Do any of the Ed's (anyone else) know if we are looking at Ezequiel Cirigliano???

DRIBAL are reporting that we have bid £5m
but have been told to up the bid by River Plate

They also suggest that we have been informed to pay Cirigliano's buyout clause - £12.5 million - if we want to sign the youngster.

Oxred

Believable2 Unbelievable15

A respected argentian reporter stated on twitter that we put in a offer of 7million but his buy was 15million. River Plate are keen to sell. But the player isn't.

Jason,

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like the sort of player we need puts his foot in and makes killer passes for the forwards wiki says he is now at united and he is 6.3 im guessing the united thing is wrong but does anyone know if in fact he is this big of a man would love to c a yaya toure type player in the middle ps kagawa looks a quilty signing

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL, just read Wiki about him and it does say he plays for us, then half way down says we are interested in him. Gotta love a bit of Wiki...

Is there any word of Rio having a testemional? Dont seem to have any matches in OT before the league starts?

Believable4 Unbelievable16

I heard it will be moved either later in the season or next summer, with the olympics on it was impossible to fit his testimonial in this summer.

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he? He isnt retired?
Q {Ed007's Note - You don't need to be retired to get a testimonial. It is widely recognised that player's can have one after 10 years at a club.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Erm that's because of the olympics bring played there.

Cant stand the gobby person

Ah my bad edd.... I thought it was only when a player was finished with tbh.... A last game if you will.
Cheers though.

we should sell hernandez the boy looks beyond repair and his replacement should be the very talented young serbian striker from partizan belgrade lazar markovic
i think he is 18 and would cost us 7 million euros

Believable15 Unbelievable6

No way we should give him his chance. He's a real poacher. Chicha is like Ole. Best when used as an impact substitute, not a starter.

Agree2 Disagree2

Stop spouting rubbish he is a poacher there to finish 23 goals in 50 odd games isnt bad
go away

Agree3 Disagree1

Come on Bro..just 1 season his not performing & you want to sell him? Give him a chance...I believe Chicha will be better this season...

Agree2 Disagree1

Markovic is going to be better than hernandez ever will be/was if not already he is a similar player to herndez but is much more technical and comfortable with the ball at his feet he will have fellow serbian vidic with him to help him. and at 7 million euros bargain.

and he is also a serbian international at 18

Agree1 Disagree1

Two words bro ... fernando torres

Agree0 Disagree2

7 million euros is a steal

who says no value in the market

Agree1 Disagree0

I think he should be used as a sub only not as starter in any case.. bad touch, bad passing, cant hold the ball. but is a good at scoring ( well lately i have marked blunders in that also, but anyway bad spell comes to every1). after 70 min whn defenders r tiered and not playing offsides properly he can be deadly with his runs. not a bad member to have on squad and/or bench. but definatly not stater. welback is far far batter than him.

rodio17

Agree1 Disagree0

Why do people think all of our squad members must be consistently world-class in every game? Hernandez is a quality fox in the box/impact player. Lets not get on his back as goals will come.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree0

Hernandez is world class! He's had injures this season! When he's fully fit he's top class

Agree2 Disagree2

So i'm guessing your name is Lazar, then? ;)

MPez

Agree1 Disagree2

Hernandez guarantees us 15-20 goals a season when he is fit. That isn't a player we should sell. Even if he is used as an impact player this season he will score goals. He isn't in the team to be a creator and there is nobody in the squad I would rather a chance would fall to.

Rjmanutd

Agree2 Disagree1

See now theres some guff spouted Hernandes scored, I believe 12 goals from 33 matches most as sub, bet he still scored more than Welbeck
Not including injuries which he seemed to have all the time bet 75% of prem strikers dont beat 12 goals a season

Pardoe

Agree2 Disagree0

I've been one of his critics saying he has to improve other parts of his game in addition to his goal poaching, but to say he's beyond repair is taking it a little too far. I wish one of the "journalists" would ask SAF about his seemingly stalled development. If everyone here can see how bad he is anywhere but the 6-yard box, certainly SAF and Co. must be aware of this glaring absence in his game. -KG

Agree0 Disagree1

'Beyond Repair' LOL I never knew he was broken... Chicharito's gnna be a ledge, stop hating!

BBR

Agree1 Disagree0

Author of this thread is quite correct. The player is nothing but a flash in the pan - cannot play in open field, falls over like Park (rip), and however lethal he was on arrival he is simply detumenscent in front of goal. Time to face reality chappies!

JS Bach

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus also, what exactly has markovic done to warrant this praise? I'm pretty sure he's not in his national squad and if he has hasn't scored many. Look up Hernandez's record mate.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Cop on you toolbag. Chicha is quality. He works his socks off for the team and is a massive favourite with all the staff at OT.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's looking pretty distant and unhappy recently not the same smiley player we knew. Still give him another season any day.

Tomr

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanshine

not saying we should sack off Chich, but I'm half serbian, and try to watch as many red star games as possible, and as much as it pains me to say this, Markovic does look like he could be excellent.
Also he made his national team debut when he was still 17 (i think) and no matter what country you play for, that is a remarkably young age

Jaxer

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is every body is saying sell young,Chicha,Nani..whats your problem mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh my days bruv u chattin pure s##t well sell Chico that boy wit Rooney up front is a killer even at start of games only prob I c is gettin welbeck on the pitch too as his quality an really y sell nani ppl given young stick too we need players wit pace not donkeys I'm saying if we get moura then we will b winning things in season coming

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow amazing you should replace saf immediately, think maybe quite a few should leave before chico

Agree0 Disagree0

Jaxer

Agreed he's a talent, but why would we sell someone who has guarenteed us goals, important goals at that for an untested youngster who actually wants to go to Chelsea? My national team comment was merely a comment on scoring not age.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Little pea was too tired last season to much trav will be alot more fitter this season 2o + goals

Believable11 Unbelievable33

Agree0 Disagree0

Robin Van Persie will be our new no 9 coming next week. You heard it here first...

Sammy_THEREDDEVIL

Believable34 Unbelievable56

Wel sammy that's a bit of a statement but answer me this if we do pick up Lucas Moura would the 20-25mil we will spend on RVP not go to better use for another player in another position I know I'll get slated for this but I recon for that money we could get sneijder wit similar wage we have enough strikers but he could be the final price to an amazin lookin midfeild

Agree0 Disagree1

Bloody hell not sneider again. how about cleverly petrucci powell getting a chance this year in the middle with scholes ando , carrick giggs valencia nani young and kagawa not bad across the middle.? moura and rvp are both overpriced.

Agree1 Disagree0

I really do fail to understand why we are even in for Van Persie. How does this guy represent 'value in the market'?

Don;t get me wrong, Van Persie signing is hardly a bad thing, it just doesn;t fit in with what Ferguson has been saying for the past few years, espeically when you add in his age.

MDJ

Agree1 Disagree1

Well i'll explain it to you my friend, firstly we will not be spending 20-25 mil on Van Persie, it will be much less than that. Coz if we were gonna spent that kind of money he would have been in our pocket long ago. He will cost us around 17 mil max. So 32 mil for Moura + 17 mil for RVP = 49 mil. Which is the kitty SAF has. And i dont think there will be more signings in midfield coz we already had bought Kagawa & have carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Cleverly. I think Kagawa, Young, Powell will be our CAM options + Rooney can paly the free role too in the midfield. With Anto, Nani, Moura on wings. RVP upfront.

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeah, that explained nothing.

MDJ

Agree2 Disagree1

Moura will be the last signing in an attacking option if he signs, we have more than enough midfielders and strikers for next season, but we are running low on full backs! Midfield options being Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Cleverly, Young, Kagawa, Powell, Nani, Valencia, Anderson, and he will bring in some of the younger talent like Jesse Lingard who reminds me slightly of an Iniesta type player, and also Petrucci and Tunnicliffe. Our attacking options will be Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Macheda, Berba (if he stays) and Bebe, say what you want about Bebe but he has played exceptionally well on the pre-season tour, and personally I think he has more about him than Hernandez. We lack options at full back, with only Blackett covering LB, I don't think Brady is up to playing in the BPL just yet, and at RB we have Rafael with no RB by trade to cover, although we have players such as Valencia, Jones and Smalling that can do a good job there. There is no place for RVP unless we get him on the cheap.

Jake F

Agree1 Disagree0

Sammy

Yeah mate you're the first one to say that.

Kai

Agree0 Disagree1

Source?

Agree0 Disagree0

We NEED another striker; if Rooney was injured for any length of time then we would be in the deep brown stuff without a hope of a paddle. Tunnicliffe, Lingard with Scholes, Anderson and Carrick means we do not at the moment need extra centre mid players. RVP would be pure class, add Kagawa with a possible Moura then we could be looking at a very exciting season. Here is hoping we get the two of them
JR-Red {Ed004's Note - Also Cleverley in there as well. He had a few top performances at the beginning of the season, him alongside Carrick who had an awesome end to the season}

Agree2 Disagree0

Thanks Ed for picking me up on Cleverley, totally agree.
JR-Red

Agree1 Disagree1

There's no way RVP will cost less than 20m. Moura will cost at least 30m, thats a toatl of 50m, and we'll have great attacking options upfront and on the wings. However, our midfireld is made up of untried kids -Petrucci, Powell, Tunniclife etc, the over aged, Giggs and Scholes and the average Cleverley and Anderson, when they are not injured. That leaves Carrick. Now Cleverley, Scholes, Petrucci etc will be good for a few games (Scholes) and the Bench (Cleverley and Anderson).Maybe Petrucci or Powell or another teenager may come good, but it's not something that can be banked on. I would loves us to get Moura, he's truly exiting, but I don't want RVP and in truth would be happiest if we spent on a couple of midfielders and a left back. 50m could buy us Eriksen, M'villa and Cissoko, which would give us a more balenced squad. Nani, Valencia, Young, Moura, Rooney, Kagawa, Wellbeck etc are nothing, if there's no one to win the ball and distribute it to them. I guess Moura, Dembale and Baines would be good, but can't see us spending 70m+. There is only one way for us to spend that much while the Glazers are here and that is through sales. Berbatov 5m, Anderson 7m, Young 18m, Hernandez 10m, thats 40m plus the few million we've already bought in. That means the Glazers would need to cough up 25-30m.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously how can people keep saying we don't need anymore in midfield? Last season has shown our cm is simply not good enough with teams like everton walking through our midfield. We need a player like Toure to play alongside clevs/ando or it's going to be same again this season. We all love giggs and scholes but they are simply not good enough anymore

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with last post the centre mid area is definately the weakest area of the team. Witsel, moutinho, mvilla, martinez, eriksen. I would prefer it if one or two of these players were signed rather than moura

Agree0 Disagree0

Jake F - you can not say that Bebe has been exceptional against that would play in the conference if they were English

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, I heard it here first after i heard it from loads of other people first.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any money says he doesn't

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

No matter what team you are playing, at professional level, you have to show some skill, look back when we nearly got beat off Crawley Town when the were non-league! Our main concern in midfield last season guys was injuries, but with fully fit players we have more than enough options especially with the youngsters coming through too.

Jake F

Agree0 Disagree0

We do not have enough strength in midfield. The only first team midfielder with any significant tackling/ball winning abillity is Anderson, and that tells you how bad it is. Our midfield showed again and again that they can't take control of the game against decent opposition. We were shakey against every good team we faced, and the only reason we did well is that our defence and attacking players are that damn good. How people can say we NEED RVP or Moura is beyond me, when the attacking players we had did well enough last season to make up for a seriously weak midfield. Personally I'd skip RVP altogether, and while Moura would be a nice signing, he's not essential to our abillity to compete.

RVP for 25-30 mill, u having a laugh !!!

Believable10 Unbelievable29

I think RVP is a world class striker, yes his injury record is not good and it would be a gamble to take him for more than £18m. The advantage that we have is a) We don't need another striker even with Owen gone and Berbatov going we still have cover. b) We are his preferred choice.
I think it's worth a cheeky punt of £16m/£18m take it or leave it and we'll move on if they say no.

Lucas Moura's agent says he has been instructed to keep 'negotiating' with
Manchester United by the midfielder, but the Brazil international would also be happy to stay at Sao Paulo.
United have been strongly linked with a move for Moura and Sir Alex Ferguson
confirmed on Monday that talks have been held regarding a deal for the 19-year-old.

"The player is my boss, I always talk to him," Ribeiro told Radio Globo.
"He determines what I do, my objectives. If he says that he doesn't want to leave Sao Paulo, I won't even listen to the offer.
"He told me to keep negotiating when I talked about Manchester United's interest.
"It's a great offer. If it was an irrecusable one, he would leave, but he is happy at Sao Paulo too. If he stays there, life goes on."

I think their main priority is trying to rid themselves of their leeches (Ade, Bridge etc.)

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion city have spent big over the last few years an now have a team full of superstars wit an average wage of 100 grand a week due to FFP coming in an there profits not being Wat they should be they will have to sell no doubt about it I expect them to sell maybe 3-5 players an bring in maybe 1-2 players how they can pay 20 mil for a player one season an sell him for less a year later is beyond me but they will have to to reduce there overall bill. United have had the FFP in mind for a while now an are building on it not over spending but spending smartly plus our net profits are really good . Plus Lucas says he wants us then we will have him silly agent could have blew it don't be surprised if he is sacked by the boy an his father .

European governing body Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations mean all clubs must restrict their losses between 2013 and 2015 to just £38m. To put the size of that task into context City lost a staggering, record-breaking £194.9m in 2011.

They had a wage bill of £174m at that time and have since added more expensive players. The average weekly wage is now said to be £85,000.

When those results were announced last autumn, City’s chief operating officer Graham Wallace said: “Our losses which, we predicted as part of our accelerated investment programme, will not be repeated on this scale in futureâ€

Agree1 Disagree0

Regarding Lucas's agent it is his father so cant see him sacking his self {Ed002's Note - Just going back a couple of posts somehow someone has let through a post about the FFP rules which is incorrect - just ignore it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Them winning the title has given them a false idea that their team is better than everyone elses if they lost last year they would go on a spending spree buying everyone eg. they would have already snapped up modric, rvp, etc. i actually am happy they won because now they get to keep their clown of a coach and we realise we need to improve our squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares?...this is a United forum not bitter blues.....

Agree1 Disagree0

They won the league so their squad is better than everyone elses, the table never lies but i hvae no doubt we'll bring it back home next season

Agree0 Disagree0

They won the league with the same amount of points as united everyone always seams to forget that

Agree0 Disagree0

Put simply money is not the big factor now . It is meeting the FFP regs . City are in big danger of being the one UEFA will pick on when they don't meet the criteria . Make no mistake Uefa are not fond of English clubs doing well in European competions . Utd are well placed to be an even bigger success now that Real , Barca , City and Chelski can't buy all the worlds top talent without having to watch their books very carefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2012 22:31:11
Eds', the people in this lil thread are under serious impression that the forthcoming FFP regulations will be hard hitting on clubs and that the richer clubs (if they dont get thier books in check) will be suffer immensely, however i do remember one of the ed's explaining that this may not be the case as their is some serious loop holes and that regulations may not be lead with a hard approach. can you u maybe indulge once again. {Ed002's Note - I don't know which Ed said about loop holes but those hit the hardest will be the high spending low income clubs.}

Due to Maura's contractual situation which is well documented , it is unlikely that this story will run throughout the transfer window and should be resolved one way or another by next Tuesday. I would expect United to make one more offer close to the July 31st deadline and it will then be a straight forward yes or no from Sao Paolo.
Raffa

Believable15 Unbelievable9

I am not convinced this will all be settled by next Tuesday, but can see us making one more attempt at signing him before then. Sao Paulo need to be careful because we could pull out for good at any time and then the club would struggle to get a similar amount for him in the future with them losing 30% of the transfer from Tuesday onwards.

Sydney!

Why is july 31st a 'deadline' ?
