Hi ed. I have a source that tells me about transfers. It's michael johnsons dad (who plays for city on loan at Leicester) I grew up with michael and am stil in regular contact with him. His dad tells me deals so I can earn a bit at the bookies, he's not always 100% correct but up to now he's told me bout city signing yaya, silva, ballotelli, kolorov and aguero, he also told me bout jones and de gea to united, this is before they wer announced. The onli 2 he has been wrong about was tevez to Corinthians and sneijder to united but as we kno these both nearly happened so he is quite reliable! Anyway today he was telling me to put a sneaky bet on united signing albiol, he sed he's not heard anything concrete but there's a possibility. Jus wondering if u had heard anything?

I don't read the guardian pal, I read the s**t papers like the sun and the star so if I was jus writing paper talk down I'd b writing stuff like "were gonna sign kaka, or were gonna sign modric" cos that's wot I read in the paper, iv never once read the guardian in my life. Put ur name next time u joke

As in Raul Albiol from Real Madrid who plays at Left Back?

The only way we will sign another Left Back is if Evra is sold. We've got Fabio and Fryers who is just about to break himself into the first team.

I wouldn't waste your money on that bet mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't be signing Raul Albiol in January.

Fergie said if our long term target becomes available then he will make a signing in jan is wesley sneijder our long term target?Inter are ready to sell him in jan do u think fergie will sign him now ?? {Ed002's Note - I suspect there may be interest if the deal (Transfer fee and critically the package for the player) suits Manchester United - and that may not be as easy as you think.}

Believable23 Unbelievable4

I really really really hope we don't there's better out there and i'd rather wait till summer if it means getting one of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Modric is SAF's long-term target, but I think he is unlikely to say the least. Modric would fit like a glove into our team and would improve us significantly.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's obvious it's Modric, i think we went for WS towards the end of last summer when he realised Levy was being serious when he said 'not for sale at any price'. Let's be honest the only two realistic targets that could improve our current team is Modric or Sneijder, with Modric being the younger, cheaper(wages) and with EPL experience already to his name. Any of you people who think we'll buy someone young thats going for crazy money.. well ..you're just crazy. Never happened before and never will with SAF. We have plenty of youth in our squad, specifically in midfield! Tis essential to balance it out with experience as well..

I dont know I think theres a few players that would improve our team tbh - Ozil, Schweinsteiger and Martinez to name just another 3........

I would be more than happy to get any of the 5 mentioned, but Modric would be my preferred option as he's a good age, on attainable wages and has EPL experience

Yes but i mean realistically, it would take a lot of money to get Schweinsteiger out of the Allianz arena. Buyen wouldn't want to sell him and he probably doesn't want to leave himself. Ozil again would cost a lot, only moved to RM last year and is playing very well. Finally Martinez would probably cost a hefty amount too given that he has high potential and a lot of clubs are interested.. Besides while he's still young it's a gamble seeing if and how fast he'd adapt to the premier league and life in england, whereas with Sneijder he's played a lot of international football, played in three different leagues and being 27 he'll know the game inside out! Modric obviously being the target best fit to come in and make the team stronger straight from the word go.

I honestly cant see saf making any signing i hope im wrong but if he was to do we have realistic funds that if we were to bid for modric or senijder ?, i was getting sick of ppl saying use the kids like pogba and morrison but maybe he should......

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald,

You say these players are unlikely due to cost but if you factor in wages as well as transfer fee Sneijder may well be the most expensive option of all?

Anyway like I said I would want Modric all day long

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder's the only one that springs to mind as being a long-term target.

Everyone else we're being linked with are all short-term like Ganso, Goetze, Elm etc...

Manchester United will officially complete the signing of AZ Alkmaar ace Rasmus Elm in June.
Reports from Italian newspaper Calcio Mercato have suggested the champions have agreed a deal to sign Elm and the move will become official in the summer, subject to a medical.
United have tracked Elm for over a year and have been impressed with the midfielder playing in the Eredivisie.
Elm, the younger brother of David - who once played for Fulham - is a Sweden international and the deal is rumoured to be worth around £5m.
The 23-year-old's current contract expires in 2013 and AZ have agreed to sell him because he has shown a reluctance to pen a new deal amid United's interest.

I could see that as a typical Fergie move, whilst everyone is looking the other way at your Gotze's, Ozil's & Sneijder's he jumps in there for someone else.

Cheap so would leave money for other signings as well, but the big question is: is he good enough?

hello eds..a question..with vidic out..ferdinand constantly injured..and now evans on the injury list..and smalling and jones also carrying niggles..do you think fergie will go in for CB?just to strengthen things at the back?

Rudi {Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

Believable13 Unbelievable6

Than i suppose dont be surprise if SAF do bid for Cahill....

Agree0 Disagree0

Smalling and Jones are ill, not carrying niggles. If anyone watched Cahill yesterday they would have witnessed how poor he really is. Decent back-up, but could never be a regular for us.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Id rather take Alex from Chelsea than his replacement in Cahill. I dont think we need anothet ctr half though really, I think midfield is our only issue. Get in a decent ctr mid and i can see us making it number 20

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more, I have said for weeks now that we need a few players, but I have said that the real issue was our confidence and now it has come back, we are back firing. Alex wants regular football, he will not get that at United. I also think he is too slow in reacting.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

If he does splash out SAF should get someone like Rodwell.. Like Jones Rodwell can play in mid and in defense also.pls correct me if I am wrong but I remember he started out as a center half before becoming a midfield regular. This would give us back up at the mack and in the middle of the park. Adding to that, the recent lineups in matches and the positions the united players are playing would be indicative of the emphasis SAF is placing on flexibility within the squad. I think Rodwell fits perfectly into this plan. Maybe not top quality now but in a couple of years he should be really good.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think mats hummels will solve our problems....... :)

Alan Brazil said he'd heard deal for Cahill was sorted
Also Jaan Aage Fjortoff stated on twitter he'd hear Hummels and Goetze were in the bag
So be prepared for none of the above

How would Fjortoft know anything relating to United transfers, sounds odd to me.
