Putting aside who played well, ok, badly, I wa is pressed with the system last night. Midfielder in front of the back four, 2 in the middle making forward runs, 4th playing advanced linking with the strikers. Imagine Rafael and Buttner at full backs, with RVP up front and Rooney/Kagawa taking the other forward advanced midfielder role. That would stop us getting overrun in the middle, help us link midfield to the forwards, and if the l backs engines hold out, still give us width. Come on Fergie, ditch the wingers and give it a go.

I'd play Anderson and cleverly as the midfield pair. They started like a house on fire last year before they got injured. They have an attacking attitude unlike carrick and scholes. Scholes was a wonderful player but time has caught up with him. There was a time when we used to steam role teams........time to go back to that style. A tactile game has never suited any united team......we've always been better playing at a high tempo
Clevs and Ando where awesome last night!
Ando plays really well with cleverly, and its like cleverly gives him the opportunity to go on one one of his bursting runs and gets him space to take a shot or a through ball!
How bout putting Rooney in the middle for scholes. It's been mentioned before but I've always shrugged it off because he is a natural goal scorer ?!..
Usually ud think that a team should play the system they intend to and purchase players that fit the system.
If the owners are going to make a farce of replacing 38 yr old midfielders however, a change in style is possibly the only solution to regaining our former level, - aswell as restoring some of our pride as a footballing side. I think a change at least until the end of the season would be worthwhile.
AJH,
I am word for word in agreement with you. I was a 4-2-3-1 guy, but really liked how the game flowed against Newcastle. for it to work though, we really need fletch, Clev, and Ando to all stay healthy. We went downhill last year after all three went out with injuries and illness at the same time.

Best display of the year, verve, energy, good passing, solid overall, vast improvement. Anderson has lost loads of weight, looked sharp, good link play youngsters looked promising.
Still not concinced by Anderson. Still half a stone overweight and disappeared in the 2nd half. Made one good surging run in the second half. Maybe he's just not fit but I'm still not convinced he's the answer
Anderson scored an awesome goal the other night, my only worry is that for every goal he scores he does have a tendancy to balloon another 3 over the bar :)
Anderson could be a great player. He has great technical ability, great passing and very good vision.
Agree with the comments about his fitness though. He's still no more useful than scholes/carrick/giggs (all limited by the physical sides of their game,) until he gets into the fitness a premiership footballer needs to be in.
