Hargreaves just scored on his debut, best of luck to him

Believable20 Unbelievable21

I can't understand why United didn't accept "pay-as-you-play"-deal with him.. If he stays injury free now, it could potentially be signing of the season...

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done to him. As much as I hate to see him in City colours, you have to respect the fact that he still has the ambition to want to get back to the stage he was at before the injuries.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

I used to have respect for him but not anymore.... If he went anywhere apart from city or Liverpool I would've been ok with that.... JUDAS.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope for him that his injury hell is behind him now and that he can get back into the english team, however i wish he didnt sign for city, i use to love him however not any more, one of the best players around in his field and i wish he could have shown the world what he could do in our team imagine how the last few cl finals against barca would have been like with him and scholes in the centre!

good luck to him maybe if he keeps himself injury free he will come back to united next summer after his contract runs down what ya think of the chances ed?anyone? would be great to have instead of carrick

sf {Ed007's Note - WHIT?????}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sf.... Are you mad? he played an average of around 10 or less games a season for us then went across the city to Moneybags unlimited and you would have him back at UTD.... At least you made me laugh.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck to him.
He offered to prove his fitness for free but SAF has decided to move on.
Come on HERBIE give the guy a break, I hate Citeh as much as anyone but given the choice of WBA or Champions League football what would most do. The guy might be settled in Manchester and not fancy trekking to the midlands for a year or 2.
It's hardly the same situation as say Heinze who tried to orchestrate a move to a rival or blue Peter who asked to leave because he couldn't cope with the Prem then turned up there, he was shown the door.
Clearly our manager has moved on and we have seen some breathtaking high tempo 1 & 2 touch football from some very technically gifted young players this season.
We don't stand still or look back and that's why the manager has produced 3 fantastic generations and I think we are looking at the 4th now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still dont understand fergie's logic in not taking him on as a pay as you play deal that was offered. it makes me sick to think he has played more minutes for city in 1 game than he done for united in over 3 years?!?! and he did look pretty fresh looking and busy as ever.....got a feeling this one could come back to haunt us!

Suppose Fergie is like the rest of us in terms of he can make mistakes, he is human after all lets not forget lol

Anyways bet of luck to Hargo, just a shame he's still not with us

Robbo

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to say a big thank you for spending the time & money getting Owen Hargreaves fit for us. Good start great goal thanks again people.

BLUE MOON.E

Agree0 Disagree0

Herbie you're a complete tool, a bigger tool than the City fan here for a wind up. Hargreaves wanted to stay at the club, he offered us the best deal he possibly could, but Fergie simply didn't want him. He didn't join City for money, he joined because they are one of the three clubs that can possibly win the league and he wants to get back to the top level of competitive football, and get his place back in the England team. He could have settled for the easy life at the Hawthorns but instead he decided to challenge himself to break into one of the most competitive midfields in the world. Now instead of wishing him good luck after three years of hell, tools like you are calling him a Judas when we're the ones that reject him. Pathetic really.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think fergie would take him back next summer if he keeps himself injury free.

sf

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny boy,

your dead right, HERBIE little bit disappointed in your childish behaviour. Like anyone might know it kills a person and even destroys the soul to be released by a club even more so if its Man Utd. This may lead (and i dont think in Hargreaves case) for the player to resent the club and to feel betrayed aswel! Hargreaves was only wanted by 3 clubs and out of all of them anyone i feel would pick City cause as Danny said he had to challenge himself...he isnt doing it to anger United!! personally i wish him the best of luck

But what i do want to say about OH is that SAF knows more than all of us and United are one of the best clubs in the world with quite possbly the best medical centre in the world, United wouldn't of released him if there was a possibilty of him being able to play much this season especially with the boys obvious talent and our need for him in midfield!! take my word for it...he will be injured again very soon!! the boy unfort has no future without injuries

89 Boy Wonder

Agree0 Disagree0

No you guys wont agree with me but maybe fergie has got it wrong this time it is possible.

BLUE MOON

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not got it wrong its just that we have moved on as a team and the one Hargo was bought to be part of doesn't exist anymore. SAF has moved on with youth and new ideas and its good that Hargo has too.

Agree0 Disagree0

The main thing I will pick up on in the original post is the if. IF he stays fit. One 54 minute run out against a championship side does not a season make

not saying he should but does anyone think Lindegaard might start at the weekend and thats why he never made the squad last night.

jred

Believable2 Unbelievable19

Still think De Gea will get the nod but who knows after Fergie's team selection last night :)

Rjmanutd

Agree0 Disagree0

No I think Lindegaard will play on Tuesday. Amos is likely to play in the League Cup after he asked for a loan move during the summer. SAF is obviously rewarding him. I think Lindegaard will get some League games later on in the season, some CL games and FA Cup games. De Gea will perhaps get League games and latter stages of the CL with some FA Cup games? Amos will likely play reserve & League cup.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps syd but i just thought it was odd degea was on the bench and not lindegaard
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

So did I actually bud, Maybe he had a cold or something.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not jumping on the De Gea bashing but physically Lidegaard might be a better option against Stoke.
He dominates his box & is a bit more vocal which could be important against the new Wimbledon.
That's probably down to the fact he's been here 6 months whereas De Gea is settling in. I've no doubt it will happen for him but 3 points is the most important thing.
ajk

Agree0 Disagree0

De Gea is just about getting his confidence back in between the sticks. Fergie would be a fool to leave him out... especially in premier league games.

I've watched all of Inters games this season and Sneijder has been excellent. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with his head, his passing has been exceptional and he has created many chances for his team.
He must be kicking himself when he see's how United have started this season.

REDMOZ

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Because the chance is zero now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet SAF is secretly happy that he never signed him this summer. But not spending the £20m on Nasri or the £30m on Sneijder, we will have cash for the next target, especially as the Glazers are planning on floating the club in January. The £600m is likely to be used for the refinanced PIKs, the club debt and I imagine the rest will go straight into their back pockets, but SAF will be given a kitty. If Dortmund exit the CL by January I think we will bid for Goetze then. Many clubs don't like doing big business in January, but it has it's advantages for that very reason. Liverpool got Suarez in January because they were one of the only clubs doing business, if it happened in the summer, Suarez would not be at Liverpool now. I was thinking earlier that if Rooney got injured we wouldn't have a similar player to him, this must be why SAF wanted Sneijder and why he looked at Goetze. These players can play with Rooney and replace him if he is injured.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the only player we have that can play the rooney role is berb, its one off the reasons i was amazed we never signed a second striker type player, if rooney gets injured our other combinations dont look that good to me. also fergy likes to play one up front in europe ,im not sure who apart from rooney could do this against the top teams
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

That's why I don't think Berbatov will be replaced by a striker. He is more of an attacking midfielder to me. Someone like Goetze could do a similar job to Rooney & Berbatov. Could Berbatov be used as a makeweight for Goetze? £20m plus the Berb.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
that might work for everyone
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Rooney/Berba/Wellbeck can all play in the deeper attacking position (Wellbeck seems more comfortable dropping wide or deep) with Hernandez/Owen/Macheda able to play as more out and out goalscorers

so plenty of options for now in my eyes!

I dont like seeing a combination like Rooney with Berba (even tho' it worked well at points last year) because i feel you always need an out n out goalscorer on the pitch to stretch the opposition and create more space in front of their defence

personally...I could see a combination of Rooney/Berba with Hernandez/Owen taking apart most Prem teams, depending on who needs to be played or rested on the day

Chicha and Owen both play off the last shoulder of defenders, look to make clever runs in beyond the defence and their prime focus is always tucking the ball in the back of the net

Either would be ideal to finish off chances created by team mates IMO

Lastly, Owen has scored 11 in 12 starts for Man Utd. Wow! Ok ok i know mostly against lesser opposition, but the goals still need to be scored. He has looked sharp again since the end of last season I think, and I for one would be happy to see him play some part domestically this year

Ramble over

Agree0 Disagree0

SAF plans to use Berb more as a floating link between the CM's and strikers- as a play-maker and Jones will eventually be brought forward to be a defensive MF like the role Hargo was bought for initially. There is no interest in Goetze.

This is a list of our next six games. You can see that is is definitely now a squad game era we are living in, probably why clubs with small squads will come unstuck. Out of these fixtures, it's clear if either the first team or second team will play. Teams like City, Chelsea & Arsenal do not have this luxury of having two strong teams.

Sat 24/09/11 Stoke v Man Utd 17:30 (First team will play)

Tue 27/09/11 Man Utd v FC Basel 19:45 (second team)

Sat 01/10/11 Man Utd v Norwich City 15:00 (first team)

(Fri 07/10/11 Montenegro v England 20:00)

Sat 15/10/11 Liverpool v Man Utd 12:45 (first team)

Tue 18/10/11 Otelul Galati v Man Utd 19:45 (second team)

Sun 23/10/11 Man Utd v Man City 13:30 (first team)

Sydney!

Believable9 Unbelievable14

Exactly! and if we come through that unscathed , we have everton, then a run of about two months where we don't have a team i would consider to be in the top 8 of the league. Could/Should be sitting pretty at the top of the pile by christmas! :D

Agree0 Disagree0

Not quite sure you grasp the importance of the champions league or the concept of switching two or three players rather than the whole team! As the premier league is 38 matches, utd are more likely to field a few less experienced players in games against Norwich. The importance of the Champions league also dictates that we need to ensure enough points to get through the group stage as soon as possible, rather than risk everything (circa 13million) on a second string team.

Agree0 Disagree0

More of the first team will play against basel and more of the second string against norwich. we should easily qualify from the champs league draw but we want to make sure its top and doing this as early as possible will allow us to play the squad players in the last game of the group

Agree0 Disagree0

When I say second team I don't necessarily mean 11 changes. I think 6 or 7 against Basel at OT with a few heavies sat on the bench, but 11 changes against the Romanian club, just like we fielded a very weak team away to Bursaspor last season.

We have Liverpool, Galati & City in the space of eight days. I guarantee you the team we send to Romania will be our second string. If Rio & Vidic are fit Lindegaard, Jones, Smalling, Fabio, Evans, Carrick, Park, Pogba, Cleverley, Giggs, Valencia, Diouf, Owen & Berbatov will travel and play. Players like De Gea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Anderson, Fletcher, Young, Nani, Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck will all travel, But won't play. Is it worth risking our best line-up for the City game for a game in Romania that our youth team would give a good go? We will make 11 changes for that game, definitely if we win at home to Basel.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think that Fergie will take too many risks with the CL fixtures until we are guaranteed to go through to the next phase. Our CL teams will therefore be first team with only one or two changes to rest key players - definitely not a second team.

Mike B.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Mike B'

We made eight changes for the Benfica game, our hardest tie of the six. I guarantee you we will send a second team to Romania.

Sydney!

Gasperini has just been sacked by Inter. Some might say it's a tad reactionary but surely 3 games is more than enough time to get a team gelled?

The instant success mentality is an absolute joke helped along by pushy owners and clueless fans.

Danny Pughnited

Believable11 Unbelievable1

That should read 3 league games.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

If they lost to top teams then fair enough but they've lost to both Novara and Transponzor... justified if you ask me, especially with the team he's got and money they've spent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take a look at Fergie's first few months in charge. If we're going by your standards he would have been sacked before Christmas.

It's the same mentality that was pegging De Gea as a write-off after two games, impatient silly people.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

I recall fergie saying something along the lines of "Fans these days are much harder to please than they were 30 years ago" Just shows how it has changed, Football was seen purely as entertainment, sport etc and now it's becoming more about good business.. Quite sad really

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Benitez might come in to replace him
SHAITAN

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Danny...it's ridiculous...its less a sign of Gasperini failing (as he wasn't given enough chance to succeed or fail, it's still only September!) than an illustration that the inter board did a cr*p job when picking their next manager, if the already feel he needs to go...

English Premier League soccer champions Manchester United have put immediate plans for a 1 billion US Dollars flotation in Singapore on hold due to market volatility but still plan a listing before the end of the year, a source close to the IPO said.

Fullback

Believable8 Unbelievable0

United have had it on hold for last 3 weeks from what iv heard. tho iv heard that a singapore casino owner is ready to buy 15% of the shares at a cost of £426m tho how true this is i do not know, market there atm is up an down so much its hard for buyers to get RTB atm {Ed004's Note - I thought people who owned casinos could not buy football clubs?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004 the person reportidly intrested in buying the shares owns a hotel chain that also has casinos within the chain in singapore. hes joint own with someother fellow. plus with him only wanting to purchase on around 15% in shares means it is not a controlling stake in united. its a small stake that is not a controlling amount. thus meaning he can purchase it as it does not intefere with his casino holdings. plus if it is purchased privatly an not against his bussiness he is also allowed to buy shares. there are many loop holes to rules an regulations in that area of the world an if u are rich enought they can be found an used for your benifits easily.
