EDS do we know what is going on with Hazard? I feel he may be the play to move this transfer window question is to who? {Ed007's Note - Chelsea, but I doubt it will be this window.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Why Chelsea ED007? {Ed007's Note - Because Celtic can't get The Derry Pele off the wage bill.}

Pogba off at half time of the ressies game. Played really well. Could this mean the boys in the squad for Saturday? Let's hope so!

Ports

Believable12 Unbelievable12

Probably, given the injuries and the fact that he's made the squad a few times recently. Can't wait to see him and Morrison get their league debuts.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Definately and did you see the great goal scored by Petrucci the score is now 4-0 with 20 minutes to go ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Morrison's league debut will most likely be with someone else, not us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba was different class in 1st half
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

All these people coming on here saying but this guy buy that guy, we need to spend millions and millions and want us to buy a whole new midfield should watch our ressies. Pettruci was great, Norwood was class, Pogba, enough said, Tunncliffe to come in! We got a fantastic future, invest in a "leader" of the Roy Keane mold and we are looking great.

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

Give me a smiling Petrucci than a miserable Morrison any day
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Ports

Couldn't agree more , half the names written on here daily are no better than whats playing for out reserves, Norwood is a class act

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba was outstanding first half! Hope Fergie starts him on Saturday, but am I the only one who thinks he will play it safe and play with Giggs and Park in the middle (that's if Carrick isn't fit)?

#ags 19

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a scott parker type player a wise head and perfect role model in the middle of the park that type of mold of player.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Norwood passed the ball really well tonight and wasnt afraid to go in hard and pettrucci is getting a good run of injury free games at last, 14 already for reserves this season
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is that leader! I just can't see Morrison leaving, everything he's said has pointed towards him staying, just people believing media hype. Hopefully Pogba gets some game time on Saturday, would be a great step forward not only for him, but for the club.

Percy

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

We really do have some fantastic young players who have a really good chance of making it. People mention Pogba Morrison and Tunnicliffe all the time but Petrucci, Vermijl, M.Keane, Fryers, Thorpe, Blackett, Cole, Lingard, Johnstone, Brady, Cofie and W.Keane are all in with a really good shout of making it at the club. I think several of them need loan deals next year for them to make the step up and could well be in or around the first team the year after.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Also robbie brady who is impressing

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he went off to talk to the three man chav delegation who were there to watch him ahead of a 3 million pound bid
ste73

Agree0 Disagree0

If you get the chance watch the academy games. Januzaj looks absolute class as does mcculloch and rothwell (currently injured). Anybody heard whether we got Andreas Perreira in from PSV?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not forget the next batch looking good too, Barmby, Pearson, Rudge, Rothwell, Januzaj, Daehli, Perreira etc. If only two from each batch make it I'll be a very happy fan.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

'ste73'

I take it by 'chav' you mean Chelsea? If so I cannot see how that move would appeal to him seems he wants first team opportunities. He isn't going to get any there is he? He wouldn't get any at City either. I think he will sign a new deal with us personally. I think it's no more than tough negotiations between both parties. I think Ravel will sign too, but lets wait and see.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - You never know what might happen Syd.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah, what whispers have you heard regarding Pogba then Ed? Whether it's just speculation or not I would like to know. Thanks mate.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I understand that if no agreement has been reached between the club and player that an offer may well be made by Chelsea. It has been discussed in some detail - and for once the speculation is correct (at least broadly correct - they have got a name wrong, but that is unimportant).}

Agree0 Disagree0

I still have hope that United will agree a contract with him, paying him an extra £10k a week for 12-24 months more than we wanted too is better than spending £20m+ on a player and having to pay them higher wages anyway. But the issue with Pogba is apparently game time, Chelsea cannot offer him more game time than us. SAF said we have an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months and I imagine that's what will happen whether the player likes it or not.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - You need to think back to my original explanation about him being discussed by an "advisor" with both l'OM and PSG and about what advice he has had more recently, perhaps even from the same person that may lead him to believe that there are better long-term options for the kid elsewhere - perhaps West London? It is all about advice and what is seen to be best for the player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

His rep can only advise him, but then so can SAF so I guess we will have to see what he wants to do. IMO Chelsea is a step down from United and they cannot guarantee him more football than us short-term or long-term. Ed do you know exactly what it is that Pogba wants? I heard weeks ago that he wanted a big signing on fee, is that the case?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I don't know "xactly" what he wants Syd.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I know that mate, but there have been rumours that it's a hefty signing on fee he wants, a hefty salary or guaranteed game time assurances. From what you know is it one of these or all of them? Thanks Ed.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - There is no point getting in to such detail until it is clear that he will not agree a deal with Manchester United.}

I'm very surprised that the Nicolas Gaitan rumours haven't resurfaced, i think that transfer may happen in the summer. Its one of the more likely ones to happen, it will be around 25 million though. I can't see it being near 30! I think he'd come in and do well for us - probabyl more realistic than Ozil, Hazard etc.

If there is a big change in summer then Cavani i think could be a target. He like Gaitan has been tracked and commented on publicly by SAF.

Bring Cavani, Gaitan, Clyne, Zaha, Rodwell in and i'd be a very happy man. We wouldn't need anything for a while-other than sign Kovacic and boot out Anderson if need be.

RedDevil19

Believable5 Unbelievable13

That would be helping out all areas other than what we really need which is creativity in the midfield.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be gutted if we bought any of them , none would improve the squad at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan is a central midfielder.
Rodwell is box to box.
Cavani is one of the best,
Zaha has bags of potential.
Clyne is similar to Kyle Walker and has potential.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Just wait till cleverleys back u will see a difference then then if we buy goetze in the summer we will be class

Agree0 Disagree0

Morrison, Pogba and Cleverley for creativity please, ditch Gaitan and Cavani from the list and I'll be happy as Larry. The only big name I want to see come in is Hazard, insanely good and young.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Goetze is more like it, all these other names that need potential written after them is a puzzle to me why people keep going on about them every day, I just watched the reserves and there's plenty of players in there better than those palace players etc people keep going about

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani would not improve the squad?!?!? He is probably one of the most clinical finishers in game at the moment. World class and would improve any team.

Agree0 Disagree0

RedDeveil19,

Gaitan is not a central midfielder. He is a Silva type player and we would have to change our formation to accommodate him.

Rodwell is injury prone and average

We cannot afford Cavani

Zaha is decent but we have better in our reserves

Agree0 Disagree0

So cavani would replace Rooney , Hernandez or welbeck ? Get real look at the league he plays in

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan played CM for his entire career before joining Benfeica where he has been played on the left - this is part of the reason he wants a move away as his relationship with Jorge Jesus is strained as he wont play him in his prefered position.

Get your facts right 'no name'

IrishRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a quick point.

Ferguson has said himself that Anderson has a big role to play at the club. Just never going to happen.

You're a dreamer

Agree0 Disagree0

Thankyou Irishred, thats my point exactly. Gaitan would slot straight into the midfield, and i think its in SAF's mind to sometimes play Rooney as the main striker instead of dropping off all the time. Signing Gaitan would give him the option to do this in some games.

For anyone to say Cavani is not better than what we have (except Rooney) is rediculous, he is one of the best strikers in the world, he has it all. He single handidly took on and beat City in the CL and he would be the best striking option that we could wish for - not that i think we would get him.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

This guy has been playing too much football manager. Not going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Single handed he beat city , my god are you right in the head. Last time I looked scoring wasn't really a problem and besides welbeck is doing well and Hernandez will be back to his best soon enough, we don't need him quality centre mid and maybe cereal midfielder yes , and don't start going on about championship players against mean real quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2012 18:15:18
Watching the Madrid game yesterday, Ozil was great. But that does perhaps mean that its even more difficult for us to get him - but nevertheless i would like us to try. The van der Vaart rumour is interesting this morning, maybe it would be a sensible choice as he wouldn't really hinder the progress of anyone. He plays in the same position really that Morrison does so he would give us cover until he perhaps breaks through.

I certainly wouldn't pay 20 million for van der Vaart - but for a lower fee then i'd say yes why not go for it.

To be honest though, Clyne is the only man i see coming in in the next 5 days. It has been a dissapointing window as as usual we expected so much, we really shouldnt! Hopefully the summer window has something in store for us!

RedDevil19

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Never expected anything and i think vdv is a poor choice given he's injury prone and we have the worst injury crisis most United fans have ever seen.

I really don't get this idea that we wont get Ozil. Yeah sure he turned us down to go to Madrid 2 years ago, fair enough i expect 99% of foreign players would do that. But we still enquired after him last summer to get tiold he wasn't for sale. This summer it may well be different.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not saying its not possible - but i don't think Madrid will want him to go! Gaitan is probably more likely, not as good but could be i think.

‎"I think one of our players who has been playing all the time should be in the forefront to be captain, and that was the case with Patrice."
- Sir Alex Ferguson

So I guess Pat's going nowhere this summer ?

MUMBAI_BOY

Believable5 Unbelievable6

I've said that all along, he's captain for a reason and will have at least 1 more season

RedDevil19

Well bruv he's been bad but i cant see better options in the market right now...

Anybody know when young is back, with nani injured we need him back asap

Believable5 Unbelievable3

I'm told a month.

However there is news of the training ground that given the knock to carrick.
And the injuries to jones and nani.
Pogba may well be given his chance at long last.

Also morrison may make bench.

Manchester United are reportedly looking at Vasco da Gama defender Dede as they seek to improve their back line

with a long term injury for vidic and Ferdinand's legs catching up with him.
replacements are needed.

having won a couple of awards for best defender in Liga do Brasil, and averaging 1 goal every 5 gamees. He could add alot of quality and competition to the manchester united back line.

vickrum

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Well i dont think anyone would argue about buying another CB. Rio mayb only play a handful of games for rest of season

Ozil last night was absolutely brilliant, Especially when Real came to life in the second half. I don't think he'll Leave Madrid personally, I know they'll be a clear out this year if history is anything to go by but I think it'll be players like Granero, Lass, Callejon, Altintop, etc.

Okay, so all of those will in my opinion add something to our team especially Altintop, although he's not much better than what we've already got. The same with Granero, Callejon is fairly decent but he's gone from a promising kid to a squad player and Lassana Diarra as good as I think he is, I would rather have somebody with a little less baggage, although his talent and experience would do us a lot of good when you consider our current potential leavers and retiring players.

I think Ozil is our target, but I think while we're waiting for him players like Tunners, Cleverley, Ravel and Pogba (providing they stay) and even Anderson will develop and learn more and more eventually turning themselves into the type of player that Ozil is, meaning we'll no longer have a need for him.

although I would LOVE to see Ozil in the Red of United.

The Moon.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

Ozil is by far Betta than any mid player we got u raving bout pogba ravel an cleverly they won't be as gd as ozil wen ozil was there age he was a first team player an now he a proven world star an proven international star Wat r pogba ravel an clev 2 cnt even make the bench an cleverly Yh he played well start of season but he not gd enough to challenge for titles an silver wear an cleverly could t even get a regular u21 spot we need world class players an quick be4 we get left behind an end up like Liverpool

Agree0 Disagree0

Can you not read?

Cleverley especially is the EXACT type of player that Ozil is..

If you were Ozil why would you leave Real? you're playing week in, week out, you're at the 2nd best team on the planet, with one of the greatest coaches this games ever seen...I don't understand why he would risk leaving. so what i'm saying is that Sir Alex will probably be waiting around for Ozil to become available which in my mind will probably be the summer after next, in that time Cleverley, Pogba, Tunners, Morrison and Anderson will have hopefully managed to hold down positions in our squad and all be working well as a unit, at which point there would be no need for Ozil.

and the reason Ozil has turnt into a success is because of the way the German league was reshaped, clubs used what they had instead of wasting large amounts of money, the same with why Gotze has come on leaps and bounds.

Cleverley is a top lad, he'll walk into our squad when everybody is fit, he'll walk into Liverpools and Arsenals too IMO. How can you slag off our boys when from what you're saying you've probably never seen them play. Cleverley was good at youth and reserve level but wasn't outstanding, now he's showing us how good he is, Ravel and Pogba are considered to be in the top 5 talents in the country. as for Tunners well he's putting in performance after performance for Peterborough and really does look top quality. Then we've got Anderson, if he starts adding consistency to his game then we've got one hell of a CM.

The Moon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt see The Moon exactly raving about pogba, morrison,Cleverly etc just making a valid point that they may well develop and mature as decent players its true we need a proven player in the short term but take a deep breath mate its not all doom and gloom.

Agree0 Disagree0

United haven't got a midfielder that will ever be anything close to ozil , we are lacking massively in the middle of the park

Agree0 Disagree0

Im pretty sure we was after ozil after the world cup but he chose madrid instead so cant see him coming now

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't particularly see him leaving either but he almost never plays 90 minutes

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he might leave.

Yeah Madrid will have a clear out and out will go Diarra, Khedira and so on, but i think Ozil will go. People keep saying Di maria will go but i can;t see it as he's one of Perez's favourites and his say is final. I can see Ozil being the one to go.

Where would he go, well not Barca obviously. Can't see him in Italy. Leaves England or back to Germany, don't think bayern are interested yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come On start living in reality we be lucky to keep pogba an ravel if rumors are correct an cleverly Yh walk into our team coz of the state of it an u saying arsenal an Liverpool I'm a die hard united fan like but be honest wid ur self cleverly Betta than Gerard Adam an Lucas an Betta thn arteta ,jack, an song an Ramsay cum on out off all those cleves the worst he is almost in the middle of his career cnt get in the England squad an if we had gd centre Mids he would have been sold he not in scholes league an never will be an Anderson Yh he showed promise wa 3 years ago an u say if he added consistence he would be great not quite he cnt shoot he cnt pass properly quite often over hits the ball an rarely gets assist an goals wa av he scored now 4 odd goals in 3-4 years Yh he top class he was a wonder boy now he an average play he may turn out an become class but I highly doubt it an he is beefing played out of position all his united career

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you clearly know nothing about football or are a liverpool supporter which equals the same thing.

Cleverley is better than A**m and Lucas, Arteta, Song and Ramsey, and Wilshire has the advantage of 18 months extra experience.

You reckon he;s in the middle of his career? He's 22 you plank! Can't get in an England squad? Thats why he's been in every England squad this seaosn when he;s been fit, and as only missed out through injury.

Not in anderson's league now i know your on a wind up cos he far surpasses anderson.

Sold? Jog on plank, die hard united fan yeah right.

Can't pass have you ever watched him play??

Agree0 Disagree0

Ovs u cnt read for one I said almost in middle and another I did not say he ain't in andos league I said he not in scholes league u need to learn to read an weigh it up it hard to say this now Lucas has turned to one best holding players in league A**m is a great passer of a football Betta thn clev simple as an the others ask ur self y they have had more playing time could be coz there Betta face facts would clev av got in team web we had to great cm keanoo an scholes bk in his day an the answer is no should he be our best centre mid thn the answer is no an only reason he got in the england squad is coz of injuries be honest he not as gd as Gerard lampard wilsher Barry holding , Parker is Betta carick is also ahead in pecking order Milner just named a few wen fit r ahead of him getting anoyed at all u united fans who r happy wid players like clev Yh he decent not great but should be 4th choice not 1st in cm we r pathetic bout 6 -8 teams got Betta cm thn united it's disgusting {Ed007's Note -What does this mean? You're saying someone can't read, no wonder mate, deal with your spelling or stop posting. We have better things to do with our time than try to decipher this kind of muck. I tried running it through Google translate and now the FBI think I have an alien trying to get in contact with his home planet in the house.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And given the relationship between Mourinho & SAF, if both United & Liverfool were interested, we would get him. But thts highly unlikely. Ozil would never leave Madrid. Personal Opinion.

IBleedBlue

Brilliant response Bond, i think the guys just chattinfg rubbish, absolutely clueless.

Watched him a couple of times, looks pretty decent.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Hes awful

Agree0 Disagree0

He's overrated and rubbish - with a free ticket to the Danish national team due to a romantic coach. No way near United class! {Ed007's Note - Nothing wrong with a bit of romance in your life. You go for it if he is putting the effort, he obviously thinks a lot of you.}

Ed,Syd
Rumours going around that were interested in Brazil centre back Dede, from what ive seen of him hes great on the ball and can drive out from the back, with jones playing terrible at the back atm do you thiink this move is possible and fergie will push jones back into the midfield where he looks more impressive ?

L.A.7 {Ed002's Note - Both Milan clubs, Juventus, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Dede. I don't know of any MU interest right now.}

United won't be signing anyone this window. SAF is right there is no value in the market. I doubt any big signings will happen at any of the Premier League clubs this window, no one apart from Chelsea has money to spend at the moment.

United Till I Die 1987

Believable15 Unbelievable6

Does anyone else think our failure to get quality established players might have something to do with the uncertainty over the future of saf?would a top player sign for him when he may retire in 1 year or 2 ?just a thought Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as many players may want to play under SAF, I personally go along with the people saying no one person (including SAF) is bigger than the club.

United are a huge club with a worldwide recognition, I think there would be plenty of talent more than willing to play for the club

TM

Agree0 Disagree0

Saying that there is no value in the market at the moment is absolute tripe. I believe that Fergies hands are tied with no money and its his excuse.

For example the young croation teenage midfielder(cant remember his name sorry) we have been linked to with a reported price of 10 million. If he is as good as he is supposed to be then what would be the issue. I dont remember anyone baulking at the 12 million we paid for Ronaldo.

Bottom line is we are so weak in midfield and defence that you wouldnt need to spend an absolute fortune to improve on what we have.

Jay
