Ok, iv'e heard on good authority that we will TRY to sign Jack Rodwell in January. I have heard this from a source in which I am very confident with their judgement, and they called the Young and Jones transfers a couple of months in advance. Apparently we will offer £15 million at first with further incentives, but will not budge above the overall price of £25 million, which personally I think is too much.

Believable15 Unbelievable13

I 'unbelievabled' this because no one could've seen the Jones transfer coming, and no one on this site called it, so I'm not too sure of the existence of your 'source', and the fact you left your post nameless adds to my doubts. However, I do think Rodwell may be brought in during January! He seems the only realistic CM available in Jan that's not cup-tied.

#ags 19 {Ed001's Note - no one knew the Jones transfer to United would happen because Fergie only jumped in as he didn't want to miss out after Arsenal and Liverpool made him offers. It was a last minute move.}

I don't think Jack Rodwell is good enough, may be in the future, but we just need players like modric, martinez who are very good with the ball in the middle,m'villa to protect our back-four.

I am surprised people didn't read the story on how jones eventually signed for man utd. he tweeted on his page in march that he'd chosen manutd but liverpool and a host of other clubs still pursued him in the summer. he already had set his heart on old trafford, so it was inevitable sir alex would come in for him once liverpool started sniffing around. sir alex's plan was to wait another season before bringing him in, and that's why we ended up not signing a midfielder because the midfielder money was used to bring in jones.

If Rodwell can be bought for £15 million tops then fair enough, any more than that then I say no.... HERBIE

Rodwell for £25 million or Gortez for £25 million i know which one id prefer

Sincerely hope you are wrong poster

To the anon poster who compared Gotze to Rodwell at £25mil a piece, you are crazy if you think we could get Gotze at £25mil.

Messi at £4mil or Gibson at £4mil I know who I'd prefer.

Darren Gibson obviously, as we clearly have enough attackers!

says in a few papers this morning we could be offering everton 25m for rodwell, if this is the case then im slightly disappointed why spend 25m on him when we could spend it on m'villa, martinez or maybe even tempt arsenal with a 25m bid for RVP.

Believable7 Unbelievable22

Although RVP is 28, i doubt arsenal will want to sell him for 25m, yes it might be good business but look at the form he is in! And he's their captain, so i think it's pretty unrealistic! But i do agree with you, 25m for Rodwell isn't the most appealing deal to me at the moment. I honestly think we should put all forces that be, into getting Christian Eriksen he looks fantastic, just the kinda play we need in the middle of the field. He has so much flair and energy. Perfect partner for Cleverley!

Yeah 25 m for rodwell is way too much . He is young and has plenty of potential but he is far too injury prone. More likely it will be a 15-20 m + gibson or 15-20 m plus Macheda ( loan ) and diouf

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell has now made the step up into the England senior team so that translates in this country to MEGA £££. Him being English and a senior International means a price similar to how Andy Carrol was priced...

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy carrol was bought in the last 10 mins of the transfer window by a team that had just cashed 50 m for torres and that is notorious for paying too much on a player. I think that at best carrol deserved 20 million and if liver had the time they would have been able to get him for much less. + 15-20 m plus gibson ( 4 mil ) and macheda on loan ( 2m ) would be perfect for a team financially ruined ....

I guess but player + cash deals really are quite rare so dont assume that even if that was offered Gibson would agree/want to go there

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a everton season ticket holder and would be over the moon if we sold rodwell for £25 mill, he dosnt know how to go forward, hes a crab... I would like us to sign owen just to wind the others up across the park!

Agree0 Disagree0

We are definitely more likely to get Rodwell than Mario Goetze! Rodwell has been on SAF's 'Wanted List' for years. Now that he's made his senoir England debut, SAF may feel it's time to move. Mario Goetze will not join United especially in Jan. Arsenal are trying so hard to get him, but United as far as I know haven't made a formal inquiry.... Yet. Also read something about Higuan on here, very hard transfer to pull off. Quite a few clubs will be on red alert if he becomes available, can't see it myself, unless one of Rooney Berbatov or Hernandez are off?!

Look, do people know more than SAF?

Agree0 Disagree0

We might not know better than Ferguson but at the same time Fergie has made enough dubious signings over the years for us to question if a player is good enough or not....Bebe, Djemba Djemba, Kleberson etc.
