bargain of the window would be afellay for 4m
along with Sneijder/Nasri and De Rossi and we are in business.
i think Evra is the key with Nasri. Things arent over yet in terms of this marquee stella signing we are hoping for. maybe be one or two more signings so things seem positive.
In Fergie we TRUST. United Till I Die

Pity to see Oliver Gill leaving :( Looked a great talent especially after winning Reserves Player of the Year hope he succeeds wherever he goes and maybe thinking of coming back to football

Believable15 Unbelievable3

Yes, I have heard the news that Oliver has turned down a new contract to study at University. I believe the course either to be business studies or finance. I wish him all the best. Good luck to you, and maybe we wish see you back once you graduate

Agree0 Disagree0

2bh oliver gill was an ok player never going to be anything special and he was only with us because of his dad
THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree0

Only with us because of his dad...but good enough to win youth team player of the year and be offered a new contract?

Think again sunshine.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh i must be wrong then if he has won youth team player of the season that means hes a fantastic player(rolls eyes in sarcasm) there have been many young players doing so well in youth teams and didnt make it for example i remember when kevin nolan was comeing through the ranks at bolton and evrey1 was saying hes the next big thing bin voted player of the season true hes a gud player but didnt live up 2 expectations plus gill is 20 and hasnt looked like breaking into the 1st team

The Roma player is more than likely vucinic. Don't see the point in buying him when we cud put that money towards buying a midfielder. We've plent of quailty up front and not enough creative flair in midfield. Jason mc

Aguero to City will trigger Tevez to Inter will trigger Sniedjer to OT. There's a chain. It's like buying a house. Only more expensive and the previous owners aren't trying to hide the dry rot. Although maybe that was what happenned with Hargreaves... Hidden dry rot.

Believable20 Unbelievable7

Either that or the fact he was made out of glass.

1redarmy

Agree0 Disagree0

Why? aguero is an atletico madrid player not inter, so how is that a chain?

Agree0 Disagree0

City have a replacement so are prepared to sell Tevez. Inter want funds for Tevez and therefore acept offers for WS. It's not a financial chain, more one action triggering another.

The price for Ganso will be around £25M, possibly up to £30M

Take a look at the squad tonight and Saturday except for Fletcher this will be as close as the starting 11 we will get. DeRossi is odds on favorite of being the mid we pick up. His agent is also in the firm that SAF's buddy Charlie Stilatano works for. Charlie is the guy that is bringing MANUTD to the US each year. The other thing I've heard is that we are close to signing three young Brazilians; Adryan, Lucas (Not the Liverpool flop), and Ganso who is the best of the lot and could be Scholes long term replacement. Lots of competition for the three but inside job being worked on getting the three. Don't forget we still have Morrison and Pogba if Morrison can stay out of jail the future is bright for the lad, just needs to grow up.

The Neviller

Agree0 Disagree0

The Neviller

Berbatov' style does not match our pattern of play and we have to change to accommodate him every time he comes on. He has 1 year left on his contract, so are we gullible enough to give him a new one to sit on the bench at best, let the old one run out so he can leave for free next summer or , my preferred option, sell him now for what we can get?

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

And sign who? How much would you get for a 30 year old in the last year of his contract, and how much would a player of his class cost to replace him?

The Neviller

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov without a doubt has got the class but I do think the time is right to let him go, his wages are huge and he does'nt deserve to be on the bench, he could offer a lot more to another team.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

True his style is languid. However, he is one of the most skillful and talented footballers we have currently who at times drifts past defenders as if they are not there and his touch is second to none.

Seeing That Manchester City Are Set To Sign Kun Aguero for a Hefty Sum. I say we buy His Younger Brother Ken Aguero. This rumour was Quite Popular in the Main site this time last year, can't seem to get hold of it anywhere. What do you think Ed(the original Ed of the main site)? Maybe he could be the solution to our age old Central Midfield Troubles.

Lucas has had a bid lodged for him, I will be so happy if this is us and we can negotiate a deal for him. I thought this would be dead in the water when we were linked and with the Neymar saga and his buyout clause.

He's a fantastic talent and would be delighted if he came to Manchester United.

Sanshine {Ed002's Note - Manchester United have been amongst several clubs to enquire - Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSV, Benfica and no doubt many others. The bid for the player was not however placed by Manchester United - and it was in any case rejected.}

1redarmy

'jred'

It's nothing to do with his agent bud, the club will decided whether or not to keep him, I would be amazed if Berbatov is a United player come September.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
the players have the power now if he wants to run down his contracted whats to stop him, he wont be the first to do it.
also who going to pay a transfer fee and give him the wages his on now , if stops one more year and leaves next year for nothing his must have a better chance of getting good wages.
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

'1redarmy & jred'

Berbatov's contract runs out June 30th 2012, but United have the choice to extend his contract to June 2013. Berbatov has no say in the matter, it's a condition built into his contract.

I imagine Sneijder would have a similar condition built into his contract if he signs. It's pretty clever really.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd if you rember i posted the same thing last week not sure how it works do they have to offer him improved terms or just continue on the contract that his on , or is it just a clever way of stopping him walking away for nothing.
I would keep him not sure we would get anyone any better for the money we would get for him , and we dont need another young striker as we got plenty

Does anyone else think city have just signed one quality striker who is gonna give them the edge over a lot of prem teams

Believable27 Unbelievable18

No doubt he is a quality striker but will not harry and chase around like Tevez
and another massive outlay a reputed 38
transfer fee and 250k per week over 5 years making it a grand total of 98 million
WOW
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe but they are also losing one who did give them the edge over most teams.

1redarmy

Agree0 Disagree0

They've signed a quality player not sure if he will give them any more than tevez , but looking forward to seeing him play in the premiership
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends if they keep Tevez or not, Aguero is not as good as Tevez and can go missing in games. But both of them together would be slightly worrying.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Got a feeling city will have tevez, s services till january

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a bit concern that we practically have the same middle as we did last season. The middle is weak, no stability, no real creative threat, no one that dictates the game ( slow it down, speed it up, link defense to midfield, midfield to forwards, or midfield to goal etc). The necessity is overwhelming and it seems as if we aren't getting it done. Go ahead break the bank, deal with the important things. a car is as fast as the capabilities of the engine. Get it done SAF. diego

Agree0 Disagree0

He is no better then tevez also he may struggle to settle in..

Agree0 Disagree0

Was gonna say pretty much what syd said, Aguero is a great player no doubt about that, but he isn't better than tevez (IMO tevez is the second best striker in the EPL behind rooney) but if tevez stays, which i think he will atleast for a bit considering his international teammate has just turned up, the pair of them WILL be deadly

Agree0 Disagree0

Yup they will. that is y i am concern.... Our midfield is little above average, aint good enough. Get nasri and ganso and diarra. solid..

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2011 16:44:08
just a thought.. instead of spending 35+ mil on sneijder. why not buy de rossi who is in last year of contract for around 15 mil maybe. and then get nasri for 20 mil. much better business if you ask me. will make our midfield solid.

Believable32 Unbelievable4

Those two would really complete our midfield, certainly good immediate fixes for sure and would give us a lot of tactical flexibility. But i think its 1 midfielder and maybe a striker (possibly in january) for us.

REDFAITH

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on.... tho i like the idea of sneijder at OT by the start of the season, what you say has some logic to it and sound feasible. very economic imho. If only the staff at OT read the forums and the comments on some of these and news sites then they could hear our views as fans and see if what we say has any sense to it. diego

Agree0 Disagree0

Also, get rid of Gibson and get in Lass Diarra, along with de rossi and nasri, Solid middle imo. diego

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh and are you gonna tell david gill this and nasri and de rossi's agents? better tell arsenal and roma too.

Its all easy to say. Not easy to do. Nice idea though.

1redarmy

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if we sign sneijder or nasri they will have to be complemented with an aggressive ball winning midfielder like de rossi.a combo of sneijder or nasri with carrick would be an absolute disaster.we would be over run in the centre of the park just like the champ league final and fa cup semi v s**tty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks, i get the feeling we wont be getting a striker until next summer. fergie has said hes a wide choice of strikers available and with berba looking like hes staying for another year i cant see it. but it is an area in need of improvement but midfield is 1st on the list and the 2 players iv said will be ideal.

Agree0 Disagree0

We dnt really need a striker right now as we already got rooney, little pea, macheda, owen, berba, nani, young who is all capable of scoring goals. Our problem is having a solid and consistent midfield who is providing our forwards and strikers with goal scoring opportunity. my thought tho..... diego

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2011 16:19:49
please someone take the following - obertan, welbeck, evans, carrick, berbatov, anderson they aint good enough, i can see it, and so can everyone else, united got away with it last season, due to chelsea having a mid life crisis, and their team being past it, arsenal and their stubborn manager, man city being full of mercenaries and a negative manager, liverpool having a squad full of average players, spurs having no 1 to score goals, i cant see them getting away with it again.

Believable23 Unbelievable21

Why dont you stop worrying about what other teams are doing and try supporting utd, best team always wins the league and utd were the best, time and time again 'fans' like you are proved wrong by fergie, dont you think he deserves a bit more credit than your showing? phil

Agree0 Disagree0

Its spot on if you ask me, thought about it many a time when we struggle away to so called inferior teams

Agree0 Disagree0

Whilst I agree with the players you have mentioned not being good enough, chelsea still have an ageing team, arsenal still have a stubborn manager, city are still full of mercenaries with a negative manager in charge and Liverpool have bought more average players.
I think we have replaced the goalkeeper. G.nev was embarrassing in his last few performances and we now have enough defensive cover for Raphael with Jones in. Scholes knew he wasn't at his best, or he wouldn't have gone, and young gives us more options and allows others to play in different positions. Add to this the fact that pogba is an absolute class apart and I think things are looking pretty bright.
Dingle.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a weird season last season. All teams seemed to have belief at home. Luckily for all the moaners we had the most belief at home.

1redarmy

Agree0 Disagree0

Let me guess u want sneijder pastore aguero messi ronaldo, anderson is class proved it when he was fit last year and carrick is mr consistent j evans will be a great center back remember a year ago he marked drogba out of the match in both games obertan still unproven but at times has shown signs of genius like against wolfsberg last season/season before fergie will sign one more player who it is i got no idea but it wont be de rossi cos hes nothin like scholes or schweinstiger cos he just signed a new contract an would cost too much maybe sneijder with nike helping with his wages and maybe nasri depending on how desperate gunners get for money or if they hold strong on him so jus chill our midfied is just short 1 atm but we may buy 2 we have pleanty of quality already

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep Welbeck and definitely Anderson. But get Carrick as far away from the club as possible

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say add bebe to that list as well obertans better then him and thats saying something but i wouldent get rid of anderson

Agree0 Disagree0

The only one to get rid of is Carrick. The rest are either not being given enough play time or are still very early in their careers, don't worry

Agree0 Disagree0

Its impossible to let go the bunch of players you listed, although i agree with you.
Here's my opinion-
Berbatov- i dont mind him being at United. He has world class technique except that he is usually a one-match wonder. Just require consistence from him.
Carrick- I cannot understand how he is usually in the starting-11. he doesn't have the attitude (attacking), not a good passer (creater of chances) and doesn't have United style of play-how many times have he killed counter attacks?
As for others (Obertan, Evans, Anderson and i include Gibson as well), they are proven fringe players and will always be fringe players.
Welbeck deserves a chance.

GoEzManUnited

Agree0 Disagree0

I only agree with you on carrick...hes a turnover machine and hasnt been the same since the first Barca final. as for the others youre way off base...all useful or young enough to progress further

Hulks agent claims porto have rejected a 80 mill bid for him from an undisclosed club...
Ok he's good but 80 mill euros, that too rejected
bah..
I cant understand this world anymore
DJ

Believable8 Unbelievable16

His agent is just trying to drum up interest in the player, no way would any team offer that much money for Hulk

BONEYJOE69

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats obviously a lie as it would mean he is nearly going for a similar price as ronaldo and he is no where near as good as ronaldo prob just agent making it up

Agree0 Disagree0

This is true, i can't understand why teams weren't more interested in hulk before he signed a new contract with an 80 mil buyout clause, but now it looks as if he definitely will stay put. I reckon he'd be a great addition to united as he is a similar build to rooney which is good for EPL and buckets of skill. think it's because his stats from seasons before the previous one weren't too good, only in the last season he has blossomed but i think teams think he's too much of a risk for the price they'd (porto) demand

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2011 15:32:09
I've been looking around but who thinks we should be having a closer look at Miralem Pjanic? the man's a goal threat, creative and has a wealth of experience. Not overly impressive assist rate or goals, but has played 2 seasons at Lyon who are now not the force they once were.

He's young and versatile lets not forget, and I think he would be available for a lot less than Lyon usually ransom their players for I think Manchester United would be a perfect place to further his career and improve the squad. What are people's thoughts on here?

Sanshine

Believable15 Unbelievable4

I admire him he has an eye for goal very good passing and is practically two footed could do well with us

Agree0 Disagree0

Good call Sanshine, I think he would be a good player for us, he is just 20 too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly, a 20 year old creative mid who's had 3 full seasons with 2 french clubs. I think he will make the step up pretty soon, but I bet we will see him go to another premier league club like Tottenham. If I were Lyon though, I would keep him over Gourcuff any day

Just read that United have been in contact with Roma over Vucinic, Now i'm assuming this is just a precaution for if Berbatov leaves, so what's everybody's opinions?

Vucinic for £15 Million? or Berbatov?

Personally I'd rather have Berbatov but i'm a huge admirer of the lad.

The Moon.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Was talking about this earlier, i reckon vucinic would be a more reliable back up striker than berba, however i think berba has something special about him and don't really want him to go. He's just having bad form of late just like what wayne went through...

Agree0 Disagree0

You gotta be one of the few that do, hes lazy and not a player utd want or need, sooner he goes the better

i would love man utd to sign a new right back. after o shea and brown departure i think that we need a right back. what about a move for a young full back? maybe adriano of barcelona?

Believable4 Unbelievable16

We don't need a right-back, it's a left-back we need if possible. Rafael & Fabio are our right-backs.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio is left and if rafael is injured man utd need to play that position ouf of position players and that is the worst thing to to in a team

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio is now a right-back along with Rafael, SAF played Evans at Left-back ahead of Fabio in the last game. Fabio & Rafael will be our right-backs for next season mate, Smalling with play on occasions. It's left-back that we are a little short in. Evra cannot keep playing 50 games a season.

David Gill is just trying to increase ticket sales ready for the new season. Fergie is right we wont be signing anybody else. We have no money

Believable5 Unbelievable24

And how do you know this nugget of information? that we have no money

Not a single penny? Nothing in the club's bank account at all? we're bankrupt then?

Since we're now bankrupt, would the last person out of Old Trafford turn the light off on their way out, don't want the administrators having a massive electricity bill to sort out

SAF never said we won't be signing anymore players, that is all in your head lad. He said we won't sign anyone before the Community shield game on the 7th August. There is still more than three weeks left after this date to bring in a central midfielder.

Gill confirmed exactly what SAF said, that they want a player but he is not available at the moment. Doesn't mean he won't be before September. It's all about negotiation and a deal should be done the closer it gets to deadline day.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

You honestly think Gill would do that to increase ticket sales? ..yeah don't think so myself.

it's pretty simple to understand what they're saying which is that they're trying to bring in someone to improve our midfield (everyone knows it's a midfielder) but they're not sure if it will happen for many reasons, but they are trying..

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever sent this in is a complete tool - no money? wheres the £65m come from tht we spent on young, jones and de gea come from then?
and if the world class midfielder we obviously need is available then the £25m+ would be made available
wish I was as skint as that

How can we increase ticket sales when there is a waiting list for season tickets for the next 4 or 5 years. If theres one thing that united is good at(other than football) then it is selling out. Guarantee you united have the highest average attendance of any premier league team.

Just seen this on Talksport

Manchester United and Barcelona have made moves for Flamengo teenager Adryan.

United have been long-term admirers of the 16-year-old, and even attempted to take him to Manchester for a trial last April.

That move fell through, but Old Trafford representatives watched him again at the recent Under-17 World Cup in Mexico, and have now joined Bar a in making contact with agent Rodrigo Pitta.

Pitta has confirmed talks have taken place, but warned interested parties must first agree a fee with Flamengo before more serious negotiations can begin. That appears to be easier said than done, however, with the Rio based outfit hopeful of keeping the exciting playmaker, who's contract expires in 2014.

Rumours in the Brazilian media this week suggested Flamengo may be prepared to negotiate on their £10million asking price if the player is signed and paid for now, but then allowed to stay with the Brazilian club until his 18th birthday before completing a move to Europe.

man utd to sign vucinic for 15 mil. i don't knw wjy we are buying an other striker. a young fulback or midfielder would be simply better, in fergie we believe

Believable1 Unbelievable18

Hope this is a loada tosh, much rather keep berba.
yeah he was a bit of a flop in the previous season but then again he was the joint top goal scorer in the league, and without him we may not of won. If you watch hundreds of videos of berbatov you'd notice he has this insane ball control and his every touch of the ball is perfect, he's just lacking confidence atm and fitness too i believe. Not joking but think i saw a picture of him smoking a rollie too :

Agree0 Disagree0

So signing Vucinic (which would surely be Fergie's idea) is a bad idea, as signing a fullback or a midfielder is a better idea? Meaning you know better than Fergie? But in Fergie we believe?

tbh i would take schweinsteiger ova both.

expect the last player signed no more than 2 days b4 the window closes.

Its getting really boring reading that Schweinsteiger is the replacement for Paul Scholes.... he's not, he's a completely different player Schweinsteiger breaks up play and recycles possession. Would Roy Keane ever be asked to play a Paul Scholes role? Or De Jong play the David Silva role? NO. Schweinsteiger is not the solution to a lack of creativity I think we should look at Stevan Jovetic, the guy has talent in abundance, is only 21 and would be a LOT cheaper than most others. Yes, he was injured the whole of last season but that was due to a damaged cruciate ligament in his right knee. So it's not like he's injury prone either

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Bastian used to play on the wing, then moved more infield to a CM/CAM role, he's only played a more defensive role in the latter stages of his career because he can and was needed too, he is a top top player so maybe he isn't exactly like paul scholes so what? he'd be better than or on the same level as anyone we've been linked to.
an incredibly valuable player to any team, Bayern know he is the heart of their team and its starting to go that way with the german nation team as well

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you about jovetic but he is a winger now your being hypocritical saying would you ask de jong to play in silvas postion now your saying lets bring in a winger 2 replace scholes thats like saying c ronaldo 2 replace scholes, i know lets buy buffon 2 replace scholes your quaoting the wrong players postion wise so i will 2, if we wanna replace scholes lets buy xavi coz when re retires pogba n morrison will be there 2 take over
THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree0

Buy Xavi... I dont think Barca would sell him tbf. Oh and btw Jovetic can play on the wing, but he is more of a CAM so I agree with this guys comments :) but personally we should look at Pjanic, Muller (very unlikely) or Pastore (very expensive)

Not heard or seen this guys name for a while, but I still think we should sign Xerdhan Shaqiri, looks great already and could be nurtured into a world class player for a year or 2 in the reserves. For anything under £10 mill I think that'd be a bargain.

Why don't we go for Ibrahim Affelay? He would be great value at 3-5 mill.

Would be a good fix for the central midfield area, if we can't get Sneijder.

What are your thoughts Ed?

Believable16 Unbelievable8

He will cost closer to £10m, perhaps more. Barcelona only paid a pittance because he had six months left on his contract. I hear Spurs are interested, but maybe offered to Arsenal as part of the Cesc deal?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally if we were to go for Affelay then I would want someone else brought in aswell. He would be a good squad player but imo isn't the fix we need in centre mid. Also we don't want to start buying players from other top sides who cannot get in their starting 11 because that is not going to improve us.

Rjmanutd

Agree0 Disagree0

Been thinking about this quite a bit over the last day or two and i'm starting to warm to the idea, hasn't really excelled at barca because of the pressure of getting into the first team and just the fact there isn't really any room.
for the price i'd agree with syd, they wouldn't sell him for 4 mil, 10 is more realistic which is still cheap for someone of his age and he does get quite a bit of playing time with barca so he can defintely play at the highest level, think he would get better once he leaves barca

World class, available and can play AM
Modric
Nasri
Sweinsteiger
Xavi
Sneijder
Villa
Either one will do

Believable5 Unbelievable22

Villa is too slow to be an AM'er, Schweinsteiger & Xavi are not available. Modric and Sneijder could be too expensive and Nasri looks like he will either run down his contract at Arsenal and leave for free, or he will sign for City in the next few weeks. Out of them, Sneijder is probably the most likely, followed by Mods and then Nasri. Forget about the rest mate.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah half of these aren't really "available" some would be easier than others, villa? fairly sure he is a forward, not a mid besides he's too much and too old

Agree0 Disagree0

Schweinsteiger is not an AM an there is no chance he would come, be a cold day in hell when that happens

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I think Sneijder is a great player he certainly doesn't represent any value. The figure of £80 million is being spoken about including 4 years wages and then there is no resale value. If he arrives we have ourselves and excellent player playing at the peak of his game but I hope we get someone in who is younger, cheaper and full of potential, someone who we can get at least 6 years out of. Who that may be, I don't know.

Agree0 Disagree0

You know, resale value or not, sneijder is exactly what this team needs right now, at 27 years of age he's got atleast 4-5 years of playing at the peak, during that time players like pogba, morrison etc. will already be playing regular football, not to mention the biggest factor players lose with age is speed, and altho sneijder's definetely not slow, speed is definetely not his greatest asset...look at scholes & giggs, playing at such a high level at the age of 36 & 37, meaning sneijder could last 10 years...otherwise if we don't get sneijder I would love Nasri to come and join us, seeing as he's also 3 years younger and proven in the EPL (altho atm Sneijder is a better player IMO)

sneijder is fantastic but his missus is even better lolId love to see even one of these 2 top players at UTD , bastian sweinsteiger or wesley sneijder, or even both even tho I think we need 1 holding and 1 attacking midfielder, and possibly a new striker coz i dn think berba owen are good enough at the mo.i dnt think itl happen, evenso i think those two are the only world class players that wud suit utd and would guaratee brilliant job

Believable14 Unbelievable1

guys just a thought....as it has been stated by David Gill today we are going for 1 more 'world class' signing. It seems it will be one of either Sneijder (32m), Nasri (20m), Modric (30m or 20m+Berbatov) however cant see Modric coming and Fergie seems content on keeping Berba and he is committed like anything. He really does love being at the club and its great to see. Other possibilities could be De Rossi (15m) and Schweinsteiger (35-40m). Now i am not going to speculate who it will be but i would personally love to see De rossi and Sneijder if Nasri goes to City and cant see Bastian coming United but he would be perfect such an outstanding player. If he were to leave i believe United is his preferred destination. Now what are your thoughts on Ibrahim Afellay of Barca ? Heard that Barca are willing to offload him for a mere 4m as Sanchez has joined. Imo the bargain of the century i know spurs are interested but i think he would be a very good buy. He would be amazing at 4m seeing as tho sunderland spent 13m on unproven yet talented Connor Wickham and wolves spent 5m on Jamie O'Hara. Thoughts eds ?

Park 3 Lung

Believable17 Unbelievable2

I agree with de rossi and would love to see affellay here as he used to brilliant at psv but just hope his confdence and talent havent faded and i know he hasnt been there long but it cant be good for him being so far down the pecking order.
red paddy

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem i see with signing from barca, is that the player will just want to rejoin in a few seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely worth a punt on Afellay he is quality & better than Bebe & Obertan, problem is he would probably have the problems @ OT with Nani, Valencia & Young ahead of him.
I wouldn't worry about him wanting back to Barca though as mentioned above, it's not like he's a local lad & been through their youth system like Pique or Fabregas, I don't think he's even been there a year has he?
ajk

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said it before, I'll say it again. De Rossi isn't as good as what we already have. He is a horribly over-rated player and would struggle to cope with the pace of the Premier League. Schweinsteiger is quality but a) won't leave Munich and b) has a huge ego and would be difficult to manage. I wouldn't consider him for that reason. Fergie doesn't like his footballers to be celebrities and Schweinsteiger likes to be a celebrity.

Afellay is nowhere near the standard of what we already have in Valencia, Nani, Young and Park.

DarkLard08

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree. Only players signed as a teenager will want to go back at some point. Someone like Affellay would leave Barca and probably see that he has wasted a few months of his career. And by wasted I mean wasted playing time. Obviously he'd be happy with the medals he has been handed.

eljero elia to sign as a back up winger

Believable1 Unbelievable9

We don't need 'a back up winger' when we have Young, Park, Nani, Valencia, Welbeck, Obertan and if the Vucinic rumours have anything behind them (which I doubt) he can also play on the wing.

Does anyone think that if iniesta or xavi got injured barca are totally beatable?strength in depth?

Believable16 Unbelievable4

Barca are beatable full stop. Arsenal beat them at the emirates. Yes the outplayed us in the final and were the best team last year but that doesnt mean they cant be beaten even with Xavi and Iniesta. They outplayed an uninspiring United midfield last season but with the right signings we can get back on par.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Barcelona are well beatable I can't remember myself but before that final when was the last time they beat an English side in England arsenal, Chelsea and united beat them... They were the better side on the night there were very few mistakes by united that night... If xavi and inesta are out of that side there weaker but every player who has trained with barc including fabergas play the same style get the ball back quick hold it and calm short quick passing

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the post before mine.. for example Thiago Alcantara who they've just re-signed, is like a young xavi just without as good vision and lack of experience but none the less good enough to plug in the gap if either xavi/iniestathediver got injured

but if anyone can beat them this year, united can
