Just had a text from a mate who works as a tour guide at old Trafford saying javier pastors and his family were shown around the ground on a private tour. He's normally very reliable and told me about the van persie transfer before papers caught on. Watch this space.

Believable24 Unbelievable84

May is an extension of the rooney to psg rumour.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you mean javier pastore....? From psv

BowlDonBowl

Agree0 Disagree0

How could he tell you about van Persie as SAF didn't think he would come at a certain point.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is interesting. If you google javier postore, you will see reports that he is being outcasted by ancelotti at psg. AC Milan were linked with pastore, but nothing concrete arose. Perhaps a summer move is on the cards. PSG paid £32million for him..but I think United could get him for less.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we may have a young Pastore in Petrucci.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Syd, petrucci is only 18 months younger than pastore. I know he has had a lot of trouble with injuries etc, but surely by 21 even a perennially injured player would have been given a bit of senior game time if he was comparable to pastore.
I do hope he turns good, but I have my doubts

Jaxer

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope this is not true I do not rate pastore tbh he is overated if we need a cm we should look at fellani, isla, vidal or even try resigning pogba and play him regular

THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree1

Pastore has played four years more of football than Petrucci. I think Petrucci will be an excellent player in four year's time. Fingers crossed.

Exactly right syd petrucci would be a great player if he had 4 yrs experience playing at a top level!wots the point in bringing in young players to let them rot in reserves I know its not easy to break into a team at united but surely at his age a mid til lower prem club would take a punt on loan!REDWILL

Agree0 Disagree0

Re sign pogba, not going happen he's getting games at juventus. Check out what we let go on you tube type in pogba awseome goal for juventus

Agree0 Disagree0

RED, he is currently on loan at Posh, next season he must look to a EPL loan agreed.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard posh want to send him back. The lad is not performing at all.

Might become to new Luke Chadwick. I hope not I might add. It would be a shame for anyone to grow up to look like Chadwick.

Joe.a

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferguson Jr said the other day that he wants to extend his loan.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been trying to keep up with his performances. I liked the young lad when he signed. I have also read that posh fans saying he isn't good enough for a starting place in their team. Don't get me wrong I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a fantastic player.

Kurt Zouma is being tracked by Ferguson as he has lost faith that Ferdinand is going to sign a new contract, the youngster should be in England tomorrow to discuss terms with United before having a medical and being loaned back to Saint Etienne for the rest of the season.

"Wanyama will soon be joining one of the big two clubs in the world, " Nyamwya said. "It is an exciting moment for us, which means that Kenya is a powerhouse in football."
A quote from the chief of the Kenyan FA who also thinks Wanyama may move clubs before a Kenyan match against Libya next week.

Supasub

Believable32 Unbelievable16

So that has to be either us or Madrid. We are definitley one of the names.

Fresh! {Ed007's Note - It must be Utd Fresh, he is at the other biggest club in the world :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

That soon could easily mean summer..not in this window..
Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

Radio17 I think in the actual Artical the guy says before the friendly kicks off this will happen ..... Not sure how to take it but would be delighted wit that....

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling Strootman is the player the manager wants.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's fake, the guy is just an anagram of wanyama!

Sanshine

Agree1 Disagree0

Not saying this rumour is true but Sam Nyamwya really is the Kenyan football chief(google it) not just an anagram but sharp thinking tho !

Agree0 Disagree0

Nyamwya is NOT an anagram of Wanyama
You should learn to read lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I would just like to raise a point, possibly wide of the mark but the talk was that Wanyama would need a work permit to sign for us. Would that not have gone through the Kenyan FA at some point or am I wide of the mark here? That may be why the Kenyan FA chief has such information

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love it to be us...but barca or Real? Maybe...

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama is a top man. We'll miss him at Celtic if he goes but that's football. Ronaldo left Old Trafford and the walls didn't collapse!
Big Vic will be a star no matter who he plays for.

Eds, if the rumours about a Summer deal for Lewandowski are correct could this mean that the opportunity will be taken to move an increasingly ineffective Rooney on and use the surplus money to strengthen the central midfield and defence. Presumably Lewandowski would play up front with RVP, with a midfield, perhaps, of Carrick, Kagawa, Cleverley and Anderson. If so then the role of the two full backs as wing backs would, obviously, be crucial.
It's hard to see where Rooney would fit if Lewandowski arrives and if PSG are prepared to pay £60m then the move could happen.
Paulo

Believable33 Unbelievable30

Anyone who says we should sell Rooney is clearly not a real united fan. Rooney is the driving force for united in my eyes and we don't look the same team without him. How come everytime he's out for a few weeks someone posts he should be sold or whatever? Who do you think we are? Arsenal?

IHaveNoName

Agree7 Disagree2

Lewandowski is good but Rooney is much better regardless of current form. Rooney also plays deeper than Lewy so it would be Hernandez that goes if Lewy comes in. Why would we even be thinking about signing strikers now is bemusing.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree2

Poulo..
" ineffective rooney" ???
Now see how many unbelivable you get for this word..forget rest of the rumour.
Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree4

I don't think it will happen but there is logic to teh argument - I have felt recently that its either Kagawa or Rooney and that when Kagawa plays teh team seems to pay better - in particular RVP.

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't care what anyone says, I would be delighted to see us take £60 million for Rooney & £20 million for Nani. We could then spend the usual £50 million budget on Wanyama/Cabaye, Fischer & perhaps Zouma if Ferdinand retires. Then the £80 million raised could be spent on Ronaldo.

Fresh!

Agree2 Disagree3

I still think that this line up would be stronger than our current one:

____________DDG
Rafael__Smalling__Vidic__Evra
_______Carrick___Wanyama
Valencia_____Kagawa_____Ronaldo
_____________RVP

Rooney or no Rooney, I'd rather have Ronaldo, and I think that Kagawa is world class in the hole and would excel there. Hernandez and RVP are also pretty effective together so they could be a pretty good 4-4-2.

Saying that someone who has a differing view about the effectiveness of Rooney is not a real Utd fan is a really well thought out response isn't it. The reality is that Rooney came to pre season training this year in a disgraceful level of fitness. His first touch and control have been woeful at times and it's sad to see such a great player letting himself down. He's been a superb player for us but everyone, as we well know, has their price and now maybe just the time to cash in on a player who is perhaps past his best. Disagree if you like but do not say I am not a real fan because that's just not true.

Agree2 Disagree0

Try actually watching united play with rooney and then without him how anyone can say he should be sold is staggering and you clearly haven't the slightest notion of football go back to playing fifa

Agree2 Disagree1

Nice thought fresh but we could just sell Nani and Vidic which would give us approx 40m and with a 50m summer spend we could get Ronaldo and Wanyama without selling Rooney. Rooney, RVP and Carrick are indispensable.

Dan

Agree1 Disagree1

Touchy subject and I personally wouldn't want to sell Rooney. However, if Lewi came in...why would we sell Hernandez? (aka the on form striker in the world right now) when we could move Welbeck on?

Agree1 Disagree0

Rooney doesn't dramatically improve us and to be honest, has hardly had any impact on our play this season (apart from a good performance against City). You don't have to want Rooney to stay at the club to be a true fan, in fact a true fan cares more about the club than they do about one player - so on that note, pipe down mate.

With the changes that I put in my proposed line up I think that we would be a far superior team than we are now. I'd sell Rooney in a heart beat if it meant getting Ronaldo, or a whole bunch of world class talent.

There is no guarantee that Rooney will play on for another 5 plus years as he will not take good care of himself, where as a Ronaldo is more in the mould of Giggs who took care of himself. Tieing Rooney down to a long term deal could be a bad move for the club, if we could get £60 million for him in the summer then I wouldn't say no to be honest.

Fresh!

Agree1 Disagree0

Rooney is a world beater, people forget that just because he has dips in form. Two things Fergie has said not too long ago, one of them being that Wayne takes a while to get up to full match fitness and if he's out for even a couple of games it takes a while for him to get back into it. The other being that Wayne is becoming iconic to the younger players in the way Cantona was when he was in his prime.

Ancelotti, okay may not be the best manager but he said he'd take Rooney over Messi because of his work ethic and his ability to help the team out in all aspects.

People need to realise, as certain football players get older some have to change and adapt their game. Young Rooney was explosive, a great finisher. Now he's more of a supplier, great composure and more of a professional in just getting the results needed. There is no place for a player like Lewandoski in a team with RvP, maybe in a few years.

Another thing, Fresh you sound like you've been playing to much fifa :P think more realistically.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree1

Keep Rooney but...there's always a but, drop him into midfield.I've always thought Rooney is much better coming onto the ball than with his back to goal.He works hard, can tackle & has great vision...he's the ball winner we need in mf.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we look a better team when Rooney playsZ

Fresh if rio leaves we'd need an experienced defender to replace him as we'd only have an injury prone vidic and an occasionly shaky evans as experienced centrebacks. Also Zouma wouldn't get near the first team for a few years as vidic, evans, smalling and jones would all be infront of him and possibly mick keane as well. Also I can't see the point in fischer for the same reason. We have plenty of youth. Experience needed. MrE

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if anyone moves it will be Welbeck

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney for 60 mill? we should take that all day long

Andrew b

Agree0 Disagree0

If selling Rooney/Nani/Welbeck (£85million ish) + usual £50 million summer budget (£135 million in total) meant a return for Ronaldo (£70 mil) plus a strong midfielder (£25 mil), Baines (£15 mil) and Lewandowski (£20 mil) then I would do it. Rooney will burn himself out very soon I think where as Ronaldo will still be quality well into his mid 30's. That would be a quality squad for next season.

Brendan

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney will drop deeper. Kagawa played on the left at Dortmund and did very well scoring pretty much every other game. Rooney is a world beater at 10, is a perfect partner for RVP and along with kags linking up from wide then we have have an unstoppable team. I would love to sign Ronny back but we don't need to sell Rooney to do that. Vidic 20m, Nani 15m gives us 35m. With these new sponsorship deals and if we get far in the CL I would bet that more than 50m could be available on the transfer budget for the right player. It is widely believed that 60m could get Ronny so we would easily have enough left over for Wanyama as well.

Dan {Ed004's Note - I wouldn't agree with selling Vidic and not signing a replacement though. We need a leader at the back no point having the best attack in the world without a solid basis to work from. Also I'm not sure you could play all 4 of Kagawa, Rooney, Ronaldo and RVP together as Ronaldo has been playing Left side for years now and you would play him in his best position. Rooney has never been a wide player imo and Kagawa didn't look good out wide right in the diamond at the beginning of the season}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez & Welbeck don't mind being on the ebnch and accept squad rotation, who else out there would accept that? We need players like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I meant a 4231 with Ronny left, Kags right, Rooney in the centre and RVP at 9. Carrick would then partner someone in the middle like Wanyama or Clevs. Wanyama for a counterattacking team and Clevs for a possession playing team or whatever SAF thinks. If Rooney then does drop deeper into midfield like I think he should soon then it could also be a good 433. Perhaps that would be even better than the 4231 I would like to see us play 433.

Dan {Ed004's Note - I gathered what you are saying but I just do not think Kagawa would be suited to played wide right}

Agree0 Disagree0

I see your point about selling Vidic it would be a gamble but I think that we have such great defenders that it wouldn't be felt that much.

Dan {Ed004's Note - We do have great defenders but are defensive record is a lot better with Vidic...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Would anyone truly pay 60m for Rooney? Also there are a lot of complications that would come with the Ronaldo deal. It's not just about raising the required funds to purchase him.

What is our interest in Gaitan and Ezequiel for the summer? Do we have interest in other winger and a central defender?
JS

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Well, it's papers again, but here goes. I'm fairly new to the kid 'Angelo Ogbonna'. Ed, would you know much about him?

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Benfica's Ezequiel Garay and Torino's Angelo Ogbonna as potential replacements for Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, according to the Mirror.

Ferdinand and Vidic have been the bedrock of United's success in recent years but the pair aren't getting any younger and there are doubts over the long-term futures of both defenders. 34-year-old Ferdinand is yet to agree a new contract while there are increasing doubts over the long-term fitness of 31-year-old Vidic after two serious knee injuries, so the Mirror claim Ferguson is planning for life without the duo.

The report names Benfic'a Garay and Torino's Ogbonna as his two top targets with the United boss understood to have had both scouted on several occasions already this season.

Garay is a 26-year-old Argentina international centre-back who has excelled in Portugal after three unsuccessful years with Real Madrid, and the 6 foot 4 inch defender has been a major factor in Benfica's march to the top of the league this season.

Ogbonna is a 24-year-old Italian international who has spent his entire professional career at Torino and broke into the first team in 2007. However, he has really found his form over the last 18 months and has been earning rave reviews in Serie A.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think interest in Gaitan has dropped to be honest. I never rated him as highly as other targets anyway so I'm quite happy.

I think Zouma is probably the only centre back that we will go for.
