Apparently when ronaldo moved to real madrid they put his buy out clause to £150m however there is also a clause that states he can return to united for the price that he was sold for if he ever left madrid. With that in mind i have heard that rooney = 40m evra =20m and 20m cash will bring ronaldo back and that ronaldo will partner chicarito up front and fabio will take evras position. Apparently united are going to make a big big transfer deal and i do think this is what the big big deal is . Either way i really do think this will be the last we see of rooney in united due to the fact he costs too much in wages and the way he betrayed SAF can anyone really see SAF let rooney get one over him when he put his transfer request in.

SAF will probably buy 3 new players over the summer and these will probably be a defensive midfielder but an adaptable one to replace Hargreaves, an attackive midfielder or a left winger and finally a goalkeeper.
De Gea looks almost certain to be the GK. Then IMO we should go for Nasri and De Rossi. Nasri would be cheap as 1 year left on contract and prob wants a move-can also play on left and in midfield.
De Rossi is a great CDM who seems fed up with Rome. Both v good players and neither would break the bank leaving money for lesser players such as Varane.

{Ed002's Note - Coming up with an acceptable package for the player is the best way to boost the chances of signing the player. Juventus are still interested, and Chelsea will no doubt be considering what they can do.}

Ed002, how are Chelsea going to accommodate Torres, Neymar and Aguero? I just can't see that happening. Any new information on Neymar to Chelsea? And is there genuine interest in Lukaku?

With Chelsea about to initiate a summer clearout, with the likes of Lampard, Drogba, Anelka, Terry leaving the club in order to create a younger, 'new look' Chelsea, I can see Ferguson going for Lampard, Drogba or even Terry.

Rate 'unbeleivable' if you will but Ferguson is not unknown to go for players near the end of their careers to boost the squad, e.g. Owen-no one saw that one coming right?

Inter Milan ace Sneijder must drop personal demands for Man Utd move.United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees the Dutchman as the ideal successor for Paul Scholes, though Sneijder's personal demands have forced him to seek alternatives, including Arsenal's Samir Nasri.
United can cover Inter's 30 million asking price, but want Sneijder to drop his 6 million-a-year contract demands, says Mediates.

Also Man Utd boss Ferguson tells Udinese to delay Sanchez decision, Udinese supremo Gino Pozzo met with Inter officials this week to discuss Sanchez, but ended the meeting with no agreement struck.

It's understood Pozzo has been urged by United intermediaries to wait until next week - after the Champions League final - before making a decision on Sanchez's sale.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson wants to discuss a deal for the Chile international, but will not move until the season is over.

Just to cahnge the constant tune being played on this site i wanna thro a couple of names into the 'midfield hat' -
Fernando - Porto. at 24 years old looks great in the portuguese league. athletic strong and works his socks of. we know we have a good relationship with Porto so could squeeze him for 15mill? perfect mould for the EPL. remember him against us a few years back when he was 20.
Luis Gustavo - Hoffenheim. Another brazilian. reminds me of ramires. really good worker plays a simple game of breaking up attacks and making short passes. perfect foil for Carrick and Rooney.
Kwadwo Asamoah - Udinese. This guy had a great WC. similiar to Essien. altho price just went up with Udinese in CL.

"Man utd will not sign sneijder. There is no evidence anywhere to say otherwise. if people start believing agents then they are fools. Modric is joining and I tried to post this a week or so ago."

So you say that there is no evidence to suggest Sneijder but there is to sign Modric?

Where?

Sir Alex has claimed both are great players who he admires. The papers have reported numerous times on both players and although i believe we have more chance of signing Modric (who i believe 99% of us will prefer) I still don't think we'll sign either of them.

You may be right, but how do you KNOW that Modric is coming to Old Trafford?

These are the options that we have, with Sneijder saying he's staying that's him out the question! Or at least i hope it is! I don't think he'd fit at all! We have £160 million to spend approximatly, most of this we must realise will be saved but SAF will have access to it. These are the options we have:

Raphael Varane (£4million): He will sign in the coming weeks, he will give good competiton with Evans. Also interestingly he can play DM which would mean Hargrevaes replacement isn't such a pressing issue.

Luka Modric (£35 million): This gets more likely now that Sneijder is definatly not coming and we have money to spend. Id bet on this one to happen, he keeps saying he's not leaving which most of the time if a guy is saying it that much then he is doing! Look at CR7!

Ashley Young (£15 million): I fail too see how we can be linked to someone like this! Especially if he is a replacement for Nani, can't see him leaving though if im honest. Hope he doesn't come but possibly will do.

Cristiano Ronaldo (£80 million): If he returns, which a lot of people think he will, i think SAF will have something in his contract to keep the buy back price the same as the sale price. Would love too see him back but Modric is probably more of a requirement. Ronaldo will be the big signing probably if Mourinho takes over next year or the year after.

Karim Benzema (£20 million): Looks like Mourinho will get more of his way and see Benzema leave, we have the money to buy him but if Berbatov stays then this becomes unlikely. Think he'd be a good addition and would fit in well, SAF would sort his head out.

Kun Aguero (£35 million): Going to Real Madrid, don't think he'd fit in here as Rooney does the same job.

As expected the Sneijder deal woudln't be done, always had major doubts about this!
De Gea - deal is NOT off, as stated he wants to concentrate on the tournament before deciding/confirming anything - it will still go through (How often does Fergie remove his cards from his chest on a transfer?).
Aguero - clearly wants to go to Real or Barca, but if neither of them go for him (which I doubt), then I reckon United are in with a cracking shout!
Young - This will happen, my source says so and I just have this awful feeling inside it's a done deal.
SURPRISE signing will take place over the summer I'm told, one that nobody will expect, however speculated as being a biggy! !

Sneijder's not coming, it was always a longshot! Hopefully we'll try for Modric.

The Dutch midfield schemer is understood to be on Manchester United's radar as Sir Alex Ferguson looks at potential successors for Paul Scholes.

Sneijder is believed to be one of those Ferguson is considering, along with Tottenham's Luka Modric, but now the former Real Madrid star insists he is planning on staying with Inter.

"Next season? I'll be here, " he told the Corriere dello Sport.
Final

Sneijder is set to return to fitness this weekend in time to feature for Inter in the final of the Coppa Italia, when they will face Palermo.

"I've been training with the squad without any problems, " he continued.

"I'll certainly be there against Palermo.

"I want to play and win the Coppa Italia so that we can end the season in a good manner."

The key reason for the delay behind De Gea s move to United is that it is being brokered by Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mendes, who could make up to 8 million (£6.9m) from De Gea s move, does not currently represent the goalkeeper, although he has signed a deal to replace the youngster s current agent, Hector Rincon, on June 30.

Right, there it is in black and White from the sky sports website, his contract with mendes can't start until june 30th so that's when he's available to sign for us, deals done.

I will first say I am not an in the know or anything like that.

However, my understanding of the De Gea situation is this: (Assuming twitter info and opinions, from decent sources, are correct.

1. United have agreed a fee with At. Madrid.
2. United have agreed personal terms with De Gea.

What has held the deal up is that De Gea was unsure as to whether the move was right for him (massive move early in his career).

Seemingly, he has decided that it IS the right time/move for him.

Apparently he had a medical in Manchester yesterday.

The denials since Tuesday can be read the following ways:

1. From De Gea/His Lawyer. No deal has been agreed yet - this could be due to De ea switching agents this summer, which has long been spoken about. He will switch to Mendes soon and it is likely the deal will not be official til then so that Mendes gets a bigger cut. Mendes has been involved in this a lot already.
2. From At.Madrid. What they said was no official communication from United or De Gea had come to inform them a deal had been reached - people have (incorrectly) read it as saying United have made no approach. If the denial from De Gea is due to the reason I have given above, then the lack of official comment from United or De Gea to At. Madrid would make sense.

"De Gea Deal Still Up in The Air!"

>>> No it's not, he is definitely joining Manchester United. The reason why his lawyer has said this is because he is changing agents (to Jorge Mendes) and doesn't want his current agent to get a cut of the fee.
I've been made aware that the Sneijder deal will be announced following the CL Final, and can assure you that Nani is definitely NOT part of the deal. Also, I've been told we have made our interest clear to a club concerning a young, future star. Any ideas what club and player, Ed?

i'm not keen on signing young but i don't think he's as bad as some people think. Over the last 4 years he's averaged 9 goals and just over 12 assists a year in a team that is so inconsistent(europe and relegation battles) that's a good and consistent record. Plus i'm sure with better players around him that he'll do better. Over the last 4 years young has been more consistent than nani, i still think nani is the more talented but i don't think young would be an awful replacement if nani needed replacing. But i'd rather nani stay.

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea has denied a deal has been done to take him to Premier League champions Manchester United. The highly-rated 21-year-old was reported to have signed for the 19-times English champions after manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed on Tuesday his club had been working on bringing him Old Trafford for some time.
But De Gea issued a statement through his lawyers to deny any agreement between the Liga club and United is in place.
"I hereby deny information that appeared in various media today indicating that David de Gea Quintana, football player of Club Atletico de Madrid, has signed for Manchester United. It is not true that he has been signed, " lawyer Jose Bouzas Aragon wrote in a letter sent to Spanish news agency EFE.
The statement also indicated that De Gea may even consider an extension to his current deal at Atletico, but will not make any decisions about his future until his commitments with the Spanish U21 side have ended on June 30.
De Gea has been identified as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar at United, who is set to retire after Saturday's Champions League final.
