Is it true united representatives are in Lisbon to strike a deal for Willian Carvalho?

Believable21 Unbelievable23

Haven't heard of anything but I'd love to sign him but I wouldn't pay any more than 20 mill.

Agree1 Disagree1

A few reports suggesting this, 42m Euro?. Wait and See with this one

Agree2 Disagree0

I hope so! Would be a fantastic coup on top of the other 2. Come on Ed :-)

Agree3 Disagree0

I'd prefer Vidal for that sort of money!

We won't get Vidal. Juve would prefer to lose Pogba and he will be joining Chelsea or will go la liga. Carvalho will be an excellent signing, a lot of money but an investment, one that I is ready class and the potential to improve.

Agree2 Disagree2

Much as I love Vidal, I think Carvalho's age represents longer term value for money. If he is signed, the average age of the first team is dropping loads, which bodes well for the future (should they perform, that is. )

Agree1 Disagree1

Willy C would be a good signing. He is very composed on the ball, a very neat passer, he isn't slow and would sit nicely in front of the defence allowing Herrera and Rooney to run around the midfield more freely. His interceptions and tackles are good. He stays on his feet and will only improve.

Vidal would be most of our first choice and clearly MU's first choice like the editor told us months ago. Obviously if Pogba is moving MU will know that Vidal wouldn't be for sale, so I think it makes sense that we will now try to wrap up the Carvalho deal. I don't think we will pay £37m though, perhaps £20m-£25m plus Bebe.

Agree3 Disagree0

We would all like our top options which would be Vidal and Pogba but unfortunately there is only a small chance of either happening. Also assuming Van Gaal players to the systems we think then maybe Carvallho may actually be better suited to our needs.
Age would mean we have a midfield set for years if him Harera and Mata work out.

Agree1 Disagree0

Hopefully we can get carvalho, as the comments above say he is composed on the ball, strong and I believe he can develop into one of the very best in the world, a friend also told me he won 6-7 (out of 9)player of the month awards last year which is incredible for a def midfielder. If we can get this done +de vrij, vermailen + depay (I know this is a lot but I think these will happen) then this will have been our busiest and best ever transfer window along with the 5-7 that are going to leave

Agree1 Disagree0

I reckon Vidal is more likely to leave then Pogba is, so I wouldn't discount a bid for him.
Carvalho wouldn't be a bad alternative though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see juventus selling vidal personally, and keeping pogba. Whether we will pay for vidal, or whether he favours a switch to united is difficult to say.

Juventus are a financially intelligent club, and have had a reputation of selling world class players and replacing them with "better ones, " - even throughout their glory years in the 1980's and 90's. No doubt they will play into that reputation to appease fans, in the event of the sale of a star asset. They are a big side, however, that have underacheived in europe for last 10 years. I think they will be reluctant to sell more than one or two key players. Certainly not two in the same position. That said, which of the two players does it make more sense to sell? Vidal will be 28 next year and his value may snap from 35m+ to 20-25m, even without a loss of form. Pogba will more than likely retain his value, - possibly even increase it, throughout the next 4 years.
Under Moyes it seemed vidal was a priority target, but I think the situation may have changed from a united perspective. Woodward and Van Gaal appear to favour younger players with their peak years ahead of them. It makes sense financially to invest 30m + on players that can play for 7-10 years, rather than 3-4. Ultimately players that give you double the playing time in years, are halving your investment.
On the footballing side, we know that LVG likes players with fresh minds, prepared to buy into his philosophy and work on his vision of the game. I suspect the rumours that we may only go to 30m, 35m max for vidal may be true.

Personally I find this disappointing because I rate vidal well ahead of carvahlo. Carvahlo looks like a good prospect, but dosent appear to push himself on the pitch. After years of a slow, labouring midfield, I say buy players that have ability and dynamism, if you are going to spend big. Overpriced or not, Herrera is a brilliant signing because he solves this dilemna in the squad. Get another one, and we will be in a good state in midfield for the first time in years.

Either Pogba or Vidal and I'd be over the moon!

Agree3 Disagree0

Pogba fantastic player, one if best in the world. But just have bad feeling about him and his agent: reminds me of Anelka. Would much rather have Vidal.

But could be wrong and he could be the next Keane! Still think we'll get De Jong then Strootman in Jan.

Agree0 Disagree1

On his way to Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why would you suggest he's on his way to Chelsea, redseven? Haven't seen anything to indicate that. Just because there's a bid, does not in the slightest mean it will be accepted.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just don't see him going to Chelsea. Chelsea would not work so hard to comply with FFP and then throw it away by signing pogba. Only way it would happen is if they sold Ramires and Oscar. Again not sure that is going to happen this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love this or vidal. with there players why do Chelsea need him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba will not be back any time soon. Most of us are hoping against hope for Vidal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I had a dream last night where I was hanging in a flat with Giggs, Gary Neville, Scholes. and Pogba. Our legends eluded to Pogba making his way back, and Pogba confirmed it!

I am in the know (ITK) - he is on his way back!

Vidal is the one most likely to leave Juventus, and I really hope he joins United. The would be a double positive not only would we be getting a quality player, but we would also be scuppering any hope that Chelsea have of signing Pogba as Juventus won't sell both.

RTE Ireland were broadcasting Holland v Mexico and commentator emphasised United had agreed a fee of 8 million for Dutch Centre half de Vrij.

Mungan, they're just repeating what they hear on the grape vine. Which is then spewed back into the primordial rumor mill. A vicious echo chamber.

Yeah more than likely dude

This posting is irritating, but also what I love about this site. I love the quick dispatching of information, followed with a pleasant, 'Thank's everyone', as if the poster has just minutes before he hops onto the next private jet. Clearly a 15 year old in his bedroom in Harrogate.

Has he landed yet? Which way was he going?
