Ed's Surely with Fabio possibly heading to Benfica, we are after one of there players? I know Fabio needs regular football but it just seems strange that he could be off on loan to a club which has had several of they're players linked to us?! I know the language thing is a part of it too but this surely must mean we are going for Gaitan or maybe Javi Garcia? Like I said a couple of days ago I was told it was Gaitan we we're after.

United Till I Die 1987 {Ed004's Note - There might be some hidden motive in it. Suppose we probably wont know till closer to the summer.}

Believable7 Unbelievable2

I agree, Usually fergie likes loaning out players to english clubs so they get used to the english game, I think a benfica player will most def be joining united this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully its javi garcia.good player but i think he has just signed a new deal.looks like it gaitan.i m not convinced that we would win what will probably be a bidding war for hazard and i d say he will go to the club that is paying him the most anyway.so gaitan is our back up option.

Agree0 Disagree0

Javi Garcia & Hazard would be two very special buys. However I think we are working on a deal for Gaitan and I think Anderson & Fabio (loan) will be part of the deal. Anderson was a big hit in Portugal and it's where he is happy. I think we will end up there during the summer.

can everyone please make a complaint against the sick facebook page
"i like to munich munich".

facebook have refused to take the page down because they are idiots, so can everyone please make a complaint against it as it will take a lot of complaints for it to get removed.

thanks

A lot people keep saying Clyne is a done deal does anyone know if there is any truth in it as I've only heard it on this site.
I ask because he is being linked to reading
Jred {Ed002's Note - No it is not a done deal.}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Reading is about the standard of club that should be interested in him not us

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumour has it that Clyne has agreed to join us, but cannot announce it til May.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nathaniel Clyne will be a Manchester United player in the summer in my opinion. It's not a 'Done Deal' yet anything in football can change in minutes but it's as close as can be.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one would be happy, for reasons i have stated before but he's been a huge part of Crystal Palace's team for almost 3 years and he's only 20? That's a job well done from his point of view. Rafael is good but gets a bit carried away at some points. The competition would be more than welcome considering how cheap we could get Clyne..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

A huge part of crystal palace for last 3 years? What does that mean ,they're 17th in the league awful defence but you think he's utd quality ? How is he any better than anything we've already got

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't just look at things like that an make a judgement of the player. Watch him you person then i'll bother talking to you..

Ozwald

i have a feeling that man utd will sign MODRIC in a player + money deal......YOUNG could be the player going other way......bcz recent days we are scouting players like -
james rodriguez
gaitan
hazard
all of them plays in left wing!!

Believable3 Unbelievable36

TO be honest i think signing one of gaitan or hazard does not mean a winger will be sold because gaitan and hazard can play in the center and we can just rotate them

Agree0 Disagree0

I think nani will be the one to leave i posted this yesterday, joeyored

Agree0 Disagree0

As above poster said Nani is the one likely to go, IF we sell a winger. If rumour is to be believed he almost went last summer.

If he does go I think it'd be the wrong decision, but I don't expect any wingers to go unless a ridiculous offer comes in

TM

Agree0 Disagree0

I think our feelings are that this is total rubbish

melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Or cud it be that both park and giggs arnt able to play on the wings anymore? Both are past it and if both leave it will leave united with 3 wingers, Fergie like to have 4 wingers at all times. Hence the looking for a new LW.

Agree0 Disagree0

Park was never at it to be past it now. He's a waste of a shirt every time he plays!

Agree0 Disagree0

'waste of shirt' he probably sold around a million of them in Asia.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we can only have one left winger?
Woffsta

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I the only one on here that thinks Modric is slightly overhyped? He is the main man for Spurs in what's is widely known as one of their best teams for years, but, what has he, or they, actually achieved? He very rarely scores (unlike Scholes in his midfield heyday), he is unable to tackle, he doesn't seem to control the ebb and flow of a game and to be quite honest I just do not see what all the hype is about this guy. The alleged asking price of £40M is just outrageous. I for one hope we don't go after him.

ok whats with everyone repeatedly saying "yeah he is young and then has sell on value profit"?.....

this statement is pretty stupid. How often have we bought young players and when it hasnt worked out sold for profit?.

there is talk of Anderson being sold....well look what we bought him for....can ANYONE see him being sold for profit?.

he is 1 example of loads of players that have been bought and lost value.

face It this whole re sale value should NOT enter into the clubs thinking when buying players.

Hazard is great and will get ALOT better for us = thats good enough for me to have him. Who cares what we COULD sell him for!.....same goes for any player

Believable20 Unbelievable3

Remember that Ronaldo guy he had a pretty good resale value no ???

Devil Dust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a 1 off totally.....give me 4 more? in the last 10 years

Agree0 Disagree0

That we HAVE sold maybe not but were we to sell Hernandez, Nani, Smalling, Rafael then we would recoup much more than the initial outlay. Even Nani, who we spent around £17million on would bring in a profit, not taking into account VAT etc etc (I know its a pet hate of Ed002)

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah thats true but its the fact that we arent selling these players is kind of my point. We want to buy players with the aim of just keeping them throughout their careers ala Messi at barca. I really could care less what Hazard is worth and will be worth Hyperthetically If he joined us. If he is our player for 8+ years and is great for us in every way who cares

Agree0 Disagree0

Van the man ,cole ,York teddy , Keane, Anderson, kleberson, Djemba djemba, hinze all sold fOr less or worth less than paid

Agree0 Disagree0

You need to remember that with those players who we 'could sell for a profit' as listed above by TK, we gain a monetary benefit by keeping them for all these years, just from not having to buy a replacement. Each time they sign a new contract keeping them at the club for longer, it is like getting a new player without paying the transfer fee (maybe a small signing on fee). If we signed a 28 yr old for £30m though for instance, he could have little resale value at the end of his 1st contract AND we'd have to buy a replacement (if he's too old by then)

Hazard would be a no brainer though, he's young and going to be class. Even if we had to pay £30m we'd at least get that back at any point in the next 5-8 yrs (if necessary) or benefit from his qualities for years to come if he stayed

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair I actually agree with your point. I dont care what Hazard will cost. Should we keep hold of him for 5-6 years atleast then he would be worth far more than any transfer fee we might get for him due to his quality and the effect he would have on the team. I just felt like chiming in with a few examples of players we could sell on for a profit.

In response to the other poster, Djemba Djemba, Kleberson and possibly Heinze aside the rest gave us some fantastic service and the sell on fee wasnt at all important. Anderson we'll have to reserve judgement on until he leaves.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Why on earth are folk trying to calculate his resale value when we haven't even signed him ? Little that any team buys, sells for a profit at this level. I am more intersted in what value such a player could add to the team than anything else.

Pip

Agree0 Disagree0

The last 2 replies are exactly what I was talking about :) exactly guys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its nothing to do with us as fans wanting to sell him on but the fact is we have owners who may be looking to do so. We're merely speculating as to whether they would see a move for Hazard as worthwhile.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sell a player for more than we bought them for then they must have improved so why would we consider selling. We are supposed to be one of the biggest clubs in the world, we should only sell players when they can't do a job for us, otherwise we are just making the likes of Real Madrid better.

rpc...... Give ya head a shake, do you think a player of Hazards quality would go for 27mill? Add another 10mill to that and you might be close, Like I said."out of our price range" Especially with the owners we have.... HERBIE

Believable4 Unbelievable17

Haha please, you think Hazard will sell for £37m? You're the one who needs to give his head a shake...

rpc

Agree0 Disagree0

You dont all know a thing about prices do you? how do you know how much they want? why is 27 mill too little? jheez get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

If the player, ie. Hazard pushes for a move to Manchester United, the price does not have to be astronomical

A.R

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you're wrong hes not proven in big leagues yet so i think 27million is what he is worth at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe Hazard's official valuation is currently 27 million euros, though a bidding war would undoubtedly push that figure a lot higher.
20 Rising

Agree0 Disagree0

Herbie ur a Herbert 37 million fOr a 19 year old who has major attitude problems who's not great at international level who could not progress from where he is at now.

Agree0 Disagree0

How much did Alexis Sanchez end up going for last year after all that talk of £40m? £26m or so wasnt it?

And he'd played in a better league

It seems whenever a young, new 'star' emerges they're labelled as being worth £40m or £50m but they often go for a lot less in reality (unless City or Real get involved!)

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav ur kinda wrong Madrid pay less for a player than most big clubs would except ronaldo an kaka if a young player wants to go to Madrid and they are interested they make a lower offer than the rest coz tht were the player will go they dne tht with di maria , ozil, kedhira, benzima, higuain, ect..

Agree0 Disagree0

As we have shown before in the past, big transfer fees are available and the money can be found but huge wages can't. This is why we didn't sign snjieder.

Manchester United Fabio Keen on Benfica Move..!!

-United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to farm the 21-year-old out on loan to allow him to gain first-team experience, with Benfica supposedly prepared to offer him guaranteed regular playing time.

"I know Benfica very well. We watch a lot of their games in Brazil. Everybody back home follows them. They're a great team and a move there would be good for me, no doubt about that," Fabio stated to Maisfutebol.

"I do not think that I would have any problems to adapt to Lisbon. I have a Portuguese passport and speak the language. I believe the Portuguese league would be a good step for me. They almost always do well in European competitions."

Despite his promising assessment, Fabio admitted that there is no certainty at this stage that he will leave Old Trafford.

"I have not been in touch with Benfica yet, though. Nothing has been decided about my future. I will know more by the end of the season."

Fabio has made just five Premier League appearances for United in 2011-12.

eds, it says on SPN that the football league have voted to introduce financial fair play for next season, what will this change and what can we expect from this.
thanks.

JK92 {Ed002's Note - Are Manchester United leaving the Premiership for the Football League? That is pretty big news.?}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

I never said it was about manchester united or the premier league ed.
i was just asking what these changes would mean in general, like what will it mean for the teams that are going to be under these new rules.

JK92 {Ed002's Note - Ok, I thought you meant was was the impact on Manchester United, sorry. It means that the amount of money that can be given to a club as a loan (by owners or third parties) will be restricted and losses will be capped - although they know they will have to waive penalties for a number of years or clubs could end up folding. There will subsequently be fall out over wages and players could end up being sold.}

Regarding Hazard.... People need to calm down, there's nothing confirmed and it aint going to happen (unfortunately), the money quoted is out of our price range.... Gaitan again I cant see this happening as it looks to much of a gamble. The only area I can see Fergie spending 20mill + on is possibly Cf/Striker. Clyne is very likely to happen, Hoilett is a possibillity (both relatively cheap and will have sell on value if things don't work out).... As much as I don't like the arrogance of Kloot I do repect his views, a lot of what he says on here makes sense and some people should take his views on board, over the next 2 yrs I believe we will see the old guard replaced by cheaper options which could backfire on us, I also believe we will see a lot of Utd youth promoted to the first team to save on transfer fee's. Massive gamble but who knows better than Fergie? Not me..... HERBIE

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Oh please I'm actually starting to hate people who post a load of b****cks like this. The money quoted (£27m~) is out of our price range? Please, have you actually got a brain?

rpc

Agree0 Disagree0

If Fergie thinks a player is good enough, he will push for the transfer and noone knows better than him and I think the Glazers know this too, so why would they not allow him to spend on something that could help us win competitions, bringing money in and also maybe having good resale value? Fergie can definitely spend

A.R

Agree0 Disagree0

And another thing Barcelona promote many youth players and this has worked to there advantage why cnt it work to ours yet has it gOt to be a gamble ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd didn't spend too much money in recent years but that does not mean man utd does not have the money to spend....for example: we paid £18 m for DE GEA when there was cheaper option like stekelenberg!

Agree0 Disagree0

He only area I can see Fergie spending 20mill + on is possibly Cf/Striker. you must be blind then anything can happen in the summer how could u tell hazard is not coming?

Came across an interesting stat today and one that may influence SAF team choice on Monday night.

Now I know a few people on here don't rate Welbeck or have questioned him recently, whether due to contract situations, fatigue possibly from a long season but Sunday, the understanding between Rooney and himself was like the old Yorke/Cole partnership at times.

Anyway - Without Rooney and Welbeck Starting:
Games 15__Wins 9__Draws 3__Losses 3
Goals for 28
Avg goals for 1.87
Wins % 60
Points per game 2

With Rooney and Welbeck starting:
Games 20__Wins 17__Draws 2__Losses 1
Goals for 58
Avg goals for 2.90
Win % 85
Points per game 2.65

It seems Welbeck could be an ideal partner for Rooney?

Ports

Believable23 Unbelievable2

I like welbeck because i can see all he needs to do is improve his all round play, and his end product. BUt not only that, him and rooney seem to connect really well and are able to bring in other players into attack, Welbeck does alot of running and tracking unlike Berba and Rooney seems to flourish when he is playing alongside players like this. Remember Rooney and Tevez, They were mouthwatering, But rooney and welbeck can be better!

Agree0 Disagree0

1 dummy in the game on sunday.hardly a partnership like yorke and cole.

Agree0 Disagree0

No name,

Your obviously embarrassed by your own comment there as you can't leave a name or your a Liverpool fan.

They had an understanding of who went short and who went long, so not to be dropping into the same position, something that happens when Berba and Rooney play together. The dummy was just a great example that they are on the same wavelength. The stats speak for themselves, these two compliment each other. Like the first poster stated, Welbeck works tremendously hard and does a lot of running of the ball which allows Rooney to pick him out or pick others out.

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck and Rooney have praised each publicly this year quite often which shows they obviously enjoy playing together. Welbeck offers more to the the team than Chicharito because he can actually run on the ball, make a half decent pass and get heavily involved in build up play. Also you have to take into consideration he's about 6"1ft and relatively strong which will be a bonus during set pieces against City.

However i was wondering why we haven't tried Nani out on the left, Antonio on the right with Young slotting in just behind Rooney. Well i think we've tried it once but i would have thought that would allow a lot more dynamic play around the box? Ashley was basically played as a striker behind Bent in 50% of games last season and scored a bunch goals!

Ozwald

Sir Alex has stated 3 signings.

Gotta feeling that Clyne 2m has been sorted.
Rumour has it that The Keane twins will go on loan to Palace as part of the deal.

Gâitàn has also been talked about as a possible signing depending on price.
Fabio loan or Macheda permanent to clinch the deal.

I personally think Fabio will go to either Wigan or Bolton depending on Prem status. To keep a close eye & close to his Brother. Sir Alex also said he needs to toughen up.
He'd have to work more defensively at these clubs.

A lot of talk of a DM or CB
Javi Martinez looks a beast at 23. 28 to 30m
Pricey but @ 15m CB & 15m DM not bad at all even though he can only be in one place at a time. (he has got a younger bro though ;-)

I know, I know :-( Rodwell??? 2yrs younger @18m?
Maybe when he's 23 he'd be a beast swell. worth a gamble.
Cheeky 15m plus Macheda and Brady on loan maybe.

IN

Clyne 2m
Rodwell 15m+ loan players or J.Martinez 30m
Gâitán 22m maybe Fabio on loan

OUT

Kuz
DeLaet
Wootton
Massacci
Pogba - hope not ( Petrucci & Norwood offered contracts)
Fryers? Prob not if Fabio on loan
Berb

Believable4 Unbelievable14

Why on earth would Utd want Rodwell he can't even get in the Everton side most the time

I am believing these Eden Hazard rumours because:

a) we know SAF went to Lille to watch player

b) we then heard what Hazard himself said about SAF and Utd compared to other managers and clubs i.e City

c) Rene came out and talked about Hazard

d) and now SAF is talking publicly which he NEVER does unless something is sorted out already..... Just like he did with De Gea last summer - Madrid were denying everything whereas SAF was the one saying it was all but wrapped up

e) Belgium never qualified for the Euro finals so Hazard is free all summer to come in and have a great and full pre season with us - could indicate why its done and dusted already to get him in and settled the whole summer

I think all these points prove there is more reason to believe these new deal is done rumours than not believe them

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I think Fergie will look to conclude as many deals as possible before the Euros start.

Mad Hatter

Agree0 Disagree0

It all seems to over the top almost, by United' usual standards. However i was thinking why was SAF in France the other day talking on a french radio station? It wasn't in the same trip that he went to watch Hazard so obviously went back over there but why? Maybe he was just visiting his getaway home in the south of France but i thought it's a funny time of year to be doing that? This is a strange one but i'm afraid i can't believe it until it's actually legitimately confirmed!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

If there was anything at all worth knowing Ed002 would have replied to one of the Hazard posts.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Ed002 went to the game last night and wasn't here Syd. Sir Alex Ferguson was in Lyon to watch a number of players in March and Hazard was one. There was a suggestion that Mathieu Debuchy was of interest but Dejan Lovren is much closer to the mark. There has been some broad interest shown in Clement Grenier by MUFC in the past but a little bird tells me Rasmus Elm of AZ is being looked at again.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald,

The interview could have been conducted via telephone, no?

James {Ed002's Note - You all misunderstand. This all happened in Lyon on March 10 - not last week.}

Agree0 Disagree0

How was your night Ed? Was there Catalan businessmen getting irate in the boxes after the final whistle? Lovren looks pretty good and just 22. Do you still believe Rio is playing his final season at the club? I think he really could be with our interest in Dede, Nastasic, Varane & now Lovren. Could the Elm revival be due to Liverpool's recent interest?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - It was a very good night Syd but we had to be at the airport by six this morning to get a flight to Paris so we could get back to England so it was a pretty tiring trip one way and another. If the club can get another season out of Ferdinand they cannot be expecting him to play every week and Dede and Lovren are both high on a list of possible incoming players. Manchester United would not show interest in a player simply because another side does, but there has certainly be interest in Elm recently.}

Agree0 Disagree0

'Oz'

All of the latest Hazard rumours is regurgitated stuff from when SAF went to France in March. None of this is recent. Even Hazard's comments are weeks old.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - We were linked to Elm in November and he is said to want a move to United over any other club so I guess we will wait and see. He would be pretty cheap seems his contract is up in 2013. Not a bad buy for around the £5m mark. If people like Sigurdsson for his shooting then they will like this guy.

Anything new on the Gaitan rumour? Can you tell us the two clubs speaking to Kovacic yet? Thanks Ed.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I understand that it remains true that no firm bid has been made to Benfica for Gaitan but they are aware of sustained interest and clubs talking to his agent. There is nothing to be said about Kovacic.}

Liverpool fan here coming in peace. Heard a rumour come through that is going around in the city (London) that Eden Hazard is sealed €27.2 million. Not trying to wind anybody up. Just what I've been told.

Same source that revealed Capello was walking away from the England job a few hours before.
