Efforts have started to finalise the Baines move this week with a press conference thursday/friday as the unveil. The hope was to get Fabregas done by now at least in principal and at the club also by thursday but it doesn't look like that is happening. This has come from EFC not MUFC connections. They know of the Fabregas delay only because Moyes wants to be done with all the transfers at the same time and do a single a press conference.

Makes sense. One press conference would save a lot of money and time.
Agree0

What a no brainer comment. united can afford asia tours but not 2 or 3 conferences required to unvail players. or may be david moyes want to prove how he can save cost in every little way. spot on mate

Hard to believe this when Baines has just flown to the U. S with Everton. Surely he would of stayed here?.
Agree1

Go on you tube and put baines gives Everton fans a lift to Ewood. When asked about united, the hand gesture said it all. Welcome to old Trafford lad.

I think Baines and Fellaini should both arrive at OT soon, whether Fabrigas does, or doesn't come

People seem to be forgetting the the other teams have to agree a price. Signings would be easy otherwise wouldn't they lol.
Dan

Lol because officials from United would divulge that sort of information to Everton about what other transfer targets were after and when we should be completing deals. Some people jeez

Yeah lad, hand gesture says it all. Dear me.

United's last bid (which was rejected) was about £12m. I'd be surprised if United went higher, players 28-29 with no resale value, United generally don't over pay for Older players (the exception of course was Berbatov but that was because of late interest from Chelsea and Man City pushing the price up)
OT Ghost

Pretty sure we payed over the odds for RVP last year and that worked out well.
Agree0

OT Ghost, was RVP another exception then?

The fan asked Baines if he was going to United and Baines kind of went "pffft I don't know" whilst raising his hand, it was definitely not the usual footballer reply. Don't think he knew he was being filmed.
Agree0

£24m for the best striker in the Premier League is not over paying, £37m for Andy Carroll is lol
OT Ghost

Watched the youtube vid of Baines, couldn't understand a bleeding word, lol!
Agree3

£24m for a player under 30 years of age who won the golden boot the season before is hardly over paying, i'd say it's reasonable.
Ozwald
Agree0
Disagree0
OT Ghost, It was thought to be overpayed due to the player's age and the club's policy of not buying older player for that price.
Not only that but at the age of 28 van Persie just had his best year and first injury free season, so it was a big risk.
Luckily enough, van Persie kept his scoring goals pace and also kept his health, which was surprisinly good.
Of course he more than paid his price tag, but let's not forget that while we can spend 30 million pounds on a player, we actually have a "limited warchest" if we compare United with the likes of (oil rich) Chelsea and Man City.
Agree0
Disagree1
RVP is not as injury prone as some seem to think. He's had injuries yes but some seem to think he's been out injuries half his career which is very wrong. He had two seasons at Arsenal in which he was injured a lot the other 5/6 seasons he played most of their Premier league games. A player that can score you 25+ goals a season and still has 4-5 more years in them at the top is worth £24m easily. Tottenham are about to buy a 29-30 year old Soldado for £30m and RVP is of a higher class and Premier League proven. Just my opinion though your entitled to yours
OT Ghost

Yeah, of course Everton know about our transfer dealings, give your head a wobble lad

Ozwald, its overpaying when he has a history of injury problems and only 1 year left on his contract.

Anyone know what is happening with Davide Petrucci, 22 years of age and no where near breaking in to the first team?
Believable24
Unbelievable8
He was injured for a large part of the season. Forget his age. He has missed over two years with serious injury. Think of him as a 19/20 year old.

Promising player but his development has been highly impacted by a number of injuries. Last season he went on loan for the 1st time I believe (at a relatively old age) and what happened, you guessed it, he got injured.
I really feel for the lad, hope he can stay fit in the future but I think his chances of breaking into our team may be very low now just due to the above.
Agree0
Disagree0
It's hard to see a future for him with Powell and Januzaj here. I think he'll go on loan to Italy or be sold there before the end of the window.
Dan

Potential championship player at best, not progressed as expected due to injuries as already been stated.
Raffa {Ed007's Note - Plus Syd has fiddled his birth certificate by the sound of things. I wonder what age Syd thinks Owen Hargreaves actually is with the injuries he had, he must have left Man City to finish his GCSEs!!}
Agree1
Disagree0
007, from 17-19 Petrucci's development was put on hold. You cannot progress when you are not playing football.
Sydney! {Ed007's Note - You still can't knock a couple of years off his age because of it. Come on Syd, it doesn't work like that. Does that mean he can have two 21st birthday parties?}
Agree1
Disagree0
Too many injuries have not helped
Agree0
Disagree0
I haven't literally knocked two years off of his age. If I had that power I would knock 15 years off of Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Irwin and ten years off Rooney's age ;)
I meant in terms of development, he is more like a 19/20 year old than a 21/22 year old because he has missed two years of development and has been playing catch up.
Sydney!

Agree0

Players develop rapidly when the are teenagers. after about 21 its much more mental development. if you miss years thru injury then you miss the years, its as simple as that. he will do well to make it at utd from here

J-stand, Powell had surgery a few month's ago and is recovering from it.

Fabregas reports for training tomorrow and it's reported he's likely to hold a press conference. If so it can only be to say that he's staying at Barca.

He has to come out and say that. When we stop bidding we then know the trail has gone cold. What people say makes no difference.

Don't know how credible IBN and also few other site are. But its been reported Cesc has agreed to joined United after a secret meeting between Cesc's agent Darren Dein and Ed Woodward.
The report also revealed Cesc wants to return to EPL and is more keen to join United than Arsenal.
May be just a rumour but thought I will pass it on since United has been quite persistent in persuing this player particularly.
Fingers crossed.

The express a rag I wouldn't wipe mine with as I might get my ring dirty, don't believe a word of it, also the club under moyes is about to get a shock.
he is not going to cut it, the self proclaimed biggest club in the world go looking for a manager and end up with a man who has no pedigree, trophy's or shown any ability to buy or manage big ego's.
if being Scottish and a little angry looking makes you a good manager then your going to be fine but if you require ability your screwed.
I look forward to watching the crumbling of an era.

Big mistake replacing the manager and chief exec at the same time. Should have asked Gill to stay on one more year for a staggered transition.
United need to put down a marker and sign someone big. It would be a show of intent to the rest of the league, their peers in Europe and most of all the other players. Look at Munich's midfield and ask yourself honestly can we match that? The truth is no.
United will challenge for the league but we're 2-3 players off winning the CL and when you talk about being biggest club in the world that's not good enough.

Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas is on his way to Old Trafford, with Sunday Express Sport reporting that the midfielder has agreed to join Manchester United after a secret meeting between his agent Darren Dein and United's chief executive Ed Woodward.
"Woodward came home early from his club's extensive Far East tour to try and facilitate the incoming Old Trafford record deal. That, we can disclose, included a meeting with the respected Dein, who also helped swing United's £24 million capture of Robin van Persie last summer, " the report said.
