I was wondering if someone could explain the buyout to me. I know I probably sound like an person asking this but I am from the US and the transfer policy are confusing sometimes. I know BM activate the buyout for Goetze does that mean no other teams can try to match that?
Thanks
Kennedy {Ed002's Note - It is not a buy out. There is a release clause where if a club agree to pay it the player will be asked if he wishes to speak with the club.

The whole issue of "clauses" is a horribly complex area. The "buy out" clause is legally binding between a club and a player. The "buy out" is effectively what it says - a means for the player to buy himself out of the contract. As an example, if a player wishes to buy himself out of a contract, he pays the applicable FA the amount of the "buy out" clause effectively becoming a free agent. The problem is that in most cases a player would need to obtain that money from the buying club - and this is fraught with issues regarding "tapping up" and, of course, taxation as it can be seen as income for the player and would therefore be subject to income tax. There was a test case about the taxation issue in Spain about three years ago.

A "release clause" is far more common in that it gives a figure that the club would accept for the sale of a player to another club - but it is not legally binding. These are normally unreasonably high figures (Hulk at Porto for example) introduced to act as a deterrent for hostile bids - and even then the club could easily block a move. An example being the case of Cavani during the summer where two offers were made that matched or equated to his then "release clause" but Napoli did not sell. Now of course Napoli say they will listen to offers above €70M.

There is then the becoming popular "termination clause" which is binding between the player and the club and if met would see an offer from anywhere accepted and the player given the opportunity to make a call on a move. This overcomes the issues associated with "buy out" clauses as the money would be paid by one club to another. This is what Malaga are trying to agree with Isco. Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract because they do fear a move for the player this month. Malaga wanted 21M euros and have now negotiated an increase in a termination clause to 42M euros (€35M for the transfer and €7M covering some other costs), using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree.}

So is Goetze to Bayern a done deal then Ed, no one else can come in? {Ed002's Note - Yes, it has been agreed.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed,
Would you agree that the confirmation of the Gotze deal does look to benefit us in terms of the Lewandowski situation I. e. the chances of us signing him are more likely?
Thanks,
Paul {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with it. I have dealt repeatedly with the subject of Lewandowski.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the explanation ED

Robben and Ribery are likely leaving Bayern in the summer with Gotze and Shaqiri most likely going to play outwide so eds any chance of one of Ribery or Robben who is a glorified Nani {Ed002's Note - Manchester United have shown no interest in them.}

Believable1 Unbelievable18

Ribery was involved in an under age sex scandal and Robben turned us down years ago. said we were yesterday's team and joined Chelsea. so no chance.

Ed002 do you have any idea which clubs would be intrested in Rooney if he were to leave?

Calvin {Ed002's Note - The only interest I am aware of is from Monaco but I would not expect him to move in the summer.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Send him to Barca and use RVP to get Fabregas go the other way

Ed002 you said ribery could be one of the players leaving bayern do you know what sort of price range he'd be? And do we have any interest? On another note pedros the man we need, up and down the pitch I love him! {Ed002's Note - I hav eno interest in discussing money.}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Okay fair enough, if he were to leave would they look for upwards of 20m?

Elroy!

Ed002, does the signing of Gotze detract from Munich's interest in Bale, Suarez and possibly Lewandowski, or or are they interested in having a completely different front four next season? {Ed002's Note - I would remove Lewandowski from that list and add Falcao. The only thing I understand that changes is interest in Oezil.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Ed002; so they are interested in Suarez, Bale and Falcao, and no longer have interested in Ozil (and never had any in Lewandowski)?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - They are interested in a number of players.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, was all of this BM/Lewandowski "deal done" stuff, the media hearing about talks between BM & Dortmund and assuming it was Lewandowski?

Also, who do you think out of Bale, Falcao & Suarez do you think BM will turn their attentions to next? In your opinion of course. Does this Suarez ban change the timings perhaps.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - These are questions for elsewhere S.}

Agree0 Disagree0

But but but the Liverpool boys gang up on me : (

Ha ha, I love it really ;)

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

A different topic Ed, but how much will Strootman be available for? 15, 20m? {Ed002's Note - I really would rather avoid discussing money as it causes confusion.}

Hi eds nt reely united related but with goetze announcing heel b moving to munich what are your thoughts on what will happen to tony kroos? {Ed002's Note - Kroos is not one of the players expected to leave Munich this summer.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Who is expected to leave ed? thanks. {Ed002's Note - Ribery, Pizarro, Gomez, Robben, Boateng, Van Buyten, Badstuber, Contento, Luiz Gustavo and Tymoshchuk could all be leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reading this gave me a brain haemorrhage.

Hey Eds, any interest in Henrikh Mkhitaryan? I am curious as to whether any clubs have any interest in him because he looks like a great player. Like a Young Lampard.
Plays midfield for Shakhtar and he has pace, skill, a rocket of a shot and the ability to arrive in the box like Lampard.
James. {Ed002's Note - Shakhtar's Mkhitaryan is of interest to Lazio and interest possibly remains from Juventus, but the player is looking for a move to Spain with Barcelona or somewhere in England, preferably London, so he can get the very high wages he says he is due. Seems a bit of a flake to be honest. Shakhtar are looking for about €25M which seems high to me.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Thanks for the info Ed002, The figure does seem a bit high but in today's transfer market clubs are demanding outrageous amounts for players.
James

Agree0 Disagree0

I don;t want a Lampard type of player. I want a Scholes type of player. Also, from what Ed said Chelsea or City sounds like the perfect place for him.

also have seen a few times now, rumours that Welbeck to go back out on Loan?
can anyone confirm this as I would have thought it would be a backwards step for him, and would essentially be putting him in the market as can be seen that SAF does not think he's good enough
thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable29

Wellbeck is still raw I would send him out again and buy lewandoski who is proven at the highest level.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sending Welbeck out could prove to be a master stroke. Next year RVP will be 30 and obviously the following 31 which means he would lose some pace naturally but at that time Danny would have matured more and hopefully his finishing will have improved with a full season and game time behind him I can't see why not but, with only 3 strikers on the books fergie may buy another striker, even judging by the way fergie is using rooney in midfield (seems to be playing deeper then ever in his past few games) I think he must see his long term future there, prompting him o add another to the squad. Enter Lewy or Falcoa!
James

Agree1 Disagree0

So welbeck could be sent back out on loan then?

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance IMO. Makes little sense as he gets plenty of games at United and at a higher level than any loan move would provide. Also, surely better to have him play and mature around our squad rather than getting used to another squad of players? Makes no sense to me.

My contact in the Academy has told me that the plan is for Januzaj to come into the fringes of the first team next year.

So we can expect him to play in the Carling Cup next year.

Also, EDs, are you aware that the QPR page has been hacked? {Ed001's Note - trying to get hold of our hosting company to get it sorted, I was hoping I could say it was fixed now. I wouldn't mind but that is our main cost for the sites and we pay extra to have our servers monitored 24 hours a day, yet no one is ever about to fix issues outside of office hours! Hopefully it will be fixed soon, just waiting on them to do something.}

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Jake, not that you want to be a middle man or anything but I would love to know who your contact tips for big things lower down in the academy i. e. U16s or U15s. I know they don't like to overhype players at a young age but do you think you could ask him? Would be interesting to hear what he has to say about Mitchell, Rashford, Borthwick-Jackson and this kid Callum Gribbin that i've heard a lot of people at OT talk about.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Dan,

Its certainly the case that they try and not hype players too much at the younger ages.

But there's no harm in me asking him.

I know he was saying that there was a 14 year old in the academy who looks special but I forget his name.

I'll ask him tomorrow and come back to you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers mate, i'll bet that's Gribbin but I look forward to your reply tomorrow.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Dan,

I've asked him.
No one particularly shines at Under 16/15s apparently they're just a good solid teams. And they don't single anyone out.

However they are quite keen on a lad called Sean Goss apparently he's a very good and creative midfielder. He's scoring goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Right thanks Jake. I get the feeling that in itself is trying not to hype the players up too much as I am sure that Mitchell, Rashford etc are very highly rated. Goss has never stood out for me when I've seen him play, coming back from a serious injury now as well I think. Thanks though mate.
