Ed001, presuming Gomez is an instead of clyne for Liverpool what are the options ahead of him now is it just stay at Saints or are united still holding interest?

{Ed001's Note - United still hold an interest, though they are looking at alternatives. He is talking over a new contract with Southampton, if the talks fail I expect them to sell him immediately, probably to United as they are the ones left showing most interest. Though the way Liverpool are acquiring players the last couple of summers, I can't really rule them out of jumping in!}

Great info Ed thanks, do you know who the alternatives are to clyne? Yes Liverpool seem to be doing deals at a great pace last year and this.
On a seperate note, the way transfers work, is it that United are more methodical in their approach and Liverpool are more risqué shall we say or is it just groundwork is done quicker when required? i.e with Firmino.

Thanks for detailed info Ed001 - respect to your side for their ballsy approach to transfers so far (Milner will be great buy) Still think you're missing a Centre Half and a goal poacher though - if you get these, you'll be challenging next year. And so will Arsenal if they get Cech and Schneiderlin. Hope Ed and VG know what they're doing and are quietly sorting everything out behind the scenes.

{Ed001's Note - not sure we are missing a centre half, we just need to get rid of Skrtel and the defence will be much better without him. Cech is a fantastic signing for Arsenal. I fully expect Man Utd to invest too, the money is there, it is just finding the right players to spend it on.}

If you're not sure you need a centre half and you get rid of skrtel then how can u claim like you did the other day that Liverpool have better replacements for the first eleven than United or arsenal? Lovren sakho toure illori. Liverpool clearly need more strength in depth at the back.

Absolutely gutted if arsenal get schneiderlin when if media stories are correct we wanted to come to us but we're waiting about to see if schweinsteiger wants to come when we know how difficult it's going to be to get him surely the sensible thing to do is get schneiderlin in first and then go for schweinsteiger we need both IMO especially at the price being quoted 7.5 mill were on the verge of selling nani plus nani wages would cver schweinsteiger too I just hope we don't get left with LVG golden boy KS

Schweinsteiger would be my preference but I'd of thought it would of been more difficult as apposed to schneiderlin

Right now it looks like he will not get the contract he wants with Bayern, and is open to the possibility of a move, Bayern are unlikely to sell this summer though as it looks like Xabi Alonso will be leaving.}

Agree that Schneiderlin would make our MF stronger - but, as LvG has said he's looking for a deep lying DM to cover/replace Carrick, is Scheiderlin the right player to do this? I always see him as more box-to-box (similar to Strootman).
However, aside from Scheeinsteiger (who probably won't leave BM), who else is there? I'd love to see Javi Martinez there but won't happen.
Otherwise Carvalho or Krychowiak? Anyone else that is a DM and not box-to-box?

Looks like Garay is unlikely to be moving on this summer according to Ed002. Hummels interest seems to have moved on also so Otamendi and Ramos are the next 2 for the full rumour mill for a while.

Didn't LVG say he wanted his Plan A targets in for July 1 if not he would move on to other targets and saying a new no 6 was a priority well with rumours of schneiderlin going to arsenal and other targets going elsewhere like kondogbia witsel and the boy from seville repotedly going to RM and schweinsteiger just using us for a new contract I think woody going to need to pull a rabbit out of the hat by the name of STROOTMAN I think LVG going to see how he's recovered from his injury in preseason and then spend whatever it takes to get the deal done so don't expect a new DM arrival for at least a month posters

LvG has been given the job of winning the title in the next two years.
The Glazers/share holders/sponsors won't sit around waiting if they don't see signs of progress.
At the very least, LvG knows we have to sign a CB, holding midfielder to cover Carrick and a striker.
Anything less will contradict their business plan - and attractiveness to major sponsors. For £750m, Adidas will want more than 4th place and Utd probably gave them assurances that we would achieve success in order to get the deal.

Barca have an embargo and Bayern couldn't pay half the wages we could so I don't see why his demands would go up? "If" we have offered a package, I would be surprised if 99% of the teams in the world could match it.
