Highly-rated Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has revealed his wish is to play for United. The alleged Arsenal target was asked for his hopes for 2013 by France Football and said: "My dream is to slide on my knees to the corner of the pitch at Old Trafford with a Manchester United shirt on my back. I play for MU, my favourite club and I'm scoring a decisive goal with a header from a corner. Yes, that'd be fine."

For the right price he would be a good signing and it looks like he already loves the club.

sign him up.

He's a very good player, and I think he is captain at Montpellier. A leader in the heart of defence, he could be a good replacement for Rio.

Good player. I think if he is available over January we should go for it. CB is highly needed right now. Our Goal Difference would be amazing if he didn't conceded so many bad goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player, but I would rather have Hummels/Ogbonna/ no one because Evans, Jones and Smalling are as good as anything else on the market except Hummels (IMO).

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

YES MU need a defender coz the way we are conceding goals at the moment is alarming and we need a outright midfielder too

Agree0 Disagree0

Mbiwa can play anywhere across the back 4.

@Ed002,
If you don't mind, I would love to hear your thoughts or insight on the financial aspect of a potential move for Cristiano. without getting into will he wont he speculation, is there a way to structure a deal that makes financial sense for us? help from sponsors maybe? sporting aspect aside is it even conceivable that we could make this happen? could we recoup the fee through merchandising? is there a way to structure his wages?

Thanks in advance for the excellent work as always.

Brendan {Ed002's Note - You are not, I assume, referring to the Billion euro "release clause" or whatever are you? Certainly if it were down to merchandising the shirt sales don't help the club. There would likely be something for the likes of Nike but it would mean overcoming deals with the likes of Adidas. The cost would be significant (fee, wages, insurance etc.) and the return off the pitch constrained by him being at the club before - taking Ronaldo back to Manchester would give less of a corporate return than it would taking him to a new club for this very reason. I suspect it would take a lot of effort and then a lot of persuading of the owners and the sponsors as well. On the pitch it could potentially have a negative impact as it would potentially be a distraction to a team that has moved on.}

Believable4 Unbelievable18

Ed would it be feasible to say that Nike could pay a chunk o the transfer fee?

Dan {Ed002's Note - They cannot take part ownership of the player if he is to play in the EPL so it would need to be a loan to Manchester United.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there a united buy back clause in the previous deal which took Ronaldo to Madrid........I'm sure we'd have a first refusal, but was a price put in.......fergie hinted as much a couple of weeks ago!

Agree1 Disagree1

The team has moved on.....!?

It hasn't improved and surely that is the aim, we have been going slowly backwards, which is being masked by our firepower going forward.

Agree0 Disagree1

Only possibility for Nike to "fund" Parton any transfer deal is making a promise (whatever from) to up the next sponsoring contract if said player is signed,
They can't give any money to United for the signing itself.
They might, of course, offer Ronaldo an incentive for signing with a "Nike club", there are many around though

Jonny8

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't thinking part ownership Ed I was thinking a contributory one off payment to make it happen due to the millions more a year they would earn from shirt sales.

Dan {Ed002's Note - Like a charitable donation?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Just had a brainwave. GM are paying 18m a season before their logo is actually on our shirts in 2014 when they will pay 60m a season. We could ask the same with Nike for this deal i.e. a contractual agreement if we sign Ronaldo then they have to pay us a fixed fee per season until the start of 2015 when the new Nike deal would take place. Say 20-30m a season on top of what they are doing at the moment taking place from 2013 - 2015.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree1

Come on chaps, let's move on. We turned him into one of the worlds best players - lets not try and go back. Remember the good times and lets find the next Ronaldo. The cost is too high and would be money better spent elsewhere.

AJH

Agree1 Disagree0

Dan, I imagine a similar deal will happen with the new Nike deal. I expect it will be agreed before 2015 and leading up to 2015 the club will get a bonus on top of what we already get (£25.1m).

Ed002 believes the next Nike deal could be a partnership as opposed to the current structure. I am sure Nike could part fund Ronaldo's wages if there was a partnership. But it would probably be paid in endorsements than a weekly salary.

Personally I think it's highly unlikely we will see Ronaldo at United again unless he still hasn't signed a deal by this time next season. With one year on his salary RM wouldn't be able to hold out for half the amount they would want for him now. But even if this happens I still think other options will entice Ronaldo more than a move to OT.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, couldn't agree more. Rodriguez, Baines, Hummels, Strootman & Lewandowski wouldn't cost less than Ronaldo.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

That 25m a year is tiny compared to what we could get now. I think we would try to get a more similar deal to the one with GM Syd with the "pre payments" again. There is a 6 month negotiating period that starts in February so we will most likely have a deal in place for the start of next season. Of course that wouldn't be active until 2015 but the deal would be in place in the same way as the GM deal is in place for 2014. That is why I am convinced something will be put in place during next summer and any move on Ronaldo would no doubt have a massive influence on the value of that deal. We are reportedly looking for around 70-80m a year as it is now, if we sign Ronaldo then surely we can expect a big increase on that.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest though AJH, I think putting Ronaldo in the team with RVP and Rooney would have a better impact than replacing current players with those you have mentioned. Besides, if Ronaldo is brought then you can scratch us needing to get Rodriguez. Also, I would much rather get Luke Shaw than Baines, he is not far off Baines' level and is only 17 years old. He could be better than Cashley by his early 20s such is his ability. Shaw is hailed as England brightest prospect by those in the FA and when you watch him play it is easy to see why. He is as good as Bale going forward yet reads the game so much better to ddefend, can't believe we haven't been linked to him.

I dont mind been linked as long as there is nothing in it
would be an awful signing, not what we need at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Experienced midfielder and proven winner. Great influence on and off the pitch.
Goal scoring box to box player.

Nah, not what Utd need at all.

quick question ED
where do u expect ronaldo to move if he decides to quit real madrid? {Ed002's Note - He is contracted to Real MAdrid - what form do you see this "quitting" taking?}

if edd 002 is about is there any truth napoli have turned down a massive bid for cavani and if so any idea who made it
jred {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean by "massive" but it is true that Napoli rejected two offers that equated to roughly 55M euros - one from Chelsea in cash and one another involving Giovinco and Matri plus a pile of cash that was offered by Juventus to no avail.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair ed 55 million euro's is pretty massive.

Not as massive as what Anzhi offered for Messi but still pretty massive. {Ed002's Note - Surely it is only what Nani is worth? Regardless, it is a lot of money to most people, including me. Perhaps there will be an offer of 63M euros for Cavani sometime soon?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, is that 63m euros an offer from Chelsea due to Falcao not being available til the summer?

Also is there anything new on Nani this January? Any new interested parties? Any offers? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - The offers mentioned about Cavani date to the summer. There is nothing else new about Nani Syd.}

Ed 002! What do u think abt us signing lampard fr an year or two owing to the fact that chelski has rejected to renew the contract!?! {Ed002's Note - It'll be expensive, but why not.}

Believable3 Unbelievable15

He would feel right at home with giggs and scholes

Puzzled

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont want fat frank!!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's quite worrying to see that anyone would consider taking Lampard on for a year or two... what exactly would you be looking to gain from it?
That's a complete backwards move, no logic at all.

melwing28

Agree1 Disagree0

He won't move to us.
Why would he want to be in the bench , when he can go to qpr and get games week-in week-out ?
Same rumors circled when Drogba, and Ballack were out of contract.

On the contrary signing Ashley Cole is very much possible.
I'd like more than Lampard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely! Lampard is washed up and finished. Just look how he played yesterday
