is there any truth in the javi martinez rumours ed? or is it just a load of tosh , would love it to be true! {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any firm interest from Manchester United and for me the original Spanish article was purely speculation. I was told a few weeks ago that Inter Milan may make a bid for Javi in January if they decide not to take Juraj Kucka from co-owners Genoa. I am not convinced that Bilboa will want to sell the player in January.}

The Javi Martinez to Man Utd rumours are finally gathering some momentum but 1 thing that surprises me is that almost all the papers and websites claim that 18 million would be enough for his transfer.

Doesn't that then convince you that they are false? They turned down bids if £30m for Llorente, so £18m will probably need to be more like £28m, just to get a foot in the door.

It will all be from one source bud, all using the same source or just copying the story. They will change the valuation by 1-2m then pass it off as their own story. Bids would need to start at £25m for Javi, Bilbao are not desperate to sell and don't want to sell. He is a very good player and still very young. The story may be true that we are interested, but the valuation IMO is way off.

I would say it may have something to do with his contract but i recall he signed until 2016 either this summer or last, so that certainly wouldn't lower his value.
Looks like Silly Season has come early, a lot of new rumours since the "apocalypse" on Sunday, more than likely old gossip with a glossy coating because they think SAF is desperate.
Personally though, I would love to see Javi at the club.. Unlikely to happen?

Please please please sign Javi Martinez in January. He's the best young midfield player in the world. He's like Busquets, xabi Alonso and Wiltshire rolled into one. He's a beast. He's exactly what we are missing. He's the type of player carrick is supposed to be but with an engine, a go forward mechanism and lacking the cowardly gene. He and cleverly together could be quite special with pogba and Morrison ready to augment when needed. No more chances for carrick and Anderson who continue to let us down. Sadly fletch, giggs and park are also on the wane. Time for change is now. Javi Martinez is the catalyst we need. Keane16

Anderson has played well this season, when he isn't shackled with Carrick. Fletch has been seriously ill most of the closed season and is still short of his usual energy levels. And Park always does a solid job for us. He's no Ronaldo but his work rate and tenacity are what we need.
