Well, what's Van der sar doing at carrington?
Intresting .

Believable18 Unbelievable2

Apparently he fancied a coffee but was bored of the amsterdam cafes. and then he remembered there's a costa coffee machine at carrington.

Sorry to burst your bubble

He's managing director at Ajax and may be talking about Blind.

Agree0 Disagree0

EvS is in discussing the potential move for Blind

You can say what you like about the transfer window, but it's good fun watching all them lads outside Carrington with Van Der Sar driving out was quality telly very excited feeling like a kid at Xmas:) Blind announced next? Then a deadline day deal for Vidal? Would be fantastic 😄😄

SSN have just shown footage of Edwin VDS leaving Carrington. Given that he's on the board at Ajax I expect it has something to do with a deal for Blind.

If that's the case I can't see us signing Vidal - or indeed - anybody else.

We've signed some good players this window - but there are still some pretty glaring gaps in midfield and defense.

Believable8 Unbelievable12

Think Blind is a definite now then, I won't rule out something happening with Vidal before the window closes either.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why can't you see us signing anyone else if we get Blind? I don't think he'd be bought to play every game in midfield, it's clear we need another quality central midfielder who can tackle especially if we don't manage to sign a top quality CB.

Agree2 Disagree0

If Blind was a first choice target we would have signed him weeks ago. He's open to a move, Ajax are willing to let him leave and LVG knows the player well. The only reason I can see for us not signing him sooner is if we were trying to sign another player (ie, Vidal). Us making the move for him now suggests that we've given up on Vidal.

Assuming that Vidal is entirely off the table there are five or six players I'd like to see us looking at before Blind - but I suppose LVG would rather go with what he knows. I just hope he knows what he's doing. £18m is an awful lot to spend on a glorified John O'Shea - especially when considering that Ballotelli only cost Liverpool £16m!

Agree2 Disagree2

LVG did say at some point earlier in the window that signing players can be easy and take but a day. If say, signing Blind would be easy then why not wait to get bigger deals done first. The more money you spend the more money clubs think you have and will probably try squeeze every last bit out of you. Just a thought.

Besides it's likely that if we're still trying to sign Vidal which I assume we are then it won't be as straight forward as people may think. With his knee injury, and LVG's supposed concerns over his fitness we could be trying to sort out a deal which focuses on the amount of games he plays, likewise with his contract. Not the first time it'd be done.

Any truth to Vidal deal revival? Hearing Vidal's agent has traveled back to England and Juve is also happy to let this one go through?

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea where his agent is, but if he is in Europe I could guess where he will be tomorrow. Nothing has changed. Manchester United want the player. If he tells Juventus he wants to leave and if he can prove his fitness a deal might be possible.}

27 Aug 2014 04:58:22
Hi Ed002, do you happen to know who is representing us in Monacco later this week?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is a third-party who I suspect is doing it. We will see later but I don't see it as important.}

26 Aug 2014 11:22:52
Ed002 I was wondering if we have any interest in varane? Very good player who no one seems to be going for

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - None has been shown by MU. Chelsea would still like to take him in a player exchange but this looks unlikely this time around.}}

Thanks ed , one more question what's the chances of us signing agger?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Slim at best I would think.}

Thanks ed

Benatia signs for Bayern, another player we've let slip but touch wood we'll forget about it in the next few hours with the impending arrival of Di Maria

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Never let him slip! he just simply wanted to go to bayern and bayern wanted him!

im sure ther some add ons in ther with that transfer fee!

Agree2 Disagree1

How have we let him slip? its quite clear he didn't fancy coming here so I couldn't care less about him.

Agree4 Disagree0

I'm sure you're right.

Spending 60m on a winger we don't need will make us forget all about the central defender we desperately need who sold for a third the price.

Agree0 Disagree4

Thorne do you actually watch any man utd games?, excluding januzaj our wingers can't go past a man and they can't cross for toffee and are simply just doing a job, if that dosent mean we were crying out for di maria then I don't know what does.

Bayern have confirmed signing of Mehdi Benatia.

Real Madrid are in talks with Man United over the signing of right-back Guillermo Varela.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

Tell them we will do a swap for khadera ha

Looks like we can officially forget Benatia now.

Sly sports stating that he is due in Munich tomorrow for a medical Roma having agreed a fee of £20.7m plus add ons.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Not sure we were ever in for him and if so I don't think he really wanted to join us

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats cheap! I thought they asked for €40m plus a player from us!

Have been reading that united are ready to bid £34 million for Vidal. not sure how true but if this is correct not sure where they all going to fit in to the team. and surely we must have another centre back sorted or a right wing back.

Believable14 Unbelievable11

Vidal will 'fit in' to midfield, that's why we are after him.

Agree3 Disagree0

Vidal will easily fit in its quite simple carrick cleverly and fletcher won't play

Agree2 Disagree0

Vidal exceptionally easy to fit into the team, he's a CM, a position we've struggled with considerably in recent times. Blind, Shaw, Rojo all fall naturally into vacant positions and I'm sure Di Maria will thrive in whichever role he chooses for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

In the starting 11 in midfield!

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking the same thing about Di Maria. where's he going to fit in when we already have young in the same position?

Agree1 Disagree3

Probably just another bench player, can't see how he will get in ahead of the dynamic duo Clevz and Fletch.

Agree3 Disagree0

He is a must and he will be the new robbo/keano in our midfield

Agree3 Disagree0

Vidal not sure where we fit him in? He would be the 1st name on the team sheet.

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 15:34:42
Will probably loan him back to juve

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidal is easy, it's Di Maria who I can't see how we're going to fit in.

He would make a terrible wingback, no defensive side at all, and if we use a different formation we lose at least 1 of Roo, Rvp or Mata, our 3 best players.

Unless he comes forward from left cm in a 442 diamond, with Herrera at right cm, but that implies no Vidal, and I'd rather spend 60m on Vidal to play there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha I didn't mean how it sounded of course he would get in the team and I know we need him but I just think he would be to much of similar style of player to Herrera and it looks like di maria will be played central to plus has fletcher is vice captain I think you will find he is well and truly in lvgs mind

We're all so eager for new players that none of us are discussing a potential bedding in period. If we end up playing 5 new players in the first team it may take a while for them to gel. That said I think our manager is the best person to facilitate this

Believable7 Unbelievable2

26 Aug 2014 13:32:03
I think people expect a bedding in period, but I would rather have world class players bedding in than average joe's who have played together for ages.

Agree1 Disagree0

What would you rather see?
A bedding Vidal or a Cleverley?

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems we are having serious trouble getting the existing lot to gel anyway.

26 Aug 2014 05:36:40
Ed002, may I ask if you see United signing a central midfielder before the end of this transfer window? I believe we need one. Cheers in advance.

Believable24 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I expect a deal can be done for Blind and Vidal might happen.}

26 Aug 2014 11:44:54
I would be fairly happy if we could pull those 2 out of the bag

Agree0 Disagree0

RRED7,

Fairly happy?

Agree1 Disagree0

If Vidal is signed, this would represent an unreal window for us.

Agree1 Disagree0

Would pretty much be a perfect window.

Agree2 Disagree0

To be fair GDS2 I would be slightly giddy if we got Vidal +1

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sign Vidal and he's fully fit, we wouldn't need another midfielder in the team. He would dominate a team by himself!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed, are you saying that Vidal might happen because something has changed in the circumstances surrounding the deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed, it might happen. There is no secret message.}

26 Aug 2014 05:38:31
Forget Vidal, Van Gaal is in for Kevin Strootman as
soon as he has proved his fitness and will be bought in January transfer window!Nigel De Jong will be bought now as a stop gap!

Believable14 Unbelievable28

26 Aug 2014 08:48:27
NJD will love that, give us his career at Milan to be a 5 month stop gap.

Agree3 Disagree0

And the prize for random statement of the day goes to.

Agree0 Disagree0

Roma won't let strootman go in Jan when they are fighting on all fronts we will sign him next summer if he recovers we need vidal now
