United to bid £50m for Cavani. Don't know if its just paper talk but on the back page of tomorrow's Daily Mirror. Not the most reliable paper I know, but just passing it on!

Mad Dog.

Believable10 Unbelievable85

Gotta be April 1st, no way I'd pay £50m for him.

Agree3 Disagree1

Somebody is confusing utd with city. No way we are bidding £50m for cavanni.

Agree3 Disagree0

No no no no no no no no way is this happening lol.

Agree2 Disagree0

Mad dog are u from Bolton?

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah I seen that too but he's not on his radar.
As I said before, any attacking transfers will come down to the Rooney situation.

Melwing28

Agree2 Disagree1

It actually says Moyes to bid £50m for Cavani. Don't shoot the messenger lads, just giving a heads up when I spot one. You will see for yourselves tomorrow, unless its some kind of spoof, but it's got Murrays win & Nadal's defeat on the back page too.

Agree0 Disagree1

Actually melwing, that isn't necessarily true. We need a cm or two and a winger regardless of what happens with Rooney.

Agree0 Disagree0

Melwing, Rooney's situation appears to be pretty much sorted, just a few details to sort out.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is true because if we keep him then we won't be going after a forward or a striker. No top attacking player will want to come and not play.
However this obviously doesn't affect the midfield what so ever

Melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

No not from Bolton why?

Personally think he's a top striker.
But I've also heard this morning Chelski have Agreed a fee with Napoli for Cavani.

Thousands of Chelsea fans descended on Wimbledon yesterday with their placards "Rafa Out". Sorry but this tickled me & I thought I'd share it.

Mad Dog.

Agree0 Disagree0

Melwing we probably wouldn't be going for a big name striker anyway, with Hernandez and Welbeck already struggling to get playing time up front. Those two are good enough to back up rvp, and we also have the young lad we signed last year (Henriquez?). We certainly wouldn't be going for a 50m striker to sit on the bench behind rvp, and I suspect if we were going to go for a someone like Lewandoski, Cavani etc. it would have been last year instead of rvp.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather give Chicharito a chance than spend 50 million on Cavani

Winston

Agree0 Disagree0

Lazy lazy journalism, heres a list of strikers who would cost AT LEAST 20m less and in my opinion are all at least on par with his abilities and would leave us at least another 20m better off.

Higuain
Lewandowski
Lukaku
Villa
Michu
Torres (controversial)
Dzeko

thinking on it, Villa, Michu and Dzeko combined wouldn't cost us 50m haha
not to mention the fact we have at least 3 strikers in RVP, Rooney and Hernandez who are already better and already at the club

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we should pay 50m for Cavani, but Moyes likes big strikers. I wouldn't mind getting him for 20m and Chico (a total of 35 - 40m?). Cavani has scored over 100 goals in 135 games or so since joining Naples. However, I think midfield is our priority, finally replacing Scholes, Keane and Giggs. - Thiago - Fellaini/Bender - Drexler. We could actually stand a chance of doing better in Europe.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get you Mik, you say Strootman is too slow, and yet you want to see us sign Fellaini?

He has poor acceleration, and even when he gets to top speed, he's slower than average for a central midfielder in the premier league.

Does anyone know if the rumours of guNdogans agent in Madrid are true?
He would be a great signing

Believable11 Unbelievable18

If so he must have got on the wrong plane

Just be happy we are in for Alcantara.

Graham hunter has just said that he still expects thiago to join united after advances this weekend. Sounds promising, and he does seem to know his stuff with the Spanish footballers.

The waiting is the worst.
DHK

Agree5 Disagree1

With Thiago away on holiday now, has he already made his choice and now he has left it up to the club's to agree a deal? Graham Hunter says the tax has now been agreed and the overall fee is in the region of £18m.

I could be getting ahead of myself, but if a player leaves for his holiday then usually he has made his decision and he is leaving everything up to his agent/dad to sort out and the two clubs to finalise a deal. Am I being a bit presumptuous?

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree0

No syd.
U r right with your view. Its the same happening as young transfer

Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

You normally are syd but this time I think we have our man fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

No Sydney I think they are fairly sensible assumptions to make. If we're meeting his buy-out clause surely there's very little for the clubs to talk about? Similar to Gotze going to Munich, there was nothing Dortmund could do once the buy-out clause was satisfied.

It all sounds very positive but I won't start celebrating until we get official confirmation. Still. I can't help myself salivating over the prospect of Carrick - Thiago - Kagawa as a central three. has massive potential to be top class!

RedMonkey

Sydney!
I don't think so, I agree. I also think that Barcelona have just accepted that they are having to let go a very good footballer. This isn't another Fabregas or Piqué situation, Thiago is 22 and is looking for a career move. If he joins us, then I can see him staying for at least 5 years. In Barcelona's eyes, it isn't great letting him go but they don't need him and they have realised this. I'm keeping fingers crossed but I think everything is sorted. Nt sure if the Eds can help us out here?
Paul

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you are right Sydney, if the deal has been agreed in principle then it will be for agents etc to sort out the details. Sounds promising but we've been there before and we'll all feel better when the deal is announced. I just can't believe that our Club could be cynical enough to encourage such rumours just to sell season tickets.

Agree0 Disagree1

I don't necessarily mean it's MU, but the team of his choice. Although if we are still in talks with Barcelona then you have to say we are the team he wants to play for. Why else would we still be talking to Barcelona? If only we had confirmation that we were in talks with Barcelona. I think that would explain a lot.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

More or less what I said yesterday, all he had to do is tell the people who matter (his dad) where he wants to be next season then he can enjoy a holiday while a deal is sorted out.

Judging from Mazinho's comments last night, the whole family is moving to the North West.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

I think your right Sydney!, looks like he has decided his option for next season and is now away enjoying bit of a break after U21 tournament before reporting for pre-season.

Unfortunately, all we can do is wait and hope he's decided that we're the team for him.

Been an unusually quiet summer so far with regards to info from the club concerning potential targets, could be a good thing in that they're not wanting to upset the clubs they're buying from before deals are done?.

Either way I'm sure next few weeks will have a few twists and turns but hopefully come start of season we'll all have good reason to smile about purchases!.

Charla

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney!
Do you know anything about the possibility of us re-signing Ronaldo. I read a lot last week about Madrid wanting to raise a fair amount of money before dipping into the transfer market. I can see us making a BIG signing this summer.
Paul

Agree0 Disagree1

Paul, I think the targets are mapped out pretty well to be honest. Garay, Strootman, Thiago, Di Maria/Gaitan and Lewandowski. I cannot see them all happening, especially if we cannot move players on, but these seem to be the targets.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

I can't see anything happening for sure attack wise until the Rooney situation is sorted.
If we still have him, we need to find a place for him, whether it's up front or behind the striker. This will also impact what happens to Kagawas playing time and Chicos for example.

We cannot bring someone in attacking wise until it's sorted.

Didnt he say in the interview before the interview with the match ball regarding his future he was concentrating on the U21 tournament and would then take his vacation and then decide his future? Myabe he has already decided maybe he is simply thinking it thorough while he is away, until any official announcement everything else is simply rumours, twitter itk, the press, websites. There "breaking stories" are all changing every 24hours almost laughably contradicting themselves. I have been hopeful of getting him all along for once, however I think its partly a hope thing as he really is the ideal player for us to sign for me.
Invisible STuey

Agree1 Disagree1

I think the general consensus is that Rooney appears to be staying, so the club can push ahead freely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was going to add something but STuey said it all really, ideal signing, fingers crossed.

Hi, only posted once before but was told something interesting earlier, a friend of mine bought a new kit from the megastore today but when he asked for no 7 and Valencia they said they couldn't as they have been told Valencia would no longer be no 7 but didn't say who would be. Before there's a big ronaldo backlash I don't think it's that but I'm hoping its someone like thiago or another top player wanting to come in and have that iconic shirt and turn the self into an old Trafford legend. Fingers crossed this could mean an announcement sometime soon.

Living in hope

Just checked on Manchester United Megastore website and you can get the Valencia No7 shirt.

I think your mates pulling your leg.

Ok, this OLD STORY is coming round like a boomerang

ITS A HOAX. READ EARLIER THREADS

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't have thought a shop would stop anyone from putting a players name or any number on shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like we haven't heard this rubbish before

Melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Its the same as trying to get cantana number 7 on the shirt the megastore won't print it. so no you can't get anything you want on the shirt although as for the valencia part he is still number 7 so they have to print that as its offical team number.

Agree1 Disagree0

Bulls**t, why would anyone want Valencia on their shirt anyway, good try pal

MR caretaker

Agree2 Disagree0

Brilliant, I've just bought one with my surname and No. 7 on the back. I'd better practice my keepy-uppies. Can anyone lend me some boots?

Agree0 Disagree0

It was down to an error on shirt nothing more, I went in last week and had the same. But you can still buy online and is back own the shelves in mega store now.
