So. Eric Steele was at Bayer Leverkusen vs Shalke yesterday.

Does that mean Neuer or Adler are top of the list :/

I don't know, but hopefully this is true and we are aiming for a Good Goalkeeper, not am Average Maarten Stekelenburg.

P.S - Sorry for all the spelling mistakes tonight, don't know what i'm at.!

In response to those and Ed002 talking about fabio coentrao-is he worth it?
plain and simply yes evra would be the preferred lb but he could easily play either wing as fabio and rafael have been doing with various injuries but i also belive he has enough guile to ply his trade in our midfield as he can tackle and has great dribbling ability to get past people
SAF has the knowhow to make players better and coentrao would definately be a welcome addition to and ageing and uncreative midfield

"It's certainly Costa too. Double click it Ed!

Sydney!"

{Ed002's Note - I am told by "our man in Kiev" that it is certainly not Douglas Costa Syd. As I said he played for Shakhtar yesterday and would never have done so if he had been in Manchester the previous evening.}

{Ed002's Note - Delac will remain under 21 for a couple more years - I doubt he will be third choice next season. McEachran, Sturridge, Bruma, Van Aanholt and Kakuka have all played for the first team this season and McEachran is only just 18. Four of these players have been sent out on loan to get experience so I really don't see that youth is being held back at Chelsea. Did you resolve the wherabouts of Douglas Costa this weekend?}

@Injuries to the first team and fringe players may have something to do with why they have made so many appearances this season. They will get game time out on loan but my point is they will not get game time at Chelsea, if Chelsea keep buying players to play ahead of them. Be honest, for example if Chelsea sign Sanchez this summer, who will play Sanchez, Luiz, Torres & Ramires or Kakuka, Sturridge, Bruma & McEachran?

So what ever way you look at it, those signing have/ will block off players from making it at Chelsea? That is fair Ed isn't it? This is why I wouldn't be surprised if Coentrao was signed, simply because Chelsea have no problem blocking off players.

I am yet to see a photo of Costa at OT, so I will keep an open mind mate.

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I think we will have to wait and see what happens over the next two summers with the manager. As for Costa, obviously they could have laid on a plane to take him back on Saturday night and he would have gotten in during in the early morning yesterday. To me it seems unlikely that he would start the game yesterday for Shakhter.}

{Ed002's Note - I can't answer for Ed001 about the U18s but I am sure he will pipe up if he wants to. Chelsea enquired after Coentrao when it looked like Ashley Cole was to depart last year. I don't know if it went as far as a bid being made. Chelsea have very good cover, and one for the future, in Patrick van Aanholt and it seems likely that he will progress through to the first team. If Yuri Zhirkov were to leave then Chelsea may need to look again at the left hand side. It is worth pointing out that Chelsea, whilst being a reasonably small squad, are close to the limit of non-homegrown players and with the planned movements in the summer, it means that there may need to be one or two cover buys who are homegrown. One will likely be a third choice goalkeeper to replace Hilario.}

@Van Aanholt does look a class act, but Chelsea do have an habit of buying players and blocking off youth development. Players like McEachran, Sturridge, Bruma, Van Aanholt, Kakuka etc will struggle to develop if Chelsea keep buying the Torres', Luiz' & Ramires' of this world. It also seems that Zhirkov is on the transfer list.

For these two reasons you cannot rule out Chelsea going in for Coentrao. Ed couldn't Delac be your third choice keeper? He will be Homegrown by 2012 wouldn't he?

Sydney!

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I don't think Chelsea are after him mate.}

@I know they went in for him last season and the bid was rejected, I know Liverpool, United & Real have all been linked to him too, but I have recently heard Chelsea will go for him again this summer and with already securing the services of his old Benfica teammates (Ramires & Luiz) people put Chelsea as favourites to sign him up. I know Ed002 has links to Chelsea so if he is around he may be able to shed some light on the matter?

Hey Ed001, did you watch the U18's last week, what did you make of the game and players performances?

According to the daily mirror we have signed oxdale chamberlain in a deal for 5 million and potentially 10 million depending on appearances.

ed? is this fact or just rumours again? its on the manutd.com. that is where i read it

noley

{Ed002's Note - He cannot of actually signed but an agreement may be in place for him to sign in the summer. Manchester United and Arsenal have both shown considerable interest in the player so it is not out of the question.}

{Ed002's Note - I have maintained all season that Coentrao would be a taget so I am not going back on that, and I think he offers more than Evra going forward.}

@You have said all along that Coentrao will be targeted, but this was before Evra signed a new deal, Ed do you believe Evra is off then? Seems a waste of money spending £20m on a position that we already have covered by Evra. Ed what do you make of Costa and his entourage being in the directors box at OT?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I don't know about Douglas Costa being at Old Trafford on Saturday but he did play for Shakhtar yesterday in a match against Volyn - it seems unlikely to me that the night beforehand they would let him be in Manchester. As for Evra, he is coming up to 30 and Giggs way beyond that - Coentrao is young and has a long time ahead of him, so I will stick my neck out and say I expect Manchester United to still be interested - together with Bayern Munich and perhaps one or two others.}

"@I expect AOC, Rodwell, Costa & Goetze to be bid for.

Sydney!"

Sydney, that is the perfect combination of new players for next season. Ideally, I would prefer Bale/ Coentrao over Costa, but wouldn't be unhappy with that. Would be absolutely one hell of a team!
Ed, what do you think about that? {Ed007's Note - NOT Rodwell anyway, not impressed with him at all! Bale would be a great signing and IMO Coentrao is better than Costa, though I haven't seen much of him}

@I am not saying these are the players I want us to sign, I am saying these are the players SAF will attempt to sign. Coentrao is a left back, not an out and out left winger. Bale is very much the same. Costa is a left winger, a right winger and a CAM. Now Evra has signed a new deal Coentrao & Bale are no longer needed.

Pogba, AOC, Tunnicilffe & Morrison will be brought in together.

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I have maintained all season that Coentrao would be a taget so I am not going back on that, and I think he offers more than Evra going forward.}
