Ed any info If we're looking at this Zaha from palace.
Really impressive against us and has great ability and workrate, think he'd be a great signing. Clyne wasn't too impressive IMO
SC {Ed007's Note - There is more of an interest in Clyne than Zaha.}

Believable10 Unbelievable1

No better than anything already in our squad , don't need players like that at all , whittingham was most impressive player on the pitch , that's the level not top of premiership level

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed, disagree totally with noname reply, Fergie generally likes wingers with skill pace and work back, he for me ticks all the boxes. Clyne on tonights showing not a patch on Da Silva twins
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

Clyne was poor last night. no composure and gave the ball away a lot. Zaha on the other hand sound great skill, tracked back most of the time and very strong when on the ball. he ticks the boxes i'd say. but then not sure we're after either of them!

Agree0 Disagree0

I rate Zaha for his pace, dribbling and ability to beat a man, but he is pretty clueless beyond that. I'd say he needs to go somewhere like Newcastle, Fulham, Swansea who play good football, before even thinking going to a top 4 Club.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Well dont forget Park and Giggs are wingers technically.....both of which could be leaving in the summer..so thats 2 spots we would be down in the squad.....I would snap Zaha up tbh. Im my opinion there is no risk of Real Madrid etc trying to poach him from us and under our coaching could easily become in the top5 wingers in the world

With the apparent 'split' in the Real Madrid camp, can you see this adding more fuel to the fire for Ronaldo's return? I sure can, especially if Mourinho leaves! Instead of spending a rediculos 55 million on Modric (a figure quoted on here earlier), put it towards Ronaldo - that will really do it for City and it will show that we are number 1.

Believable15 Unbelievable11

I would imagine any offer made for Ronaldo would just be matched or bettered by City and they'd offer double the wages.
Dingle

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but I could never see Ronaldo playing for city,he's a red!

Super red

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to ran on your parade but if hes offered 300k - 400k a week by city i would hardly expect him to turn that down. I would think City would go all out to take 1 of the games greatest players and would take great delight just to wind us up and take 1 of our greatest players.

Not to mention money talks now, its not about what you want but who can pay you the most with the majority of players. Just look at Nasri, he would of thrived at united but got his head turned by his agent and either warms the bench or puts in a sub bar performance. It is a shame but the game is full in equality.

Agree0 Disagree0

No name,
ronaldo isn t coming back.ozeil and hugeiun will leave at the end of the season. we look like abit of a laughing stock even enteraining this rumour.

Agree0 Disagree0

City would just offer more to Madrid than anyone else which would mean Ronaldo's only option would be to stay at Madrid or earn more at City.
Dingle

Agree0 Disagree0

Super red,
i never thought schmeicel would tog out for s**tty but he did.there is absolutely no loyalty in football.they have a short career and are only interested in making as much as possible while they can.

anyone know how serious brighton are for michael owen, personally can't see him going to them, but you never know, if they offer him enough, and all those southern racetracks

Believable1 Unbelievable5

I don't think it matters if they are, he doesn't wanna move away from the north west area.

Eds, Syd, Lads,

Just wondering if anyone knew anything about Sergio Canales? I was under the impression we were interested but he ended up at RM but has been loaned out? Any chance we might renew interest?

Apologises if this has already been discussed.

Ports

Believable1 Unbelievable3

He's out for the rest of this season with knee ligament damage so I don't think he'll be of interest to us.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Not until he's fit again. He went to Valencia but has a serious injury which will rule him out of the season most likely or at least thats what i heard last.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks guys, shame looks decent. Would be a nice pairing of him and Martinez in CM.

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

Ill accept im a fan of his and he made a terrible choice to go to real rather than joining a club that would develop him further. that has somehow stopped his development so not sure if he will come out good

Hi eds was wondering what you think the possilities are off a big name centre mid coming in are in jan and of any names you would think to be most likely? {Ed002's Note - "Big name" is rather overly subjective for me. Sorry.}

Believable1 Unbelievable8

Big names are big money and we just don't have that any more. People need to get real, united are run by business men with little interest in football, the club is in a strange state of change, who knows where things will end up. I don't think we will be buying any big names for the foreseeable future.

talksport reporting that Galatasaray have failed in their bid to land sought after FC Basel star Xherdan Shaqiri.

Manchester United are among a whole host of teams interest in Shaqiri but Galatasaray are the only side to have made an official bid so far.

The offer, believed to be in the region of £10m, was deemed not suitable by Basel and as such, the Turkish side have ruled themselves out of the running.

Gino {Ed002's Note - If Shaqiri were to be available now then there would be plenty of interest including at least Galatasary, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Hamburg, Leverkusen, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool. A recent low bid from Galatasary was not accepted and they are planning on trying again to get Basel to consider selling in this window. I am also sure if he were to become available then Arsenal would also be interested. However, for me it is tough to see him leaving a team he has been with since he was a young child - particularly during their Champions League run. Perhaps the summer is a better option.}

Hi ed. Have United bidded 55 million for Luka Modric? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. However, I would not be surprised to see some sort of package put together to offer Spurs, perhaps with a player going in the opposite direction. The price you mention strikes me as rather high.}

Believable1 Unbelievable11

£55m sounds right. £30m of it to be paid into Redknapp's Monaco account, £10m to Fergie, £10m to the Glazers and £5m to Tottenham. The good news for us is that Mickey Thomas will be delivering the cash personally. {Ed002's Note - Plus VAT of course.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see us splashing out £55 million to be honest as I think we could get two quality players for at most £25 Million each such as Martinez and Erikson but with everything going on with Arry and the court case then certain players could get unsettled by this if he is found guilty!

I know it won't happen but i'd love united to go to Tottenham with ridiculous bid for Modric, Bale and Kyle Walker! I think these 3 would be excellent for us. Here's to wishful thinking!

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

'Ed002'

You have obviously heard a little whisper or two else you wouldn't have added the player exchange part. As you say these deals are rare. Any idea who the makeweight player would be if it happened? Berbatov, Anderson or Ferdinand?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to speculating Sydney because we have nothing confirmed at the moment. I think it would be tough to sort out any such deal over the next week in any case.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 002, usually you strike these rumours down with your witty answers(always funny to read), but this time you seem to entertain the idea. Do you know something the rest of us don't know?? Thanks in advance.

HERBIE {Ed002's Note - Given I don't know what you know Herbie I cannot say if I know something you don't know. I would suspect that there is some general truth in the interest but less so in providing a large pile of cash per se. No doubt various options have been considered but I fear it may not be possible to strioke a deal in such a short space of time.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Never been a great admirer of point your view Ports but i totally agree with you on this one. The 3 of them would be a great addition to us although again i can't see spending any type of money on them, not too mention 55 million on 1.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think that 55 is Euros, Cant see that as pounds. {Ed002's Note - DEals between English clubs tend not to be in foreign currencies.}

Agree0 Disagree0

'Ed002'

Agree that there is no time to complete a deal of that magnitude, not unless Modric refused to play or something. That is simply not going to happen. Modric will be moving in the summer so then would be far more likely IMO.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I tend to agree.}

Agree0 Disagree0

£50/55 mil is a huge amount of money for Modric. A massive amount in fact.
If we pay anything like that then we'll have been mugged. I don't think he's that good to be honest.
Hope there is no truth in this, there are other players out there more suited to us, and no doubt at a more realistic price too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget the £55m quoted fee, that is never going to happen. Perhaps that's fee and salary? £30m is the most we would pay IMO.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I think 55m is far too much.He ain't worth that and I can't see sir Alex paying that much for him.i dnt think he'd even pay 30m.
I think modric would rather go to chelski to be honest.didnt he say he wants to stay in London during the summer?

Super red

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 002 why did you say "I tend" to agree?
It sounds like your implying that this incident you could see a deal being struck. Maybe I'm looking into it too much.

YankSAW {Ed002's Note - Actually it means I am leaning to one side or the other very slightly. Or it means I am sending out secret messages. I tend toward the secret messages.}

Diouf is attracting interest from French club brest could go either in jan or the summer

Anon

Believable13 Unbelievable0

Diouf is attracting a lot of interest, he will be a prolific scorer for someone on his level, Bundesliga or Ligue 1 would benefit him well.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Syd, i feel for him i think he deserves more time on the pitch whenever i put mutv on he seems to be scoring, its hard for him as he has Rooney, welbeck, hernandez, berba and possibly macheda in front of him think he should get one last loan they we should sell him out of respect to him and his career.

Morrison and United have entered new contract negotiations, last chance for them to shake hands me thinks. Fingers crossed lads & lasses.

Gaz

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking forward to some good news, the only silver lining of all the injuries is that we'll hopefully get to see them play more

Agree0 Disagree0

Well he is apparently keen to clear the air and stay but according to rumours he never bothered turning up for training, he is a law unto himself and will be in the gutter one day thinking why didnt i stay at United, i really hope he stays and sorts himself out though

Agree0 Disagree0

That has to be good news I think surely if both parties thought there was no hope of a resolution then this would not even be happening.
Really hope this has a happy ending.

Devil Dust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brightned up my morning hopefully works out and he stays. Dont know much about him but what people say is good enough for me and he had better take this chance with both hands and cop himself on. Really dissapointed with this transfer window again we dont sign anybody really think finance is our problem

Damian M

Where have you got this from Sydney?

I hope it is indeed true as within 2 to 3 years he could be a top top player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great news Syd! Keep us updated on here if you can!

Agree0 Disagree0

If Morrison is truly a United fan then he will sign, end of. As long as United want to persevere with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Syd (Ed's)

Do we know where this info has come from?

I really hope we tie him down to a long term contract. If we do it means we could do the cleverley process with him. I.e loan him out to get some prem experience.

Newcastle have already come knocking for him so why not sign him and loan him out to them for a season to gain first team exp and also to see how life works at another team which should help him realise what he has here with us.

In fact if they'll have him i would love to see him at Swansea. Their style of play is what i believe we should be using in connection with the conter attcking football we paly. If he keeps in the first tema all year he will be a truely amazing player and defo a cert for the presitgious (though recently tainted) No 7 shirt.

MONK

Agree0 Disagree0

Although SAF is a fan of getting the youngsters out on loan to get some experience I think with Morrison, this option should be avoided. My reason behind this is because I think with his, what seems to be a chequred past and lifestyle, SAF is the only manager who could keep him on the straight and narrow and out of any trouble, and even he is struggling to do that! If he were to go to Newcastle, Pardew I don't believe would keep him out of a party lifestyle and Newcastle being quite a lively City I think Morrison would get sucked into it all.
I agree that Swansea would be ideal club and City to go to but not sure Morrison would like it?
I just think we should keep him in Manchester where SAF can keep him an eye on him and hopefully slowly remove him from the wally's he has surrounded himself by!

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

All I heard was that new talks were taking place, that maybe why he has been quiet on Twitter for a couple of day? I really don't know. Lets hope it's true and he announces something pretty soon.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he could be the best player ever to have graduated from our youth system if he gets his head down and works. A bold statement, I know but he seems to have everything (at youth/reserve level). He's even showed glimpses of his brilliance for the first team, he could and should be a very special player. SAF knows this, I don't see him going anywhere.

Norwood could be going on loan to Royal Antwerp.

Sydney!

Believable7 Unbelievable5

This is good news, I hope he improves. I'm not sure he is cut out for our level but I think he would flourish at a mid-table team.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be good to see a few more players going to Antwerp again, it seemed to do a lot of good for the lads and bought them on a lot. Im not sure why the link hasn't been used so much in recent years.

So, United are not prepared to enter into serious contract negotiations with two of our brightest young stars of the future (Pogba and Morrison) and we are now hearing that whilst SAF wants to make a £10 million bid for Mateo Kovacic, Gill is refusing to sanction spending such a large sum on a 17 year old. This in spite of the fact that SAF has identified Kovacic as the best midfield talent in Europe at his age.

I have always tended to believe SAF that he could have money as required for transfers. I am now beginning to doubt that this is the case - if we cannot afford to keep our best youngsters and to sign a £10 million player, we are at the same spending level as Sunderland, Stoke, WBA etc (with no disrespect to those clubs who operate well on attendances around one third of the number who go to OT for our home games.

Time the Green and Gold campaign was resurrected to get rid of the Yank leeches.

Mike B.

Believable19 Unbelievable6

Mate, don't get sucked in to an unsubstantiated report about a 17 year old who we may or may not be interested in. I have full faith that if we wanted to get the player, £10 million (something we will probably near on raise from the sales in January alone from Gibson, Drinkwater, Diouf, etc.) would easily be relinquished, and it would never be a straight £10 million into Dinamo's bank account anyway, there would be all sorts of clauses and triggers for it to get to £10 million.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

We have no money all the players we have been liked with over the last few years silva agguero benzama ganzo sanchez etc yet we never really make concrete offers instead we get owen on a free and players like obertan and bebe YONKS OUT

Agree0 Disagree0

He will never go for £10m to any club, not because he isn't worth it, but because he plays for a club that bigger clubs can bully. He will end up leaving Dinamo for around £7m and he is a big United fan so lets see.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Again the underlining issue is money. Either we don't have any or we don't have enough and with a club like ours thats quite worrying. Their is definitely some issues in house and truly hope we can get it sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to calculations for the last 6 years, we are 14th in the list of net spending. (city 380m; Chelsea 98m;Sunderland 57m;Stoke 44m; utd 13.5m). OK these figures are affected by the big payment for CR, but it looks like we're already way down the list.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you so caught up with how much we spend? Surley it's the quality we bring in and how we develop them? So in the last 6 years we are 14th? What have we won since 2006?
1 Champions League (2 other finals)
1 FIFA Club World Cup
4 Premier Leagues
3 League Cups
4 Charity Shields
What have Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool won in those 6 years?
I keep saying that big spenders only ensure short term success, Chelsea are prime examples of this.
SAF has bought in young talent so when he leaves he is not leaving us in a situation he was in when he took over with players who were coming to the end of the careers and he had to rebuild the whole squad/club! He is also the best man to get success out of young players so we can be successful now and when he decides to step aside these players will be older and would of experienced what success is making the job alot easier for whoever steps in!
Just my view on it though!

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with mike b lets get rid of the yanks who are sucking every penny out of our great and proud club,we need medium and long term investment quickly

Agree0 Disagree0

Damn straight Ports, well said mate.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

We are actually way below Sunderland and Stoke in terms of net transfer activity!
Both spent approx. 76 million pounds in the last 5 years net, United spent 63 million.
that's almost 20% less.

so yeah, we don't have the spending power obviously, but what worries me more then lack of spending is the fact we seem to be careless with the youth as well.

Can't complain about the track record of the last couple of years though.
I feel like we overachieved in every single season, that's impossible of course, so maybe we are still that good, despite not having the biggest name.
Relying on the spirit big time lately, I guess

Jonny8

I think we still have some promising youngster coming through, but I'd prefer us to keep them all and complement them, where needed, with the best of the best

Agree0 Disagree0

It is only necessary that we spend money to give us midfield strength and craft. Anyone who does not see the need for one or more world class midfielders is deluding themselves that we can cope. I believe we need to spend approx £50 million on two class players or face the consequences of not winning the league or anything else this season. Having said that, I do not believe that we will spend this sort of money
Mike B.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love this notion that people think we are skint and the club is falling apart because we are not making these ludicrous 'big name' signings. If you actually look at Utd's history, even when we had lots of money, we have never gone out and bought superstars anyway! Yes we made a few big name big money signings and they didn't really work out great anyway (Veron et al..). Fergie has the best scouts in the business and will always buy to fit the teams interest!
