Mario Goetze has signed for Bayern Munich BILD are reporting alongside Honigstein reporting it crazy.

Believable20 Unbelievable6

£31.7 million apparently crazy looks like we have missed out! MANRED

Agree0 Disagree0

Read that myself 37 mill Euro deal done jred

Agree0 Disagree0

That is surely rubbish. He's a Dortmund born and raised lad, that would be sickening.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read an article, states bayern have activated his €37m release clause, Dortmund can do nothing about it. Article states he has agreed terms on a €7m per year deal. that will have taken a chunk out of their budget! if its true can't see them signing lewandowski as well.

Norts

Agree1 Disagree0

Very detailed report seems legit seems as thought Pep joining has swayed his mind!

MANRED

Agree1 Disagree0

Will be abit gutted and suprised if this does turn out true. I didn't think he would join Dortmunds main rival. I thought he would have stayed another year or two then moved abroad to one of the big Spanish two or mabye to the Prem with us, City or Chelsea.
I'm also alittle dissapointed with him if it's true. Dortmund are his club and they are at their strongest position in a lot of years. There is nothing that Bayern can offer him atm that Dortmund can't except money. Which would be disspointing.

Dortmund's chief excecutive the other day said something like Gotze agent had his future planned out, was he reffering to this maybe.

But if this is true then I could play into our favour. Dortmund will be fuming and also desperate not to lose another key player to their main domestic rival. This should really put us in the driving seat to sign Lewandowski. The flip side is would Dortmund let him go if they are losing Gotze as well already?

Imagin losing Gotze and Lewandowski at the same time, they'll have to do some serious rebuilding. Would be a good test for Klopp though. Sir Alex's career has been defined by his ability to rebuild his teams over and over again. Let's see how Klopp handles it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe this open the door for Bastian Schweinsteiger to move elsewhere. Would be great signing for us.

I don't know why people think this will make Schweinstieger available. Him and Gotze play completely different postions. If anything I would wonder how they would fit him in with Ribery Muller Kroos and Shaqiri.

Agree4 Disagree1

In answer to shappy, Lewandowski has previously sated that he won't be signing a new contract. I think that bvb would rather let him go for £15 million to united than lose him for nothing next season.

Philiphs93

Agree0 Disagree0

Top quality talent, I do feel him joining BM is pretty bad due to his Dortmund roots.

That's the end of that then. BM with an huge showing of intent. Who's next? Falcao?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2013 10:29:53
I know they won't wanna lose him for nothing in 2014 but they could reconsider that as an option as they didn't expect to lose Gozte. I still expect them to cash in on Lewandowski, but you have to accept the shock transfer of Gotze may make them reconsider at least.

Agree0 Disagree0

The dortmund CEO has apparently confirmed this

Agree0 Disagree0

I said a few weeks ago that BM had a habit of buying all the star players from teams that threaten their dominance (eg Ballack and many more) so whilst this is hugely disappointing, its not too surprising. I still wouldn't be surprised if they got Lewandowski as well

Jaxer

Agree0 Disagree0

JLBER84, This does not mean that Schweinsteiger will be moving. They can easily accomodate both him and Goetze.

Robben and/or Ribery will be leaving, I believe.

I am disappointed that a player like him is not moving to us. He could have been exactly what we needed in the midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder if Toni Kroos may become available!!! would love to have Kroos in a united shirt!

fozzy58

Agree0 Disagree0

This could possibly explain why a lot of people though Lewandowski was on his way to Munich. He was never the target but the media jumped to that conclusion. ?

Agree1 Disagree0

Great we won the title all smiles. Reading between the lines on here any move for Goetze would have been in 2014 and would we have really spent the 37 mil euros? There are other excellent midfield players for around 20 mil ( ok I don't really know that but looking around the net and paper talk ).

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotze won't be able to play so high on the field for bayern. That said some midfield will have their playing time cut, add to that new coach = new idea, formation.

JLBER84

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed002; any ideas if this is true?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Yes. At the behest of Guardiola Bayern Munich made it clear that the would meet the player's release clause and the player was asked if he would be interested in a move to Munich. He agreed. It was unexpected and I am told will end their interest in Oezil.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Losing Gotze and Lewandowski will show how good a manager Jurgen Klopp is. If he can rebuild Dortmund to the heigths they are at now, and continue developing the squad, he should surely be our next manager. United have been going through this process several times, the latest incident when Ronnie and Tevez left, and look at where we are now.

ZigZag

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, I was going to ask you about Oezil this morning, do you believe United could become interested again? His agent has claimed United have enquired via him on a few occasions, can you see us looking towards him again now Goetze is elsewhere? He can play left/right and central. Would fit perfect if he was available.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - RM don't want to sell Oezil.}

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2013 20:04:06
@Ed002 if you are about.

Has there been any change in the Lewandowski situation and do you still remain of the opinion that the Bayern Munich interest is bit of a red herring and that United is his most likely destination?

REDFAITH {Ed002's Note - No and yes.}

Believable10 Unbelievable1

I really don't see the need for Lewandowski yes he is a great player but we already have a great forward line.

Just read that Arsenal are after Draxler with a club valuation of 15 million. We would be nuts to pass up on him if that is what it takes.

Shahram

Looks a very good player especially at that price

Ed if you are around a freind of mine who plays in the irish airtricty league for shamrock rovers claims he is mates wit james McCarty of Wigan an has told me that he will move on if Wigan are relegated. I know that one of you lads like myself like McCarty an I feel he could be a great squad player an will develop greatly under SAF an the likes of Carrick to possibly become that steel we need in the future but do any of you know if we have even looked at him and would we be interested? Thanks in advance I know you guys are busy.

CAIN {Ed002's Note - I am sure Wigan would be willing to let James McCarthy move on if the right offer was made. Clubs enquiring previously baulked at the £20M price tag.}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Only Liverpool would be stupid enough to pay £20 million for an average player like McCarthy. Hope we don't go there.

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree mcarthy is an excellent player would become a utd great

THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree1

"McCarthy is an excellent player"

We are talking about the Wigan midfielder aren't we? I am yet to see him have a good game against us or any of the top sides. He is poor going forward and even in a seven-man Wigan midfield he leaks plenty of goals. If we had £15m-£20m for a midfielder I would hope he isn't anywhere near the top of the list. Strootman, Bender, Witsel etc are a class above. Hasn't he only just broken into the ROI midfield? Shocking.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Apr 2013 13:13:19
Fresh he'd be a good signing for the right price. Twenty is too much something like twelve would be much more realistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2013 13:16:40
The one thing that would concern me would be fans reaction scapegoating him and abusing him because he gets signed instead of a bigger more flash name. I just think some fans wouldn't give him the chance to prove he's worthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd mccarty broke into the ROI squad under a very stubborn manager the lad has bags of talent an confidence an just to jog your memory had cleverly next to him ladt year an in my opinion made cleverly look better than he is. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders an a good engine an it is total crap for you to expect him to control games wit the big Four at a club like wigan wer he is the heart of the team. Did carrick or cleverly or anyother united player control the big Four in the midfeild NO but he could be a great player wit a better team an manager. 20mill is way to high but 10-15 could work considering it cost us 10 or so for zaha. By the by thanks ed

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree1

He isn't a bad player CAIN and I understand you Irish fellas will like him slightly more than most, but we are Manchester United and we are lacking a top quality midfielder. We do not need any more squad players, we need proven talent that will improve our midfield. £15m would buy Strootman. It would probably buy Bender, even Draxler.

If Wigan were relegated and we signed McCarthy to replace Fletcher in the squad for under £10m, then okay. But when there are better players out there for the same money we should be signing better players. We have enough squad players, we need quality now. McCarthy has done nothing to convince me he would be anymore than a squad player. {Ed007's Note - What if Cleverley was sold for the £30-40m he is worth and McCarthy brought in for £10-15m Syd? ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Syndney, I think you'll find that he's performed top against city twice this season already, and standing out in a very average wigan side is something else and a certain zaha has been bought for 10 mill with add-ons and plus the 20 million price tag could be negotiated to 15 I imagine

Agree0 Disagree0

I think McCarthy and his attributes are the type of player we need, I just think a club like Manchester United should look for better than McCarthy. Like you have said 007, if Cleverley was playing for someone else would United want to sign him? I feel the same about McCarthy. He is that player who plays for someone else who I wouldn't want us to sign.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2013 18:05:08
I think we need two midfielder syd. Someone top class for the starting line up to partner carrick and then a squad player to replace fletcher or anderson. Something like strootman and mccarthy would work. Strootman and carrick with cleverley and mccarthy in rotation. You can't say that it isn't an improvement on what we have now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe if wigan go down we could get him for a small price sell ando and you recoupe some of the money nani would fund a really good world class midfielder for the champions league
Paddy The Irish Man

Agree0 Disagree0

We have a few youngsters in the U21's like Petrucci, Powell, Tunnicliffe, Daehli, Januzaj and then Pearson & Perreira in the academy. I don't think we need to go out and buy a Fletcher replacement. We need a top quality midfielder, use Jones in midfield more and promote some of the youth. But if JM is available for under £10m then perhaps it will do no harm. let's wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree1

Would rather hear we are interested in Mick McArthy than James McArthy. He is not even a squad player at Utd, why spend any money when we have already invested a fair bit of money on the youth and they are chomping at the bit. If we sign players like McArthy then we will have more Paul Pgba scenarios on our hands - it sends out the completely wrong message and he certainly isn't going to strengthen what we have.

Rumours in Italy that Vidal is set to leave this summer. Is there potentially an interest there from us? I think he would be a good addition but would need more than just him coming for the midfield IMO, maybe Juventus still have an interest in Nani?

Supasub {Ed002's Note - Vidal moved to Juventus after spurning good offers from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. If he were to come up for sale, I would suspect both clubs would still be interested.}

Believable2 Unbelievable6

As an avid fan of "the warrior" his own quote after this weeks win was
"I'm happy here and my family are happy, and I'm proud to wear the Juventus jersey. "

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldn't suit the midfield, he plays as an attacking central midfielder and there isn't a place for that in the current system. imo he'd probably be wasted just like kagawa is being

There is talk in some of the papers today about a young French player at Sevilla - Geoffrey Kondogbia. He is supposed to be likened to a young Patrick Vieira (or, dare one say it, another Paul Pogba). Does anyone know anything more about him, and are MUFC interested in any way in getting him?
Mike B {Ed002's Note - Kondogbia only moved last summer but Juventus would like to take him in the summer and Begiristain has said he is interested in the player and feels that the club can work with him to be a long term replacement for Yaya Torre.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I remember watching him in the U19 Euros last summer. He, Pogba and Lucas Digne were the stand out players for France. Don't know how he's got on since his move, but he didn't look out of place playing alongside Pogba last summer.
