ED do you know if we are genuinely in for Gaitan?

If we do sign him then the only player that I see leaving is ADM because Young is going nowhere after the season he had and we are not really in need of another wide player.

{Ed004's Note - We are not}

Good!

Ed002 said on the euro pages that we are.

If we sign Gaitan it has to be the strangest transfer we have made. We are signing a left footed wide man ( a position we have plenty of better options), who has had an ok season in the Portugese league and selling our own left winger who was probably the best player in the Portugese league. Can someone please explain to be the rationale behind that move as it escapes me.

27 Jun 2015 10:47:35
Gaitan plays left attacking MF too, di Maria and gaitan can swap roles during games, one wide, one attacking mid.

Agree1 Disagree7

27 Jun 2015 14:40:36
Welsh, Gaitan isn't really better than Mata in that attacking mid role neither does he have the physicality of Fellaini to provide us a plan B in that role.

27 Jun 2015 15:06:49
Thauvin is left footed and at 22 would prefer the Frenchman!

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jun 2015 16:19:47
Not saying he is better than mata but he probably fits the system more than mata unfortunately.

Surely I can't be the only guy who would love to see how nani performs for LVG. He had a great season on loan. God I'd love to see some of that old magic back. I know he's had a lot of chances but I got a soft spot for him. That arsenal game those years ago. That's class

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Jun 2015 20:36:06
maybe he's a replacement for nani

If and that's a big if according to reports today, De Gea does join Real, (help here Edd's) who is the main target goalkeeper wise? Do we stick with Valdes? Will he leave? Do we go for a young up and coming keeper (which I think we should do) or bring in a more experienced keeper to go with Valdes? (Again, some help would be useful from you guys 'in the know'?) cheers Edd's! Ronnie.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I think we will stick with Valdes and Lindegaard}

27 Jun 2015 08:49:22
There is some speculation that Utd are in discussions with Capri and Atlanta over a loan with the option to buy. The lad originally found it difficult to settle in England and returned to Uruguay for family reasons, this was then followed by a loan to RM.

Zidane would like to keep the player, but RM think the asking price is too high. That's what I have read. I would like to see the lad get a chance here, but it does not look like it is going to happen.

27 Jun 2015 09:18:27
If you are right Ed04 then I think Valdes would be good for our European matches and against less physical sides of EPL, while Lindegaard can do the job against teams like Stoke etc.
On another note papers this morning are saying that United won't sell David for anything less than 30m or they'll let him go for free next. If true I will be happy with this, his one more season is definitely worth this.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 09:23:16
I hope not- I always thought Lindengaard was terrible- he's a back up for a reason. If De Gea does leave, I believe we will need a replacement

Hi Eds, is Guillermo Varela coming back to the club?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Think so}

26 Jun 2015 21:24:41
Would you be happy with him as our rb backed up by rafael and Valencia?

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jun 2015 09:24:24
If he has had a good spell on loan, then I think he should be given a chance, sounded very promising when we signed him. Not that many quality RB's around, we may have one coming back into the squad who is already paid for.

What happened with our interest in Fabinho? Looks like Citeh are sniffing when it had appeared he was bound for OT. Varane wasn't great before he left on loan so hope the year helped him find his game but it's a big jump from RM B-team to the Premier League. I'd be disappointed in losing out on Fabinho, doubly so if it's to Citeh as the press are now suggesting!

Hi Eds with all the media just using guess work ! i was wondering whether you could clear up that we have actually held talks for schneiderlin, I ask this as you can't trust the media any more and quite frankly i only believe what i see or have seen on this site !

Cheers in advance

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Not sure but by the looks of it he will be joining either us or Arsenal}

26 Jun 2015 18:13:33
Heard that schniederlen deal is 75% complete with the player wanting it tied up before pre season training and also gaitan is the same position 2 excellent signings :)

26 Jun 2015 18:29:05
please not gaitan

I can't really see the sense in signing Gaitan. Morgan Schneiderlin though, would be a fantastic signing. I think he is an excellent player personally.

Agree6 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 19:13:50
Have a feeling we might be the other club that has a tentative agreement with gaitan, apparently it's not spurs anyway. I guess that'd mean signing just 1 MF player and di Maria playing centrally maybe.

Maybe we don't need new right back: according to a newspaper, Varela has come back a much improved player.

If so, can we keep him or are Real entitled to bid for him?

Zidane loves him. Apparently.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Jun 2015 14:45:08
I think we already sold him

I don't think we have mate, maybe he's the reason we haven't gone in for clyne, the forgotten man!

Speaking of right backs what do you lot make of the reports that janko is heading to Celtic permanently? I'm gutted personally he's only 19 and looks promising.

26 Jun 2015 19:56:43
Me too might be that we are signing someone big at right back don't have a clue though only LVG knows .He will do ok at Celtic

Rumours that Vidal has been sold by Juventus and will be anounced after the Copa America. I said a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn't be surprised if it was all done and dusted for him to move to us, just like Herrera.

Oh please let it be us.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

26 Jun 2015 13:24:39
I think Arsenal would be the more likely destination.

26 Jun 2015 13:27:11
Some media outlets say a £21.3m deal to join arsenal after the copa.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 13:32:28
its a strange one with vidal, last season he was our main target all summer every paper had vidal to united, but this summer we haven't really been linked with him as much.

i would love vidal at united along with schneiderlin and we would have a very good midfield.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 13:38:39
Imagine a midfield 3 with schneiderlin vidal and Herrera di maria and depay on the flanks with rooney/lacazette up front up front what an attacking formation that wld be ah well we can but dream eh

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 14:48:02
SPB. There was no mention of Herrera the window we signed him either. All the work was done the season before. I'm guessing a lot of this thing happens as with Ronaldos move to Real Madrid. Fergie got him to give us one more season.

I may be grasping at straws but can't help getting excited about how much better our midfield would be with the addition of Vidal.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 15:52:36
Apparently aturo needs to ask for a transfer. Which language book shall we send out to him. Part of me still thinks well get him. Louis has always had the hots for him!

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 16:12:01
I really hope we get him too but If he went to Arsenal him and Sanchez is scary

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Jun 2015 16:49:08
I don't think arsenal would be interested. They have plenty of offensive mids and already struggle playing all the guys. Its the star, sun, metro all generally useless publication.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Jun 2015 09:03:03
Vidal was a popular choice last summer but I recall had knee problems which may have put us off. Another year older and has had probably enough playing time to at least consider whether his knee is ok. Will his game based on such energy be as effective as he gets older is a question for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 09:26:21
I would love to see Vidal in a United shirt and for 20m is a steal- last year was too much of a risk but has proven he is fit and firing. I wonder if the DUI incident has changed things for some teams - MS- BS - AV - now there's a midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jun 2015 09:39:56
Do we have any Interest in Toby Alderweireld? With prices being banded around, he certainly would be a great signing

Bein Sports saying sources are saying Ramos to United move is going to happen.

Ramos has already requested to leave and wants the transfer wrapped up. Also reporting we have agreed a deal for 35 million pounds and his wages are 11 million euros 5 year contract.

He can be a great signing for Manchester United. He is a strong Defender. He previously told to the press that, his father liked Manchester United. His brother Rene said to press "For now there are no talks. Perhaps it is best if he doesn’t finish his career at Real Madrid but at another club. We never know."
