve were interested).......... Surely another one's arriving? No idea who though. Im actually happy with Nani leaving as long as we get a quality centre mid in. Nani as great as he can be is just too inconsistent and I think Young offers more in terms of tracking back not just attacking. That said I can't stand his perpetual diving. Fryer's I didn't rate all that highly, yes good but nothing more (I understand he will improve but not to Manchester United standards) p.s Told you 'arry was leaving spurs.

United Till I Die 1987

Believable8 Unbelievable20

Sir Alex is reportedly introducing more pace to our team I don't see how replacing Nani with some of the players mentioned will appeal to the boss if we're signing Bale which were not then fine but all the talk of Rodriguez gaitan etc signing will only do what Liverpool have done replace quality with average be patient sir Alex will do the business

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani is better than Young in defense, he's stronger and doesn't get pushed off the ball. Young dives to counteract his blatant lack of strength-he needs to do some strength work, but I fear he won't.

I'm not bothered about fanning the perpetual Nani debate, I just don't see anyone else out there any better. And I see Nani improving rapidly, and he has a good attitude to keep on improving.

DodgyBanter

Agree0 Disagree0

If Nani is sold we need another winger and a good one at that. Which is the reason I think we should probably keep him. The grass isn't always greener

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't say Nani was off for sure, I said he's close to leaving, as he has been before when United tried to sell him to Benfica plus cash in excahnge for Angel Di Maria.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell him and get a left winger with a left foot ffs so we have the same down the left as wot we do down the right with toni

Hey Ed, is it true that Zeki Fryers is going to be sold?

Robert De Niro Fan. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Sorry.}

Believable7 Unbelievable9

It is pretty well known around Carrington amongst the older folk that Zeki has chosen to join Spurs. United are not that fussed about letting him go either so I hear. He will be joining his bessy mate Ravel in London Town. He will be available on a free, but we will get some compensation for him, a nominal amount.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Overrated never a first team regular watched him since he joined the academy good job he's got pace technically lacking.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to be honest, this isn't sour grapes, I watched him a couple of times last year and I can't say I was massively impressed, don't get me wrong, he's not a bad player but think people are jumping on the fact he's another youth product who we can't keep hold of.

Look at the bigger picture, Morrison left because SAF had had enough of his attitude and has been proven right so far.

Pogba, well, he's a talent but I think he will regret leaving.

Fryers, well I've had my say on him at the start of this post.

I think people need to stop worrying about us ''losing'' youth products, 3 players who seem to all have a chip on their shoulder.

Pettrucci looks like he'll sign a deal, Tunncliffe said he'd sign whatever United put in front of him, Blackett I believe is a better talent at LB then Fryers, and then we have Keane twins, and Barmby and co.

It's not a case of not keeping our best youth players, I think we are, we're letting go the ego's!

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it not a worry though that we keep losing all these youth players? Ok its for different reasons, but that'll make Morrison, Fryers and possibly Pogba and maybe even Petrucci. Ok there's always a good chance of the foreign lads doing one, after all they've done it once to come here or could homesick or whatever. But the likes of Morrison and Fryers are local lads and if they are jumping ship for whatever reason what does that say. Ok they may have attitude problems and the rest but Fryers looked decent to me in his first team appearances. And Morrison was a shgame how it ended up. Ok maybe he had to go in the end but still losing 4 youth players in 6 months is a bad thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many of our Youth players end up as 1st team regulars? Fact is 90% never make it to the 1st team ,Pogba is a miss perhaps the others I couldn't give a toss about and Morrison well a right dinlo we are better off without

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest, how many youth players make it and turn into massive talents at the club, not many. Have we had any top quality players since the Beckhams, Butt, Giggs, Scholes, Nevilles youth side? As unless I am missing somebody I canonly think of the likes of O'Shea, Brown, Evans and Welbeck in the last 10 years. Welbeck its too early to tell how good he will be but the others mentioned have all been good servants but not exactly game changers yet n doubt there have been 20/30 in that time labelled as the next best thing. We will only know how much of a loss losing these youth players will be in a few years when we see how they develop and nothin is better than seeing home grown players break through but it certainly isnt something to panick about I would say

Modric will join Madrid, United will bid 22 million for Sneijder.

Believable23 Unbelievable37

Source? I believe Modric may join Madrid, but where's the source that we are going to bid for Sneijder? Although I think Sneijder would be a great addition to the team, do you think we will be able to afford his high wage demands? I think £22 million may do it and that will great for our midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the injuries are behind him he would be a good signing for us, he makes things happen

sparkyred

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg please stop about sneijder, he is not coming. he turns 28 this year, we will not buy anyone over 27 years

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know we wont buy a player 27? we have bought players over 27 in the past, are you Sir Alex Ferguson?

Agree0 Disagree0

We just signed Kagawa who plays in Sneijders position..

Agree0 Disagree0

Now considering we're buying Kagawa, who also plays in that position, I find it strange that so many people still think we'll go for Sneijder.

M.D.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta say n i know how this sounds as i didn't believe it either but a guy who works at carrington had told a mate of mine that "the dutch mans coming" i thought possibly rvp but he recons he was referring to wesley? make of that what you will (probably not alot...)

Andyred

Agree0 Disagree0

^^It could be Kevin Strootman or Jetro Williems...

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be almost anyone in the dutch team apart from stekelenberg.

personally i hope its not sneijder sick to the back teeth of hearing about him.

One pass, in one game (which they lost) playing for the team that underperformed the most at the euro's and people are working themselves up into a frenzy.

Agree0 Disagree0

"The Dutch Mans Coming"?? Maybe he was just trying to scare him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he meant the duct man coming to fix the air con

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder will drop his wage demands, he has lost his love for Inter and does not feel that he will win major trophies in the next few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Dutchman is Coming? Who says it has to be a player? Hiddink anyone?
Mr Q

Agree0 Disagree0

I think sneijder would be a great addition to the squad, and dont forget, kagawa and him can play other positions, not just cam, i think signing him will allow us to play 4-2-3-1 with sneijder kagawa and nani/rooney playing off rooney/welbeck. also, i dont think anyone on here can say that sneijder is not a world class talent and would improve our squad hugely. and it may only have been one pass, but i dont think theres a united player with anywhere near the creativity he has. who cares if hes 28? means he should be in his prime, and could still play for 5 or 6 years! great player. Sign him up!

Agree0 Disagree0

Idiots !! sneijder is still in the top 3 best midfield players in the world sign him up fergie

Manchester United in for Nicolas Gaitan as Luka Modric eyes Real Madrid.

Believable21 Unbelievable28

Hope so

Agree0 Disagree0

We lose out on a midfielder so we go for a winger? Hmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

Plz go for modric

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted about this and got sh*t for it because he is supposedly not a winger... Well he can play both positions. People who say he is only a winger have probably never seen him play and are most likely basing there decisions on FIFA 12

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

Nico guitan sign him same type a player as silva but better would play him central bye the way just heard from my mate who lives close to old trafford he said united are after in talks with alaba of b munich hope so can play anywhere but a classy left back watch this space

Agree0 Disagree0

Fearny

Doesn't Gaitan play either as a LW or LAM or CAM? (I've only seen him play on the left tbh). The reason I ask is Modric plays as one of 2 CM'ers whereas someone like Kagawa would play CAM in front of him. Are you saying Gaitan could play as one of the 2 CM'ers?

Thanks (I assume you've seen more of him than the little I have)

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Modric go to RM when they are heavily linked to David Silva?

Talk in the last couple hours that Man Utd were in fact in contact with James Rodriguez just at the end of the past season. Talks were dropped/Put on hold whilst Rodriguez wanted to focus on the World Cup qualifiers that have just taken place. One thing I have heard about the contact between both parties is that Rodriguez would be delighted to move to Old Trafford and that it would be an honour to wear the Red of Manchester.

Talks are set to continue if we cannot agree a contract with Nani when he returns from Euro 2012. I believe however that it will cost us closer to £30 million pounds as Porto would want it to be close to the £38.5 million buy out clause in his current contract.

fearny

Believable21 Unbelievable14

We need to insist that Andersons release clause is £39 million!A swap with £1 million should do it?

Agree0 Disagree0

You my friend are talking total BS.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were selling Nani to buy Rodriguez I would like to see a good £10m profit between the 2 deals tbh, as Nani has greater experience, has already played in the Prem and has been an important player for his international side for years. I cant see us getting more than £30m for Nani, if that, so I wouldn't want us to pay much more than £20m for Rodriquez if that makes sense

If we were to sell Nani and buy Rod for a similar amount I don't see that as 'good business'

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be a good signing in the eyes of anyone who knows his game well enough. However i think it's more likely he'll stay at Porto til next summer when we could replace Giggsy on the wage bill once he hangs up his boots.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you just read that on Daily Mail as well? Those journalists just make up crap for fun. He Would be a good signing though!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there's some legs in this one and would obviously be delighted to see Rodriguez at United.

There had been talk about us bidding £23m plus Anderson. Whilst I dont think that will be enough to land him a player plus cash deal will always allow a bit more leeway in terms of 'activating' a buy-out clause. If the player wants to go and the selling club are getting a decent chunk of change plus a player too it may be enough for Porto to agree to.

Other teams will be surely interested though always impresses me when there's talk of players being honoured / proud / happy to be linked with playing for us.

Never got the latter from Hazard did we!!

Manchester United monitoring Ukrainian Yevhen Konoplyanka. He played against England last night, seems very skillfull on the ball as well.

Believable10 Unbelievable26

Don't come on here saying we're after someone just because you saw him at the Euros and he looked good.

Fergie isn't the type to get exited and buy a player just because of a few good performances at a tournament. at most it'll make him have someone watch the player next season to see what they'r like in normal week-in week-out football.

Thorne

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds more like you hope we are looking at him.

I think most of the Ukraine players impressed against an average England side last night.

Mad Hatter

Agree0 Disagree0

They are just monitoring him, not actually showing an interest in him. {Ed002's Note - THis is whilst he is on vacation I assume?}

*REDPOLTERGEIST {Ed002's Note - As far as we are aware there has been no interest in Narsingh from anyone other than Ajax and Fulham. His agent has been hawking him around Italy with Bologna, Genoa and Fiorentina being approached.}

From what ive seen on youtube(i know never seen him play proper) but he looks a good young talent would be a good signing for cheap

I did attach the link but mustn't have worked- again i got this only through the internet, I don't have any sources or claim to know SAF dog walker ;)

Could be true with Modric heavily linked with RM, after the WS euro performances I would love him at the club!

Giants14

Agree0 Disagree0

After his Euro's performance!! WHAT, are you mad? he was no better than average at the Euro's, in fact if I'd go as far to say that 75% of all midfielders performed better than he did at the Euros!
Anyway more to the point, the WS rumour is old news, get over it!

Sydney's Mother!

Agree0 Disagree0

Momma, is that really you?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree sneijder would be a great signing i thought he played well for someone in a struggling unorganised dutch side, would have liked to see strootman but unfortunately to family connections didnt get a starting place !!

sparkyred

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds more than possible, spurs weren't keen on him joining another prem team end of the seaon before n they could maybe get a player in the mix??

andyred

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Sneijder be back up to Modric?
We've just bought Kagawa to play "the number 10 role" presumably.
Modric and Sneijder are totally different players and play toally different roles for their teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ Syd's Mother!

Seriously?! I thought Sneijder performed very well in the first 2 games which was magnified by the fact that all his team-mates were playing as individuals, whilst he tried to get on the ball and find one of them continuously. I thought during spells his through balls/switches/diagonal crosses were out of this world and could only be matched by the likes of Iniesta. The number of times he dropped the ball on the head or toe of a striker from 30+ yards was scarily good. He also worked hard for his team in tracking players, which you don't always get from flair players (ahem...Robben). Sure the 3rd game he didn't do much but you cannot judge him on that as it was probably the worst team performance I've seen from a top team in ages

BTW - I don't want us to sign Sneijder! Just don't understand WHY you thought he was worse than average?

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

"Modric and Sneijder are totally different players and play toally different roles for their teams"

I agree mate it seems obvious to me. For some reason many on this site don't 'get' what positions they play or they think that we will spend silly money on Sneijder then 'mold' him into a deep lying player. Not sure why, when his strength is in causing mayhem around the opposition's 18 yard box as an attacking midfielder?

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Just want to say Sneijder was good at the EURO's. He thrives on an international stage and was probably Hollands only performing player.

But to the point of this post, i don't see how considering Modric is a Centre mid and can act and would act as a deep lying playmaker if he were to move to United. Sneijder on the other hand is a more advanced midfielder who can't really and doesn't like defending/sitting deep at any point during a game. He's definitely got the talent of Luka and only a year older BUT the position he plays has already been filled by the Super Shinji.

Wouldn't surprise me if United enquired about a player such as De Rossi, who can attack and defend but prefers the latter of the two.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

What did i say :P

Next day De Rossi comes out to the media saying he's received several offers from england. While we don't know United are a certainty, there aren't many clubs that can afford him apart from City and Chelsea so..

How impressive was Yarmelenko last night.

He had Parker crawling at one point.

Does anyone think that he could be on Saf's radar or any other EPL teams radar?

Cban {Ed002's Note - Napoli are well placed to take him right now. But Palermo, PSG and AC Milan are also showing an interest.}

Do you work for newcastle shappy?

cban

Agree0 Disagree0

He was quality although i thought that konoplyanka was even better
Cheeks

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't all that impressed with Yarmolenko last night, he bottled a lot of his chances. Konoplyanka looks an amazing prospect though, he does have a Messi-esque control of the ball. Decision making though, takes about half an hour to pick the simple pass out that was on when he first recieved the ball. I think they both are a bit rough round the edges but have all the raw materials to develop in to two very good players.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Yarmolenko did miss a few chances last night but I was still impressed with his overall play. I also think he looked v good in the 1st group game. I admire his silky left foot, his ability to come inside or stay wide and the fact he always provided a dependable out ball for Ukraine. He seems to make the right decision more often than not too

I can see him going on to be a real top player but I doubt that will be at our club

One of the earlier posts about the abundance of midfielders at Real Madrid, got me thinking about a player I hadn't heard of for a while.

While many would love to see Sahin come to United (including me), I had sort of forgotten about Fernando Gago.

Still only 26, European experience at a top club, a player with a bit of steel about him, decent passer - he might be able to offer us a bit of value for money, with Real possibly looking to offload.

Only throwing it out there for discussion - no idea if he's even on our radar - (doubtful) and curious to see if anyone else rates him. I know he's by no means a world beater, but could be a decent shout to strengthen the squad.

CalamityManc!

Rumour = Information
Banter = Everything else

M.D.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haven't seen Gago play in a while tbh but if we buy someone in that position he would be taking Carrick's place so would need to show a notable improvement on him to our team. I'm not sure that he would be good enough to do so (from memory) and I wouldn't want to get him as a squad player

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmmm....Don't know now if so many people are disagreeing with me because they don't rate him, or they don't believe it as a rumour??
This is not info, it was meant for the banter page! :)

StevieK

Agree0 Disagree0

How does buying players not good enough for our competition help us? We already have a large squad. We either need to buy for the Starting XI or not at all! Gago? No thanks....

Agree0 Disagree0

Well he's good enough to have made a career at Real, and he's a regular in his national squad, and a bloody good nation at that - more than can be said for most in the centre of our midfield at the minute - how would he not give any of them competition?
