SAF is taking the players to Scotland for a few days for a break. They will still train of course but they will no doubt do other activities such as golf. Sounds like a good move where hopefully the players will come back more refreshed and relaxed!

SAF has said that he would still like to buy sneijder in the summer for around £25m

Marcus-Roth

Believable3 Unbelievable33

When and where did u hear this? Absolute rubbish in my opinion, hes injured more than he plays now

Agree0 Disagree0

Not buying Sneijder was the best thing we have ever done. He is not a Man Utd quality!

Agree0 Disagree0

1) Lets not start this again,
2) He is undoubtedly united quality, but his personality, fees etc aren't, thats why not buying him was a good idea

Jaxer

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you say Sneijder is not United quality! just out of curiosity who do you think is ?

eds wasnt the first match played at san siro between milan and barca?
then why were barca in their home kit and milan wearing the white kit and not the traditional kit? is this unusual?

Rudi {Ed007's Note - I am not 100% sure, some people are saying as the present champions Barca get to wear their home strips and a few people are saying it is a superstition thing with Milan, they beat Barca 4-0 in the 1994 final wearing white. I might be miles out with these theories...........}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I'd suggest it's to do with clashing kits.... easiest for Milan to play in white...

whistler

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt that happen between united and barca in 1999?

Agree0 Disagree0

Commentator on the game said it was because of the superstition

Agree0 Disagree0

'whistler', don't think it could be a clash of colours, after all Milans red and black stipped kit would look a lot different to Barcelona's greeny/blue away kit! I could settle for ed007's idea of Milan beating Barca 4-0 in 1994, the Italian's are funny like that ;)

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad someones posted this, was wondering that myself?.... andyred

Agree0 Disagree0

They did the same against Liverpool in the CL final even though they got drawn as the home team... superstition indeed

=v1=

Agree0 Disagree0

If there is a clash in kit, the home team are obliged to change kit

Guys on wings we have Valencia and Young on the right and then Nani and Giggs in the left, why not replace Giggs with Iker Munaini and not pressure him with games in games out but we call him to the show when we are injury hit....,do so for Scholes also replacing him with Michu/Montlovio/Hamsik/Witsel and then bring in a defensive mid in the form of Javier Martinez/Yann M'Villa,,,,then bring in a left back in the form of Bastos/Cissokho/Baines and lastly a Berba replacement like Hunteläar/Dimao/ adding to Nathaniel Clyne who is practically ours.......

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Am I entirely wrong in thinking that Witsel 'was' a rightback, and has since converted to a defensive minded midfielder (I suppose a bit like Gareth Barry but obviously from the left). Is there a reason why everyone is sure that he is now a playmaking maestro? I've watched him quite a bit this year, he's a fair player but I'd never label him with the title 'scholes-esque'. Am I missing something?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure cleverley was a left back once upon a time as well

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes you are entirely wrong in thinking that he was a right back at any stage in his career. he occasionally plays at right wing, but valencia is one of few players who can do a better than mediocre job in both positions

Agree0 Disagree0

You go and tell Giggs and Scholes the clubs two longest serving players that they will be like youth team players again and only play to cover injuries i quite agree we need younger blood in the team but there is no way those two would settle for that and do you really think SAF would do that to them after all these years because i don't

a couple of websites reporting that barca have opened negotiations with river plate over ocampos........this would be really bad news for other clubs.this guy looks the real deal.
great pace, strength, good header, can easily go past atleast a couple of players and he is everything that united are looking for in a winger at this moment.would be a fantastic signing for us.him for around 20 million pounds and add kevin strootman for another 15 million pounds would do the deal or us.i would be really happy with that.just an opinion, what do u people think?

Anybody know where the away fans are moving to and why at OT?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

The club wants to move away fans to the 3rd tier of the North Stand. There are a few reasons for it. They claim that away numbers have declined in recent years and that, due to segregation, the current away area means that there are hundreds of seats going unused that could go to United fans. Of course, it is mainly about revenue but the conspiracy theorists are out to claim it is an attempt to "silence" the away fans by putting them so far away. This will be done firstly when Aston Villa visit OT in April and if the trial works then it could become permanent for next season.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

If the council give the go ahead, there will be a trial in the match against Villa where the away fans will move to the third tier in the North/SAF stand. There will then be an offer to those who want to sing and create some noise to move to the corner between the East and the South stand; where the previous away fans were.

The motive behind this is to create a better atmosphere at OT. Supposedly the area where the current away fans are has better acoustics and hence if noisy home fans are moved there, OT will also become noisier.

Rudderpost

Agree0 Disagree0

They are being moved to the top tier of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand where they can't be seen or heard.
United are then going to create a singing section in the South East quadrant, which has better acoustics than the rest of the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

Should of been done years ago its a long walk up to tier 3 hope the away fans enjoy what we have to do at places like newcastle.plus the glazers will more than likely get more from our own fans for better quality seating and views

Does anybody know anything about either Kevin Mirallas or Giannis Fetfazidis, two of Olympiacos' young stars who look the part. Ed's, or anybody else know anything about them?

MPez

Believable4 Unbelievable3

I remember Mirallas from when he was at Lille. Looked a real prospect at the time but IMO made the wrong move in staying in France when he left. He seems to have rediscovered his best form in Greece though. Question is, as always, could he transfer that to the EPL or would it be too great a step up?

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I followed kevin mirallas at lille too, useful player, probably premier league ready due to the physical nature of ligue1 but really not utd quality

Agree0 Disagree0

They are great on fifa pace wise, not that it rly counts but hey!

Just seen that Barcelona have lodged a complaint to UEFA regarding the state of the pitch at the San Siro, they may play some excellent football but i do not have a lot of respect for them, they are little girls that tend to whine and dive when things dont go there way, they have now become so sure of themselves that they think they will wipe the floor with any one in their way and when they dont you see their sly natured and "ill mannered" side. When Arsenal played there on what was a terrible pitch and what i think was pre planned, did they launch a complaint afterwards? to my knowledge they did not even though they had a perfectly good reason, i truly hope Milan stuff them in the return leg and knock them of their pampered perch, ill end this rant on a positive note! What a beautiful past few days it has been, the weather has given even Pool fans a reason to smile, bless their little cotton socks they have needed it ;)

JWalk

Believable23 Unbelievable2

Yes,Lets hope AC wipe them out at their home..

A last minute equaliser will be far more painful! Then Milan go through on the away goals rule, far more annoying!

"It is true that in 2010 I had offers from some top European clubs. This included Inter. But the decision to go to Real was absolutely right. It's the best club in the world, and I would like to end my career here," Ozil told Sport-Bild.
might not be moving any time soon

You could tell after him getting the no.10 shirt that he was planning his long term future there! Would have cost a fair amount buying him from Real anyway!

What are everyones opinions on Jack Rodwell would seriously like to know ED and sydney would like your views to please i feel we should sign him then put him back on loan at Everton till January and then bring him into the team slowly can play CM and CB views please

MUFC4LYF {Ed007's Note - I never really thought he was good enough for Utd and I think he has hit a wall in his development lately.}

Believable6 Unbelievable9

I was afraid you would say something like that ED who would you suggest would be a good replacement for Scholes Giggs and Owen/Berbatov {Ed007's Note - You must be new here lol. I think I am banned from talking about MFs :-) I would love to see Higuain brought in to play up front but I can't see it happening.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Higuain would be an excellent buy ED but i can't see it happening either but we definately need a striker if we are to rid ourselves of Berba/Owen and possibly Macheda returning to Italy would love to see Huntelar if im totally honest think he could be good for us
MUFC4LYF {Ed007's Note - I like Huntelaar as well. A bit of topic but I was watching Marseille v Bayern late last night, I still wish we had managed to get Robben years ago. I always liked him as a player, I didn't realise he was still only 28 either.}

Agree0 Disagree0

In case you are new - Ed007 rates C*****e A**m very highly!

Gar {Ed007's Note - That's a blockable offence Gar!!! Tread carefully :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell's injuries are a real worry and his qualities dont seem strong enough to outweigh those concerns IMO

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

To help ed007 out - we should get some young chap from Wigan!
:)

Mike {Ed007's Note - And has the same hair colour as Scholes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It felt wrong even typing it to be honest!

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

Never rated Rodwell. He's too injury prone considering the stage of his career he's at, and seems another jack-of-all-trades English player who'd cost an arm and a leg. Plus, I see nothing in him that we don't already have - he'd just be a number, who could cover solidly but not brilliantly in a few area.s

If that's what we want, there are better and cheaper options available abroad.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree0

James McCarthy!! Surely not Ed?! {Ed007's Note - He's a brilliant young player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell not good enough very injury prone and looks to have gone backwards
johndenton

Good to hear Bryan Robson saying the manager is looking to bring in 3-4 players this summer. He also believes that midfield will be looked at as the manager will want more competition in there. Also good to hear him say that defensively Evra has cost us a few times this season. At least we know the manager is seeing this like the majority of us.

Sydney!

Believable17 Unbelievable0

Where's this story from Syndey?

rpc

Agree0 Disagree0

Where have u seen this. Any links for this.

MUFC 88

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder who those 3 -4 players will be

1 CM - - - - Martinez
1 AM - - - - Hazard/ ? /
1 Striker - - - Higuaín
1 RB - - - Clyne
i ll add the 5th ------

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as i love reading your views sydney, and your spot on in nearly all your views. But is that the same Bryan Robson who was made a fool out of on a documentary not so long ago? That said he could get players to sign for a team when he clearly coud'nt. Dont think Fergie was happy with that so how would Robson have any information on who Uited are going to sign?

Agree0 Disagree0

SAF never claimed to be unhappy with Robson. If that were the case then Robbo wouldnt be a United ambassador.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Robson and SAF are very close, Robbo is the club's ambassador. He is at OT and Carrington nearly as often as the manager.

fergie said at press con this morning same squad for monday as fulham...

does this mean NO pogba??

:(

hope not...

oxred

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Obviously if he said same squad then theres no pogba

Agree0 Disagree0

He was in the squad for Fulham...

rpc

Agree0 Disagree0

Squad and the 18 who play are different things. Surely we should be concentrating on making sure we win the game, Pogba won't be starting anyway, so not sure why this is the main point.

The good news is no new injuries!

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

He was in the squad that travelled but just wasn't named on the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think oxred was making a valid point, I hope Pogba gets in the match day squad for Monday and if we're 2 or more goals up that he get's a chance to come on

Obviously until we get to that position theres no point worrying about it too much

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Ya he was in the 18 man squad but i think didnt make the bench as i think they were short players for a reserve game against everton?

Fergie said to be considering offer for Sigurdson currently on loan at Swansea. He was admirer of him before when at Reading but very impressed with his abilities im prem end of this season.

Believable13 Unbelievable10

Great player.i would nt be surprised if SAF was having a look at him.he is having a great season and has done well with reading previously.Loads will disagree with this just because he is togging out for swansea at the mo and not the barcas, reals and bayerns of this world.would make a great squad player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit of a contradiction there 'no name'. Gone from great player to great squad player in three lines! Last thing we need is another squad player - we need two or three quality first choice players who the squad can be built around.

IrishRed

Agree0 Disagree0

We have been watching him for years so do not rule it out. He is very versatile and we do need one or two squad players.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like him as a squad player, his ability to grab goals from the centre of midfield would be a fantastic asset we've been missing for a while. I've also missed having a good Scandinavian player in our team, their talent factory shut down for a bit hasn't it. A bit of a resurgence with Eriksen, Daehli, Guidetti, etc. in recent times though.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

I rate Sigurdson highly but i dont think he is united quality, i think the first team is a priority over the squad at the minute, we have enough good squad players

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Sigardson should stay in Wales, or Scotland, or France or anywhere buy OT. He looks good when playing with ordinary players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Possible Ins : Clyne(rb),, Cissoko(lb),, Martinez/Witsel(dm),, Hazard(cm),, Huntelaar(striker) Possible Outs : Berbatov,Macheda,Scholes(retirement),Carrick(could be a surprise),

Believable5 Unbelievable14

Hazard is NOT a Cm

Agree0 Disagree0

He can play on the left/right and centre! Dont limit ur thinking!

Agree0 Disagree0

Axel witsel isn t a defensive midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eriksen should be on that list

Agree0 Disagree0

Scholes looking to play on next season realised what he's missing probably

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard plays left/right and the centre role he plays is in behind strikers as Am not Cm

Agree0 Disagree0

Axel witsel is like a box to box style mid that will get stuck in.he would be a good signing i think.
