Messi just scored an amazing hat trick against switzerland, Shaqiri scored a consolation, he is a great player. raging we missed out on him, cant believe he only cost munich 9 million

Believable14 Unbelievable2

It was 1 all until the 88th minute shaqiri scored early on, how is that a consolation?

just watching the match, glad we never spent all that money on sneijder, does no work off the ball, nice when he's on it but no better than scholes at the age he is now,30 mill,no chance

Believable15 Unbelievable1

He is 27 get ur facts right

Agree0 Disagree0

He put a , in meaning 30mil not 30yrs old

Agree0 Disagree0

My word judging a world class player who has won titles played in 3 different countries for top sides, won champs lge medal & been to a world cup final on 1 international friendly, just apply for chief scout now mate?
ajk

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder was never in Ronaldo's or Messi's category, not even in Xavi, Iniesta's or Rooney's category. He is just under that IMO and at 27 and asking for wages that Messi would want, is there any wonder why we never concluded the deal for him. He is a £150k a week player, not a £250k a week player.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, not having a go here, just wondering, is your info on Sneijder's demands bang on?
I only ask as I heard the player & United agreed terms but it was Inter that pulled the plug once Eto had been sold.
United playing a bit of brinkmanship to drive the buy price down (having the player set for a move) but Inter's circumstances changed once the Eto deal was finalised.
Not saying your wrong mate just heard a different story.
ajk

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder is a class player if if anybody thinks he would not be good enough for our team at 27 really needs to think again. I think we may go for him this year again as he wants to leave Inter and I think he would take a pay cut to join us. He has all the experience needed to run midfield plus the skill plus the football brain. I am sick of people saying he wanted huge money to join us last year, unless people on here were there if there were negotiations they should stay quiet. It also suits Utd to say he wanted huge money as another reason we never bought a quality midfielder last year.

Damian M

Agree0 Disagree0

The year Inter won the Champions League Sneijder was as good as anyone.
Would have been a great addition to our squad this season but we really missed a trick not making a move for him whilst at Madrid when Ronaldo went the other way.
At 27/28 he would still be great value @ £20m, please do not quote this sell on value garbage as it is a flawed business model, on pitch success & merchandising would out way potential resale value.
ajk

Agree0 Disagree0

WS has only had one good domestic season since leaving Ajax. he flopped at Real, had a great season when Inter done the treble, but has been injured and/or ordinary in his other 2 and a bit seasons in Italy. As he is likely to play only 15-20 games per season I hope we wouldn't pay for him at all.Inter would want 30 million he'd want at least 8 million per season, so over 3 seasons we'd be paying 450,000 per game for him. I think that is poor value, even with some merchandising thrown in. Let's go for someone 20 -23 year of age like Eriksson
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

It's common knowledge that both City and Chelsea baulked at his wage demands. Chelsea reps spoke to him in America unless I am mistaken. City's reps and Inter's reps spent a whole weekend discussing a deal and walked away. United had a few fruitless meetings with his reps which was confirmed by Inter's president and his agent. If the club wasn't happy to sell they wouldn't have allowed United's reps to talk to his reps. Inter Milan had hoped to sell both Eto'o and Sneijder in the summer, Moratti made it clear that both needed to be removed from the wage list. I wouldn't have complained to see Sneijder in a United shirt during the summer, but not for £200k+ a week. We could bring in two top quality players on them wages.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mik,
Yur ridiculas.eirikson isn't even half as good as sneijder was or is right now!hes not even good enough to smell his boots leT alone fill them, cop yourself on mate!ajk and Damian m are right and fully agree with everything they have said!we have enough young players such as cleverly to learn from sneijder.he would be a phenomenal asset to our team.he has pace, skill, goals and a magnificent passer of the ball and extremely intelligent on the ball.he knows how to
speed play up or slow it down.he would make a difference.if sneijder came to utd he would be just as good if not better than scholes in his prime and that's saying a lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

'no name ranter'

Sneijder has had ONE world-class season in his whole career and that was while Jose was in-charge which was also a World Cup year. No one is doubting he is a top class player, but he is not even close to being on par with Scholes of old and I am shocked that you have said that. I have watched him a lot, not just this season, but when he was at Ajax, RM & Inter and I am not convinced that he is the answer long-term. At 28, injury prone and temperamental, he could end up being a costly mistake. I am not convinced we will go back for him unless his value and demands lower significantly. He has been woeful all season and you can only rate a player by his last season. Who's to say he would recapture his form if we were to sign him?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Better than Scholes in his prime? Did I read that correctly?

I agree he's a good player but I think you must have a crush on the lad.

Sydney is right, he's injury prone, he won't improve as a player and may never find his top form again.
I'd be much happier with no-one new than if we signed him.

If it was cheap then it would be a different story, but it's not.

Pritpal

Agree0 Disagree0

This nonsense of always having a go at sniejder is really getting irritating. IMO, W.S is a world-class midfielder. when on form, i would put him in the same league as xavi and iniesta. Do i need to remind people that rooney basically spat on our club and held it to ransom. So if you gonna have a go at wesley for his wage demands, please dont forget to do the same with wayne otherwise its just plain hypocritical b.s.
I am just getting tired of people stating that w.s is over-priced and too old and then suggesting we buy modric who will cost more, is around the same age as w.s but is not as good.
'Sydney'
if sneijder has only had one world-class season, then by that definition, rooney has also only had one world-class season.

Millz

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with everything the milz says snejider is what we need. How long has scholes left and also giggs? Again if somebody sat on any negotiations we had with snejider then can they please let us know and not reading stories that appear on Internet sites newspapers etc. We have enough young players it's about time we bought experience and quality at that, it's also about time our midfield is sorted out once and for all. I would also sell Anderson his time is up and has proved nothing seems to b always injured. I also think if we had schjder in our champions league games we would not be sitting at home watching it on tv

Damian M

Agree0 Disagree0

Inter president Massimo Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“If Eto’o leaves, Sneijder stays . Sneijder was untouchable even before this hypothesis, now he is even more so. Sneijder will stay here.â€

Sod England. If you want drama you should be watching our Youth team in the FAYC against Charlton. Our boys have won 3-2 with an injury time goal from young James Wilson. Great result and yet another example of the never say die attitude that runs from top to bottom at our club. Bring on the semi finals.

We are going to have a big budget in the summer to restrengthen:

Edison Cavani
Javi Garcia
Mehdia Benatia
James Rodeiguez

They will all come in.

Cavani and Rodriguez will not be joining United I can guarentee that. Other two are likely though. Medhi Benatia will have about 20 clubs after him so that may not be to easy. Javi Garcia is a big possiblity.

Does anyone agree that De Gea may have been secured by us to with the added potential of luring other younger Spanish players?
We have a history of doing this sort of thing.

Supasub

Believable14 Unbelievable10

The most likely Spanish player is Javi Garcia i think, but perhaps it could of been a motive? I doubt it though, he was bought due to his quality.

UnitedForever

Agree0 Disagree0

Je's going to be one of the top keepers in the world, I'd that not enough?! {Ed007's Note - Have you bit your tongue by accident?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure we bought him because of his quality. Any potential help that may give us in attracting good young spanish talent is no more than an added bonus IMO.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we just bought him because he will be world class in few years time.
ajk

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think so, yeah it probably helps if we were going for the likes of Martinez and Muniain but he was signed because he's the most promising young keeper out there that was available.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

We bought him for 2 reasons, he will be good and because we are short of money. While the fee may sound a lot it's not when considering the years we will get out of him and if he wants to leave there will be a good sell on fee

Agree0 Disagree0

We bought him cos in a few years time he'll be the best keeper in the world n eventually take casillas's role in the spain setup when he's ready to retire

I think it is likely that targets of ours will become more available in the summer due to changes in management amongst the bigger clubs. I think that Redknapp and Mourinho will both leave their clubs at the end of the season, this makes moves for the likes of Bale, Modric, Ozil, Khedira and Ronaldo more realistic targets to pursue.

I think that we have been sneaky with the use of our money in the past few years since the Ronaldo departure so that Ronaldo can come back. It would be the ultimate slap in the face to City who are trying to buy the title off of us. With SAF retiring in probably 3 years, Mourinho leaving Madrid and perhaps Ronaldo achieving his goals of winning the league and CL with Madrid, a mov may be back on the cards.

He has not said that his future lies in Madrid, he has numerous times not ruled out a move and also has said 'only god knows' where his future lies. Where have we heard that before?

Here's to a possible return to Ronaldo in the summer!

As much as I would like SAF to sell Evra, the frequency with which SAF is playing him clearly indicates that SAF still rates him and might not sell him.

What do you guys think about Evra as a makeshift left winger ?

Lets face it , attackwise he is still pretty decent and we would finally have a naturally left footed winger ?

MUMBAI_BOY

Believable5 Unbelievable18

I seem to be giving my opinion on this every week. Evra is only playing every week because we have no one better at the club right now, it's his experience and calmness that is favoured over Fabio's lack of experience and rashness. Evra is far too slow and cannot cross a ball so he will be about as good as a left winger as he is a left back, average at best. Evra was one of the best LB's in the world a couple of season's ago. He is arguably defensively one of the worst now.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Evra has a great level of fitness too, he's barely injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Evra is kept because of his attacking prowess I think that is intentional by SAF I also we are hoping that Fabio can take over from him in the next year or two, until that time I can't see him going anytime soon

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on, Sydney. Bring in Izaguirre, and quick!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney! is spot on. Hopefully United will bring someone in this summer to compete for places. Or Fabio will get a consistent run of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many assists/goals does Evra have in the past 3 seasons? Not many despite continually getting into good forward positions he just wastes his final ball time after time, United need better.

Cristiano Ronaldo stated that he would like a move back to the Prem. Man. City and Chelsea are the only teams that could pay for him but he prefers a move back to Man. United. HORRAY!

Believable13 Unbelievable5

Would love it to be true but cant see it,if we get bought then sweet but its all about money n we sadly no more have enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Massive wishful thinking,

Ron stated in the past he will only come back to the prem if he returns to us.

Love the guy but if we did take him back would that not be a step back in relation to a progressive team?

As someone else has said on here as much as i love ron i feel for the same type of money we could get 2 future stars which is more beneficial to the club and both player wages will likely be less that rons put together.

Monk

Agree0 Disagree0

Monk

Ronaldo is the best player I have seen at Old Trafford and I have been very fortunate to see many great ones.
Ronaldo adds goals, pace but also threat. Any team that starts with Ronaldo (or Messi) starts with someone above the opposition and psychologically have an immediate advantage.
That is worth paying for and I havent seen anyone in World Football who get near either Ronaldo or Messi. If we get chance we absolutely must buy Ronaldo this summer. Each year after that becomes a bigger decision as he gets older. One other point is if we sit back and dont sign him and the opposition do, City for example we let them get the advantage we once had.

Todays latest :Turning to French teenager Pogba, the agent insisted that the player would only consider a switch to Serie A for one reason – to play.

“We firstly have to discuss a possible renewal with United, then we could talk to other clubs if needed.

“However, if he arrived in Italy, then it would be to play immediately and not to mature.”

Believable6 Unbelievable0

This seems to confirm the information i was given from someone who i wouldn't claim was in the know quiet the average no links to the game joe tbh.

They claimed a "friend" of theirs had overheard a conversation Pogba was having with an unknown friend about the talks. They claimed he said he was fine with the pay being offered but hoped for better assurances on playing time. They also claim that he'd said his agent was advising him to bide his time as they (assuming OT) could offer more money and give better assurances on playing time.

Now i told this person he was chatting the proverbial but it seems not. Still sceptical myself but seems either coincidental to match up with a BS story he was spouting or he was being genuine.

Monk

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe this kid is getting fustrated with the lack of first team opportunities. I can understand when Fergie prefers playing the likes of park in the CM role. If this kid is as good as everyone is saying then why hasn't he had more first team action.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

'Simmo'

It's two-fold, 1) SAF has said he will not rush Pogba's progression. 2) He is yet to agree a new deal, I expect he would have played a little more if he had signed on the dotted line.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe its all the chat his agent is giving plus not signing the contract is why SAF wont play him
Agents are the biggest bane in footy but also it could be us reaping what we sow by ninja'ing every other teams players when youngsters

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney

I understand what you are saying regarding not rushing Pogba but the match against Ajax last week was a perfect for him to play in. Instead he chooses Park who is bad enough when he plays on the left nevermind in the middle. Also the likes of Paul Scholes coming out of retirement, using Ryan Giggs in the middle and putting Tom Cleverley straight back in after 4 months out injured suggests that he is well down the pecking order at OT. No doubt that once Fletcher comes back and Anderson (who is a waste of time) they will all get in ahead of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe if he signs a deal he can go on loan for half a season to get first team footy then come back for the second half of the season and be the boost we need.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should Fergie pick someone who isnt committed to the club ? hes just a kid not a superstar so should stop acting like a big time charlie and work for his place. if hes as good as he thinks he is he will get games and the rest will flow from there. if hes not committed then he should go elsewhere.
I dont recall Tom Cleverley acting in this way and it didnt hold him back did it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should Fergie pick someone who isnt committed to the club ?

totally agree no manager should pick a player not willing to commit to the club its unfair on those who really want the oppertunity to play not to put themselves in the shop window for a pay day

id play for utd for 100 quid a week IF i got the chance*, having a glorious career will bring in the cash in endorsements sod the pay check give me that red shirt anyday!

* im sh1te so would never happen but thats my take IF i was good enough.

You have wrongly assumed that all players join and play for United to wear the shirt. You or I would play for the pride however remember we brought Pogba in from Le Havre no doubt with a monetary offer. That was the keystone in our new youth policy of getting them young and much much cheaper than having to buy expensive already proven ones. The thing is with that policy is that if we dont pay them or give them playing time which they may well have been promised when originally signing then they have a lot less loyalty than a Manchester United fan in the same position. Take a look at Nasri and Fabregas who had little loyalty to Arsenal in the end.
Pogba should have had more playing time but what will be in SAFs mind is that if Pogba is doing this now what will he do if at say 23 he has proved himself, will he do the same?

Pogba and Fryers have apparantly been told they have 48 hrs to sign new deals or forget about playing for Utd again.... Some better news is Cleverley may return for for the Bilbao game next Thursday.... HERBIE

Believable7 Unbelievable3

We need this hardline approach 2bh. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate people wanting to get the best deals possible but there is a lot of unfairness in in contracts between players/clubs but we can't tolerate this type of behaviour and lines need to be drawn on over the top contracts. No player is worth 200k+ a week!

Agree0 Disagree0

Tabloid nonesense

Why would Fergie give a 48 hour deadline?

All he has to do is state "Until you sign the contract you will not play for manchester united again".

I really can't see the need for the 48 hour deadline if Pogba still has 18 months on his contract and Ezkiel has the same or Less.

New rumours have cropped up in the press today! Rayo Vallencano's right back Tito was a target, as was Ozil/Khedira along with Stevanovic who plays for Torino. I know nothing about Tito and Stevanovic, any one know anything about them? Would they be worth a move?

I hope we don't go for Khedira, he is technically terrible. Javi Garcia, is a better option for me and I hope that we go in for him.

As for Ozil, he would be fantastic, but i don't think that we will buy him, other targets are better priced and will be good for the League. Ozil may be a bit lightweight for the EPL.

UnitedForever

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Oezil would be the best player to buy in the summer other than Ronaldo of course. At around £25m Oezil would be able to play left central midfield or left wing. I think this would spell the end for Anderson mind.

Very true, a lot will depend on Pogba. I guess there is no harm in keeping Anderson as his wages are pretty low.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people keep going on about ozil? He's playing in one of the best club sides in the world, who will win la liga and possibly the champions league and watched by fans who love him! He won't be joining utd any time soon! I think some fans need to grow up a little and realise that not every player in world football wants to play for Utd!

And.....too lightweight for the epl? Give me a break

Agree0 Disagree0

UnitedForever

have to disagree with you about Khedeira, he is in fact a very technically gifted player. Ok he is not in the same bracket as an Alonso or a Carrick who both play a similar position, but for a DM he has a great first touch and a good short range passing ability. His only problem, and the reason i wouldn't sign him, is that he is slower than a snail. He can appear great in the Spanish league, as well as International tournaments. I do think that Stuttgart? were laughing at the fee they recieved for him (15m ish).

I feel the standout players for that role we should/could be looking at are Martinez, Rodwell, and Vidal(should). All three are more technical, more athletic, and more passionate when I have seen them play.

Thoughts?
