I've always admired Robin Van Persie great player pity about the injuries well SAF is looking to buy him £30m as a replacement for outgoing Macheda and Berbatov and Welbeck on loan

SSN reporting Alexis Sanchez real close to finalising Barca move, for a deal close to £45m including player and other variables. So please stop the "we still have a chance". Will be interesting to see if they still move for Fabregas or Rossi???
{Ed019's Note - Rossi's agent seems to think they've dropped their interest in him while Rossell has said they won't offer as much for Fabergas this season as they did last season (35 million I believe)

In the history of transfers at OT we either go all in after someone ie nistelrooy, yorke, Rooney, Ferdinand and make sure we get them or we go under the radar ie smalling, chicarito, Obertan, bebe.
With that in mind i think realistic targets are:
Rodwell, Snjieder, detour could be possibilities and others like:
Marvin Martin, witsel, wickham, lukaku, catermole, as surprise buys.

@So Berbatov (£15m) + Nani (£30m) + £40m cash for Sneijder who valued at (£30m) & Eto'o who is valued at (£15m). Don't you think we are over paying by giving them £40m cash?
I highly doubt Sneijder or Eto'o are on our list. Eto'o is past it. And Sneijder is approaching a dangerous age IMO. Players like J.Cole, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Maicon, Fabiano, Henry, Kaka and many more have dwindled out into mediocrity. They certainly all past their peaks around 27. I think paying £30m for a 27 year old is not wise, especially a player that is an engine in midfield who runs many miles in each game.
£30m fee plus 52m for wages is a massive gamble. Especially when it's possible we may have already seen the best of Sneidjer. If we are willing to pay those sums of money, then why not bid £25m for Goetze (19) and £25m for Hazard (20) and offer them modest wages of around 70k a week.

{Ed019's Note - it's just a rumour at the moment, no substantial evidence of a bid as of yet. However PSG were recently taken over so I wouldn't be surprised if they made an offer, I would hope we could get a pretty decent sum though considering they supposedly have money to burn.

All this speculation about Hazard is interesting, he'd be a great purchase but I think ed is right - Lille won't sell this year and he also doesn't do a lot of defensive work (which is one the of the things that really annoyed me about Nani, not getting back..).
I think we've still got a huge chance of signing Sanchez if SAF wants him enough.
But we only need one more midfielder really, with Young hopefully signing. Somebody said on here that Anderson, Carick and Fletcher aren't good enough for Europe. I agree with that for the first two perhaps but Fletcher is one of our best players. It's a real shame he's missed the champions league final two years running - i'm not saying it would've changed the result but that's a totally different game with Fletcher chasing up Xavi and Iniesta everytime they got the ball. De rossi would be perfect, what do you think Ed?
{Ed019's Note - I think Fletcher may have made a difference the first year but he never reached his peak last year. Hopefully this coming year he will get back to that form and he might possibly make some sort of difference, however we'll need more than Fletcher to beat this current Barca team. I've never been particularly impressed by De Rossi but plenty of people seem to rate him so maybe I just see all the wrong matches, personally I'd love M'Villa but he just signed a new contrat so I can't see it happening for the moment.

{Ed019's Note - I think 40 million is too much at the moment, he's extremely temperamental and can be extremely annoying with his diving and moaning. The jury's still out whether he will become the next Ronaldo or the next Robinho. Plus I think Real Madrid can match any bid United make and I suspect they'd be his preferred destination.

If we get Young i think we have enough wingers in the team.
Carrick, Fletcher and Andersdon are fine for the Premier League but noy good enough for Europe. We need two ball playing midfielders. I suggest Hazard and Martinez, two young quality players who will only get better!
Your thoughts on this Ed please? {Ed019's Note - I wouldn't class Hazard as a midfielder, maybe at the top of a midfield three but even then he puts in too little work defensively, Martinez would be a great signing but he has a long term contract so I can't see him going for the moment. I reckon Anderson will have the season every United fan has been waiting for next year and hopefully Fergie will buy a partner for him before the end of this window.

Lens president Gervais Martel has rejected £9million bids for defender Raphael Varane believed to be from Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris St Germain.
The 18-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs after impressing in his breakthrough season in Ligue 1.
Martel insists the asking price for Varane has been met but is apparently unwilling to sell the French U21 international to 'certain big overseas clubs'.
He wants Varane to move to a club that will aid in his development as a player and not just be stuck on the bench.
This could rule out United, who have an abundance of riches in defence after signing Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers, along with Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.
"Paris St Germain have made me an offer, that is probably the worst kept secret around, " Martel told RMC radio station.
"A second club is also interested in him, but he isn't necessarily guaranteed first-team football there either. The asking price is around 10million euros (£8.9million).
"Certain big overseas club have offered more, but I quickly shut the door on them!
"We are on the same wavelength as the player, it's all a question of timing. I don't think we are too far from finding a solution."

Now barca are looking to make a multi million pound triple transfer of fabregas, sanchez and rossi.but the problem is that they have only 4O mil pounds......now cesc has been their main target for quite a few years ...so 35-40 mil are gone then and there...now to buy either sanchez or rossi they are offering villa to city/chelsea fact....now if villa goes and they buy sanchez, a winger.then they have no recognised centre forward...that means they would have to buy rossi with the villa money and thats why there is still a possibility of sanchez coming to UTD....logic

Alex really needs to get some quality signings in this year so far so good, Phil Jones is an exellent prospect, played really well last season in his first Premier league campaign, Ashley young should be interesting, plenty of pace , should fit in well with Rooney and hernandez, But we need to look at the centre..we could do with a quality holding player someone like Alonso ..and a good creative midfielder like modric/Pastore ..Berbatov ? maybe he should be sold and some younger talented striker could be brought in to freshin things up
