"The Van Persie case doesn’t cross my mind," Wenger told the assembled press. "We have had no offers. He is close to fitness, of course, but we have not had any contact about him at all.
mancini also confirmed today that city have not made a bid.

strange whats going on?

I think he means no formal bid (in writing). Either that or he means no serious bids.

Sydney!

Brinkmanship. Arsenal will be left with an asset that will most probably tumble in value if the transfer deadline passes in August. Unless he has a storming start to the EPL the current chat of £20m value will be easily halved come January. I read it that AFC are trying to drum up some interest!

Bramm

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because he said it, it doesn't mean it's true. He doesn't have any obligation to tell the truth to the press. I prefer to believe Fergie who only admitted our interest in RVP when it was leaked by Arsenal.

Juve director also said yesterday
" Talk of our real interest in him seems excessive to me.â€

So Both Juventus director and Man City manager Roberto Mancini have admitted neither have made bids for Robin Van Perise and we are the only ones to have after Fergie admitted it. Personally not that bothered and am more interested in Lucas Moura but if we did get Van Persie that would be a massive step to title number 20...

fearny

Believable11 Unbelievable6

Fearny, Miguel Delaney who claims to have good United sources who to be fair is pretty dead on most of the time. He says the manager still wants all three of Baines, RVP & Moura. That the Moura deal is still expected to be completed and the manager is very keen to bring RVP to the club. He believes Baines is a formality. We will see what happens, but this is news since the IPO collapse so if he is right it means the IPO will not effect our signings.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Who is miguel delaney...

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are right syd this would be great news but I can just not understand why no dm/cm

we have all known for 4 years that our mid-field needed changing. moura & RVP would enhance our attack but what about the one area we all know we are lacking in......

if fergie seriously thinks carrick, scholes are good enough to win the epl& CL then i am sorry he is wrong. anderson and clevs started last season on fire, but 2 things..

1. we were still wide open.
2. how many games will they play.
We have a great group of players coming through but are they ready now and will fergie be brave enuogh to play them. I know you think pogba would still have gone even if he had played more last season but i just think he would have felt more wanted and stayed.. Shame as i think he could have become a world class player for us. Still
We need 1 if not 2 players in there now.
Really hope there is someone he is looking at.... time will tell

oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

So Syd you believe that we will still sign those three? Gotta say I'm disappointed that there has been no further mention of Eriksen. Although that may be a good thing! Perhaps we've managed to keep negotiations under wraps so far

Luke

Agree1 Disagree1

Wenger said they have had no MORE bids for Van Persie.

DarrenUtd

Miguel delaney is a journo with the Irish Examiner, Independent on his twitter which which i think syd may be referring to he says "Ferguson wants all three. Whether the board ultimately go through with that is another matter."

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely any real United fan can see that we are weak in the middle! Teams run right through untouched as nobody can either keep up, or willing to get stuck in. Get a defenseive mid and then force the opposition outside.

melwing28

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah our midfield is so weak we only managed the same amount of points as the winners! All the people on here questioning Fergie need to realise he maybe knows a bit more than them!

Ed, what is your opinion on the Lucas Moura situation? Is the deal dead? Do you think he will come or not?

Thanks, great site. {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Lucas Moura has said he will make a desision on his future after the Olympics.

Mr

Believable22 Unbelievable9

I may be well of base here, but if i was in fergies seat i would get the deal done on the quiet and not announce it until the lad has finished playing in the Olympics, he's under enough pressure being in the olympic squad for a 19 yr old, and signing for the biggest club in the world would have the press badgering him throughout the rest of the tournament..........just saying, a deal may already be done.........or not!!
Mitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe so Mitch, but the other angle is that the club have said they dont want to sell him .....or are they hoping that his performances in the Olympics might increase his worth! Did not play for Egypt so he is not regarded as a first team player, but a squad player.... so is he worth £30m plus?
Eric the Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Sao Paulo director Adalberto Baptista make your mind up please.... dont waste our time. He is for sale. We want £30m, we want £40m, He wants to join Utd, he is happy to stay, he is not for sale, the deal can re-open after the Olympics, he is not for sale. Go on Brazillian TV and say what u want.....

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think he played for Egypt, but would have come off the subs bench to play against them..... Great to see Rafael score.... Go Rafa Go

Agree0 Disagree0

And Phil Jones isnt a first team player for his country either. Not seen enough of Lucas to really know about him and how much he is worth, but being on the bench at 19 in a Brazilian side including Ganso, Oscar, Neymar, Hulk and the likes isnt that bad. How many full England internationals would get in that side attacking wise let alone youngsters!
Invisible STuey

He'll be a united player n i agree with mitch, could already be done.

The Moura deal is dead! Ferguson will now turn his attention to finalising a deal with Arsenal for RVP for a fee thought to be in the region of £20m.

Expect the interest to intensify surrounding Victor Wanyama with an immenent bid to be made of around £8m

jessop1982 {Ed004's Note - Would love it if Fergie used the Moura money to sign Gotze but I don't think it is realistic}

Believable11 Unbelievable18

Not even after RVP.Too much money for an injury plagued player of that age, albeit a top class one.Derisory offer was made and obviously rejected either as a smokescreen to sign someone else or to try and appease us lot before the usual excuses come out,no value etc etc blah blah blah

Agree0 Disagree0

Unlike Lucas I have seen enough of Gotze to thoroughly agree with the Ed, he really is worth the risk of £30m in my opinion. Fergie seems an admirer but he doesnt even seem available at that price. He is there golden boy and they are financially secure. I think until he wants to leave himself he is going nowhere. Remember another Ed mentioning Wanyama is he any good at all? (as pretty sure it was the Scottish Ed biased of coruse ;))

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember one Ed saying he could surpass Pogba. as good as he may become i just dont like the fact he will be away every January for the African Cup of Nations. Fork out a bit more and go for M'villa.

Reports in Spain saying that sahin is being loaned to a big premier league club, most likely either arsenal or spurs.

If this is true I think that we wouldve missed out in a quality signing. I would rather sign him than Lucas moura because of his link up play and chemistry with Kagawa

Philiphs93

Believable8 Unbelievable11

Wish it was utd

Agree0 Disagree0

Will not be Arsenal, Wenger's already stated he thinks his midfield is strong enough and that he will wait on Diaby and Wilshere, he feels that you can over buy in a position and it can be counter-productive.

Red Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

Explain how Sahin's Link-up play and Chemistry with Kagawa will be great?? Kagawa is a AM and Sahin is a terrible DM... Played 4 games for Real and got injured... Thanks but no thanks I dont want another hargreaves!!
- Newton Heath 1878

Agree0 Disagree1

Terrible DM?? mate have you even seen him play? would never declare him an defensive midfielder, more akin to a cesc fabregas or maybe Pirlo (although that description is thrown about too often since the Euros). he's a playmaker, likes to control the game in infront of a midfield inforcer (at bvb his midfield partner was Sven Bender) he's not necessarily a tackler, but good at nicking the ball and reads the game well (a la pirlo).
he's had one unlucky season with injury, and he made 10 appearances in all comps, plus 5 international matches. Any comparison to Hargreaves is quite silly to be honest

KmD

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like it may be ARSENAL...

seriously what are we doing... Anderson & Cleverly when fit are good enough but even then we lack a defensive mid fielder... we need more in there than these 2 and carrick, scholes...

really hope we have someone lined up that is playing in the olympics and this is why we have heard nothing....

Agree0 Disagree1

I think a loan deal is ideal for whoever takes him as he WAS a quality player, however we dotn know what he is like condition wise or mentally. Personalyl I like the player a lot, but I would like to see him playing at a club for a year or so before moving for him which makes a loan move ideal. Id guess at SPurs
Invisible Stuey

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree. Yet again, it seems like we're not going to buy the CM we are crying out for......last season, the excuse was Paul Pogba.

No more Pogba.
Fletcher surely won't be returning.
Anderson still a complete non-event for the most part.
Cleverly can't be relied upon to be fit and on-form for an entire season, he doesn't have the experience.
Scholes and Giggs approaching 40.

What the **** is our manager thinking? Or are his hands firmly tied?

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger has just come out and said it's not Arsenal when asked, must be Spurs and part of Modric going to Madrid.

7 million for Victor Wanyama would be an absolute bargain. The lad is a United fan aswell, and would strengthen the midfield!

Believable29 Unbelievable11

Who???? Never heard of him.....
HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

Kenyan midfielder who currently plays for Celtic. He could play as a centre back , defensive midfielder or a central midfielder. You could compare him to Javi Martinez, but he would be a lot cheaper for us to buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very solid player, physical, good tackler and decent on the ball, can be abit exuberant ant times but he's young and would learn to tone this down with experience, fergie's wisdom/teaching, etc

watched him play several times, he's a good player, one who'd benefit from the step up from the SPL, and thats coming from a rangers fan!

more than worth a punt at that price!

KmD

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes suppost to be a similar player to m'villa but slightly better!

Agree0 Disagree0

He certainly won't come with the "baggage" that seems to be associated with m'vila, would probs cost half as much too

KmD

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know he is a united fan? seems like every player united are linked with someone comes on here and says he's a united fan!

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he stated it in an interview, and said he held Paul Scholes as his role-model. Do you want the youtube-link? {Ed007's Note - Yes mate. I'm not being funny either, I would like to have a look at that, he hasn't done many interviews since he has been at CFC, cheers.}

Agree0 Disagree0

"I have liked United all my life, and Paul Scholes", interpret it as you want lad, i believe he is saying that he has supported United his whole life. 4:05.

He must have said it then seen as you just typed it

Could it be possible that united are looking at gaston Ramirez as his agent is in England to negotiate with a premier league club.... Could be one behind the scenes ?Dwright

Believable4 Unbelievable13

I'd like to think so as the lad is quality, but i.sadly doubt it.

Sky Sports Transfer Centre claims that the agent of Lucas Moura has been instructed to keep "negotiating" with Manchester United while he is playing for the Brazilian national team in the Olympics.

But, Moura has said if a deal can't be sorted, he is happy to stay with Sao Paulo.
