Ed do you know of any interest in De Gea from Barca or Real? DDGs gf has said he would like to move to Barca apparently.

Dan {Ed002's Note - I don't.}

Believable10 Unbelievable42

It was actually said he would choose barcelona over madrid not that he would like to move anywhere. Understandable from an athletico boy

Agree1 Disagree0

I have read the quotes from his girlfriend and if they are not doctored then it's clear he wants a move back to Spain in the summer. Personally I think he will go back to AM as they are losing Courtois in the summer and they will have cash to buy him back from selling Arda & Falcao. I then believe we will sign Begovic. I'd much prefer Adler, but Begovic is a safe choice. With Smalling and Evans good with their distribution I think DDG's will not be missed as much.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid has another target in mind Syd.}

Agree1 Disagree3

Ed002, what do you see happening in the future regarding DDG? Could United solve this issue by swapping Lindegaard for say Begovic and use DDG as a back-up? Surely this could be a solution if it proves difficult to shift DDG?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I don't see any such swaps - that just seems like speculation Syd. And would DDG wish to be a "back up" to someone else? The summer will tell.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Your posts are now massively devalued to me now Syd, DDG as an understudy to Begovic? Begovic is average.. DDG will be 1 of the worlds best.

Patzi

Agree6 Disagree0

Patzi, I am a fan of DDG, but it seems he wants to go home and it's clear the manager still isn't confident about our goalkeeping position, hence the strong scouting of goalkeepers. What I meant was until DDG made the number one position his own, could we get a more established keeper in to rotate with him until he is ready for the EPL. I think if SAF had confidence in Lindegaard it would be Lindegaard playing now.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree1

Agreed Syd but I think the reason for SAFs lack of confidence in De Gea is because he knows that De Gea will return to Spain soon. He has made mistakes and is a little naive but no one can doubt his ability and SAF can see that talent. He was here for tomorrow but he will always want t5o return to Spain eventually.

Begovic is absolutley average. Sorenson looks better for Stoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Lindergaard will go and DDG stay. I could see us buying Begovic to play against the more physical teams -Stoke, West Ham etc and DDG to play the majority of games. Of course if DDG does want to return home, there is little we ca do. However, most of the DDG and his GF wanting to return home stuff has been written in the red top rags like the Sun, Mirror etc. As everyone knows they will write anything to sell their rubbish, especially on a day lacking any real news.

Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Mik, they were in quotes, so unless they were doctored (which is unlikely), it seems they are waiting to return back to Spain. Of course there would need to be interest from a Spanish team first. Barcelona want Courtois, Atletico want Reina and RM have Casillas so unless Valencia are looking he will have no avenue back home. Malaga couldn't afford him now.

You sure you were at the right game. Smalling and Jones did everything asked of them, albeit by Fulham's powderpuff attack.
Mik

Ed002, have you heard any rumours regarding Newcastle? They seem to be buying several players and interested in a couple more. My question is are they planning on offloading Tiote or Cabaye in the next two windows?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I don't see them selling Cabaye but I think there is every chance Tiote will move on in the summer.}

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Thanks Ed, not sure Jono will enjoy your thoughts regarding Cabaye, but at least he still has his Cabaye posters to look at. Do you see Tiote remaining in the EPL? Do United hold an interest? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I would expect Cheikh Tiote to move to Germany in the summer.}

ed07... I know that you have said no bid has been made for wanyama, but do you happen to know if any informal discussions have taken place recently ?

Seen a couple of different sources report a potential bid in this window with Powell on loan till end of season.

Think this would be great deal for us as Wanyama is a fantastic player and would offer us some steal in the middle and if Powell were to play then he would be getting 1st team minutes too which he is not getting here at the minute.

Oxred {Ed007's Note - The club are still trying their hardest to get Wanyama to sign a new deal although his current deal runs until 2015. His agent seems to be the one doing the talking to the press so I would guess informal talks have taken place between his agent and representatives of interested parties. One thing I have read is that any deal for Wanyama would have to be done over this weekend to allow the paperwork to be completed in time regarding a work permit etc. I don't know enough about that side of things to say if that is true or not, sorry Ox. As for Powell coming on loan, last week the press up here were saying it was Welbeck so it seems to change to sell papers.}

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Thanks ed07..... lol it will be someone else then by monday...

will just have to wait and see....

oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed007

Forgive my ignorance, but if Wanyama was signed now by Utd (or anyone else) and loaned back to Celtic for the rest of the season, he'd still be able to play for Celtic in the CL, wouldn't he? (obv not against UTD, if they met Celtic). Just wondering if this might not be an option, assuming we can put up enough cash to satisfy Celtic.

Thanks

TommyH {Ed007's Note - Yes, he would still be eligible for CFC's CL games.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed07... looking at your response you state that the deal would have to be done this weekend in order for the work permit to go through.

would he require a new permit then as he is already working in the uk?

Oxred {Ed007's Note - As I said I am no expert on that side of things Ox but it is something to do with Kenya being rated outside the top 70 nations, I think he needs to apply for a new work permit if he changes employers. I will leave a note for Ed002 to have a look at this and see if she can add anything.}

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Wanyama, like all EU players, needs a work permit to play in the UK. If he moves between clubs the work permit needs to be renewed but it is most unlikely that he would have any difficulties with it. As Kenya has a lowly ranking he does indeed need a work permit issued as an exception. Again, I don't see this being an issue as he has been playing regularly in the UK.}
