united are offering valencia or nani as a cash plus swap deal for vidal. weather its a summer or jan move i'm not sure. cash value said to be around 30m which I don't think will be enough.
both players will be leaving the club.
rio and giggs both to anounce retirement feb march time also. vidic to stay on for 1 more year.

Hope we get vidal in january, we need a dominant CM

Agreed! If we could get him now him and mata we would be vastly improved. Really made up about mata. Been Chelsea's best player two seasons running. My new favorite utd player! Just need a full back and centre back as well in the next 8 days. Not counting me chickens!

I'm really hoping we still bring in a couple of new faces this window, but I refuse to get my hopes up.

Loving the signing of Mata, to me a full new back 4 needed, Vidic past it for me, like Jones & Smalling but none of them seem dominant enough, Dante would have been ideal but can't see that happening.

Very strong reports in Cardiff that Zaha has had a medical today with a view to a loan until the end of the season. If he's not being played by us then it makes sense.
Believable16
Unbelievable4
Given that moyes said he would not let him go unless young and nani were back does that mean we have someone else lined up as nani is still out injured?
unfortunately if we don't see anyone come in we are going to be playing young more, who if we are honest is simply not good enough to be playing for us
i think nani was always likely to stay at least till summer, so he can be used as a bargaining chip for vidal but I was hoping someone would come in for young. west ham maybe?
Agree0
Disagree0
West ham you think? More like accrington stanley. He s useless.
Agree1
Disagree0
Wouldn't happen but a deal for Cabaye with Young going the other way on the cheap wouldn't be that unrealistic, young could do well at a slightly lower level so Newcastle or West Ham could suit him
i think Zaha will do well at Cardiff under ole, and will prob get another loan next season too (tho not necessarily at Cardiff)

22 Jan 2014 16:21:45
So apparently a £35 million bid has gone in for Juan Mata, I personally think it will be accepted over the negotiation table and hopefully the whole thing could be finalised by Monday if not the weekend. Reports also suggesting that Juventus will be making a move for Nani imminently, surely this will get us on the negotiating table for Vidal - a part exchange plus a decent amount of cash has to be put on Juve's toes to see what they say. They certainly very keen on Nani. Lastly the trail seems to have gone cold on Coentrao, is that off?
Believable8
Unbelievable3
{Ed002's Note - See previous posts.}
LOL now tv saying the Mata bid is £40m either way looks like I may be eating large helpings of humble pie.
Also just heard from an aquaintance that Juve do indeed want Nani and we want to use him in negotiations for Vidal. Juve value Vidal at 50m and Nani at 12 ( not sure if Euros or £'s ) We Vidal 45 Nani 20 so some talking to do. Really hope this is true.

Call me mad, but there is a possibility that Jose deliberately wants to sell us Mata.
1)We get Mata, we come stronger and and possibly even beat Arsenal & Man City, Chelsea's title challengers. Hence, Jose could go win the PL.
We can't have any direct clash with Chelsea, with Champions League being the only possibility where Mata would be cup-tied.
2)Probably it's a sweetner for the Rooney deal in the summer.
3)Lot of money for a player.
Believable6
Unbelievable5
These reasons have been mentioned by just about every journalist ever.
Agree1
Disagree1
This has been said many a time, old news. IMO I'm sure Mourinho wouldn't sell on a short term plan however, because there will be many seasons following this season where Mata could help influence our title challenge. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure Jose wouldn't sell only based on this season. Yet on the flip side, if they won the league, it would only influence more players to join them in the summer. The Rooney point is interesting, surely if that was the case though Jose would want re-assurances from the player himself that he would be prepared to move to Chelsea, and that alone provides many obsticles i.e. current players talking of playing for other teams, United allowing such talks to be held etc
Agree0

Thing is, rooney can buy out of his contract in the summer so it can't of been part of any deal he is free to go where he wants

ED/Syd/Guys though we have heard Dante's name a lot in the past few days I haven't read a figure in terms of money about how much he will cost.
Considering he cost Bayern £4m and he's 30 already I don't think he should cost more than £8m?
Personally think he'd be worth that much as he will be a replacement for Rio and Vidic.

Just sharing what I saw on tv mate that's all isn't my personal statement. The thing we have in our favour is chelsea don't have him as 1st choice so how can u value a substitute that highly? I think we may end up getting him for around 32-33 million mark but we will have to wait and see as we need to move with the times as everyone pays over the odds thesedays and that's just how it is if we as a club want to challenge in the transfer market

Ed 002, can you give us any truth surrounding the MATA situation? Obviously there is interest, and rightfully so, but has any formal approach been lined up or made?
There's also rumours of a following attempt to sign CABAYE, is there any truth in this one? For me, Cabaye shouldn't be a target as I think we need a busy midfielder lined up, such as Vidal from Juve if he were to become available.
Personally I'd like to see us sign MATA this transfer window, and adapt to a newer, modern system of 4-2-3-1 and play a system with the likes of Kagawa, Januzaj, Mata and/or Rooney (if he's fit and still a MUFC player) operated in advanced roles behind the main striker. For me, Kagawa gets no where near enough game time, and doesn't play in a role where he can influence the game as he did at Dortmund in our old school 4-4-2 unless he plays as the No. 10, and I think with Mata it would be the same! No other major team around Europe plays 4-4-2 anymore and I think its time to adapt to contend with the better teams. 2 holding CM's seems logical to me as we concede so many goals through the middle, with a lack of bodies supporting the CB's. That would allow us to play eg. Januzaj, Kagawa, Mata behind the striker and give us sufficient firepower to create and score goals which we have been missing much of this season.

Also MU have made contact regarding Vidal and are open to doing a deal there too.

Agree0

Ed, if Rooney goes then I think Cavani is more important to get than Reus. Although a part exchange deal for Reus with Kagawa is very desirable. I can't help but think though that Cavani would be brilliant off of the right for us, Januzaj left and move Mata centrally when Rooney goes. Apparently SAF has spoken to Blanc about the possibility so we will have to wait and see I guess. Fellaini and Vidal though is definitely what the manager is going for.

Miguel Delaney is pretty good redseven, like the editor he can only show where there is interest, it's then up to the clubs and player to sort the rest.
We now have two separate good sources saying we are interested in Mata & Vidal, three good sources if you include ssn. let's hope we pay over the odds.

Sydney!
Isn't it frustrating. I remember a few years ago we were talking about signing the Chilean contingent of Vidal, Sanchez, and Isla. I also believe the fees at the time were being quoted as around 30-35m for all 3. Now we would be lucky to get 2/3 of those for that price each with Isla being the odd one out but still a 10-15m player.
Anyway a window of Vidal/Gundogan and a more creative player would be great IMO.
