massive rumblings going around that mata could be used in chelsea efforts to sign rooney. chelsea have almost stealed wiliam from unders spurs nose with a offer of champions league football. this would leave mata in a strange position within the chelsea squad. not a 100% confirmed but could be a high possibility that mata could be used. expect utd to make offers for certain madrid players as bale is a madrid player announcement begining of next week tues wed no later than then.

Believable16 Unbelievable33

I can see how you could think that an option and I'd happily take mata and cash for Rooney! I just don't see it happening though! I think mata was voted their player of the season last season. He's a class act IMO pal

Agree1 Disagree0

He's just a Spanish Kagawa, again he's not out and out centre mid which is the problem area. I don't doubt he is a great player but why not sign another centre half and goalkeeper while we're at it. A Lampard or Ramirez type player but obviously those are not going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree2

Get mata, then kheidera!

Agree1 Disagree0

All these Rumblings that the Willian signing means Mata will be sold. Mata plays on the left Willian on the right! Why not ask for Hazard in exchange going by that assumption, I'd rather have Hazard anyway if Rooney goes.

Luka Modric has told Croatian team mates that he could leave Madrid this summer to join United.

Exactly the sort of the player we want. Let's see what happens.

Believable32 Unbelievable54

Always my second choice after Fabregas! Really wish we could have signed Cesc though he would have been perfect IMO.

Chelsea are now odds on to sign Willian, does this mean Juan Mata could be involved in a deal for Rooney? I'd like to relieve them of Lukaku too. Cracking players.

Believable19 Unbelievable29

There will be no "DEAL" with Chelsea and the above deal ends it all for Rooney chances of a move there
ARB

Agree1 Disagree0

Mata would be a fine signing, straight swap for Rooney.

Make it happen MU, make it happen.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree2

Lol you united fans are dreamers lol

Agree2 Disagree4

I think the Liverpool fans are dreamers. They think they have a chance of Mata.

All I will say is there were strong rumours when Jose arrived that he wasn't convinced by Luiz and Mata. Luiz could well be going to Barcelona as talks are taking place. So was those rumours correct? Mata is a left forward who drifts in from the left. Hazard, Schurrle, Willian are all very similar. So do not rule it out completely. That's all I will say. Perhaps Jose isn't too impressed with Mata.

Where would Mata play if the club added Rooney and Willian to their squad?

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree2

Why he would play for Manchester United of course Sydney ;)
Perfect swap, that way Mata could play on left and Kagawa thru the middle, problem solved and even Klopps heart would be mended!
I don't see why it's a dream no name?

Agree0 Disagree0

Although at the same time, I wouldn't be heartbroken myself if this meant Rooney did stay. I just wish he could turn my cringing of his immaturity, into full blown support again ASAP. Those pictures of him after RVPs 2nd against Swansea were like the straw that broke the camels back. I just want to shake him! Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, Mata almost always plays on the right drifting in with Hazard on the left or Moses. Schurrle plays on the right but he's still to prove himself. Oscar can play anywhere along that line but I honestly can't see Mata leaving CFC. If you really want Mata because you believe he is so good, then surely Mourinho would see that too (if true) and keep him. Just the way I see it.

Agree3 Disagree0

I think this whole Mata not a Mourinho player is a cover for him wanting to move back to Spain. He's a cracking player, there's no way anyone wouldn't want him in their team and he's been Chelseas best player. I'd love him here, but not at the expense of Rooney and not if he plans on returning to Spain (which I'm sure he does).

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Patzi. You and many others have read too much into those pictures of Rooney after the goal. Even MOTD should be made to apologise for their comments. He had been cynically taken out by Michu and was just about picking himself up off the ground after the ball had gone in. He'd taken hell of a whack and was then expected by all to run after teammates to celebrate. Don't think so.
In will cheer him to the rafters until he doesn't wear the Red of United as I do all the players.

Rumours that the Willan deal could be hijacked by another team, it's hardly us. there's hope

Believable2 Unbelievable27

Chelsea because they know we will not sell them Rooney
ARB

Agree0 Disagree1

I hope we are not in for Willian, but would love Mata.

We must push for Mata.

Sydney! {Ed044's Note - Ed02 said the available player is Victor Moses.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not kid ourselves Chelsea will not let Mata go he has been their best playmaker since joining. Willian is probably a a replacement for Moses who I don't think is a favourite with Mourinho. Hope Willian sees sense and goes to Spurs, don't want Chleski getting any stronger!

Love your user name by the way! haha.

News coming in that Willian is in advanced talks with Chelsea and is expected to have a medical soon. Surely if Chelsea are bidding for Rooney next week and they sign Willain they will offer Mata as exchange?

Believable13 Unbelievable19

Ronaldo, Mata and Modric/Fellaini/Cesc to United = Manchester United 2014 Treble Winners!

I heard on the radio earlier that Chelsea were planning on putting forward a bid which would include Mata plus cash for Rooney. Now I know this was the first thing that was said when the Rooney/Chelsea rumours started and was denied but what do people think of getting Mata and a few quid for Wazza.Personally I really don't want to see him play for a PL rival especially not Chelsea as I think he would improve them but I do rate Mata and think if we put a cheeky bid in for him and do it the 'ethical' way we may be able to get a bargain.
Any takers,
opinions?
RedKen

Believable22 Unbelievable25

Mata plus cash for Rooney? I would take that all day long. But why would chelsea do such a stupid thing, they are no fools. Mata would solve our midfield problem though and premier league experience. wishful thinking

Agree2 Disagree0

As if chelsea will sell mata been the clubs player of the year two years in a row. Not going to happen honestly some of the stuff on here

Agree1 Disagree1

I actually think this could be true Chelsea have just had a bid accepted for Willian

Agree0 Disagree1

Agree mata + moses would be a great deal. moses is a high quality squad player who can score goals and would allow us to off load 2 from valencia young or nani.

Agree0 Disagree4

That is why Chelsea are now taking Willan . to replace Mata. I have a feeling that this is actually the deal that will take place. Just a feeling .

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho is just saying that he will bid for Rooney after the United game to give his side then edge and try to sway Rooney's mind so he is not focused on game. Hope we batter them. Mourinho is just getting boring now. Spanish Media had him sused just a shame our Media think he is some Messiah. !

Agree2 Disagree1

Same as simzdav would take this all day long. Just can't see Chelsea parting with arguably one of there best players. If Rooney goes someone with the same quality will be needed to replace him. I know kagawa will possibly play rooneys role. But we are losing a player that can play anywhere in attack and still do a job.kagawa seemed a bit lost playing wide left.

Agree2 Disagree0

I will take Rooney anytime. He is a far better player for us. If we sort out our weak midfield we will clean out trophies. Jose is actually playing games with us. He is just trying his lucky but will obviously take Rooney if we blink. Mata is quite creative but there are better players out there. Ozil, Modric, etc are better and Modric has EPL experience and also marks better than Mata.

Agree1 Disagree2

I'm not a Rooney hater but with all that's gone on I'd probably take a straight swap! I'm a huge admirer of Mata, he's younger and more creative, which is what we need over Rooney's goals IMO. If we got a nice chunk of cash on top I'd say we have a good deal.

Agree1 Disagree1

Now Mata and Fellaini would give us the steel and silks, our midfield has been lacking. If this daydream (Rooney for Mata+pennies) happens and we add Eto to it, we will be awesome. However, before everyone gets carried away, Willien is a very different to Mata, he's more like a Hazard kind of player, so I'm not convinced Jose will want to part with Mata, but I hope I'm wrong.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree1

Mata + cash for Rooney. would definitely take that. An attacking four of RVP, Mata, Kagawa (and Ronaldo :)) playing in front of a CM of Carrick and Modric/Fellaini would mean Champions again and challenging for Champs League!

Agree0 Disagree1

Mata in our ranks would give us the option of a left footed player on the right which we haven't had since I can remember

Agree0 Disagree0

New Baines/Fellaini bid has gone in and should be accepted, Monaco want Evra. Also told Modric could be a goer as Real need to raise funds for Bale/Suarez. If we manage to sing Modric, Fellaini and Baines that's a decent window for us. Solves our left back problem (Evra always out of position) and our midfield becomes more creative and powerful. Must say I'm not saying these will definately happen but United are pushing hard for them to happen

Believable33 Unbelievable44

Think Martinez will be digging his heals in, stamping his authority, I don't see any everton players moving anywhere on principle

Agree3 Disagree0

Modric won't be joining this summer as real can't afford to sell him with Xabi Alonso out for about 3 months
Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree I think Martinez will fight an win to keep them there. more likely he will sell one of them but that I still think is unlikey. I think utd are waiting for something to happen in transfer market. fingers crossed for some good players arriving

Agree1 Disagree0

Martinez might not have a say i'm afraid. if you owe the bank money for something, ie, a house or in evertons case a loan, the bank decides if an offer is acceptable, not the manager or possibly even the chairman. Moyes will know exactly what the situation is at everton financially. if they borrow money against the sale of assets then it will be the bank who may force the hand of kenwright into a sale regardless.

Agree1 Disagree3

Proper know it all that knows nowt, everton owe £30m and don't have the bank chasing them, sky have invested and everton have funds otherwise the purchase of Kone would not have happened, seriously look at your own finances, I think you'll find you well into minus treble figures

Baz {Ed007's Note - I think you should look into your club's finances a bit closer. The season ticket money goes straight to Ticketus for a start.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Martinez say recently that there were no more bids for Baines and Feilaini?

Agree0 Disagree0

We just signed a sponsorship deal for our training ground that is worth more then everton can make in 10 years so we have the money we just not spending it! as woodward feels we don't need it, we will do our business in the winter window

RedDevil0690

Agree0 Disagree1

Fellaini will come to United for 22 -24 million as Everton want Ince and McCarthy. Not so sure about Baines.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree1

Trouble is it won't happen due to injury to Alonso which would leave Madrid short.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mik I agree with you that fellaini if anyone will come from Everton. The impression I was given is that fellaini is potentially available but Baines is not (this info was after his infamous release clause expired). Ed07 are Everton in financial need? From what I gather they don't need to sell unless the manager wants funds for his own signings

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton don't need to sell, as long as we keep up with the interest payments the bank can not demand anything more, like your mortgage if you're up to date they can't demand extra.
Baz obviously hasn't got a clue about Everton's finances though, they are hardly healthy but with the new sly money there's no need to sell.
And if ticketus is in the bvi then ed007 is correct.

: ManUtd have submitted an
improved £35m double bid for
Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. my prayer is that it should be accepted as Fellaini would add steel though i'd still prefer Ozil in addition. Wow we would never run short of midfield in couple of years

Bains too would be a very good addition as he would bring competition while we send Buttner to Besiktas on loan to go learn more and improve.

Believable22 Unbelievable27

While I agree fellani would add steel in a def mid role my problem is moyes has played fellani in an advanced role (in the hole) for the past two seasons, in that position fellani is in no way good enough for manchester united

Great News and Well Done for putting up with the 'wind up' merchants.

This should be a fun site, sometimes it seems people just want to argue.

Thanks for all the Summer's 'news and rumours' plus editorial comment.
