I think we really need to sort our defence out! I think the man is for that is hummells! He's the best young CB in the world and I think we have too sign him, I think Banies wouldn't have been a bad signing in the summer but too late now! And we are also in need of a CM, any ideas who we're linked with, with them 2 additions I think we'll be a strong side!
LiamA {Ed059's Note - As for a CM, we are being linked with Wayama (Celtic) and Strootman (PSV) are some of the biggest rumours.}

Hummels would be great but Germans rarely leave their homeland, and by homeland I mean Both Germany and Spain if you know what I mean

Good performance today. Defence still a little shaky and De Gea makes me nervous with the ball at his feet, other than that quite happy.

Rafael is getting better with every game, great support for a below par Valencia. If Fabio coul get to his level it would be like having the Neville's back. Centre back cover and def midfield still needed. Carrick is the weak link in this team

Aj

Believable38 Unbelievable19

Second part agree with... Do not agree with De Gea, kept us in it at times today

RedKnight

Agree5 Disagree0

De Gea made some quality saves but he makes some awful clearances with his feet and not the first time. He has the potential to be amazing and im sure once he's been at OT for a few years will be class

Aj

Agree6 Disagree0

Disagree strongly about Carrick, does a lot of brilliant work for the team that goes unnoticed. On the quiet his little incisive passes and excellent reading of the game are the glue that holds us together at times. He may not be spectacular but he's an very important and influential memeber of the team

monsoon

Agree0 Disagree1

Agree.... Carrick is the weak link. Sits back too much and draws teams on to us. Thats why at times midfield is over rin & the back four looks exposed. We need a midfielder that can control a game as well as drive us forward when under pressure. Chelsea got on top for 20 or 30 mins and Carrick disappeared.

Bullseye50 {Ed004's Note - Someone like Vidal?}

Agree3 Disagree0

Carrick is a great player when given time and space ie when chelsea went donw to 9 men. before that he offered nothing and i forgot he was on the pitch, rooney and cleverley were doing more then him and he is ment to be our seniour midfielder! ive said it before and ill say it again.......... Carrick would not get into any other team in the top 6! fact!

Agree2 Disagree0

Arsenal wanted Carrick when we signed him, there in the top 6... just saying.

This game in particular shows what a real talent De Gea is no matter how bad he is with crosses atm. I honestly believe he could become not just the best in the world but one of the best ever. Never seen a keeper with the coordination and unmatched reactions that he has.

For the last few years we have suffered some appalling decisions against Chelsea particularly at the hands of Martin Atkinson, and then there was the Drogba offside goal that cost a league title. Therefore weeping Chelsea fans have nothing to complain about whatsoever

First the decisions.
Ivanovic ,there cannot be an argument on that.
Torres, well he was touched by Evans but I don't think the touch took him down , still he was hard done to to be sent off for it. However Torres should have been sent off for the chest high De Jong style challenge on Cleverley.
Hernandez was offside but we had enough time to get a goal if that hadn't gone in.

As far as our play was concerned , we started off well but became overrun after 30 mins. Rooney played deep to try and have some control in the middle but the problem was Cleverley who was occupying the position where we needed a Keane type not a Cleverley. No one took command and for the middle third of the game we struggled. We are dangerous going forward but controlling games is a challenge with our midfield. The Ivanovic sending off, the correct sending off of Ivanovic tilted it in our favour.

Chelsea look a good side and I have a feeling they will be there at the end of the season

One point from today, if Torres is running through next time will he go down or will he stay on his feet? He has thrown himself to the floor before and if today puts an element of doubt in his head to stop him and others doing it in future then it has been a good day for football whether Chelsea like it or not.

A good win but not decisive

Red Man

Believable28 Unbelievable5

Of course Torres will go down in that situation, he's always been like that, he probably practises more than Tom Daley!

Snakey

Agree1 Disagree0

On the subject of Drogba's offside goal that cost you the league. Macheda's goal was practically bundled in the net with two hands so I dont really feel that you have anything to complain about. Torres tackle was a foul and Johnny Evans should have been booked and Hernandez goal was clearly offside. All in all the refferring decisions killed the game

Care to highlight some of those decisions?

Just a couple of things about todays game. Firstly I wonder if the media will make any comments about the disgraceful booing of Rio at todays game. His brother was the victim of racist abuse from a Chelsea player and this is how they react. Secondly it is obvious from the TV that objects are being thrown onto the pitch by Chelsea supporters That is easy to cut out. Make them play their next game behind closed doors it won't happen again. Best bit of the night was driving back from the pub listening to Alan Green going ballistic about the decisions today going for United and against his beloved Liverpool. Better watch your mouth Alan last time it shot off Mr Crerand had a word with you in the press box and I have never seen someone look so scared. I AM KLOOT

It does make you a United supporter to be gappy to win by any means, but its your problem Syd.

Maybe the first one was well deserved Red but what about the Torres's one amd the Offside?

Just like you I'll take the 3pts at Stanford but please don't come up with stories about being a good/bad supporter or questioning my support to United because I'm saying exactly what I saw on the game.

About the game itself
Appart from the assist Valencia was poor, Cleverly no good and we let Chelsea come back to tje game when we gave tje ball away all te time at 30' mins in the first half.

The only problem with today was... Mr Valencia. What has happened to him? Last season he was top quality.

But lets think about it, Valencia is so basic, it is get to the by-line and cross the ball, once you know what he is going to do it is very easy to defend against. He struggles to take on someone, as soon as there is not enough space for him to kick the ball 15yds forward and run after it he has nothing in his locker to beat a man. He needs to learn how to beat a man in a 1 vs 1 situation and unless he does that, he will either have to be a right back or moved on. If that was Nani with that performance today, the amount of abuse he would be getting off all of you would be ridiculous.

RedKnight

Believable13 Unbelievable20

Its still only 1 match after an injury mate. Give him another game or 2 at least, we have seen how effective he can be last season.

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm sorry but what has he done all season... next to nothing, isn't a threat at all

RedKnight

Agree0 Disagree1

See where your coming from he only had 2 assists today mate ! Are you for real ? Was a constant threat all game, don't know what you expect pal from him, your crackers
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

Every time we play Chelsea with Valencia he gets the beating of Ashley Cole.
The same Cole who used to show a certain Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo an imaginary pocket such his dominace defensively over Ronaldo in games.

Agree1 Disagree0

Valencia has great pace and power, but is also predictable and painfully one footed. I think he is better at right back and maybe Rafael on the wing.
Mik

Agree1 Disagree0

It's not that he can't take on someone.. He just can't take on more then one person !
It's seems the same with Young, Nani seems to be the only winger actually Nani seems to be the only player that will and can take on more then one player but he has been atrotious this season.

We need that sparky player, a player who is well able to beat players with ease!

Difference is though, Valencia has a bad game and still looks a threat at times, whereas when Nani has a bad game, he is like a man off, which lately, is quite often

Agree0 Disagree0

Are u guys for real all uniteds best attacks came from valencia and rafael on the right a few from young both wingers have bin out off actions for a little while valencia had old cole all day long! i think its time baines becomes england 1st choice left back as he got done by a not fully fit valencia!

Dan no worries. My partner hears a lot of stuff so i'm trying really not to drop anyone into the brown stuff. Thats the current talk anyway. The only one thats certain is Cole wont be joining United. City though do want him. Personally i can't see Pep in manchester i see him going to London but that just my opinion and not what anyone else is talking about. SpongeBob

I was seriously impressed with Young today.... He held the ball well put some decent balls in passed well and defended brilliantly..... He also lasted the whole game after being out for so long it says it all really.

Believable20 Unbelievable7

Yeah totally agree good first game back. Played a much better game than Nani would have. The thing i like most about Young is that he knows Evra is a lazy sh!t when it comes to defending so he'll always help him out and run back.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

You forgot his dive to get brana sent off,

Agree0 Disagree1

Personally I'm underwhelmed by Young in every game, except in the 8-2 against the Gunner a couple of seasons ago. This season we have looked at our best against Newcastle using a diamond formation in midfield.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree1

Not for me as i thought and posted early in the match that all the damage was done on Rafael and valencia side, which is quite interesting as SAF saw the same thing.

There was a spell where RVP was creating havoc and we had them on the counter and RVP's runs where taking their defenders with him and opening up the pitch. Young instead of using the opening as an opportunity did not make have a go and instead made quite few bad passes and gave the ball away.

It was his first game back and i agree that it was good to see him last 90 minutes.

Ok maybe a bit of luck with Chica's offside goal but Torres should have gone for his foul on Cleverley,so he was lucky to be on the pitch in the first place.
Liked the Clev and Carrick combination, worked well today. Young came back well today and for those doubters who said we shouldn't have signed RVP I hope your eating your words,I adore him he is amazing and is such a good outlet for the midfield, even Carrick is playing the passes now we have always known he could.

Red Daz

Believable13 Unbelievable3

I've just read your post and couldn't agree more. I'm shocked to here people said that about Rvp,he truly is a brilliant player and was the most consistant striker in the prem last season. Great movement, great touch and passing. If he was playing against us I'd be scared!

Agree1 Disagree0

Without RVP we would be mid table and anyone who doubts that is delusional. He has dragged us out of a lot so far.

Agree0 Disagree1

Carricks always been able to play great dangerous passes but only til now our forwards have been fantastic at getting into space and stretching the defence. RvP is truly just outstanding to watch, his contribution to the team is top class so glad we got him. Just pray that he doesn't get injured like he always used to.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Love the 3 points, but the performance wasn't United at their best. Our midfield really need a strong ballwinner and someone with guile and creativity. We're 2 midfilders and 2 injured defenders shy of being the best. Wayama and Eriksen, with Smalling, Jones and Vidic back would restore us to our usual top notch level.

What a day...
Skyfall,
Suarez: perfectly good goal disallowed.
Hernandez: offside goal stands.

Love it!

Shocking decision for Torres red, Jonny would have been lucky to stay on. Ref has to be certain he dived... Really bad decision.

Well done Fergy for taking Rooney off, we missed his play, but he would have been sent off. THAT was the right time to use Giggs. Glad that the little pea got his chance, deserved it after mid week performance.

Come on Utd, blind optimism will get us through ;)

DodgyBanter

Something wrong with you. How can someone love cheating.

No wonder so many people hate united.

They get result from referee week in week out.

Yeh i'm not a big fan of Giggs but him and Scholes are the only players we have where I feel comfortable if they have it in a tight area. Maybe RVP and Kagawa as well.

Since nobody else will say it, I will. Valencia was utter, utter horse rubbish today, did nothing except the one assist, if Nani had played like that, he would have been killed by an angry mob once he got off the team bus in Manchester. Other than that, what was the point in bringing on Giggs? He offers absolutely nothing. Nothing. Anderson or Nani, or even Scholes, but not Giggs. Decent performance but got lucky with the Torres red and the Hernandez goal (which was great).

Percy

Believable13 Unbelievable16

Anderson and Nani will play on Wednesday.

johndenton

Agree1 Disagree0

Why bring on Giggs? Because Rooney would've got sent off.

Percy, why do you not criticise Nani when he has a shocker?

G.A.G.U.S

Agree2 Disagree0

The problem is Percy, Nani plays like that each game. Valencia didnt have the best of games, but still ended up with an assist, and not a single attack came down his flank. He supported Rafael brilliantly and had more of a defensive role. So i am reasonably happy with his perfrmance.

Mick

Agree2 Disagree0

Are people genuinely stupid? I don't defend his bad performances, I defend him as a player, because he's better than any of our wingers. Either way, Nani or Anderson should have come on for Rooney, wouldn't have bothered me which one.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeah but Nani is consistently shocking and bringing on Griggs was good because why run the risk of getting him sent off... you saw how much the ref was under pressure

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Giggs came on so it counts as one of his ten appearances when we win the league. Once vidic, Smalling and Jones are back the defence should be able to deal with balls into the box as Chelsea hammered us for the ten mins before half time and ten mins after. Great win though. Up yours Chelsea !

Mez

I agree rooney should have been brought off when he was but fergie should have brought on scholes with chelsea being down to 9 men he would have opened them up with his passing and we would have been more comfortable in possession and would have scored more goals !!!!

Come on guys... Hold your nerve. We've played well, Chelski were always going to have a strong spell, and it took a fantastic free kick from Mata to score.

I think we need to force ourselves back onto the offensive, not trying to hang on.

Our bench is very strong, hope this sees us through... Come on Utd!!

DodgyBanter

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Why did we not gone for the jugular and finished them convincingly, they had 9 men for god sake. We should have put them to the sword. Embarrassing if you ask me, chelsea will take heart from this result now.

dan does it really matter if i leave a name or not? I have it on very good authority from a source i cannot and will not divulge that Ashley Cole will move to City in the summer and that Pep Guardiola will be City manager in the summer. Furthermore both Tevez and Nani will be in serie A next season. Vidic will also depart for the right fee. United are heavily scouting centrebacks, box to box and attacking midfielders. If you need a name... Call me SpongeBob.

some news. Pep is coming to manchester but he's going to City. Mancini has to win the league this season after cocking up the champions league but given chelsea's form its looking unlikely. Hence the move for Pep. City have been appointing a lot of ex barca staff with another this week. Also Pep's put forward a shortlist which reads Busquets at the top followed by Thiago or Cesc whichever barca prefer to sell, Cole on a bosman amongst others.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

This is surely a wind up. No name and I find it massively unlikely that Pep would want to go to a club like city, even if they are buying out a load of ex Barca staff.

Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

Another easy job for pep.... Anyone who needs a break after a relatively short time in charge is 100% not what our club needs..... Ole's on his way boys

Strootman priced at £25m. Bit much but I'd get him.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

I think Wanyama at 10 - 15m is a better deal than Strootman for 25m. Strootman is a box to box style player, good but not what United really need. We need a muscular midfielder with presence and Wanyama is a better fit. Of course I think we need 2 midfielders so Wanyama/M'vila and Eriksen for a combined fee of 35 -40 million would be my ideal. To finance it I would sell Anderson for 10m+, Young 18m+ and Hernandez for 14m+.

'Manchester United are on course to reclaim the title of the richest club in the world, with an income of half a billion pounds within the next few years.'

Glazers aren't doing too bad, now if only they left that money within MUFC and not their deep pockets.

Believable22 Unbelievable2

One ffp comes into play we could be doing very well

Agree0 Disagree0

Sponsorship deals are doing wonders for us. We are the biggest club in the world and will show it with the size of the sponsorships. If we reduced ticket prices we could expand OT to a circa 90,000 capacity and still fill it!

Dan

It does not matter how much money is raised by the Glazer's....we exist to pay the debts of their business empire. There have been vast amounts of money made by Utd but we still have a massive debt against us.
