Does anyone think that we'll try to spend big again next summer to repalce Nani? Gotze springs to mind as being the next target ... however Rodriguez, Isco and Muniain will be on the list. Muniain is too temprimental though. So anyone think Gotze is possible?

Well, he plays the same position as Kagawa now, so I have my doubts.

Goetze plays centrally and we would already have Kagawa who can play centrally or on the left. Personally I dont think we need more than Young, kagawa and Welbeck who can play on the left. IMO we should reinvest the money in a CM playmaker who can replace Scholes, smeone who is deep lying. Fabregas being the number 1 target but that's very unlikely. Cabaye would be ideal and I think that could happen next summer as there was genuine interest this summer. This Algerian guy that we are linked with is similar he could be an option as well if the rumours are to be believed.

Bad news folks, Rooney is going to sit out the game vs Liverpool. Guess there's too much risk playing him in what will be a pretty aggressive game.

The manager did say he will not be back to full fitness until next week? Could he put a 90% fit Rooney on the bench Sunday? He also said Young out for 2-3 weeks with bruised knee, but did say that you can still play with a bruised knee, but he will not risk him. I think both could play against Spurs.

Syd he said that Wayne wasn't available at all. Probably not the worst thing...

Who said SAF has to be telling the truth. Mind games.... He doesn't want to tell Liverpool our line up and remember how pissed he was when the FA released details of Youngs injury. I doubt Rooney will start but you never know what SAF has up his sleeve.

Exactly Dan, I think even BR will be wondering if Rooney is on the bench Sunday or not. It's all in the manager's wording. He is not available, he will be fully fit next week. There is no reason why a 90% Rooney will not play.

I highly doubt that he'd be lying about Rooney's fitness, he gave a detailed description saying he's in full training but wont be available for selection. Even if he was, we'd still start with Kagawa and RvP.
And yeah Sydney, he said there is a lot of reoccurences with these type of injuries so there is no risk playing him until he has had a full recovery.

Oz, it will be a fitness issue, not to do with his gash. I think there is a chance he will make the bench, unlikely, but possible.

May as well stick him on the bench. Give Liverpool something to think about, even if we don't bring him on.

SAF just confirmed that there are no fresh injuries, and that Rooney and Young are unavailable for this weekend. He said Rooney could be back next week.

Bit different to the normal questions on here Eds but perhaps you might could help. Remember that Rhain Davis kid? He plyed in an u18 tourny in Italy last season for us at 13 years old! But didn't play in our U16 tournys this summer and hasn't played any U16 academy matches that I know of.
Do you know if he is still at the club? There have been 4 kids from united in his age group called into the U16 England team: Marcus Rashford, Demetri Mitchell, Cameron Bothwick-Jackson and Dean Henderson so it looks like we are doing very well for next year academy 1st year scholars/last year school boys! No news on Rhain Davis though? Academy probs not your area...
Dan {Ed007's Note - As far as I know he is still with the club. Sorry but that's about the stretch of my knowledge about him as at 15 you don't hear much about them unless you are involved in the youth side of the game.}

OK thanks Ed. A very far fetched idea but I know that Barca kept Messi's exposure to the minimum at this sort of age so that he could develop better without distractions and other teams wouldn't get wind of him. I'm hoping for the same haha. The current under 16s (on paper according to results) look like the best i have seen coming through for a long time including the FAYC winning side from the 2010/2011 year. Trying not to build them up too much but would advise people here to watch the victory shield match against NI next Thursday on sky 2 7.30pm. Patrick Roberts from Fulham is also an extraordinary player who will play in that match.
