Manchester United Rumours
I expect it to be a total of around 20-30 million with sales out added on top.

we know the retiree's will clear a massive amount off the wage bill making plenty of space for the new arrivals.

I'd prefer to see De Gea as keeper but do expect to see 2 signed as Edwin retires and Kitkat gets sold. Probably expect Lindegaard in the winter window, but is he actually any good or just the cheap option?

Nobody in defence as yet although if Rio breaks down again does anyone think there is the possibiity of a Larry White type signing as temp cover? ?

Personally i'd like to see Wes and Rafa rotate right back for the rest of the season

I'd expect Defour in the winter window as well. And possibly Afellay/ Honda or Sanchez, depends on Gill's negotiating skills.

I don't expect to see Schneijder, he's turned us down before remember when Calderon was tapping up Ronny he floated the idea of a swap as Sneijder shot the idea down, so i don;t expect him now.

to recap

January in- Lindegaard, Defour, possibly Afellay/ Honda.

July in - A N Other keeper, possibly Sanchez.

Outs would be the retiree's, Hargreaves, Carrick and Owen plus a few lads like Chester/ Drinkwater etc.

Robert the Red

Any comments? ?

Manchester United Rumours
Every one knows uniteds main issues are GK, ACM and LW due to retirements off VDS, Giggs and Scholes there are secondary worries with RB, CD and DCM but Fergie thinks these can be covered short term with youth and reserves therefore his main JAN targets are

GK Neuer - 12mill (team not doing well and has started to voice his desire to leave)
CM Honda - 18mill (talented playmaker)
LW Podolski - 14mill (performances at WC show he can play this postition and score goals)

Potential team from jan 4-3-3

Neuer/VDS
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher
Carrick Honda/Scholes
Nani Podolski
Rooney

However it is expected Rooney will be sold in Jan for approx 70 million to Man City (deal was to save face for Rooney and provide best profit for club who have always supported him despite several seedy stories)

as a result in summer fergie will look to

LW/RW Sanchez 16 mill
CF Hulk 14 mill
CM Diarra 5 mill

total 80 million so with expected sale's will see outlay of only 10 mill

Man Utd January Targets are simple:

GK Andres Lindeegard Or Another Keeper
CM Steven Defour

That's it - just targets we've got wingers, we've got strikers - we need a creative midfielder and a replacement keeper

Jan/Summer Clear out

Tomas Kuschaq - Can't get EVS out of GK
J Park - not really pushing himself forward
Danny Welbeck - @ Sunderland not really living up to his potential, but who knows
M Carrick - Too inconsistent
O Hargreaves & M Owen depends on there ongoing injury
Anderson - Failing to capture the Anderson from Portugal

United are full of youth talent and as mouth watering as some deals sound it's being realistic. SAF is been working on a youth set up so when he retires he's left behind a strong United

Defensively We've got a good set of youth coming through Rafael, Smallings, Evans and Fabio
Midfield so far lacking some creativity.

I personally think depending how this season ends we might see a huge change in midfield.

Goalkeeping huge concern at United Kuschaq just not good enough to knock Edwin out of his spot.

Strikers We've GOT
Rooney - He's got to make it up to us fans
Berbatov - Too much investment put in to him SAF will not let him go
Bebe - Haven't seen much
Hernandez - Star in the making
Macheda - Needs to start playing
M.Owen - Injury
M. Diouf - @ Blackburn - lets see him at Utd
D. Welbeck - Not seen much of him at Sunderland

You really think we need more, we just need our team to hit 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th 6th Gear we are stuck in 1st at the moment.

Sir Alex couldn't have made it any clearer that the problem wasn't with Rooney, it was with Paul Stretford his agent and the man Fergie obviously sees as the trouble. Stretford has got himself in trouble before and sailed very close to the wind with some gansters. Lets hope for him that Fergies words don't fall on some of Salfords finest as it would make for a very uncomfortable time for Mr Stretford. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Do you guys really think Bale would stay at spurs if united agreed a fee?
Cmon he would move in an instant. Giggs is his hero and every young player wants to play under SAF. He is the only one of your guesses i CAN see at united in the near future. Forget Ribery, too much and would want Rooneys wages cos. . well hes a di*k.
Afellay i quite fancy on the cheap but i think SAF may have one or two things up his sleeve

Everyone on this site keeps suggesting players such as Sneijder, Schweinsteiger, etc, etc. and I just don't think it's going to happen in my honest opinion.

I think that there is money available in January/Summer to improve the squad, but the last thing we want to do is pay £20m for a player, than have to pay £30m over 5 years on wages. Therefore I think we'll buy players who's wage demands won't stretch us:

Defour (Initial £12m, possibly £35k week wages)
Lindegaard (Initial £4m, possibly £20k week wages)

I think even Alexis Sanchez would command a wage of around £70k a week - that's even before the likes of Chelsea, City, Real and Inter get involved and his demands get even higher!

Schweinsteiger would command near £100k week quite easily - and would get it somewhere is europe.

When SAF talks about 'value' he's not just talking about the initial transfer fee - he's talking about wages also.

Ed - what's your thoughts? {ed's note - I disagree, a player like Sanchez would sell a lot more merchandise, that would cover his higher wages and maybe even his entire wage. The talk about value is just a way of keeping expectations down, there is always value out there.}

"Answer - No I don't agree. I watched Sneijder and thought he was a very good player and couldnt believe they sold him."

As i said you will say that now since he has been doing well after real madrid, but our midfield was much better than sneijder in all departments, keeping the ball, passing, assists, controlling the match etc. He was certainly not looking a manchester united player or somebody we NEEDED to buy in that year. Anderson's and fletcher's performances and even carrick's were better than his at real.

"Answer- I felt Carrick was found out in that game and hasnt been a regular since. If our team fell to bits when a goal went in that is very poor team spirit."

It ain't poor spirit but just the lacking of tough tackling roy keane style midfielder or the battling of darren fletcher that was lacking in that game. Carrick attempted some ambitious passes in that match and those were needed considering the fact that our game was very slow. At least he tried to do something different.

"Answer- If Valencia and Nani are our two wide players then I don't believe we will win the league or get to another European cup final for some time. Having seen Nani trying to cross from the left today he struggled. Fantasy teams don't always work but if we don't have quality then start enjoying having to scrape into the top 4. "

And on what logic is this theory of yours based? OR just because you believe we must be spending crazy 30mil on ANOTHER tottenham player (you seem to be not liking our tottenham buys don't you) who has had a decent second half of last season and played about 3-4 good games this year? And about nani's crossing today, well why don't you watch his crossing from the left last year, or the match against arsenal in in which we thumped them 4-0? He runs right backs ragged with his change of pace, and with valencia on the right wing providing regular crosses he can afford to be given a more free role in the team. And as i said, evra makes up more than enough for the left footed side on the left wing. He is forward on almost every attack. What we know about valencia is he will give you at least one or two crosses in a game which will be clear cut scoring chances and after his last years' performances i don't see any need to remove him from the right wing.

"Answer- Berbatov is not good enough, when was his last goal? What I mean by agressively ambitious is that we need to buy several top players. If we sit on our cheque book again then we will start sliding down the league. I don't suggest a new team or that we don't develop our kids but the kids need to be good enough and we have bought too many "take a chance" £6 to £10M players. If we want to win the league or even have a fear factor then we need at least 2 quality players. We cannot go on the pitch where the only player the opposition fear is Rooney.
We ended up with Berbatov because Fergie made a mistake , then he compounded it by still persisting with the flop even pushing Rooney's nose out of joint to do it. He kept the flop and hacked off Tevez. Our problem with money has been compounded by Fergie's response to the Berbaflop error.
If we get a couple of top level kids out of the crop then great but we need to buy some quality as well otherwise top four could become difficult and Rooney really will be off somewhere else ."

Well berbatov's last goal came against a Liverpool, in a legendary hat trick. He certainly is good enough. As for SAF making a mistake, well each and everyone would have wanted berbatov at united looking at his form for tottenham. He played well yesterday and did start the decisive move. Berba is certainly not a FLOP. As for hacking tevez, he wanted out long ago mate, nothing to do with fergie. He wanted more money which is what he got at city. When you are in a team like unite you are going to get pushed to the bench if a new player arrives and you have to believe in yourself to be on the teamsheet. I never saw solskjaer complaining, even though he scored so many goals!

As for qualifying for the top 4 would be difficult without buying BIG is a Myth in which only you believe. As far as i know arsenal have not spent anywhere near the amounts the others have and are comfortably in the top 4. Being aggressive in the market has never brought any team success on a consistent basis. Real madrid is an excellent example and so are barcelona with flops like ibrahimovic. Its ultimately the 6-7mil signings that have proved to be good and consistent for united over the years. Chicharito and smalling aren't bad buys by any means. We were quite aggressive in buying them. As for top players bale is still 'potential top player' whose price is way over the odds. Sneijder is a good player but i would rather see a fletcher, anderson, defour or fletcher defour and cleverley midfield for united. If we buy sneijder well and good, but can be just as good without him. We need to buy sensibly and not aggressively. I get more excited with a under 10mil signing or a signing like valencia or nani rather than a guy who will come in with a 30mil pound price tag. Just a few ok games for him everybody including you will be on his back saying how he is a flop and we should sell him, but a signing like chicharito who does not come in with that circus settles in gradually.

The only BIG buys if they ever happen which i will be excited about if they happen will be iniesta, xavi or messi but i don't think there is any chance of them leaving barcelona no matter what stupid money we throw at them.

"umm barca did has a left footed winger a certain mr lionel messi"

Are you serious mate? Messi plays as a striker for barcelona. The debate was about having a left footed left winger and messi is certainly not one.

We should be looking at Ramos for Neville, Sneijder for Scholes, Schweinstiger for Giggs, why not?"

@Why would we want Schweinsteiger to replace Giggs? Schweinsteiger is not a left winger, hes a central midfielder.

And the reason why not is because we cannot afford these players and players like Ramos do not want to leave their current teams.

In Repy;

Yes they would cost alot and yes they seem like they would never leave but things change look at Rooney? Even though he has signed there was obviously a long enough time where he had actually taken leaving into consideration so who knows.

Money talks nowadays and I totally believe that if we were to get our gloves off and rip a few quality signings out of the bag not only would it give our squad a massive boost but also get alot more fans back on board.

Giggs has not been a winger for years! if he plays wide left in a 4 man midfield he spends all game coming inside looking for holes in central positions e.g. exactly as Schweinstiger does from CM. + he used to play out left wing before being moved more central under Klinsmann and Van Gaal.

Plus we should be looking at changing with the times and move away from rigid 4-4-2 with wingers. That formation is dead. 4-3-3 is the way forward it gives so many advantages over teams playing 4-4-2 and with us coming into a big change in personel period we should be looking into players for this type of formation to be more attacking and adventurous which we would all love to see.
