Anyone see Galatasary's 3rd goal against Liverpool today? Johan Elmander, Good goal, check it on youtube... Also just seen on ssn that arsenal lookin to tie up a deal 4 mata before the weekend, Looks a good player, i was hoping we would make a move for him, Hopefully sneijder or McCarthy coming in

A.S.H.W.I

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Are you talking about Mick McCarthy ? cos I don't reckon he come out of retirement for us, although he'd be frothing at the mouth to get a game at citeh

All this talk about replacing schools we still haven't replaced Keane sure... Apart from the few games we had Hargreaves united haven't had a great midfield that could dominate like keane and scholes did... It's not a bad midfield but just need to improve it for next years champions league final against Barcelona :)

Nothing is going to happen till the team is back from USA. All these rumours are unfounded. There might be enquiries here and there. Any enquiry means nothing. A club can make 10 or more enquiries in a season and bid for none. As it is we are holding our cards to our chest. No bids yet guys. The only thing I can say is wait till the USA tour is over and most probably after the Charity shield. Mark my words.

believe this or not but i didnt until i saw the picture on facebook. someone my mate knows was in diceys nightclub in Dublin the other night and Sneijder was there as hes over for the Dublin Super Cup. he apparently said hes definitly joining United. Interesting. My guess he was drunk and let his tongue slip YourBoySimba

Believable12 Unbelievable17

Just reports at the minute it changes every hour

I had no idea PSG were even interested in him... Does it say what the fee was for him? {Ed002's Note - The fee will be circa £40M.}

I think the reports are correct cause he isn't featured in today's game

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah it's true from what I can tell, google knows all Just google pastore signs for psg.

david gill says we are after on more signing, dear mr gill we need at least 2 more not one tell me if this makes good reading. Not including keeper.

Young
Jones
one other

To me this would be a disappointing window, your guaranteed city and chelsea will be buying better quality, just lets see how good we have done come sept 1st.

Believable8 Unbelievable26

The one thing that we tend to forget, and I include myself in this is that United's current squad is without doubt one of the best group of players in world football. It is incredibly difficult to find available players that will massively improve on out squad. That is why SAF takes potential in Smalling and Jones for example and will develop them into United quality players. And I'm going out on a limb here, but both Smalling and Jones will be world class defensive players, mark my words

Agree0 Disagree0

And who have chelsea bought so far?

And City? Some guy wenger turned down, one of the worst left backs in the league and an over rated over hyped bloke who will be gone in 2 seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster is right we r short
Need 2 but since when could gill count

Agree0 Disagree0

Im happy with the signings we have made not 2 sure about young 2bh but i trust alex de gea and jones were bargins all we need now is 2 sign 2 cm a cheap 1 with experiance and a marquee signing i reckon the cheap one should be either barton or parker and the marquee signing should be 1 of the following: hamsik, moderic, scjender, diego, schweinstiger, nasri, cambiasso
THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree0

If your not happy with our signings then tough how many trophies have you won?
I agree with the previous guy we have a very competitive squad all at a good age
Chelsea have at leat 6 players over 30 so I think one top midfielder is all we require come opn yoy reds
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone knows that one player United want is Sneijder. I do hope we get him as he is a great player. I'm sure he would fit right into our squad at the minute.

I can also see another "younger" signing aswell come August 31st.

Agree0 Disagree0

Manchester United should have 2 of the best centre mids in the world. Forget catching Barcelona, we need to stay ahead of the rest. To do that we need 2 centre mids, one holding midfielder and one with creative. You say trust in fergie but even he admitted it was our weak area. Carrick at best should be a squad player. Fletcher can be good but had a terrible season and Anderson just doesn't look after himself well enough to fill that role - plus he gets injured a lot when he has a run in the side.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2011 17:45:38
It seems to me that Inter are making the noises to encourage a United bid for Sneijder. Does this mean that Inter need money to fund a bid for, say Tevez?
This could be why United are in no rush. Perhaps United's apparant lack of urgency will encourage Inter to be more flexible on the fee. Inter will be aware that they need time to re-invest maybe, and if they want Tevez they will want to table a bid before the likes of Madrid make a move? Our reluctance to push through a deal with urgency may just be a cleaver ploy to give us a much better bargaining position. Just a thought.

what Scholes say is true, for the past few years scholes actualy didnt really do much or score much, so there's actualy no need for him to be replaced, all the big games he wasnt even being used. whats the fuzz with all this transfer rumours?

Believable13 Unbelievable21

Nonsense, Scholesy is a legend as appreciated by his peers.I lost count especially early last season of the number of passes he made when nobody in the ground saw one on apart from the ginger prince. His interview in the men is typical Scholesy playing down his contribution

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the original poster to a degree - scholes has not been pivotal in the last 2 to 3 years of Man Utd's success. As for example, Giggs HAS. However, I strongly think we need to strengthen CM with one top class player as its the one position that has let us down since scholesy stopped being the main man a couple of years ago. We would easily have been more succesful had either Keane or Scholes been replaced long term IMO. So...bring on modric or nasri (preferrably) or sneider (last choice due to enormous wage demands) before the end of the window please SAF Then we will win the league (again) and hopefully get close to the likes of Barca in Europe : )

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but we have all known for a while that we need a midfielder-at least three years because carrick, anderson and fletcher arnt the classy type of player we need in midfield. Its just now SAF has realised we need a midfielder.

28 Jul 2011 16:45:06
Seeing that we are linked with lucas from sao paulo again, didnt they slap some euromillions price tag on him though?

1redarmy {Ed002's Note - The United link was from before Christmas when a number of clubs enquired and were to $130M. One bid has been made and rejected for the player, and that was not from Manchester United. I don't expect him to leave in the short term.}

Believable7 Unbelievable4

28 Jul 2011 15:50:11
Sao Paulo have received a large bid from a top European club for Lucas in the last day or so. Reports in brazil say it is from either United or Inter.
We are also still in for modric.
I still think 2 midfielders could be bought.
Supasub

Believable6 Unbelievable19

It was inter who made the bid for him around 22 million they laughed it off they want at least 45-50 million for him at the least

If the reports are to be true that Pastore will be heading to Chelsea, then we can test Tottenhams resolve for Modric by bidding cash + Berbatov. They are in real need for strikers and so far are not successfull in market for filling that postion.

Sammy_THE RED DEVIL {Ed036's Note - Didn't he largely burn his bridges before he left for us though?}

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Plus what is wrong with everyone, he was our top scorer last season why are we getting rid of him

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Also spur Will NOT let Modric to leave this season

PB MUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want berba to leave. The thing is is berba not performing to the best of his ability even tho he miss some sitters because of the quality of service he's getting. Should our midfield improve then we should see a better striker in him. We can argue that how can little pea do so well? Imo he runs more and he also gets himself into areas. Then I would say berba is of a bigger frame less agile, not so quick therefore dont get into positions as fast as chica wud. Look at his past with spurs, he was able to perform because of the support he had from his midfielders. Hope he stays, pay 10 mil + gibson an diouf for modric and lure in nasri for 22 mil. diego

Agree0 Disagree0

I dunno about that, the one on ones he misses is solely down to his ability. I just think when everyone believed in him he began to look like the player we bought from Spurs. Hernandez just kept scoring and everyone hopped off the Berba bandwagon.

Diouf, gibson and 10m for Modric? I don't mean to sound condesending but come on man get real, spurs are trying to go forward

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Fa cup city when he missed that open net, all his goals have been easy apart from the overhead, to inconsistant imagine if hernandes had dplayed all 38 games, how many goals he would have got

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha..... I know right? In reality they are but i'm only concerned about MU. After my post I thought it was a bit harsh, 15mil + gibson and diouf. diego

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha mate, if they went for it though, id come and shine your shoes and say sorry along with being over the moon

I'd see them asking for straight cash as I'm sure they've got their own targets.

28 Jul 2011 15:01:02
Hey all, just heard on grapevine that Daniel Levy has confirmed with his management/ director team that if united bid 35 for Modric we can have him as long as its done in next 7 days, Apaarently and Im not pretending to be on the payroll he will only sell him to Chelsea for 45 minimum and even then he wont let him go till the end of the window to cheese them both off. Allthough you probably know all this from the press its possibly good news. However personally i thought all the mercenaries go to Sh*tty. So not sure im pleased about it as hes not strong enough on the ball for my liking.

SHARPY SHUFFLE

Believable6 Unbelievable17

Well hold on a minute, for what reason would they sell modric to us for 10 million cheaper than chelsea? did you not think that was a little odd considering loosing out on 10 mil isn't exactly 'good' business..

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi there, in fairness it was not a case of thinking what I was told. It was knowing So I thank you for your comments however. Mod is determined to leave and yes they want as much money as possible however its the same old take Chelski for as stupid amount but they dont want to do business with them for may reasons. Hes spelt that out quite clearly recently my young friend .

Why are you calling him your 'young friend' like your a boss or something? Pipe down pal.

28 Jul 2011 14:35:34
we are in need of someone like nasri but we should sign de rossi as well for 15 mill, making our total outlay for the 2 players equal to the monies we would spend on sneijder. What do you think Ed?

Believable10 Unbelievable8

28 Jul 2011 14:00:33
Macheda just posted on twitter that Chicharito is okay so it looks like he won't be out for 3 weeks good news

Believable17 Unbelievable4

28 Jul 2011 13:59:44
Ed, in your opinion will we be signing either of Modric or Sneijder? {Ed007's Note - Yes.}

Believable17 Unbelievable6

What has sparked all the Modric rumours again. I would love him at United but is there anything to it? The only player I would have over Modric is Mesut Ozil.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2011 13:36:52
I think its getting a little obvious that Utd have a big interest in Luka Modric. Rio, Smalling, Scholes have all mentionted in recent interviews about how they rate him. I think they've been instructed to do so, to get a reaction from Modric about a potential move to Utd.

Hobbes

Believable26 Unbelievable6

Firstly, I can't understand why he spoke like he did lately about going to Chelsea - why not just say he wanted to go to a bigger club which wouldn't have committed him to anyone specific. And secondly, why have all the papers dropped their speculation about the move when they all seemed positive it was going to happen? Strange - maybe your right.

J Bones

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think united go for a player who prefers to play for the other places end of

28 Jul 2011 12:32:19
I agree Paul Scholes doesn't need replacing now but he did and still does from 4 years ago when he first declined.

I'm curious as to why Utd haven't gone for the two Saints kids who I think would do a job Adam Lallana & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (who we have been linked with) but I think both these players who would cost a lot less then 35 mill and could easily develop into proper playmakers Lallana in perticular has shown a lot of promenence in the centre of midfield last term.

Diego would be brilliant as well tho but I think thats as much up in the air as Wesley Sneijder transfer.

What do you guys think?

Does anyone else think that Welbeck was very sharp last night? I think he could be big in the future.

Believable29 Unbelievable6

I do think wellbeck has a big future if he keeps progressing the way he has but i don't think last night is a good yardstick. He was given a HELL of a lot of space as the mls had lost their shape and were being exposed quite readily by by this time. Hopefully he gets his chance this season as i think he deserves it'

Rosco

Agree0 Disagree0

I haven't watched many matches in which he's featured, there's just something about him that makes him (for me) a better option than Macheda. If the up and coming midfielders show the same quality, I think we could have another "golden generation" on our hands.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think welbeck is the most promising back up stiker we have apart from berbatov, he is playing better atm than diouf, macheda and owen.. he looks much more composed and confident which i think has changed since he played for england in the under 21's. glad he will be available for first team duties in the coming season....

Paul Scholes Quotes today. Exactly what I said yesterday. We DESPERATELY need central midfielders but not necessarilY to replace Scholes: -

"I don't think it is a big deal really replacing me because I haven't been the type of player people are talking about for the last four or five years, " Scholes told the Manchester Evening News.

"I haven't been scoring goals or been the main playmaker in the team for a while. I don't think I actually need replacing in that way at all.

"I wasn't the pulling the strings anymore, definitely in the last two years and probably even since I was 31-32. I haven't been as prominent in the side. I wasn't scoring the goals and I wasn't making the goals.

"I think people are obsessed with having to replace me. If you look at the facts over the last couple of years. I haven't played in the big games. So I don't think there is that much that needs replacing"
WOFFSTA

Believable12 Unbelievable2

I must say I think this post is exactly right but we do need a Paul Scholes type player of 5 years ago

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should sign scott parker as cover for fletcher and he would be a great squad player for around £10 million. We have Anderson, who if he can stay fit is a bloody good attacking player and in my eyes is highly underrated. Fletcher and Anderson in the middle is a very underrated partnership, although I admit I wouldn't mind is Pastore or Sneijder came in...

Agree0 Disagree0

I said this weeks ago and now the man himself has confirmed it. He has not been an instrumental part in our first XI for years. I also agree with him that Modric is the man to come in. Come on SAF & Harry, work out a dodgy deal between yous.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with this statement. i have been saying this to anyone who will listen for a while now. Although i do think we need at least one more player.

Don't think Parker is that man as some people are posting but i do think sneijder would be excellent. I think if we are to give barca (and other teams who have strengthened) a run for their money we need someone who is world class NOW and also brings a strength and leadership to the team which very few could.

Would love schweinsteiger and sneijder but obviousley won't happen, it's not fantasy football after all :)

Rosco

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have De Rossi myself to add some steel and hope Anderson keeps improving (fingers corssed). I would like to see some of the youth players being pushed through but knowing the way Fergie slowly pushes the youth through it could be 3 seasons before we see the likes of Pogba playing regularly. TBH I would not say no to Sneijder, Modric or Parker though.

Eds. Is Ravel Morrison injured? He played in the first pre-season game for the reserves but hasn't played since.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

I suspect you're right Ed. That confirms what I've heard What's this guys problem. Talented footballer but........
The Word {Ed007's Note - It does seem a waste from the way guys like Sydney etc talk about his ability. Hopefully he can get sorted out and concentrate on football and learn to appreciate the chance he has been given.}

Agree0 Disagree0

As you say Ed, I heard from the newspapers earlier this week he was indeed having some personal problems, can't remember the details but I believe he may have a court case coming up...

Syd, you normally have a better idea then most, can you enlighten us?

RedDub

Agree0 Disagree0

There's no court case coming up, he went to the Police station, he wasn't charged and no further action is to be taken. Not sure if the club have punished him themselves though?

Palermo playmaker Javier Pastore is just hours away from being sold, according to club president Maurizio Zamparini.

Ed002, who do u think will sign him Chelsea or Inter.?

DC_9 {Ed002's Note - It'll be Chelsea or PSG - not Inter.}

Believable18 Unbelievable1

Fingers crossed its PSG. If he does well there it doesnt affect us and then perhaps we could approach to sign him in a couple of years. I'd hate to see him go to Chelsea as they would then have a real player on their hands. Im sure Ed002 is delighted.

Inter Milan chief executive Ernesto Paolillo suggests the club could be ready to sell midfielder Wesley Sneijder, but says Manchester United have not made any contact regarding the player. "Is Wesley definitely not for sale? I don't think there's anything that can't be sold, it all depends on the price. You never say no if a big opportunity comes your way, but it does have to be a real opportunity, " Paolillo told Sky Sport Italia.
