Press association reporting than fee has been agreed with Madrid for DiMaria. £59.7m. Looks like the deal is all but done.

we NEED vidal or de jong to finish this jigsaw

Agree8 Disagree1

Defence still needs addressing too in my opinion.

Vidal and blind and I'd be happy.

Agree10 Disagree0

We are close to having a good squad again, and I can see Vidal and Blind happening. God what a fantastic window that would be and a timely reminder to the rest of Europe that we are still an elite club.

Di Maria arrives at Carrington: Sky Sports

Believable20 Unbelievable1

Shouldn't it have been announced by now if that was true which its sounding like from varies websites. i'm surprised not to see any picture of him arriving.

Agree0 Disagree1

Maybe you didn't see the pictures.

angel Di Maria has arrived in manchester!

Believable14 Unbelievable2

According to the mail he's at Carrington and they've got to pic up to

Agree0 Disagree0

That was a bloody long flight, the picture of him at Madrid airport was taken hours ago.

25 Aug 2014 22:12:09
Please God, let him be coming to Carrington! It would be such a cruel joke, if his driver turned towards City's ground :)

Agree0 Disagree0

He's just been spotted at carryington StevieK.
No need to panic about the driver misreading the satnav :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame, I'd rather see City waste 60m than us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Waste 60m? You do realise we are getting a world class winger with that money.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's good, but he's not THAT good. Not quite world class.

If we offered that much for Vidal it would have been wrapped up by now, and we need him far, far more than we need an almost-world class winger, especially when we can't realistically accommodate him alongside Roo, RVP and Mata in the same formation.

Eds do you have any info on Nigel De Jong? Will Utd bid for him over the next couple of days?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Nothing with any confirmation. It makes little sense but could be a hole filler.}

25 Aug 2014 22:07:05
Sounds like a position I would be superb at ed. Where do I sign?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A gathering of the tribes man.}

25 Aug 2014 17:46:31
Ed I've just heard an Italian jouno say that with the money Real are getting from Di Maria they may enter the Vidal race. Do you see that as likely instead of them pursuing Falcao? It's obvious Vidal prefers Madrid.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - To be honest, I suspect on Wednesday night it may become clearer.}

Ed knows something! Tell me, TELL MEEEEE!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Folks will be gathering together from tomorrow evening and I am sure there will be far ranging transfer discussions before Thursday. Senior "players" in the transfer business, lawyers, super agents, leeches, owners, directors, marketing folk - the whole gambit. By Wednesday night a lot of side discussions will have happened. MU will have some level of representation - perhaps via a trusted third party. Perhaps Mr Woodward, I don't know.}

Nice 1 ed. Much appreciated

Agree0 Disagree0

Just out of interest Ed what's the occasion with such a gathering?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Champions League/Europa League draw and when those teams that are considering a breakaway, or who might be the teams who "are", get it together.}

Where would he play at Madrid? They just signed Krooz and game Modric a new contract. I would think they would buy a striker.

Ed002, have you been invited to the Super Cup by UEFA?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Super Cup has happened. I The had an invite from the main sponsor but did not go. I have been to Cardiff before but did not go.}

Di Maria landed at MAN airport at 19.49 this evening.

Still could be on his way to Citeh though!

Hi Eds, I was wondering what's going on with Anderson. Reports of interest from both Sporting and Porto but are the talks advanced into bids being made or are they just inquiries. Departures and arrivals are so hushed up at the moment, it doesn't help that Van Gaal is playing mind games with our own fans lol.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Sporting talks have happened - it is hardly hushed up.}

25 Aug 2014 14:50:57
Greetings Ed,

I am sorry if this is a repeat.
Kagawa does not seem to be fitting into LVG's plans (I feel so, anyway). Is he going to be sold?

Thanks!

Believable4 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any thoughts to sell him but if a suitable offer was made I am sure the clubs would consider it.}

25 Aug 2014 16:29:11
"Kagawa did not wish to fulfil my wishes, my philosophy when I played him in the United States”

Looks like there is some beef.

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll get his chance as back up to Mata

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, sell him. i'm as man utd fan felt sorry for him. Very talented attacking midfield just sitting at the bench looks for games. We just wasted the talent. He deserved to play rather than Mr fellaini.

MEN's Rob Dawson believes LvG is purposely name-dropping Vidal, like he purposely name-dropped Di Maria in Detroit.

The question is,Syd,who is it aimed at? The player? The fans? Or much more worryingly Woodward?

Agree2 Disagree1

And what.
Would it not be better to just talk to woodward.

Agree2 Disagree0

Jred

i think he means a way of letting the fans know we might be in for him not a way of letting woodward know

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred - I don't think it was aimed at Woodward. Just as with Di Maria; I think it was aimed at the fans. I still think we will sign Vidal.

Agree0 Disagree1

Or we could be in for messi?

Agree1 Disagree0

1989
So are we also in for messi

Agree0 Disagree0

Woodward knows LvG wants Vidal, we all know that hence the MU/Vidal bids.

It's not the first time a manager has used the media to put his point across.

Agree1 Disagree2

There's three theories flying around and it could be more than one.

1) Putting pressure on the MU board to get the Vidal transfer done.

2) Showing the player that he values him in the same category as Messi.

3) A clue to the fans.

I personally think 1 & 2 are more likely. Also using Di Maria and Ronaldo is telling Di Maria that he sees him as Ronaldo quality. Like he sees Vidal as the same quality as Messi. Anyway it's all a bit of fun.

Agree3 Disagree3

If they did want vidal, surely kagawa and hernandez would close the deal going the other way

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be happy with points 2&3 Extremely worried if it's 1

Agree0 Disagree0

It is more than likely aimed at us (I hope). He said we are missing a Ronaldo or Di Maria and we get Di Maria and now he has said Messi and Vidal so hopefully we get Messi too. We will surely know soon enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you mean Vidal Fresh? Not Messi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred

mate I think your reading to much into this

syds post says what 99.9percent made from the interview

Agree0 Disagree0

1989
I think everyone is reading to much into it.
I don't think there was some secret message imo lvg was avoiding being dragged into a discussion on di maria .
Or maybe messi vidal and di maria on the way .

Does fresh think we are going to sign messi. i'm honestly not sure

Agree1 Disagree0

His attitude is to keep the media out of his and Manchester United's business. We've seen it before in his response to transfer targets and players leaving the club. Of players leaving the club, he says that discussions are between "himself and the player, not himself and the media."

In essence, LVG is keeping his cards close to his chest. The statement is ambiguity. He's made a comment you cannot take any meaning from by giving an answer without giving one. Good strategy in my opinion. Experienced man LVG.

Agree1 Disagree0

One would assume it means LVG is confident pf getting Vidal

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 12:56:13
He eds, do you think we still can get Vidal before the 2nd of September. It has gone quiet lately.

Thanks Danny

Believable22 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Of course.}

26 Aug 2014 05:34:38
I think we will sign vidal cheers Ed002 brilliant as always

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 12:48:09
Eds, do you know of any interest from MU in James McCarthy?

Thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

We should hoping for world class talent not just common talent. Even Cleverly is good talented player just not world class talent. I hope we will sign Vidal. If not better we wait for strootman or De jong before we can participate in UCL.

Ed002.
Can u please let us know if we have any genuine experience cb targets? Other than hummel's as it won't happen.
Any wild card names?

Believable8 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I have explained where I know there has been interest in players this summer: Hummels, Ginter, Benatia, Manolas and Mangala. Others will have been considered and are still potentially available - Veltman, Hinteregger and Savic. There are centre backs up for sale who probably have not been considered but are going to be on the move this week and might prove to be a stop-gap if you don't think the existing players are good enough (e.g. Agger and Basa - although I think a deal for Basa to move elsewhere is just about done). There will be someone from MU in Monaco on Wednesday and there are a lot of folks from other clubs there - perhaps something can be done. Obviously there is no deal for Benatia just yet - get the cheque book out. If Mr Moyes were still in charge I am pretty sure Savic would be a "done deal".}

I like Savic as a player, he is strong and from his watching him at Man city and a little bit at Florientina. I think he would be a good buy. Already has 20 Caps for Montenegro, is only 23 and can play CB or RB plus he has prem experience. Maybe in the future but right now we need someone who is more experience and can properly lead the defence. Out of the players mentioned above Hummels and Benatia would be my preferred choices but with Hummels looking likely to stay at Dortmund and Benatia looking towards Bayern. I think our options for an experienced CB are a little thin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never seen basa but both he and kjaer look pretty strong

Thanks for the info Ed002. Always appreciated.

Would love it if we get the cheque book out for Benatia. Very much a needed signing. The only question is will he give up a season in the UCL and choose us over Bayern.

Perhaps make an offer to Roma that is more than acceptable and blow Bayern out of the race? I can hope.

Hi Guys,
Reports in L’Equipe claim that Angel Di Maria will be in line for a significant pay rise if he joins Manchester United from Real Madrid. We understand that a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, with the Premier League side now in pole position to land the Argentina international despite rival interest from Paris Saint-Germain

Hi eds. Great site. Quick question. When asked about the signing of Di Maria LvG wouldn't talk about it. But asked is Di Maria a good player he said yes, but so is Messi and Vidal. Was he dropping a hint about Vidal or am I reading too much into this. And any news on any CBs joining or do you think our business is done. Thanks Danny

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - you are totally misreading it, he was saying that players out of reach are also good players, so Di Maria being good means nothing.}

MEN's Rob Dawson believes LvG is purposely name-dropping Vidal, like he purposely name-dropped Di Maria in Detroit.
