Rooney going nowhere, the deal would have been done by now if he was to be sold, there is no way it would be left so late in the window, no chance of a quality replacement.

ED, has any team shown interest in Turan or Adrian of Atletico? {Ed044's Note - From Ed02 on the Liverpool page: There is sustained interest in Arda Turan from Germany with both Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 declaring they would like to take the player and from his former club Galatasaray. Both Chelsea and Monaco enquired after the player earlier in the summer and Monaco has made two bids. An enquiry has also been made by Arsenal and Liverpool has spoken with his agent. Atletico Madrid previously rejected a move from Schalke saying they did not want to sell in January and even now they would ideally like to keep him for at least another year still. However, a bid of €24M would be enough to satisfy his club.
I understand that there was a direct approach from Arsenal to Atletico Madrid in January about Adrian Lopez but nothing came of it. Spurs showed interest in the player during the early summer but their bid was rejected. Whilst Atletico are looking to hang on to Lopez and are looking to have him agree a new contract they are aware that a move away is still possible. Interest has also been shown by Roma.}

So what happened to Garay? some people on here said he was a cert. {Ed044's Note - Apparently they could not agree a price acceptable to both parties.}

It's not both parties, it's all parties. 002 said price was agreed, but agent fees were still to be agreed. Unless Benfica changed their minds and wanted a higher fee? {Ed044's Note - Ok.}

A friend of mine had the opportunity to meet a former German footballer a couple of nights ago and asked him about the Ed Woodward in Germany rumor. He laughed it off but told him that Ilkay Gundogan had the same strategy as Lewandowski and Kagawa to let his contract run down and leave next summer when a year will be left on it. He also said that United had been in contact with his agent and are expected to be the favorites to sign him next summer and that we tried accelerating it to this summer with an enquiry but were met with firm refusal from Dortmund about selling this summer.

This ties in with what 002 has said about him. I think MU should meet his buyout clause. Or make a bid very close to it. I think a £30m bid would be difficult to turn down. Then again Dortmund look willing to pass up €20m from BM for Lew, so perhaps not.
Does anyone know what is buyout clause is?

To be honest that sounds very plausible, I think he is who we are waiting for. Fellaini is a stop gap.

Dortmund say Gundogan has no buyout clause in his contract. That is why it is almost impossible to prize him away this summer.

Don't think we would spend £23+ on a stop gap mate.

I wonder how this would have been effected if we had signed Fabregas. Admittedly I have really wanted to sign a creative midfielder but I'd be willing to wait another year if it meant we would get Gundogan.

Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I meant that Fellaini is a stop gap in the sense that he would solve a part of the problem. Gundogan would be the more creative half of what we need while Fellaini is a bit of steel. My fear is though that if we only get Fellaini we will still need a left back and another central midfielder next year. as well as a potential deal for Ronaldo.
