i don't get why people keep thinking rio would go to china. Yeah ok quarter of a mill a week. But rio already earns loads. Has interests outside of football and a young family. I don't see him going to china. Wouldn't appeal to him. I could see him go america but not china.

Edd and you guys are see you are all convinced that Ferdinand will stay on,may ask (1)Do you think SAF will reject that good offer from the Chinese club for Ferdy,a gud and rare offer? (2) Do you think Ferdy will take a massive £50000 pay cut to stay at United and turn down a £250k tax free per week from China?

Believable3 Unbelievable9

It would be very hard to turn an offer like that down when you are at the end of your career.very big money.i think he might take it to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not all about money - he is a millionaire several times over already. Think outside of football - is he willing to uproot his children, take then out of their schools, bring them to a country where they dont speak the language, leave behind his family network, leave his other business interests to someone else etc. I cant see him leaving for China....USA maybe at the end of 2013.

IrishRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Rio's always been known to wear his heart on his sleeve, he's the kind of player that cares more about the badge than the money. One of our most important players, on and off the pitch! Doubt he's going anywhere.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

It's called loyalty fergie showed him loyalty during his drug ban and countless injury spells and i feel ferdinand could repay that loyalty by staying on

what does the ed think about younes belhanda montpellier creative tricky etione capoeu toulouse dm and can also play at cb and bas dost heerenveen top scorer in holland 6ft 5 could combine well with valencia and the 3 could be more attainable than the hazards modrics gaitans etc

cjwales82

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Apparently Etien Didot of Toulouse is on a free at the end of the year, he is decent aswell!

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Never trust the top scorer in Holland to recreate that form anywhere else, especially England, (Mateja Kezman to name but 1)

after some find outs and talks around staffs.. here are the final transfer targets.. which SAF is hoping to lure in june only..except 1. but he is prepared this time to go extra mile for it..
so lets see
GK : none.. whatever names u hear r made up story. DDG is nd will stay as No 1.

RB: clyne is nearly done( free- 3m). wil get regular spot if rafael cant stay fit for any long now. but rafa is 1st choice in SAF eyes.he rates him high.
CB: none.. all story . ferdinand wil be kept for another season atleast. SAF is surprised with Evans raise to the occasion. so he thinks we r ok there. vida, evans, jones, smallings.
LB: surprise here, evra wants to go back to france. nd wil be allowed to also.SAF has watched aly sissokho( 9m-12m). wil go for him. with fabio nd zeki as back up.
WINGS : NONE.. SAF thinks we r ok there.
CM : higly talked from last 2 seasons. martinez ( 25m) and axel witsel( 12m) are sort listed.one will join.( price war is deciding factor here) javi garcia are fake stories.
ST/AM/CAM : eden hazard( 22m) has been persueded to join. berba is making the way. SAF feels rooney alone is not enough in every game.spcly europe.

future signings:lucas has already signed and kovakic is most likely to join as well, only reason why SAF has let morrison leave. as he is getting trouble free lad with same potential.

RODIO17

Believable21 Unbelievable13

Rubbish, we will not sign Witsel and Martinez. Evra in all likelihood will probably not be sold unfortunatly.

I think the best summer we can hope for is:

Clyne
Cissokho (think Evra's going to stay)
Martinez
Hazard

That would be the dream, but players like Witsel, Gaitan, Izaguirre etc are SAF's back up options which hopefully he won't need.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

He said one of Witsel or Martinez.

I'd expect Clyne, Cissoko, Witsel, Hazard, Young striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just got goose bump after reading it. I think Welbeck will get that sharpness soon. And Hernandez would be perfec Super sub. With Martinez(fingers cross) fletcher, Carrick, Cleverly, Ando and Pogba in midfield(Tunnicliffe needs little bit of boost!). United looks goods. With future midfield maestro growing up nicely! I am finally looking forward to Man utd Midfield option. Personaly i would opt Goetze rather then hazard.

Agree0 Disagree0

So whos the one player who wont be joining on june who SAF is prepared to go the extra mile for? ...gotze next summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

When did Lucas sign? And which Lucas? (I know it's not the scouse one)

Agree0 Disagree0

Best we can hope for is clyne? Reddevil19 are you his agent ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Clyne
cissokho
martinez
hazard

if this is true this would be a fantastic summer... you say Lucas has already signed, which lucas would this be ???

Oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure the credentials of ur sources RODIO17, but regardless, I would go for all of that - sign me up!

DodgyBanter

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd imagin he means Lucas Evangelista the 17yo brazilain who signed tye other day.

Shappy {Ed007's Note - Aw FFS!!!! Not again? Who?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Too many Lucas's for your liking Bond? ;)

G.A.G.U.S {Ed007's Note - The thread the other day pickled my mind GAGUS lol.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The other day bond mate we had three young brazilian lads from deportivo come over for a trial of sorts it resulted in us signing this Lucas who's a midfielder who can play as either an AM or DM. The other two(Agiular and another name that escapes me atm) went back to brazil but we are supposedly keeping an eye on them. Hope that clears things up abit mate. Lol

Shappy {Ed007's Note - Are you sure that's where he plays??? ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Desportivo. Lol. I missed the s, in fairness it is late. Lol. The other lad is Bruno Gomes. But thats it from me, i'm off for some shut eye. Night guys.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Arrr so its the lucas that plays in either dm/am. rb/lb, cb/cm or up front..

got it now...

thanks

oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

Ya my ideal summer signings would be clyne, cissokho, martinez and hazard.i think we could go a long way with those players.

Not banter or a rumour but does anyone know whats wrong with Nani ?. Is he injured or has Fergie fallen out with him ? only asking because against Fulham on Monday we were crying out for a bit of magic or trickery on the left-still not overly convinced with Young, & Welbeck is not a winger,Giggs is not a centre midfielder, come on SAF if you put square pegs in round holes you get performances like Mondays. MIDDLETON RED.

Believable10 Unbelievable10

Nani is training now and could return for Monday.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani has been injured and agree that he may have made a difference on Monday
however I was at the game on Monday and persoanlly thought Young was one of our better performers on the night
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you will find Nani has returned to training and Fergie woin't want to risk him getting injured by rushing him bck into 1st team. Agree about Young as he always cuts in on his right foot to cross nearly every time and becomes predictable.

Mad Hatter

Nathaniel Clyne is pretty much a United player. Great potential may take a season to settle in but the lads going to be the future England RB if he keeps progressing the way he has been. No longer will we have to rely on the twins being fit or Jones and Smalling playing out of position not to mention our best winger having to play RB (Valencia is case 'our best winger' wasn't clear enough) :-)

United Till I Die 1987

Believable20 Unbelievable3

Im quite keen on Rafa being our first choice RB. I think he can only get better and better with more involvement. The two of them are very driven players, who want to represent Brazil. I suppose a bit of competition will be good. Have you any idea what price is being touted for Clyne?

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

Fingers crossed!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Gar, Clyne will actually be out of contract in the summer, but being 20 years old i believe we'd have to pay training compensation fees. Someone brought up a figure of about £2.5m which is way to much. I'd imagine about £500k to £1m ish?

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Clyne's contract is up in summer, so will be available on a free, however United will need to compensate Palace for his training and development, prob around the 1.5 - 2.0 million mark.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cool, I wasn't aware of that! That's a steal then! Cheers guys!

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see how training compensation could be £2m.. I mean in the January transfer window, the price quoted for Clyne was about £3-5m in terms of a transfer fee. But yeah fully agree 'Gar' it would be a steal! ;)

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea were ordered to pay £3.5m upfront for Sturridge, a further £500k for every 10 senior appearance up to 40 and a further £1m if he gets a England cap. So Sturridge ended costing Chelsea £3.5m-£6.5m. City are entitled to 15% of any sell on fee too.

He was only at City's youth for three years so I am not sure were they got their valuations from? Maybe Ed002 could shed a little light on this? But I imagine Clyne would cost around £2m, perhaps less.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair I hope this is true but just to be awkward I disagree with the future england right back, with kyle walker only being 21/22 I would say he will be the england) for many years to come.

Anyone or Eds know who is tracking Wilfred Zaha?

Whats everyones opinion on him?

I rate him highly, Very consistant, very high work rate. Plays for his badge and always a threat.

Cban

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Not good enough for us, maybe villa

Agree0 Disagree0

Plays for his badge? Least we know he's putting on the right shirt before he walks out onto the pitch then..

I do rate him as a good prospect! Would be an ideal signing following the departure of Berbatov. People keep throwing names about such as Llorente and Cavani but with Rooney a definite starter, and Welbeck and Chicharito both wanting more playing time, we will not buy in a top quality striker. Maybe someone who can play upfront behind Rooney (Hazard for example or if a left winger is to be brought in, then Young could play behind Rooney).
Zaha, a young british talent with a good understanding of the game and a strong physique. It's possible for sure..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

He is very inconsistent mate, that is why many top clubs are not convinced by him. I see someone like Bolton (if they stay up), Fulham or Villa going for him.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - every team in the Prem has looked at him, the general consensus seems to be he has no end product. It will be someone taking a chance that will go for him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001 - I like his swagger and his confidence on the ball, but he is too wasteful in the final third and it would be like having another Nani except from 10-15 goals and 15 assists every season

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - When you say you like his "swagger" - is that like saying you think he has a cute ass Syd?}

Agree0 Disagree0

You've got it Ed ;) On a serious note it's his movement and his speed on the ball which I like. I guess that's what I meant by his swagger.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Technically hes nowhere good enough for the premiership never mind united

I really don't get it. Why people are this obsessed by Gaitan?

I don't think he is the right player or the world class player we're looking for. Gaitan is just an average player. And he may find really difficult to adapt in England, like Veron, Forlan,... So rather to pay more to players like Bale, Modric, Hazard, Martinez than experiment how would it be with Gaitan!

Believable21 Unbelievable3

Your right but if he was bought alongside other players that are awesome like Hazard etc....I would be happy. Its clear that Gaitan has the potential to become something great with us just like valencia did. But Hazard, Modric etc are already better players than him

lewis.no.9

Agree0 Disagree0

Every player you buy is a gamble, you want to spend 60m on Bale and Modric but how do you rate the last two players we paid alot of money for from Spurs? Buying the big name players doesn't garrentee that they'll work out. You just need to trust the scouting team have done their jobs properly.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Average players don't top the CL assists table for the season....more accurate is Gaitan is far less exciting an acquisition to fans because we know less about him than the other options, haven't romanticised his abilities, and the whole of Europe isn't falling all over themselves to sign him to the same degree as some of the others you mention

Forilla

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the first post, gaiten is a good player no more. Also at 23/24 i dont see him improving into a world class player. When u watch some of these young players u Can just tell if they Are going to be world class ie gotze, hazard. I'm gutted gotze just signed a new contract, as I really think he would've been an excellent signing.Dortmund have signed reus so where will the Dortmund coach fit kagawa, gotze. Maybe one of them is available.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Forilla'

Then how come he is being touted accross Europe with a price tag over £25m?
Answer: Unnecessary hype

'lewis'

Hazard has a lot of potential but his attitude lets him down, Fergie could mould him into that as he did with Rooney. but Gaitan is no better than what we already have and in left sided options in Nani, Young

The only player mentioned which could easily step up into our starting line up is Martinez and maybe Modric. Martinez has that bit of extra steel and class needed that we are lacking in the center of the park. It may be unlikely that we get him, so as Shappy says, trust the scouts

=v1=

=v1=

Agree0 Disagree0

My friend, if you saw the match Benfica vs Chelsea yesterday, you would have seen that Gaitan is a fantastic player, he was penetrating the left flank all the time and he has a great stamina, defending , not afraid to beat this man.If Benfica would have been more cliniclal in front of goal, they would have easily won the match.

Agree0 Disagree0

The more and more I think about it the more I don't want us to get Gaitan everytime I've watched him I haven't been impressed. Javi Garcia is very good and has impressed me I hope we're going for Garcia and not Gaitan, time will tell I suppose.

United Till I Die 1987 {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Arsenal, AC Milan and Bayern Munich have certainly been looking at Javi Garcia but I suspected there may well be a push from Manchester City to take Garcia as a replacement for Nigel De Jong. However, Garcia has signed a new contract at Benfica making a move less likely and I suspect Manchester City turning their attentions to Martinez.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Shappy, you trying to say Carrick hasn't been a success at MUFC? :|

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

No i'm not, I feel he's been a good player for us but alot of people don't rate him for some reason. All i'm saying is we've given Spurs 47m for two players do you feel like we've got value for money? Both Carrick and Berbatov looked better players at Spurs then they have done for us, so maybe Modric and Bale wouldn't look quite as good with us as they do with Spurs.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

First time poster...i feel that Carricks form and play all depends on him babysitting the older players who play that cm role. When we were at Loftus Road, he was really good. At Bilbao..really..park n giggs infront of him doesn't seem forgiving..lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan,Witsel & Garcia all look average to me, which is fair enough if we were to pick up any of them as squad players for an average price, however this would not be the case as Benfica would demand top dollar.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why add more average players to an average squad. The premier league as a whole is declining and united are the best of a bad bunch. This summer is Crucial that fergie gets it right. If he wants to play the high tempo like Bilbao and barca then buying gaiten and modric he must not. The way forward is hazard/gotze, Martinez, munian, cavani, lavezzi, hamsik, kagawa etc
Any two or even three if we sold either nani or young, along with a left back is. a massive step forward in the right direction. No one can come on here and say these players are not available or there is no value in the market dross. If the price is right any player is for sale. NO MORE AVERAGE players

Agree0 Disagree0

The Chelsea match was nothing to go on... he was up against Paolo Ferreira who has had about 2 starts this season, and is way past his best. Gaitan is only slightly above average in a crap league.

Hey all,im just wondering do sydney or any of the eds know if the positions SAF wants to look at purchading are a wing back like clyne,cm and a cam/winger to replace berbatov or we actually gonna move for huntelaar??thanks. {Ed001's Note - the ones that I have heard being looked at are both full back positions, midfield (obviously) and left wing. Not heard of any move for a striker myself, though it is possible that the left winger could be to allow Young to move up front.}
