Syd that's only benficas cut, they get 40% and rm get 50%. There's talk also they benfica have ccut the fee due to the outstanding balance of witsel to zenit.

It is annoying, when United were asking about him, the price was £20 million, then they sell him for £5-6 million.

I would have been happy with him but I think we need to accept that he is not in Van Gaals wish list and trust who he brings in.
Also, if the annual reports of us being interested you have to wonder whether there are other issues with the purchase. who owns him etc.

Yeah it has been confirmed on the zenit website. He's pretty decent from what I have seen. Bargain.

Shame that one , Garay may have given us some stability at the back. still think Smalling or Jones are not world class just yet. Hopefully the Herrera deal is the first of many , and hopefully Van Gaal brings a big broom with him and sweeps the crap outta the back door. Young,Cleverley , Fellani , Nani. And one last word on Buttner , sorry to read his remarks , I thought he did ok with the playing time he got , but don't bite the hand what fed ya mate. A little childish in my eyes. Jones has the chance of being a great defender but Smalling should either be loaned out to play in his preferred role regularly or sell him.

Mre - Why would Benfica lower the fee as result of already being owed money from a previous deal? Surely if there is still an outstanding balance on the Witzel deal they would be inclined to ask for more?

Red that's what I meant to put. It sounds a complicated deal any which way which is probably why we went nowhere near it.

Smalling is no good, like bambi on ice, no confidence playing a simple pass always see his arm signals and he panicks

I think Van gaal will keep him at utd and try and get him to half decent player. young is the 1 he will let go.
