Do any of the eds know if a premier league club made a bid for Strootman this past week?

Voetbal International says agent Rob Jansen made PSV aware of serious interest from a Premier League club last week and invited the player's minder, Cheil Dekker, to consider the offer.

"I was in shock, it was such a dream transfer, " Mamaev said. "The deal was around 80% complete, but with my limited number of caps for Russia, I couldn't get a work permit. Sir Alex Ferguson said he would try and solve it, but the contact never came again."
Apparently in the summer we tried to sign Mamaev, a 24 year old defence minded midfielder from CSKA Moscow.

How long would some thing like that take to sort? must be a fair amount of red tape surely

I mean mamayev. Don't know anything about him though apart from what was in the article.

Very interesting. Anyone know if he has had more caps? If he has then we may go back in for him - I always think that Eastern Europeans make good defenders & DMs.

Fresh! {Ed004's Note - He has very few, if any caps, for his country}

Ed, With all the latest rumours about us tabling a bid for Wanyama doing the rounds, do you still believe he will stay at Celtic till the summer?

You better be prepared to spend big on him in the summer, yous are not getting him cheap

Agree0 Disagree0

How much do you reckon (realistically)

Agree0 Disagree0

As things stand I would say, realistically £12-15m in the summer but if Celtic progress in the CL and Wanyama continues to stand out then it could be closer to £18m. He has already played both xavi and iniesta of the park in both legs against barca and if he keeps pirlo quiet in the Juve ties I would expect Celtic to progress to the quarters and as I say, his price will continue to rise.
I would say Man utd are favorites at the min but, I can guarantee there will be a host of top European clubs bidding for him.
Anyone that hasn't seen this lad play, I recommend watching this lad against Juve, IMO he will be the worlds best def midfielder for the next 10 years, IF money doesn't get to his head like most African players

Celticthomas {Ed004's Note - I don't think it will be his responsibility to tackle the task of keeping Pirlo quiet. Pirlo's a deep lying playmaker and Wanyama will very rarely push up on him as he will be busy with other players. An interesting battle will be between him Vidal and Marchisio and I would be shocked and pleased for him if wanyama could keep them quiet. As a Celtic fan how is Wanyama's passing ability?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point ed! on wanyamas passing, it has improved immensly in the last few months..especially his lang range accuracy with both feet. ii honestly think this lad has everything and will be the one of the worlds best players. ed007 would prob back me up on this.

celticthomas {Ed004's Note - Ed 7 is constantly singing his praises and has convinced me that he will be a top player can't wait to watch him vs Juventus and see how much of a leader he is}

Just saw on tv that Chelsea are approaching butland? Surely he's not needed as courtois is Czechs understudy unless courtois is being sold? TRUMORS

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Probs to barca or madrid I guess he's doing well out there.

Reports from Portugal this week claimed United have already lodged a bid of 15million euro - around £12million - for Benfica's Argentine centre-back Garay. The 26-year-old - formerly of Real Madrid - is rated at 30million euro (£24million) by the Portugese side and has pulled from Benfica's game with Braga today leading to increased speculation about his future. United scouts have been monitoring Garay for much of the season.

do any of the eds know how serious our interest in Garay is?

Believable26 Unbelievable9

Cant help but laugh everytime I see the name 'garay'

Keeps reminding me of only fools and horses when boyce's asking gary if he wants a sandwich and he's freaking out lol

Safwetrust87

Thought the same mate. Perhaps we will then be known as the merciless 'Garay gang' haha.

Dan

Agree3 Disagree0

Well if we do buy him and he gets interviewed he might get asked what its like to be a man united player! His answer? "Garay"!

Agree1 Disagree0

Does that mean we shouldn't sign anyone called dave too?

Agree0 Disagree1

Why would Manutd pay 30 million euros for a centrel defender, and have a future world class pairing in Jones and smalling that means saf must see Jones as the new Roy Keane in the middle of the park

Agree0 Disagree0

While he learns English all answers will simply be "Garay!"

Agree1 Disagree0

We will not pay £24 million for him. £15 million at the most - but Benfica won't be accepting that as a lot of the transfer fee will be going to Madrid. Its going to take silly money to take him to OT.

The way Anderson has played against Fulham, I think SAF should consider him play more regularly in the first team squad. With Carrick as DM and Clev, Anderson and Kagawa just up front with two strikers - Rooney or Hernandez and Van Persie with usual back four and GK. 4-1-3-2 the formation I really feel can lead us to the Treble. what's your opinion guys.

Red Devil.

Believable59 Unbelievable15

Rather 4-3-1-2. Ando and Clev in midfield along with Carrick an Kagawa just behind the strikers. 4-1-3-2 only works on Fifa.

Moen#7

Agree0 Disagree0

Good shout maybe not a 4-1-3-2 formation, maybe more of a 4-2-2-2 with Cleverley and Carrick sitting back with Anderson and Kagawa playing more advanced, we can always switch to wingers when needed.

I'm starting to think we look most dangerous when we have Rooney, Chicha and RvP on at the same time. Then also carrick, Anderson, kags or cleverz!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would if he was fit consistently m8

ms85

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson can play great in one game then a shambles in the enxt. I honestly don't understand why he is so inconsistent - his passing often leaves so much to be desired, misplacing simple 5 and 10 yard passes.

Agree0 Disagree1

With the form that our wingers are in, apart from Young, I would like to see us do the 4-3-3 more often:

_________DDG
Rafa__Small__Vidic__Evra
__Ando__Carrick__Clevs
__Roo____RVP____Chicha

That is what I think is our best line up, however I would like Kagawa in there as well, maybe for Anderson or Chicha. Then we have the wingers to come on and change things up. I certainly hope that we line up like that against Madrid as we will not be as easily overrun in midfield by Khedira.

Fresh!

Agree0 Disagree0

How about a 3-2-2-3. With ddg, smalling, vidic, rio then jones and carrick in front of the back 3.with kagawa and ando and roo, rvp and chicha up top . This way we can fit all the firepower in at once. Danc

Agree0 Disagree3

I think injury has been the only thing keeping him out. Fergie rates him very highly and always comments upon the Brazilians' commitment to being te firt in and last out of training.

I would love to see Anderson stay fit and healthy for the rest of the season. Alongside Carrick we have a dynamic and controlled central pairing.

MDJ

The Midfield would get trounced....Anderson Struggles to keep up with the game after 30 mins. Cleverley isn't the best defensive wise which leaves Carrick to do it all by himself again.
Hernandez hasn't got a clue how to play anywhere alse but up top, he would be lost trying to track back covering the left hand side.
There is no width in that team, it would be too narrow for me.
I think Rooney and RVP have to play up top together, its the most dangerous parnetship and we have and they could tear Madrid apart if they are both on there game.
