apparently Mazinho has said on a radio stations in Spain that he can't confirm a Thiago move to Manchester United although he 'prefers it'.

Thiago has just Tweeted to say he is off for his holiday abroad! Should we be nervous by the fact that he is taking a holiday without anymore being said about a potential deal to utd?

MUNCH

Believable35 Unbelievable8

No. Transfer window is July 1st

Agree2 Disagree0

Seems a bit odd, considering Muniesa tweeted 4 days ago a picture of him and Thiago on holiday. Then again, maybe he's going on holiday to sunny Manchester?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really. major signings won't be confirmed till the 1st of july anyway.! I'm betting his future. wherever it lies. has already been sorted. !

Agree0 Disagree0

He was meant to take a position earlier with his father today. I guess he has made his choice after reviewing Barca's latest contract proposal. I am very sure the decision will start filtering into the mainstream newspapers tomorrow. My strongest suspicion is that he will sign for United. As to when, I am not sure. But Knowing United keeps secrets so well, it may well be he has agreed to join for sure. Otherwise they would have denied the deal like they did with Lucas.

Agree1 Disagree0

Who knows, if he's agreed personal terms with United and said that's what he wants to Barca regardless of what they offer him then he can relax while the clubs sort out a deal.

Ozwald

Agree2 Disagree0

Could the holiday be abroad to England and specifically sunny Manchester.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think he will go Chelsea
Paul

Agree0 Disagree1

No.

Brendan81

Agree1 Disagree0

His farther has been on a radio station and said his son should sjgn for mu and the family are moving to england a red united fan

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy needs a break, coming of a full domestic season to go straight to the under 21 championships in June and reporting for pre-season club fixtures for whoever he ends up with. He definitely needs a break as do all players away from football and with their families. A change in clubs is a big decision so he would need time to think over all possibilities.

Agree1 Disagree0

He is on holliday only. if u follow his tweeter u can see his and muniesa's pics comming in from last 4 days or so.
so chill and wait.

rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard he's having a week in Blackpool.

No news in not bad news. United are quoted on the New York Stock Exchange and any significant financial deals should be announced there first.

Believable5 Unbelievable15

I can't remember, but was the Zaha signing announced on the NYSE prior to any other announcement?

J - Stand

Agree0 Disagree0

I will check tomorrow. I am a Stockbroker and can check. When Fergie retired the rumours did grow too strong and the club were forced to make an announcement prior to Wall Street opening.
Wall Street opens at 2. 30 our time but formal announcements start a couple of hours before opening.

Ed with Garay being linked with us again then surely one of our other centre backs is on there way out? Vidic? We're already stacked in that position.

What the hell. Dm has decided against selling evra. now monaco will move for abidal. What a chance missed

Rodio17

Believable2 Unbelievable32

Wish he had called me and told me instead, you must feel very privileged.

Brendan81

Agree1 Disagree0

Chance missed for what?
If evra is sold then who is there to replace him?
Baines? he's 29 this year and everton would want £12-15m for him
Shaw? Yes, i'd take him without doubt but i'd prefer to keep evra too til he settled in. he was great for saints last season but he's not even 18 yet so maybe too young to play maybe 50 games a season
Buttner? Not convincing enough defensively for me
Its ok saying sell evra but who would you replace him with whos available atm?

BABY FACED ASSASIN

Agree0 Disagree0

Ideal world i'd go for Contrao from Madrid, rumours he ain't particularly happy there at min, good age, good going forward supporting and although maybe not the best at min defensively, would improve dramatically at united, price wouldn't be cheap though.

Just one possible option, but agree, not a massive amount of stand out left backs at min.

Charla

Agree0 Disagree0

Evra out. Baines in

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you spoke to Moyes then?

Agree0 Disagree0

This is probably good, as we can't afford thiago, strootman, 1 or 2 wingers AND a really good left back. Hopefully if evra stays, we are concentrating on the positions we are weaker in (cm and wings).

Thorne

Agree0 Disagree0

Leading news papers get accuracy of 20 to 25% when it comes to transfer news. why do u expect any1 to be even 50% correct other than chief executive and manager himself?/

rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

Evra is a key figure in the dressing room, Moyes will want to keep these strong characters from the Ferguson era to help his transition into the club. We need to keep winners in the team, clearly Evra divides opinion but he is a born winner and plays the United way. I think we should keep him and would rather see the money spent elsewhere then on a new Left back.

Roland

Agree2 Disagree0

Evra had his best year at United. He remains one of the worlds best left backs. Baines is Ok, but is valued more for hs free kicks than anything else compared to evra. Shaw, yes try him, get him to learn from evra.

From what I understand, thiago is going to sign a new 5-year deal at barcelona. He has been given assurances about playing time and his release clause will be lowered from £78m (from aug 1st) to £58m (when contract is signed). I'm absolutely gutted, but I believe we will be signing another youth player, mendy (monaco) before we make our 'big money' purchase.

Pablo

Believable35 Unbelievable89

Where did you find this out?

Agree0 Disagree1

I hope you are wrong, but I suspect not. Unfortunately we have a habit of missing out on our main transfer targets in recent seasons.

Agree2 Disagree0

Xavi Iniesta Busquets and Fabregas aren't going anywhere soon and are currently far ahead of Thiago in the pecking order so how can they give him assurances?

Nat

Agree3 Disagree0

Nice one. this is Mendy who has already stated that he's staying in France? Why waste your time posting rubbish?

Agree5 Disagree0

Thiago got assurances when he signed the last contract and he never got the game time, so in my opinion he won't sign no 5 year contract.

Agree2 Disagree0

I wouldn't be surprised if this did happen. But in all honesty, I think he may be on his way to United. As nat has said, he seems to be too far down the pecking order at Barca.

Agree1 Disagree0

Reports are all varying at the moment. Most seem convinced he'll sign at united, others think he'll stay having had a conversation with Barca's representatives. The truth is we won't find out until an official statement is made by either club. We're just going to have to wait and see, but if Thiago is the quality of player that is being looked at then I'm excited about who else Moyes might be considering.

Matt

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually according to a couple of sources and newspapers including a website etc. Tita Valanova has said to Thiago that he won't get more regular games than what he already gets.
Special K

Agree1 Disagree0

This is pure guesswork. No-one knows what is happening at this point in time. negotiations are underway.

This is not a board game. , There are millions of pounds at stake and every last pound gets negotiated at this level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steveytrader is the signature on that last reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will b a united player on 1st of July no doubt bout it he wants to go somewhere where he can play every game and Man U have no midfielders of his quality so he will fit straight in and play every game! Lb

Agree0 Disagree0

Mendy is going to lille, so I will have to take the rest of your post as being wrong also, thanks though.

Agree1 Disagree0

Is this not a rumours site?!

I'm not asking you all to take my word for gospel, but I have signed myself off, so if my post doesn't become fruitful then you lot can slate me!

All i'm saying is, thiago has been given assurances about more first team opportunities. that's upto thiago if he accepts or rejects the contract offer. From what i'm told, he will be signing a new deal.

As regards to mendy, he is an interesting option for utd. He has stated that Utd is his 'dream' club, so how can he be so sure of his next move will keep him in france? Utd want him and will get him, arsenal are also interested.

Pablo

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt he's staying at Barcelona. There hasn't been much pro-Thiago propaganda on El Mundo, which would usually be a sign that they're mid-campaign to keep him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect that barca are desperate to put a buy back clause in the deal. If I was united, I would say fine, but its £77m matching barca's valuation in thiago's current contract, which has been reduced due to not getting enough playing time.

Frustrated fan.

Agree2 Disagree0

I do think Chelsea will come into play very soon. Barcelona want Luiz and Chelsea would certainly want Thiago. Like the editor has said, perhaps a twist or two to come. However, I hope he does leave and choose to replace Scholes.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pablo, you haven't even been able to say where you have heard that. The truth is things and his dad had to meet with barca hierarchy to discuss the future. Does not mean he is staying, just means that it gives the media another version of events to report and make money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I agree, if they want to buy him back later give them a massive fee. Not like with Pique when it was 5 mil. I really hope we get this lad, looks absolutely class.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a lot of mixed reports at the minute some say his joint others he's staying. We will have to wait and see and answer isn't far of I suspect.

Andyp MUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Lot's of things will be happening behind the scene's. Think of it like this. Thiago is obviously a very talented young player, who all the top clubs would be fully aware of. Yes it seems to be public knowledge that we're in for him. but a player this good and so cheap due to Barcelonas cock up on his buy out clause. do you all realy think we're the ONLY ones in for him. I'm with Sydney! on this one. Chelsea will be having a dabble. so too will City. At least we can gaurantee first team footy though due to our lack of mid-fielders!

J - Stand

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorted my season ticket out on Friday the person I was talking too said there's a signing in the next 5 days would not give his name just said he was a Spanish player and he had a great under 21s

Agree0 Disagree2

Barca have Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Biscuits and Pedro all guaranteed more playing time than Thiago. Any stalling on a deal is just posturing by Barca to get the best possible price. This lad will be a United player trust me.
Togthered.

Agree1 Disagree0

Just being realistic. but an employee who works in the ticket office would not be privy to that sort of information.

J - Stand

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha as a if ticket staff would know?! They find out after it's public knowledge.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ pablo. you post is just rubbish and trash, go get a fact before posting.
and of thiago, he has stay he want to go to world cup next year and barca can't gaurantee him the playing time he merit to play for the national team, and for sure, he will be a Manchester United player by the end of the month, am so sure about that.
talking of mendy, he has told the french media that his dream club is Manchester United but for now he want to stay in france and develop more of a player and he is going to play for nice in france.

MR TRAFFORD7

Agree0 Disagree0

Mrtrafford7

Its a rumours site you cretin, show some respect. I can understand why the eds get annoyed now. I am only saying what I know, I haven't quoted anyone or gave my source's name for good reason. Do you honestly think a player like mendy would turn Manchester United down if they offered him a contract? Exactly, he wouldn't and if he did, he wouldn't get a second chance later on in his career. Barca are looking to offload alex song, sanchez and possibly mascherano. They are not trying to replace any midfielders. Barca play 4-3-3, thiago will be playing a more advanced role or wide role. In fact pretty similar to kagawa if he stays at barca. You are forgetting that he trusts barca as he has been there with his brother for years. Thiago has an option to stay or go, as we all know. I've been told he will stay, that's all i'm saying.

Pablo

Agree0 Disagree0

On the subject of Mendy, am I the only one who thinks he could be a great alternative to strootman? He's small, but quick, strong and tireless, good on the ball with a decent pass, good tackle etc. He could be perfect for when we need a little extra in terms of winning back the ball, and he won't give it away easily either. Maybe a good replacement for Fletcher?

Good morning Eds. Any news on Strootman? It seems to have gone very quiet.

Believable19 Unbelievable4

Yeah, I thought we'd wrap up this deal already. Patients I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't expect any announcements of big deals until after David Moyes officially taking over.
DPB

2 or 3 signings to be announced on 1st July! Lb

Lets hope things remain quiet on this front and we buy a decent defensive midfielder instead
