Ed is there any intrest from united in Martinez or has the price completely written us off? I remember when we played Bilbao before the match Martinez said "every player would dream of playing here" (at OT) so he would definitely be interested.

Dan {Ed004's Note - I don't think we are interested in him}

Believable8 Unbelievable9

If Martinez is not twice the player that carrick is, then I'm looking at the wrong player.......fergie suggests that carrick is the kingpin of our team but bar a twice left him with twisted blood......and they are the benchmark....I'll be very disappointed if city get him......our midfield is still not functioning

Agree1 Disagree0

I think whether its Carrick or Martinez then we should still try and sign him for a lot of reasons:
1. Carrick is 31 and next year im sure he wont be able to play every game. Martinez is 23 and would be the perfect replacement
2. He can cover in defense (better than Carrick can)
3. He can control the play and surprisingly dribble better than Carrick.

I honestly think Martinez is perfect for us now that Modric is definitely going to Real. I'm not one of those people asking for a dm. I want a technical posession player who can keep the ball and dictate the game like Scholes. The fact that he is defensively good is an added bonus. I dont think he could replace Scholes because no one can in my eyes but he is our best option all round!

Dan

Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

Martinez is THE player any team should be prioritising if they want to win trophies. Very rare you see a player that would strengthen ANY team and I include Barca in that.

Madness that we are not least TRYING to sign him!

Halesini

Agree1 Disagree0

It's a damn shame that we're not in for him. He's a fine player. He's also very versatile, can play in centre of defence too but would be an absolute colossus for us in the centre of the park as a DM and being Spanish of course he's excellent on the ball. I'd carry that boy to Manchester! No doubt any team that gets him will be better as a result. ....... Ahhh such a shame!

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on the Glazers, let's go the extra mile this year and get the team the fans deserve and get Martinez?
Red Baron

Agree0 Disagree0

If he would strengthen even Barca, then why aren't they buying him?

J - Stand

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos barca are skint!

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't think we as fans need to convince the Glazers, but convince SAF. He also has to get rid of Berba, Macheda, Nani, and Anderson to fund partially or all transfer fees for Martinez.

AIJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Although slightly different (but just ever so slightly)....schweinsteiger is the player we should be going for, he is the best midfielder in the world bar xavi (better than iniesta)

i'v actually heard he may be open to a move to OT after another year or 2 at bayern!

ED002 are you still confident we will make another move in the transfer market before Firday ?MACMAN {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

Believable20 Unbelievable9

I'm like ED002, I think we may some one.....but it may be a central defender and not a midfielder.....hope not..

I reckon Nani will be gone and Munian will be in, fingers crossed!

Sween

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence but I think the Eds could easily be filling us with false hope. Saying that United are planning to spend more so that we continue to visit their site and speculation is fuelled! {Ed002's Note - You are right I am filling you with any bits of false information I can find. Just spread them a tiny bit more.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this Witsel you are talking about Ed? {Ed002's Note - It really doesn't matter now the vegetables are restless.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 your jibes are both cutting and hilarious. Keep up the good work. Bookedredmole

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr no name. Some of we are fans of this site.. Ed002 can confirm us. So he dont need to creat false interest in this site. They r doing excellent job. We keep coming here sice last 3 years atleast whn site was in primar way. So i kno whts their reliability. They cn give us info.. They r not gods or actual transfer managers to have acurate infos. Still they finds a lot for us. So be respectful. And u wil still find me here even transfer window is shutremember the name

Any truth in the rumours Benfica need to sell?
Thx

I would remember your name but not convinced you've spelt it right!

Fabs

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get me wrong Ed002, I love the site and I wholeheartedly hope that I'm wrong and we are in for more fresh talent. But being the cynical guy I am, I'd like to hear who you think is still to join the club, and what makes you think this? Personally I've got everything crossed for Dembele or Witsel!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oooooo ed you little tease serious I would forever regard you as a legend if you threw a name out an we sign him before deadline day please help me help you ........

CAIN {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure there remains a decent chance that MUFC will pick a player up this week. I am told there has been some effort today - but I am on the road and a little out of touch.}

hi eds i was wondering if there was any new news regarding witsel? I was hoping we would act on our interest but was aware of his asking price being the problem. Is this the reason we haved moved onto dembele? Also do you believe if united were to bring in any other players it would now depend on outgoings aswel? thanks in advance tom17 {Ed002's Note - Nothing new.}

Can Ed002 clear up for us who is the most recent EPL club to show an interest in M'Vila is? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal retain an interest. If Arsenal want him he will move there.}

According to ed002 utd has cut sort his inteest.. Nd i trust him
Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, where is Tiote going then? Arsenal? United? Ed, there is loads happening at the moment even on a bank holiday, can you give us some info on some players? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Not a good week for me Syd as I am travelling through Friday night and will be several hours behind UK time. I can say that there is interest in Tiote from two London clubs.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs definately in talks.rumours from the rennes side is that man utd are keen on talks

Liam Moore Leicester city 19 year old defender might be our last signing

-*Reddy

Believable9 Unbelievable19

Just seen this in the daily mirror. Fergie said there would be no more signings after Van Persie and Henriquez when that's completed.

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be a youth signing for the U21's just like Kurt Zouma. I would expect one more senior signing.

Sydney!

So Bursaspor & Besiktas have both offered United £1m to take Kiko on loan for the season with a view to a permanent move next summer. I am sure the club will accept, but fingers crossed the player will too. The more out in the next four days, the better chance we have of a midfielder.

Sydney!

Believable25 Unbelievable6

Whats the news on berbatov is he staying or going?

R 17

Agree0 Disagree0

The club have been actively looking to sell him for over a year now, but he has been a nuisance with his demands. I think he will end up going, but the club will get a very low figure for him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Syd

Good player but needs to move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player? He's one of the worst Iv seen in a utd shirt! If he didn't score them two goals, no one would know who he is! He's piss poor!

Duggo

Agree1 Disagree2

Duggo, I think he was referring to Berbatov.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Duggo I think they were talking about berba when they said good player. I agree with you about macheda as he doesn't look like united quality to me. Bookedredmole

Agree0 Disagree0

Living of that one goal against Villa, time they let him go.

Agree1 Disagree0

We have spent around 50 million this summer so far with RVP - 24m total, Kagawa - 17m total, Buttner - 3.5/4m and Powell - 4m add Henriquez to this and that will total over 50 million. I know the fees for RVP and Kagawa will be paid in installments so maybe 17-18m up front for Rvp and 12m or so for Kagawa. We have never spent mega money in any transfer window, which leads me to believe the only activity will be outgoings.

Berba 3-5 million
Macheda 1-2 million
Bebe?
Fletcher loan?

I cannot see Nani being sold as that would leave us with 2 wingers and having the ability to shuffle is always something the manager likes. I certainly would not be happy with having only Valencia and Young as recognised wingers in the squad. Even if we got 25 million for him what would we do? Would we buy another winger like Gaitan or Muniain to replace him or would we buy a central midfielder and use Kagawa as a winger? Buttner can play wide left so he could be an option to play there. Would we even buy anyone?

If as some people are assuming and Nani, Berba, Bebe and Macheda are sold we will have around 30 million to spend there are plenty of options but I just cannot see us spending it maybe 10-12 million for Dembele and the rest used towards the debt is as good as we can hope for in that situation.

So United have had a bid rejected for Witsel & Dembele in the past couple of weeks. Will we return to either Benfica or Fulham with a higher bid by Friday? I think we will need to offload players first and that is proving to be very difficult. Fingers crossed lads.

Sydney!

Believable20 Unbelievable11

How do you know we bid for witsel syd?

JK92

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, best option for me would be let Anderson go to spurs and buy dembele , surely watching the game fergie would of seen he was the better option if we can get him

Dustbin

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope we do go back even without trimming the squad, as the squad is no different now as when we first bid. I do agree though that we do need to off-load a number of players, players with no future at OT, for me they are; Berba, Mecheda and Bebe not too sure about Nani though. Syd who do you see as surplus?
JR-Red

Agree1 Disagree0

There will be no more signings

Agree1 Disagree1

Surplus players are surely: Anderson, Berbatov, Bebe, Macheda, Nani and I hate to say it but .... Fletcher. I appreciate Fletcher will be given at least 6 months to prove his fitness because IF he could get back to full fitness it would be such a boost for the squad. However, for the others its surely time to go?

Halesini

Agree1 Disagree0

JR, Nani, Anderson, Bebe, Kiko & Berbatov. But we will be very lucky to offload all within four days. Outgoings is dependent on a number of things. A club must want them, a fee must be agreed and the player must want the move. A couple of weeks ago when the club bid for Dembele and Witsel we still had these players here, but we also had longer to get them out. I think buying a midfielder is heavily dependent on our outgoings now. Anderson will only leave if we bought a midfielder first, cannot see us risking being left short.

Four days isn't a long time and we must see some movement fast IMO.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a feeling Spurs may buy Dembele before us. They will be flush with cash.....and if you were them...who would you buy? Dembele or Anderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

The player has to want to move. Even if Spurs moved for Dembele, it's unlikely he'd agree to the transfer with us and RM waiting for him.

DarkLard08

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd,

How do we know these bids were made and how does it rest with the 'no more signings' statement from SAF ?

Pip

Agree0 Disagree0

Dembele looks quality

Agree2 Disagree0

Reports are that Benfica need to balance their books. Witsel could be a go-er? I think we will have to wait until January now, but things will be pushed at. I just think they may fall flat on the deadline and maybe revisit them later in the year if needed.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Pip, I think the manager was being coy, I think he wants one more signing, perhaps two if you include a youth signing and I think the manager needs to move players on before the club will sanction more cash. It would be irresponsible to keep buying players without selling some.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanshine, it's highly unlikely we will sign Witsel in January. I think it will be this window or nothing.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Anderson is going nowhere! He started the last game and big part of the Squad. SAF has stated clearly we won't be signing anybody else and personally I don't think we need this holding midfielder everybody talks about! It's not the way we play and we haven't had that kind of player since Keano!

Agree2 Disagree1

Keane wasn't a holding midfielder in the modern mould. He was box-to-box. Not that these Football Manager classifications really mean that much, anyway. Good players who fit into one team one way might fit into another in another way.

DarkLard08

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 has confirmed we have made a bid for Witsel.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Made a bid for Witsel before SAF stated no more business. I guess the bid wasn't enough to get to the negotiating table. Normally when SAF says no more signings he means it

Agree0 Disagree0

M'vila quoted at circa £12-£15M with a similar figure required for Dembele (embarrassed our m/f on Sat!). Surely one of these would be a sound acquisition.

Agree0 Disagree0

We haven't had that kind of player since Kean it is true, but SAF has been trying to turn Ando into a box-to-box type since he arrived. When he has his good days you can see exactly why SAF wants this, but this will probably be his last season with us unless he starts delivering consistently.

As for why we need that type, well simply put we are unable to dominate in midfield. When Fletch was fit he was all over the place hassling the opposition, winning the ball and putting thier midfield under pressure so they'd make mistakes. Without him all our midfield know how to do is pass the ball, we need someone who can win it back and dominate the centre. As Fellaini and Dembele have done to us in the last two games, and players like Toure did last season.

We aren't talking about a defensive or holding midfielder, but a ball winner or powerfull box-to-box midfielder.

Ive been informed by a relative who works for a national paper that for several weeks fergie has been touting nani around Europe. This is because of his redicious wage demands from a inconsistent performer and the player unwilling to play on the left. With only 2 years left on nanis contract united will accept bids between £12-£15m. This will set up a scramble for his signature between zenit, real, Paris sg and Chelsea. I've been told united will reinvest in defensive cover, such as raul Albiol who is listed at real. Kurt zouma, or Miguel San Jose of athletic. Any thoughts

Believable7 Unbelievable31

Well if its from someone who works for a national paper, it must be true!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see United accepting between £12-£15m for him. United paid £17m for him. He had a bad game against Everton but I don't see what the fuss is all about... everyone has bad games. It's not like it's week after week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like your relative is spinning you a yarn.
£12-£15mil?

He's worth twice that, easily.

Agree1 Disagree0

Try doubling that amount fool. If Nani was available for that little everyone would want him, even teams like Sunderland, QPR, Stoke etc. Nani will sell for a minimum of £25m.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

If he was available for 12-15m then I would expect every club in the league would be snapping our hands off.

25m min and can not see him going for less...

Agree1 Disagree0

If Steve Fletcher is worth £14m then Nani is at least double that
ARB

Agree1 Disagree0

They will take that if it looks like no reasonable new deal can be done.Imo he is very much surplus to requirements at OT poor at set pieces, poor form on average and a large pay packet don't make new deals easy to broker.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is week after week cornor after cornor 20 mil an I'd snap a hand off

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

Ermm.... In Nani's case it's ALMOST every other week...

Agree0 Disagree0

20m not worth more than that produces more bad stuff than good

Agree0 Disagree0

I think hes far too up n down in form

would sell him for the right price alot more than 15 mill try 25 and let him go!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, you're the fool! Again. Would you pay £30m for Nani....No? Thought not and if the people on here wouldn't then neither would another club. Throw into the mixture that he only has one season left till he gets down to his final 12 months, along with 2 yrs salary saved then, yes, it could be possible for utd to get rid for £15m.... not saying I agree but it's possible.

Just heard a rumour that United may be willing to loan Fletcher out for this season to Sunderland, in order for him to regain fitness. I would love if he regained his previous quality and skills so this may be an ideal solution.

Believable9 Unbelievable21

I think u maybe on to something. If it was true I think Fergie would want to keep him closer to Mancsville though. Wigan or a lower league club to raise his game.

Thinking about it though, him sting in the under 20's maybe good for the likes of Tunners, Petrucci & Powell to learn off.

Was in touch with my Spanish friend and he has told me due to reports of a bust up between SAF and Nani they are on red alert just like when SAF had a bust up with ruud, anyways IF Nani goes I am told that we will either ask for ozil( Madrid probably won't give him up) or use the money and sign Iker Munian, Bilbao have said 25 million and they will sell, and we will probably get 25 million for Nani, I think this could go somewhere, I'll keep you posted if I find out more.

Caolán.

Believable21 Unbelievable40

If only this were true. A top top player in the making. His performance in the second half of uefa cup final with his side 2-0 down spoke volumes of his ability and his character in one so young. The anti nani in many ways. Please let this come to pass
