Manchester United Rumours
Anders Lindegaard, the Denmark international goalkeeper, has flown into England to complete his £3.5m move to Manchester United from the Norwegian club Aalesunds.

Lindegaard is due to take his medical examination tomorrow (Fri) and, if everything goes according to plan, a deal will be concluded for him to move to Old Trafford at the start of January.

The 26-year-old will initially join as understudy to Edwin van der Sar but will have the chance to take over on a permanent basis if the Dutchman decides to retire at the end of the season, having recently turned 40.

Rumour coming out of Italy is that United maybe using Macheda as part of a deal to bring Buffon to United. I for one would love to see him at United as he is one of the worlds best.
I can't say i have heard that rumour but think there could be some truth in it. .fergie had struggled to find someone to fill schmeichels boots til VDS came along at the same age as buffon. . SAF in my mind will be thinking along the same lines again n will want someone with vast experience whom he knows can just step right in BLACK PEARL

""Rumour coming out of Italy is that United maybe using Macheda as part of a deal to bring Buffon to United. I for one would love to see him at United as he is one of the worlds best.""

@Sorry mate but i have to disagree, Buffon is 33 and compare to Van Der Sar that is young, but not all keepers can play at their best until their 40. We may only get 2-3 years out of Buffon, he also may not settle and leave sooner?

De Gea, Akinfeev, Neuer are all early 20s and have a minimum of ten years in front of them. I they fail to impress they will have a sell on value. Buffon is too old and although he was class and may have a couple years of class left in him, he is not value for money. He is also very injury prone!

Sydney! {ed's note - Buffon has a back problem, he will always have trouble with it, I seriously doubt he will play until he is 40.}

A lot of people don't realize we have a striking crisis at the moment. Fergie will suprise a lot of people with his signings in that department.

Rooney - Out of form, won't be the same player.
Berbatov - Not a striker, wastefull and slow.
Macheda - Does not take his first team chances.
Owen - Gone come May, simple as.
Hernandez - Great prospect, only one I have faith in.

Macheda to be loaned for first team experience.

Berbatov to be given the rest of the season to perform, if not he will be shown the door (hopefully).

SAF always said United work best with 4 forwards, we currently have 1!

Ed do you think that part of the reason SAF is currently recruiting a lot of young players is because he is building for the future and his eventual successor rather than bringing in big names for big fee's that when his replacement does come may not want at the club therefore making them too much of a gamble.

{Editor's Note: United have always bought young players through - some being discarded if they don't make the grade. Whilst he will be thinking about the future of the club any thoughts of a successor will not be in his mind. Certainly he is never not going to move for a player because his successor may not like the player.}

Do you think it could be Gill and The Glazers position then, trying to build up a transfer kitty for his eventual successor. Please don't anyone mistake this for me wanting Saf out as of course that isn't the case. Just it seems there is money available, players available and positions that need straightening but a reluctance to do it, for whatever reason.

{Editor's Note: I don't think there is any issue. The transfer window is closed right now. Money does sit in the business and I am sure that if Sir Alex Ferguson wants a player and makes a case for a player then United will do what they can to sign him. Certainly it is not an area where the Glazers will interfere. You are worrying for no real reason as far as I can see.}

Anyone else have any thought on this?? ?

The striker who plays for catania is takiyuki morimoto, kaka called him the most talented youngster in italian football. We've tracked him since he played in some youth cup played at old trafford when he was 17.
Shappy {ed's note - so which one is it that they call the 'Sushi Bomber'?}

David De Gea pledges future to Atletico: source Goal.com

"The fans can be assured that I am staying here. This club has given me everything. I am delighted and very happy at Atletico and I will stay here.

"It is a tribute to hear of a great team like Manchester United being interested in you, it is nice, but I feel very calm at Atletico and I see no reason to leave. The club is great, and hopefully we can make beautiful things happen here. I have a lifetime ahead of me."

De Gea had previously been linked with a €17.5 million move to Old Trafford next summer.

I've been brought up for 36yrs with players saying "only club I ever wanted to play for". . every Eire international coming to Celtic (boyhood heroes). If De Gea said that, he will be at OT in summer probably. Footballers are sneakier than a bag of monkeys lol

Also, De Gea was only talking about not leaving in January. He said nothing about next summer. So I can still see him at United next summer. However, SickBhoy is right. Players can't be taken too seriously in the interviews they give. Remember Ronaldo? "Cristiano, will you be at Manchester United next season?" Reply-"I am very happy here. I will be here next season".
This was said despite there being a deal already in place from that previous summer. So don't take De Gea's comments seriously!

Editor - What do you know about the Japanese fella United will try and sign this winter? {ed's note - is he the striker who plays in Germany for someone like Hamburg? If so he looked a decent player when I saw him, but I just wonder why he wasn't playing up front for Japan in the World Cup? Was he injured? If not it must be a worry that Honda playing as a target man, even though he had never done that before, was seen as a better option.}

He plays as a striker for Catania, he only has two years left on his contract and should cost us 3-5m.

Manchester United will sign two players in January, Anders Lindegaard & Takayuki Morimoto, both will cost under £10m. Kiko Macheda will be loaned out.

United will try and sign Jordan Henderson & either Alexis Sanchez or Ganso, we are also looking at Valbuena & Gundogan.

I can confirm Kuszczak will be shipped out in January as him and sir Alex have exchanged words. He is not even our reserves keeper, he has no status, Lindegaard is 100% being brought in to replace the unhappy Kuszczak and will be tested between now and either this summer or next summer depending on when Van Der Sar hangs up his gloves to see if he can cope with being our number one.

So whether or not we sign another keeper as well as Lindegaard depends on when Van Der Sar retires. I believe he will be offered an extension.

SickBhoy

Sickbhoy - Totally agree with you 100%. Read between the lines of this statement and he's covered all angles. If he moves to Man Utd it'll be because Athletico have received an offer they cannot refuse, and in the eyes of the fans, De Gea has left even though he's stated his love for Athletico. Also he's nicely tucked into that statement that it's a tribute to be linked with United, which to more sounds like a covert 'come and get me' plea without upsetting anyone and jeapodizing his relationship with the Athletico manager, staff and more importantly the fans.

Very clever statement indeed, and kudos Sickbohy for reading between the lines.

Possible summer signings for Man United:

Javier Pastore: Man United need an attacking, creative midfielder, and Pastore is the best young player there is in that position and United are known to be very interrested. Could cost around £35 million.

David de Gea: Man United need a great, young goalkeeper, and de Gea is the best properly young keeper there is so very likely especially as United are definately inerrested in signing him. Cost £17 million.

Thoughts Ed

{Editor's Note: Pastore is a good player but interest from elsewhere will make him very expensive indeed. It also depends where he wants to move to. As I have said many times, I do not expect De Gea to be moving to Old Trafford anytime soon. Igor Akinfeev still strikes me as a more likely option.}

Editor have you heard any rumours regarding United? Also according to your sources, do we have money to spend this January & summer? A decent amount i mean?

{Editor's Note: Like all major clubs Manchester United will strengthen if they need to, if the right players are available, and if those players add something to the squad. I would not expect any significant changes in January. Within reason, money will be available.}

Editor do you believe the Glazers would fund 20m+ for Ganso, 20m for Sanchez or 30m for Pastore if Fergie asked for one of them players? {ed's note - only if entirely necessary, in other words if someone leaves.}
