Ed any truth that united could move for subotic in January {Ed002's Note - Maybe if the club are scratching around after not getting the player they are interested in.}

Believable0 Unbelievable4

The player they are interested in being Garay Ed? {Ed002's Note - Right.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Garay is quite an expensive buy, so the club must really want this guy.

He is a defender that brings the ball out from the defence like Rio used to do.

This is something we need and it will inevitably indirectly improve our midfield.

We clearly want a LB, CB and another midfielder. So I think we will see two of those positions sorted in January. Perhaps a midfielder signed in the summer. Then depending on whether or not Rooney signs a new deal, we will take a look at the attack.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really hope we don't go for garay I really don't think he is anything special

Agree0 Disagree0

Garay is good but not world class. I can see why the club maybe interested in a CB as although we have several very good young CBs in Smalling, Jones and Micheal Keane. We only Have Evans who is in his prime, Rio is past it and Vidic will be within two seasons.

My main issue with Garay is he isn't that dominant in the air, especially considering his height. He is very good bringing the ball out, but can be caught out of position at times.

To be honest I would prefer Subotic. I always prefer ro see one ball playing CB and one beast of a CB. Evans is a ball playing CB, so he needs more of a stronger prescense along side him. Which is why i'd prefer Subotic over Garay.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree jred. especially for the prices that have been quoted. Smalling, Jones, Evans are the future of our defense IMO. I think two left sided players and another CM are more important than a CB to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kind of missing the point guys, MU have been trying to agree a deal for Garay for months. This interest comes from the SAF era into the Moyes era, so both managers want Garay. Shappy, the club are looking for a Rio Ferdinand, not another Vidic. Moyes clearly doesn't rate Evans that highly and SAF obviously didn't believe he would be the long-term successor to Ferdinand. They clearly see Garay as that player. Things could change or an agreement may not be reached, but MU want Garay to replace Rio. let's not forget Luiz came from Benfica and he hit the ground running at Chelsea. Garay is at a good age now and at 26 you will start to see the best of a defender. I haven't seen enough of Garay to make a fair comment, but the club have done their research, two manager want him and he wants to join. I think this signing is imminent. Bought in January and loaned back perhaps? I think that's what the editor was hinting at.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not so sure Syd, If we have been trying to sign him and Moyes wants him that much then why wasn't a deal sorted this past summer? Benfica aren't going to drop the asking price, surely if Moyes wanted him that much then he would have pushed it through like he did the Fellaini deal at the end of the window.

I think the club had an interest during Sir Alexs time at the club and are just keeping their options open with him incase Moyes feels the need to move for him in the future. His transfer has been imminent for three windows now and hasn't happened, i'm not so sure we will see him tbh.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sure the club's excellent system has run their checks on him. But if we consider him to be so good as to be our first choice defender, why hasn't he been snapped up by one of the European giants even at the age of 26?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Amit, Shappy, both Chelsea and Barcelona have enquired for Garay. I think City also enquired at some stage in the summer. I think MU want him to replace Rio long-term so with Rio signing an extension, instead of getting him this summer they prioritised the signings and went for players we need now, as opposed to players we need next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not looking good for Johnny Evans then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Garay is no better than what we have and is no where near Ferdinand in his prime.
we need to start signing some top quality players
Subotic is a much better player and hummels is better again.

Is moyes the right man for the job? {Ed007's Note - I've set a new poll up jred.

With the season well under way, do you think that Davie Moyes is the right man for the job?

The problem, which should have been obvious, is that Moyes is excellent at dealing with secondary talent, but not at the top level.

This is the difference between SAF and Moyes. SAF gets the best out of very good players. Moyes gets the best out of less good players. Also, they know this.

The problem explained.

Agree0 Disagree2

Oh, FFS the guys had 5 league and 1 cup game in charge. Sure he's made mistakes (IMHO) but which of us including SAF don't, particularly when you're in a new job/ situation.

How was SAF so much better at getting more from the players, after 5 games last season we'd lost 2 (same as Moyes) the difference is a draw against a Chelsea side who came to OT with the intention of not losing, rather than winning, the peacock was scared of us!

Why don't you do another stupid and massively premature poll for the "Moyse Out" persons asking who they'd like instead - Di Canio anyone?

Better still a poll asking them which club they will support if Moyse stays, because United fans they ain't if they don't get behind the team AND the manager.

Agree7 Disagree0

Well turns out Moyes has the best record of any manager in their debut season at United since Sir Matt Busby and we all know we haven't seen a start to the season as tough as this one in terms of fixtures for ages.

Agree4 Disagree0

Those out with a razor for Moyes's throat need to calm down a bit. Don't be in a haste to pass your judgement. History has shown that stability is the only way to prosperity. And for things to stabilize, we need to give him time.

I, personally would be content with a CL qualification for the next season. We can take it forward after that. It's not that we won the league in all the season when SAF was in charge. I remember those dark days when Keane was about to retire and we were in all sorts of disarray. We still rebuilt and won three titles in a row.

Keep the faith, folks. We will never die.

Agree2 Disagree2

Let's ember this isn't Moyes' team. We need a good shakeup. Roy Keane said after winning you need a shakeup to be successful again. A major one hasn't happened for years and complacency kicks in, as it did against City. Rooney spat his dummy out but look at his effort this season in trying to be the main man again. Granted he probably wants to leave but we need competition for the first 11 and we haven't really had 'true' competition for years! Especially in midfield!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think all of you guys have your heads in the clouds if you think Moyes is the right man for the job and all he needs is time. He is the wrong man for the job. Simple!

Agree0 Disagree0

. so that's where we're going wrong. Listening to the advice of the successful manager Roy Keane:-)

Personally, I don't know whether Moyse is the right man for the job, only time will tell but one thing is certain Moyse ain't going anywhere any time soon - so back him and the team if you are a supporter rather than a glory person!

One thing I was absolutely certain of after just one season, and for several more after that, was that Fergie wasn't the right man for the job! That proved totally right - NOT!
