gala's bid for shaqiri rejected according to ed2 on the liverpool page

Galatasaray in talks with Basel to sign Shaqiri... "The club have officially begun talks with the professional football player Xherdan Shaqiri and FC Basel" - Galatasaray statement.
Would this not prompt fergie to act? Surely shaqiri would be a great addition to our squad

Believable10 Unbelievable4

If he does, i doubt we'll know anything about it.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to say it but we ain't breaking the bank for anyone. Either because Fergie is truly happy with his squad or we have no money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Or it could be that fergie has a plan to bring in a top midfielder in the summer, hence bringing scholes back to cover until then.

Fergie looked a shaquiri and supposidly made a bid...but that could have been months or years ago, when he had a different plan!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. Sorry guys, but don't think we'll be seeing anyone till the summer.

Scrud

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame if we really don't have any money as I see this lad as one of the future bright stars of european football. Only my opinion but I'm sure time will tell.

I know most are sick to death with Morrison stuff but did any read the interview with his agent?

Seems to indicate he will leave in the summer rather than now.

www.vocegiallorossa.it/?action=read&idnotizia=30995

Believable6 Unbelievable6

There's not even a hint from his agent that he's even considering moving. For me, that's positive news, but I'm an optimist.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Well im glad some one can speak italian!

dr red

Agree0 Disagree0

From Google translate it says

"at the end of season without a contract he may leave Manchester United"

Of course this is a translation from English to Italian and back again via a software translation, but it seems to me that he won't be leaving 'til summer

Fergie will not buy anyone, is more than happy with squad, carrick is playing well and with cleverly to come back plus scholes, Anderson, giggs, park, jones why bother!

Believable15 Unbelievable14

SAF has already said that he wants to improve the squad, but the few players that he wants are not yet available. So SAF is not currently happy with the squad, he just will not panic buy an average player or buy a player for 33% more than he would pay usually simply because it's January. SAF understands that we are not strong enough, that is good news, if he said he was happy with the squad, then I would be worried.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why bother? Come on mate, because scholes, giggs, park, anderson, carrick have all been around over the last few years when we've been outclassed by barca twice and only won the prem due to other teams fading. Clevs and jones are too young and dont have the experience for us to hang all our hopes on them yet. We defo need a midfielder or two and we need them asap

Agree0 Disagree0

Well seeing as we are no longer in the champions league this year there is no major need to spend big in January

Agree0 Disagree0

Errr don't we want to win the PL? Ferguson has already thrown in the subliminal messages; no value in the market, no one available, happy with the squad!

Dave

Agree0 Disagree0

Stll think our big signing in the summer will be sneijder as I don't see us signing modric as if spurs qualify for the champions leave he has no reason to leave and he seems happy in London. Fergie took a gamble this year by not a class midfielder and was hoping cleverly and Anderson would make the step up. I think sneijder and another midfielder will be signed in the summer. I think rooneys form at the moment is more worrying not making any effort and does not seem interested hopefully can sort him out.

Damian M

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergy tried to sign sneijder , didnt make a move for modric, enough said
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Snijder would be a great signing for utd we aalso need to get rid of several players and put others to retirement and stay retired... as they are not up to the job and would be embarrased top european clubs .... we need to be compeating with the best ... for that we need a midfield as good as when we had becks. butty, scholesey, keano, and giggsy, i know swinesteigers still on his radar will be interesting to see what happens in the summer

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

We are out of the CL and were embarrassed by Palace in the CC...not to mention a 6-1 stuffing to Siddy at home and an embarrassing defeat by Blackburn also at OT and Toon away.
Scholes has dragged himself back to help us out, Giggs is 37, JSP was simply shocking against Palace, Anderson is yet to convince anyone in the long term and Cleverley does not have a good fitness record even when out on loan. Jones and Carrick have just about kept us afloat. After the Fulham game MUTV was full of rose tined muppets talking about how good we were....but nowhere to be seen after Blackburn and Newcastle.
We are not at the level we need to be and if we do not adress some of these issues we will go on the slide like the Gooners.

Sydney! - do you honestly think that we'd go for van Persie in summer, you said that you thought we would. I don't see that we have a cat in hells chance of signing him, its silly to suggest. Madrid, City, Inter, AC, even Chelsea will all be ahead of us in the running, he will probably go for his big pay day, if not resign on at Arsenal. So you honestly think that there are legs in that rumour?

RedDevil19

Believable7 Unbelievable6

I think we have a better chance than AC Milan, Chelsea & Inter at signing him. We would have had Nasri if City didn't trump us. He will not sign a new deal with Arsenal, he is 100% looking to leave this summer, I think City, ourselves or RM will sign him and the fee will not be more than £20m.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that that is what the fil will be, thats a given - but what about the wages? He'd probably be asking for 150k p/w. Who knows i guess, he is the most likely 'big name' to come in. I still think like i sad a couple of weeks ago that someone younger and promising will be good - Damiao, Wolfswinkel, Schurrle etc.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal will not pay more than £110k a week, but I am not 100% sure it's just the last big pay-off RVP wants, I think he badly wants to win trophies and I think we can offer him trophies and a good wage, problem is City can offer him trophies and a bigger wage again. I guess it would come down to preference. I am sure we would offer him around £120k a week, City will offer between £150k-£175k a week. But that's only £15k-£27.5k extra a week after tax. I think it will be down to preference and I think the fact that Nasri, Clichy, De Jong & Toure already being at City could swing it for them.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal wont want to sell to us , RM CITY and PSG will pay more wages and transfer fee.
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh, for me van Persie is off to City, it just seems likely. He'll probably replace Tevez.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

PSG is a backward step, he will not go there. I think RM, City or ourselves will get him. I think City will be favourites, but I have already said that. Jred Arsenal have no more issue selling to us than they would selling to City. The only reason AW said that he wouldn't sell Nasri to us was because we were the only English team interested in him at the time. If City and United were interested at that point, he would have said that he won't sell him to City or United. It boils down to what RVP wants to do, if he said to Arsenal "I want to join Manchester United and no other team", they would have no choice but to deal with us and they would have to accept a low fee too or lose him for free in a year (something Arsenal would never do).

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
a lot of ifs there pal
if RM want him , and they have been linked with him and are looking for a striker were do you think he would go,
if city want him they wil get him before us , we cant compete with them.
also why would PSG be a backward step ,they will spend big again in the summer and coud be CL contenders, remember all the people who posted "if nasri wanted to win things he would of signed for united" well he might win things with city , psg could be the next city.
when a player like RVP becomes available all the big teams will be interested do you think we can compete with them.
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Higuain & Persie swap deal could take in place or something like tht. No way would Arsenal sell Persie to us. But then again, you never know..

IBleedBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

Like I have already said, it will be down to RVP's preference. We will certainly be interested and in the running just like we were interested and in the running for Nasri. Nasri/agents opted for City, but RVP may opt for United. If RM get Cavani they may not want RVP. Barcelona look like they will tie up Neymar and may not need him, so like I said I believe either us, City or RM will sign RVP in the summer, but City are favourites IMO. It will boil down to preference and he may prefer us. Spurs, City, Liverpool all wanted Young, where did he go? Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs all wanted Jones, where did he end up? It will be down to his preference and seems none of us are RVP, it is of course all guesswork. PSG is a step backwards because of the league they play in.

I mentioned a couple weeks back that Damiao would be a good striker for us to bring in, and its popped up in the press today. I wonder if the press are just making this up, or there is some truth. I hope there is as i think he'd come in for about the 20 million mark - a good figure for quality and is in our price range.

Also, someone wrote on here that Rodwell has submitted a transfer request, is this true? If it is we could all be surprised if we sign him and Clyne.

RedDevil19

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Spurs have shown an interest in damiao, they also have an afffiliation with internacional, damiao is very very good friends with his former team mate and spurs player sandro and its believed thta, that would be his choice of destination?

Wow... This page is buzzing today :-) wassup peeps? are we all rumoured out?? HERBIE

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Buzzing indeed....I think every crazy rumour has already been called out over the last few weeks!
But seriously who could we buy at the minute - I can't think of one player who is available - Hazard, Sneijder, Modric Gotze are not available - that we would want to sign!

Agree0 Disagree0

We're all over on the liverpool page having a laugh mate lol

i know this is a long shot and not likely to happen but why not offer drogba a contract in the summer he's said he's leaving chelsea.

Believable8 Unbelievable14

He's a hundred years old next year, we need to be looking at plyers with Drogba's class but younger.... HERBIE

Wesley Sneijder has ruled out a move from Inter during the current transfer window after yesterdays mater. Right, now that's officially over...

Manchester United are thought to be ready to enter the race for Brazil striker Leandro Damiao, 22. What'd you think of him?

Brooksy

Believable12 Unbelievable6

I think it took us all 12 mths to learn how to spell Sneij%34467qder!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd prefer Oscar or Juan or international to Damiao. I thought a while ago we are grabbing one of their reserves, Rodrigo or something. My bet is that where the contact is for, never know though!

Liverpool interested in Jelavic, all I can do is laugh.

Believable21 Unbelievable4

Carry on laughing pal 'cos he isn't going to Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

No no he won't go to pool, west ham are in pole position to sign him so it's a no brainer really :)

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

It more thn likely tht the players Liverpool can bring in they spent 20 mill on downing who is rubbish 35 mill on any Carroll who is rubbish 20 mill on Henderson who u guest it rubbish they ain't in champions league agen they are a top half of league team with united , s**ty, spurs , Chelsea ,arsenal all better teams they cnt attract players no more an I gotta admit I love every minute of thm being s**t

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm, slagging off our signings... Veron £28m? Berbatov £30m? Anderson £20m? Carrick £18m? De Gea £19m? Owen Hargreaves £17m? Yeah all of them have been well worth the money right? Face it, your slipping down the league and it won't be long till your back to being a lower half team.

Oh not to mention Henderson was £16m and has alot more potential than the crap you lot have. Keep crying, and come back when you have won it five times.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I recall u cn put me right if I'm wrong now did or have we won league titles an champions league wid the majority of those players an u say we slipping dwn the league an ur right from 1st to second not from 2nd to like 8th like Liverpool an Carrollis the second worst signing in prem history fact , cum bk wen u cn win a league an not wait 20+ years to do so , so gather u won't be coming bk ever agen ur a one man team u lose Suarez an u cnt score s**t ahaha face fact with city , united, Chelsea , spurs and arsenal u ain't got a chance of making champions league u didn't even make europe last season ahaha Liverpool are a medioca team wid a has-been manager u all raved tht he is king wa av u dne for u as a manager this time round got u up to wa 6th odd ahah

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh and cleverly is much Betta than henderson btw and we didn't pay 20 mill for him :)

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to the scouser he has a point its easier to win one premier league title than to win 2 champions league title just saying

Agree0 Disagree0

Yh fair point but wa is harder wining 19 league titles or 2 champions leagues ?

and funnily liverpool have had a 12mil offer accepted for defoe :)

Believable6 Unbelievable16

If you follow him on twitter, shouldn't you know how to spell his name? Because if it is him then he can probably spell his own name correctly!

Is Van Persie's contract up at the end of the season?
If so he would be a great addition. {Ed007's Note - His contract is up in the summer of 2013.}

Have we ever looked at Joao Moutinho Eds? He is a brilliant player. Wouldnt come cheap mind. I think he's quite similar to Modric.
