Question for 002, does interest remain in Guarin? Or is all our interest in Carvalho right now? Cheers and sorry if already answered this. Greatly appreciate your info 002.

{Ed002's Note - All I can say is that there has been no offer for him.}

If juventus won't sell vidal why we would we sell them Chico after evra went unless they do business.
If they won't tell them to stuff off and sell him to another.

How do you know that we were ever really in for him, or that it wasn't Vidal that turned us down. Doesn't matter where Hernandez goes as long as we get a good price

Agree1 Disagree0

What if they've bid the most money, or they're the only team to have bid?

Good call make him part of the deal or quote a huge price well above value sick of paying what other clubs want and selling our players cheap

Agree1 Disagree0

It's quite simple really: Juve don't want to sell Vidal, United want to sell Hernandez.

Agree5 Disagree0

Because this is not swapping footy stickers in the playground. Chances are United haven't offered what Juve want just like last summer and we've missed another world class midfielder.

If Juve are willing to pay what United ask for Chica then they'll sell him. That's what normally happens, Woodward doesn't seem to get the grip of this yet.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nani and Anderson may not be worth much, but Hernandez is a good player to use in player exchanges. So is Kagawa in fact. I hope we use these players wisely to get the best out of the remaining 50 hours of the window.

Central defence is a matter of urgency. I don't think its an exaggeration to say that a top centre back may be the difference between 4th and 5th this season. Our attack is outstanding. We can probably deal with midfield provided Herrera is fit. The achilles heel has to be the shocking defence. A genuine player in this area may make a serious difference to us this season.

I think its time to throw the kitchen sink at Dortmund, as we did with Di Maria. Put whatever premium necessary on the table. Should we make a signing like Hummels and get top 4, the fee is paid off +.

Our situation makes reckless spending a necessity, not a hazard. CL football, merchandising & sponsorship give us the potential to turn success into hard cash like no one's business. Forget about Liverpool fans on twitter and get the deals wrapped EdWW.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't blame Juventus

If they don't want to sell now, it's because they won't be able to find an able replacement in such short time

If Utd really wanted Vidal, this deal would've happened earlier

Agree1 Disagree0

I totally agree RedIsotope. Woodward is obviously very good for us on the commercial side of things. I think he should be left to do that and we should get someone else in to deal with the transfers. I hate to say it but a Director of Football might not be a bad idea.

I might sound a bit cynical but it didn't sit well with me when he gave the interview saying we've got money to burn on transfers. Surely potential sellers will be rubbing there hands together.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should play hardball, you want him you pay this stupid figure or we take the stance you won't deal with us we won't deal with you.
If we want vidal keep slapping down the euros till they say yes, flex the muscles all these sponsorship deals give us.
We give in too easy.

Agree2 Disagree0

If vidal is a no go why not try some sort of deal with Hernandez for chiellini? Just a thought.

Agree1 Disagree0

What if its a case of United playing hardball then stumping up the money on transfer deadline day when there is no room for negotiating. Juve may well accept an offer that late with no replacement as they think his value will only depreciate from now because of his age.

Agree1 Disagree0

A director of football does sound like a good idea. Right now however money has to be dished out. Teams in Europe are watching us fill out 90,000 seater friendlies in the US. We are sweating on the completion of a top to bottom first team rebuild, & there is an unnerving pressure to restore our Champions league pedigree. Its a bad combination, - and unfortunately, you have to pay for it.

In time it will become easier. Directors can sit back and pick off players at value once the existing squad is strong. Toni Kroos, Van persie, Carzorla, Fabregas etc. pop up every few years at reasonable prices afterall. Right now, however, the money has to go out the door. That for me begins with a world class centre back.

Cheillini is a good suggestion, but i'm not sure Juventus will let him go. At the start of the window there was Mangala, Hummels and Benatia. One remains on that list. Hummels won't be cheap, but what's the alternative? We are one injury away from lining up the defence that faced MK Dons. If that isn't a threat to top 4 and sustaining future profits, then what is?

The question to EdWW and the Glazers right now is "how much is this problem going to cost us?", not, "how much is this player worth?" No trophies, no CL, means no sponsorship, no empire.

Hummels is worth £20-25million. i'm not a huge fan of Hummels as some may know, but he is a world class defender, and with 2 days left on the clock, - after which we probably go into the new season unable to challenge our rivals, the value of Hummels is whatever Dortmund want for him. We left it too late, and its now boom or bust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Director of football, maybe Mr Gill could be persuaded to take on the job.

Everything we know about Vidal has come from Ed002. So we know that we are interested and have bid aside from that everything is speculation.

I think we may still see a late move if not then so be it. We have been active and aggressive in this window and as we stand I am more worried about bedding the players in that we have already secured. So let's just enjoy the last couple of days of the window and see what happens:)

Ed or fellow reds, Have we ever shown interest in Cerci of Torino?

Believable1 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - No, and he won't be a Torino player much longer.}

Thanks.

Hi Ladies and gentleman,

We are edging closer to the signing of highly rated Ajax young defender Timothy fosu Mensah a 16 year old. Great player to watch out for the future.

Look like Valencia are now in for Cleverly, big squad clearance coming up. is it to free spaces for the likes of Dejong, Blind and someone else?

Believable18 Unbelievable8

It's to free up space currently clogged up by s**t players!

Agree7 Disagree0

It might just be that we are selling the players who are not good enough for the 1st team

Agree1 Disagree0

Could there be interest in Dani Parejo of Valencia? 10m + Cleverly and we can do away with the never ending Vidal and Carvahlo rumours.
Valencia seem to always be in the process of balancing the books, - a quick bargain would be nice for a change.

It seems to me there are some decent defensive midfielders out there. i'm a lot more worried about centre backs to be honest.

Tom cleverly maybe leaving, no 23. Arturo vidal no 23. Any coincidence?

Believable14 Unbelievable49

They both have 1 "r" in their names to, coincidence?

Agree3 Disagree0

Grasping at straws, but one can hope!

Agree2 Disagree0

No coincidence at all.Its one of two things
1)vidal refused to come in till he got the no.23 shirt so we had to sell cleverly against our/his wishes.
2)We sold cleverly and started looking at all the no.23s(cause only a 23 can replace a 23) of various teams and agreed upon vidal. We could also have gone for michael jordan but he's retired

Agree4 Disagree0

Give it up mate Vidal isn't coming to Utd!

Carvalho, Fosu Mensah, Odegaard and Blind will come in.

Carvalho & Blind for the first team and Fosu Mensah & Odegaard for the Reserves.

Agree0 Disagree2

According to sky sports valencia have put a bid in for him

Yes massive coincidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

HERBIE, Arturo has 2 "r"s anyway way as for the rumour I have to say it would be nice if it were true!

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom Cleverley - the only United player whose value is about the same as his squad number, £23.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidal has 5 letters, he wants the 23 shirt, 2+3=5. Need I say more gentlemen?

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes, this is indeed a coincidence. Wow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Heskey Still Playing and If So He Would Slot In Well

Vidal has apparently told his team mates he is staying

As much as this seems like a silly reason, I would presume if Vidal did sign he'd want the number 23 considering he has the number tattooed on his arm
