I think we should sign a majestic amateur left winger called DB-Red.

DB-Red {Ed004's Note - I heard he is sh*t}

Believable8 Unbelievable8

But he does have 2 left feet so would be a natural on the LW.... :-)
HERBIE {Ed004's Note - Couldn't be much worse than Young. As long as he doesn't stop trying when the game gets rough}

Agree0 Disagree0

We could try Berba there?

I read an interesting, if unsurprising, stat yesterday - Ji Sung Park's last 10 starts have seen United lose 8 times. Which means since the 6-1 debacle, United have only lost when Park has started.

Matthew...

Believable34 Unbelievable1

I like the guy, he gives us all, but i do think he needs to be on the out list this summer. Thanks and good luck. Mort.

Agree0 Disagree0

God a can't stand him! Hope he's shown the door! He was poor against bilbo! Yes he runs alot, but creates nothing and always gives the ball away!

Agree0 Disagree0

I swear he scores more than he creates :s And im not trying to say he scores alot lol..
Yh he's no where near the player he used to b for us!
Mabzinho

Agree0 Disagree0

I love this guy, gives 100% for the red shirt every time he wears it n he wears it with such pride but he has been utter dross this season n a good engine n running about like a headless chicken is not what we need. good luck park where ever you go n i love you.... Andyred

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair Park himself had concerns he could keep playing at the level of last season. He said last summer that he could leave this summer, then the club sign him up for a couple years. His contract runs out 2013, so it's highly likely he will be leaving this summer. This way the club will get a couple mil for him. Look at the evidence, Park has been bit-part used like Berbatov. Owen cannot stay fit for half an hour. Kiko was shoved out on loan because no one would buy him, as was De Laet. Gibson was left home for the preseason tour, as was Kuszczak, Gibson sold, Kuszczak gone in the summer. It's obvious who is leaving. Anderson is a hard one because I am sure the manager likes him, but he is always injured.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

He was only ever able to just 'do a job'. This season I dont think he's even been able to do that.
He needs to go to a league that plays with lighter footballs. That way he wont fall over every time he kicks or controls the thing.
I respect the guy for being happy with being a decent substitute in the past but the time has come for him to leave.
Dingle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd i think thats why Anderson is the hard one, as he's hardly ever on the pitch enough to make a judgement, yet at the end of last season and start of this one he started showing a return to form. Maybe he needs to take up yoga?

Well Gibbo's gone, Kuszczak is going, as is Berbatov. I can see Park going. Not sure who would want to buy Macheda. Owen i can see somehow getting another extension.

Any ideas on what sort of wage saving we'd make with Berb, Park, Kuszczak all gone? Mort

Agree0 Disagree0

Last year apparently to the papers Fergie was offerinig him a 3 year contract but he refused as he didn't think he could play that long at this level. At least hes honest and a true gent to the end as he is passed it which is a quite shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Mort'

I imagine around £140k a week (£80k/£30k/£30k)

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Park may be on the losing side but it just so happens to coincide with times that Fergie has chosen to rotate the squad. Park plays when some of the big players are being rested. This is generally when we lose. Other times Fergie put him in midfiled when he doesn;t play there and hasn't been playing all season. The same can probably be said about several other playersthis season. That said if we are to be challenging for honours after this year he needs replacing

Agree0 Disagree0

Not bad then, adds to the pot for signings. Cheers Mort

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to admit myself to not being a massive fan. But before we go selling a guy who is happy to be a squad player which we need and having a number of youngsters coming through I could see him doing another year.

Can't re,emer how many years ago it was but I remember Higgs had 1 terrible season and everyone was saying he should retire. I obviously wouldn't put the two in the same category quality wise. But maybe something to think about before we push him out the door.

There's also the commercial ramifications. Park is practically second only to God in Korea, depending on how we handle him and his potential departure this could have a Massive impact on revenue from there. I can quite easily see us holding onto him till he asks to go back to Korea so as not too endanger our reputation, popularity and revenue. I would guess he more than pays his wages!

Red Bear {Ed004's Note - Or we could sign someone like Honda ;)...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats because he's an average footballer who's past it (wath him score the next time he plays lol). Was a good squad player to havea couple of years ago but now time to get rid.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
berba is on 100k syd park is on 65 k

Agree0 Disagree0

Park...absolute dross!!
Im not taking away his 100% commitment that he shows every game but apart from that he's a waste of time

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

We have to agree Park gives 110% every game he plays but he is not simply good enough for a club like utd.I think he must go out for players like brady and others to come through.but the only reason he might be kept is shirt sales.

some talks around the club suggests that we are going to sign 2 defender ,mostly full-back, 1 enforcer midfielder, and a couple of young procpects. targets r not fully identified.. but sort listed. finalised till may-june so can join preseason friendly.. hazard has bn some exceptional case..SAF is waiting on him..

Ed's,

Does anyone have an update on the Pogba contract situation please?

I know it's a boring topic but first he was defo leaving, then he got back in the squad and things were looking positive for him staying and now today I read he's defo signing for Juventus?

I appreciate the Italian papers are reporting he's signed so not to take it as gospel but his whole situation has gone quiet again?

Ports

Believable12 Unbelievable0

I personally believe he hasn't made up his mind yet and that the recent game time he's been getting is trying to convince him to stay. Matt

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Matt to an extent, think he's getting a run in the first team to see how well he does. SAF clearly thought before he wasn't good enough/ready for the first team. Maybe now it's like some sort of trial? If he does well and impresses then i'm sure he'll stay if he doesn't do well and SAF thinks he still is not ready then he'll be off to Juve who are waiting at the door..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald I dont think its SAF deciding whether he stays or not, it is Pogba and his agent who hold all the cards

SAF knows full well what a prospect Pogba is. He has left him out at times this season due to a refusal to sign for us, he wanted to show who's boss.

But then when the Juve story broke I think SAF saw his last chance to keep hold of him by playing him as much as poss. He's been 1st sub on the last 2/3 games

I really hoped he would sign soon after coming on against WBA tbh but the quietness since then is making me weary - surely he is still deliberating over United/Juve or even holding out for better offers?

Fingers crossed he'll see sense and sign for us soon!

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope so.... But Im also getting worried about the lack of news. Can't help feeling he's gonna wait.... Then leave.

I really hope not but if his agent has any say he will be off.

Fooking hate agents!

Agree0 Disagree0

My personal take on it is... Eds or anyone know if he has signed a pre-contract with Juve would UTD know about it?
If he had signed for Juve then SAF wouldn't give him game time

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Think this Pogba thinks he is a star and ferguson thinks he is on his way of being one

I don't rate him much

About his position, I heard he will be at Juventus next year

Hope we start talking about more serious signings cos we need players that can get into the game easily not nursing

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont know what all the fuss is about, he will just be a squad player for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Gav' I never said it was SAF who was going to be making the final decision. When i said trial i meant like a taster, basically if he enjoys it and does well HE will choose to stay, but if he doesn't do well enough clearly SAF wont want to play him much yet because he'd think he's not ready in which case he'll leave for juve because he thinks he is good enough to step up!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a story out there which details what Juve have offered.

Sources in Italy have told that Juventus have mapped out their specific plan for Pogba, which would involve him starting off with the youth team and then being promoted to the first team if his progress satisfies the coaching staff.

It can also be revealed that Juve will include the provision for Pogba to go out on loan to a Serie B club to further his development if this is requested by coach Antonio Conte and youth-team boss Marco Baroni.

I'm not sure why Pogba would want to go to another club, only to have to prove himself when he is on the fringes of 1st team football at Utd

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that a couple of reports today have confirmed the avenue that SAF is trying to go down.. Berbatov's agent has said that SAF has told him that Berbatov can leave because he is 'too slow' for the type of football we are looking to pursue.

Obviously this will affect who we will sign, out of the players that we have been linked with, who do you think fits the mould for this new brand of football. If we are sticking with a system with wingers then Bale has to be a target for one, who in the center though fits the mould?

RedDevil19

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Definitely Hazard...And Martinez may be...
Also 1 Young Spanish LB..

MD_11

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this mean i can celebrate the departure of carrik( spell) ?? slow wood,, constant back passer... sometimes giving dangerous possessions away..?? fit the bill of departures isnt it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps you haven't noticed, we already have a bag full of wingers.
I'm sure blowing another ott Spurs valuation on a player we don't need is sound business strategy. On Football Manager maybe.
But in the real world.....why they devil would we want another winger?
We NEED a DM, RB cover and that's it.
If Pogba quits then i'd say buy another CM, but if he doesn't, why cramp future development with unnecessary buys?
I know it's tempting (apparently) to throw the whole team away every summer and start again, but we're not The Massive.
Bale is such a tabloid superstar. They love to build him up everytime he beats a man, or gets a cross past the first defender, but he will bring nothing to our squad that we don't already have. Nothing.
We don't need to blow hundreds of millions on flavour of the month players who don't add anything.
Who in the centre? Scholes, Clevs, Pogba, Carrick, Anderson to name a few.
Let me guess you'd like an overpriced Sneijder? to go with the unnecessary Bale? Maybe we could pay double OTT money and get the lightweight and inconsistent Modric too.
What a team, what a team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloke above has no idea, what united fan wouldn't have bale and modric??

Agree0 Disagree0

This united fan wouldnt want modric.one of the most overrated players in the prem, bale I reckon would be a good signing but we aint got unlimited funds and neither perform consistently enough to warrant the £25m + price tags n £100k a wk wages theyd command.
hazard definately and mvilla for me and I think a defender who can dominate in the air, maybe vertonghen(who cn also play dm) or subotic.

Agree0 Disagree0

The kind of United fan that can think for himself, sir.
Bale is extremely over rated. He had a handfull of reasonable games last season, the best (half of a) match he had was vs Inter. And he is still dining out on that 45 minute display. He's "ok".....thats about it.
Wouldn't swap him for any of our wingers.
I don't get the hype around him at all mate. I've been waiting to see him go since Spurs bought him and frankly, i'm still waiting. Might dazzle for a moment or two, but not got the right stuff, for us.
Modric..decent on his day, is he any more consistent than what we have now? (If anyone can shed any light on that, i'd appreciate it) I might be wrong, i'll hold my hands up if i am, but i'd take the one's i mentioned before Modric. Even a dappy Carrick, on his day, is a bloody good player. Everyone wants him out though.
If we buy one or both and i'm proved to be wrong, fair enough, but i think those two players, and most of the players we're linked with, are not the answer to the problems we have at the moment.
If we spend, i hope to god we spend it in the right areas. {Ed004's Note - I think you are underrating both players. Bale isn't as good as he is made out to be but he is an exceptionally good player. Modric is one of the best if not the best premiership midfielder.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough fellas.
I think it's fair to say then that if both of those players are as good as you guys, and many others, say they are then we probably won't be shopping in that price bracket anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

What we need in the team are 2 midfielders why are we trying to change and deviate from this urgency?
Berba for me can't play the game of long balls, which can't be played all 90'

need to LEARN the passing game if we want to compete especially in C.L. etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me modric doesnt create enough assists n contribute enough goals from midfield to be valued so highly.we certainly need to add creativity to the midfield but I think there are cheaper options who could add as much to our squad as £30m modric would.like I said in my earlier post I think a dominant centre back is a must cos since vidic has been out weve had nobody who dominates in the air

baby faced assasin

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to agree baby face assassin, modric is hugely overrated, not enough assists or goals for him to be rated as even close to being one of the best in the premiership.as for Bale I think he can be inconsistant but Has the ability to get a goal or create something out of nothing when he's in the mood.
IMO I think we need a lb and rb.i seriously think Patrice Evra needs good competition for his place because he has become complacent.he can be one of the best wing backs in the world going forward but for me he cannot defend or just doesn't want to.
As for cb I think stalling has the potential to be a great ball winner as does jones, but if they are to the future they need time to gel in there.
I also feel we need two midfielders.with ando out injured constantly, carrick far too slow, doesn't move the ball quick enough and just cannot defend or do much at all really.scholes at a career end and unable to play full 90 week in week out, same goes for park n Giggs whom are Not in effect Cm's in the first place.cleverly has potential as does pogba but lack real premiership and European experience and would be shown a lesson against quality European opposition such as real Madrid or barca.
Now with Berba, and Owen supposedly going in summer I also think we are going to need an out n out goalscorer, like van nistlerooy mould but with a bit more pace.maybe higuain?

SuperRed

Agree0 Disagree0

SuperRed
think youve got it spot on.evra has been awful defensively this season and definately needs quality competition.we need to decide what jones best position is and play him there.
I agree we need 2 quality midfielders,a creative one and a strong ball winner cos weve been bullied in midfield many times this season.i think if we added hazard n mvilla to cleverly, pogba, anderson n carrick wed have a quality midfield squad.not sure wed get them but theyr the type we should be going for.as for full backs I cant think of many tht would be available

Baby faced assasin

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric is overrated not strong enough on the ball cant shoot still a class act. As for bale SAF would surely get the best out of him and develop the tallent he has in abundence the speed he has is unreal under SAF could be the player people make out he already is

Agree0 Disagree0

Midrib is class lads he might not get many assist but he is the player that creates the pass for the player to get an assist look at stats last two years attacks stRted from him ground covered and passes in premiership tell me who is better

Agree0 Disagree0

Passes and ground covered dont warrant a £30m price tag and £100k a week wages.didnt swanseas leon britton make the most passes in europe at one point earlier in the season? And park covers a lot of ground but you wouldnt want a midfield of britton n park would you? Im not saying hes not a good player but is modric the best we could get for the fee n wages wed have to pay? Imo no he isn't

I see we've signed Pierluigi Gollini from Fiorentina - apparently made his debut yesterday in goal for the U18s

I think we SAF should have a look at Steve Mandandas situation at Marsellie. He said on sky sports that he would only leave for the prem. David De Gea Is becoming a gr8 keeper. Mandanda would class for united. De GEA and Mandanda as our keepers. WOW.

Who agrees with me

Kaylem1300

Believable4 Unbelievable35

Yes he is a great keeper but whats the point ? De Gea and Lindergard are two very good keepers it wouldnt be fair on either of them +Mandanda would cost alot because hes what 23-24.

L.A.7

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry Kaylem1300, I don't agree.

Mandanda is a good GK but with De Gea as No. 1 and Lindegaard as No. 2 and then Amos and Johnstone coming through and if the rumour above is correct about Gollini then why waste funds and a wage on Mandanda when there is other areas we need to focus on first? I think for the first time in a long time we are strong in our GK area in terms of cover.

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

No need for another keeper, De Gea and Lindergaard are class

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we need another keeper?we have de gea, lindegaard, amos and sam johnstone, mandanda would not improve what we already have.

phil

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you ever heard of Lindegaard?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mandanda was awful against us in the CL last season. Why would peeps be looking at keepers? We have DDG & Lindegaard.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lindegard isnt as good as mandanda. Mnadand has been quality this kepping 15 cleansheets. De gea and lindergard havent that many put together KAYLEM1300

Chinese outfit Guizhou Renhe have confirmed their interest in signing Rio Ferdinand.

Believable12 Unbelievable5

The MLS want Rio too, he said he will decide his future in the summer. I think we will see us linked to many centre-backs between now and the summer. At 33 and with back issues we could probably get £5m or so for him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think SAF would encourage Rio, he could earn enough to live an amazing lifestyle for the rest of his life after football for only a few years work.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see him going to either america or china to improve his 'brand' and enterprises and to try and give them a bigger global appeal. Esp when you consider his mounting injuries and the physicality of the EPL, rio is still a top defender and would look even better (and for longer) against the poorer quality teams abroad
Cobain famously said 'its better to burn out than fade away' and i think all would agree that we do not want rio to stay on and potentially suffer the indignity of staying on too long.

who keeps putting up jordan rhodes for a signing? Wouldn't say anything if he was seventeen or eighteen but not at twenty three. You'd seriously block will keane with a division three striker? you must be either family or his girlfriend. You know the games up if we start signing third division players. Worst rumour since matt tubbs.

Believable20 Unbelievable7

What difference does it make if he's eighteen or twenty three.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was one of our loan players who had knocked in that many goals in that division i bet you'd be crying out for him to be put in the first team squad.
Andy b

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually I wouldn't be "crying out for him to be put in the first team" as you so eloquently put it BECAUSE ITS THE 3RD DIVISION!!

If he was one of our loanees i'd say "well done, now have a loan at Championship club and show me you can do it at a higher level, then go to a Prem club and do it there!

As he's not one of our loanees there's nothing to say, there's more chance of resigning Tevez!

Apparently Barcelona want De Silva twins. Don't believe it myself but i'd snatch their hands off if they came in with a good offer.

Believable16 Unbelievable18

This rumour has been around for awhile, Barca dont need them, they have Alves, abidal, adriano, montoya and maybe next year Jordi Alba, so i see no truth in these rumours, also they have been using a back 3 tis season so would be alot of defenders sat around.

i think we should buy jordan rhodes in summer.

Believable6 Unbelievable43

What based of the fact he can score goals in league 1 ? Take connor wickham for example did well in the championship scored afew goals sunderland bought him and his done nothing but get injured, i think he will go to a lower in the table side or a side who will get promoted.

L.A.7

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's better than some of players fergursons bought in past.

Agree0 Disagree0

But its League 1 mate
i could score goals in league one.
Hes good dont get me wrong but at best hes Everton/Fulham quality.

L.A.7

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe L.A.7 doesn't understand potential.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have him at everton and he 21 as in a previouss post it said 23

Agree0 Disagree0

Anon

how in any way shape or form would buying Jordan Rhodes help us win in England and Europe ? we have Rooney,Welbeck,Hernandez as are top 3 strikers, buying rhodes would halt the "potential" that is will keane, maybe he will go on to he a world beater but i wouldnt put money on it.

L.A.7

Agree0 Disagree0

We signed smalling who was playing at a conference team? Ian Wright didnt play professionally until he was 22, you never know what players may blossom into if hes showed potential actually hes showed more than potential 33 goals in 32 games is amazing for a 22 year old.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Anon.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what your saying but, i score 30-40 goals a season for my local team in saturday league shouldnt i be playing in league 2 ? the gap between league 1 and the premiership is HUGE, all im saying isbif he was to go to a prem team i think it should be lowet in the table.

a new name in one of the rags today..

Miguel Perez Cuesta

m.ferguson was sent to watch him on saturday

does anyone know much about this player?

oxred

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Hes a 25year old winger from Rayo Vallecano his nickname is "Michu", scored 13goals i think the season but thats all i know on the player.

L.A.7

Agree0 Disagree0

Michu to his friends, left footed player, very strong on the ball. To match him to a British player - he is like Frank Lampard getting into the box and scoring goals, with tap-ins, headers and one on one with the keeper! Scored 13 this season for his Spanish side who sit 8th in the league. The only thing I doubt about him is his speed and the only thing I keep reading in the last 2-3 days is SAF is looking to input speed into his team and squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a attacking midfielder who has scored 13 goals so far this season .

Agree0 Disagree0

Your worried about his speed michu is a very fast player and very good finisher
