I feel awful for Anderson. Last year, first half he played well then got hit by injuries. He plays well but got hit by a hamstring injury. I still say he has United quality and should stay but it's another reason we need a midfielder. Also, I was wondering maybe starting Jones more in the defensive midfield role. Thoughts?

Believable16 Unbelievable2

I think that the Man United defence has been shocking this season on as for carrick and fletcher there are about as useful as a cock flavoured lolly pop fergie has been good for Man United over the years but he us past it now and he should sign centre mids and get rid off dead wood and buy baines from Everton coz evra is crap he runs up the pitch with the ball lose it then walk back then blames every1 else and he is vice captain behave fergie should go at end off the season coz guardiola said he would love to next manager so bring on barca style off play!! {Ed007's Note - Give your head a shake, that is exactly the problem with Guardiola taking over a team. Every idiot that follows them will expect their team to play like Barca right away. The fact is Mourinho had his number and Pep knew it. We'll see how successful he is in his next job. There are far more qualified for the Utd job than him.}

Agree2 Disagree2

Great against less technical teams in that position but until he gets comfortable with that role, he'll suffer big time in big games.

Ozwald

If he looked after himself he wouldn't get all these injuries

martin ferguson at the barc bibao match reports his looking at llorente but could it be muniain

Believable2 Unbelievable15

De marcos IMO.

Yer looks like it was oscar

Agree1 Disagree0

It's most likely De Marcos, we've looked at him before, but where put off by his price, £25m, but with Bilbao struggling this year, and De Marcos not cup tied, there is probably a good chance of us going in with a lower bid in January. We'll just have to wait and see.

RedDub

JK92 - I agree, central midfield is by far our weakest area. We need a defensive minded midfielder and an attacking one. I would like Wanyama and Gotze/Eriksen, but would settle for Oscar de Marcos and Erikksen.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

It is far more likely to be Suseata or De Marcos. It will not be Muniain when we have Kagawa.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

It certainly wasnt Iker Munian when he wasnt even in squad. Reports since have claimed it was De Marcos, looks like a solid player so hopefully something materialises

Congratulations to Wayne Rooney who is now The 8 highest goalscorer in The Premier league with 148 goals to his name, Just 112 off Shearer's record ;)

Believable23 Unbelievable0

Plus Wayne has 71 assists, including 7 this season. Only Giggsy with 126 assists has more than Wayne

And some people on here question his worth, anybody calling for him to be sold are mad

I honestly can not believe what I read on this site sometimes. How can anyone question whether it is worth signing Lewandowski for less than £20 million it is a steal. All the people saying he isnt worth it or we have good enough strikers or better, how tinted are your glasses? Lewandowski is world class and would walk in to our team imo. I would sell Hernandez or Welbeck to fit him in to the team in a heartbeat. In fact I would sell Rooney and sign Lewandowski, Rodriguez, Baines and Cabaye.

Believable15 Unbelievable38

Why is everyone so keen to get rid of Rooney. He is integral for us our team doesn't function without him as shown when he was injured.

Dan

Agree4 Disagree1

I agree Dan. What planet are you on wanting to sell Rooney? Did you not watch the Norwich game? Good grief! Who would you suggest we get to run up and down the park, create assists, raise the tempo and get goals. Perhaps given your level of football insight we should sign David Beckham? Or maybe convince Keane to come out of retirement? Unreal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sell Rooney? Why?

snakey

Agree1 Disagree0

Why do people want to sell rooney or any of our best players
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha! Think you're the one with the tinted glasses mate! Sell Rooney? Anyone who says that needs a slap.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would we sell rooney, he is the driving force behind the team and without him we would play boring unattractive football

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling Rooney is like selling the heart beat of the team. Nearly 150 goals and 70 assists and knobs want to sell him. I'd sell Chicarito, Young, Cleverley, Macheda and other bit part players. Not sure I'd buy another striker, we need a couple of midfielders, a left back more than anything.Wanyama,Eriksen and Willems would do nicely
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell Hernandez?? What is your problem? The kid loves playing for United and his stats speak for themselves...better than Lewandowski's!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the comments on Lewandowski, but sell Rooney? Come on mate, know when to stop talking!

Agree0 Disagree0

No Name

Hernandez is not better than Lewandowski and they are completely different players.

Lewandowski is more like Rudd but with pace.

Anderson could be rushed back for man city game,

Second half without him midfeild did nothing !

Sure injury may look worst than it was!

Hope for anderson back

Big v

Believable19 Unbelievable14

I'm sure he could be given pain injections, but that would mean he'd only be at 75% when we could just as easily play Rooney in that position if Valencia is back, plus he'd be out for longer afterwards. If we can get him back in time for the cluster of Xmas games it'll be fine.

MattL

Agree2 Disagree0

You never know, Ando might not be that serious anyway and SAF could just want city to expect him to be injured. If they are preparing to play against Scholes or Giggs it would be a massive surprise to have Ando in there....

Dan

Agree3 Disagree0

Lets put it this way, it wouldnt be the first time a player got "injured" before a big game then miraculously recovered. I dont think premier league managers are so naive to believe Fergie about these things but it keeps them guessing. I hope he is fit.

Snakey

Agree1 Disagree0

We're just getting our defenders back from injury, now our more creative players are getting crocked. Kagawa,Valancia, Nani,Anderson etc. It worries me that we have so many old and average midfielders -Giggs and Scholes are past it. Fletcher just doesn't look fully fit to me. Cleverley just isn't United standard. Against City we'll have to play Carrick, Jones and Rooney in midfield, with RVP, Wellbeck and Valencia if he's fit or Powell if he isn't, up front.Chico never seems to be very good when he starts,(with a couple of notable exceptions), so I'd have him on the bench, he's more potent coming on as a sub.

People are going on as though Rafael had the worst game ever. Granted it wasnt one of his best, but he wasnt taken off due to his performance.

It was pretty obvious that he was taken off to eliminate any risk of him being sent off ahead of the City game next week.

Add to this the fact we were struggling against them aerially, it was the obvious decision to replace him with Smalling!

He'll be straight back in the team against City.

Believable43 Unbelievable4

IMO having two short full backs is a weakness especially for crosses and set pieces.

Karni

Agree2 Disagree0

To the original post, anyone who didn't realise this straight away is a fool lol! Since when does SAF sub anyone prematurely just for a bad performance? There is always a strong reason behind it.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

He was taken off because of the aeriel threat from corners and free kicks that we couldn't deal with. That's why Smalling was brought on because of his size and heading ability.

Just seen what was on motd so far not had a chance to catch the full 90 yet but outwith 'maybe' coming and shouting for the ball Evans cleared and the attempted catch he spilled (didn't lead to a goal) what was Linders supposed to do?

Christ anyone away to fault him for the corners can lay the blame squarely at Evra's feet! The job of the man in front of the keeper is to block the attacker not stand stock still whilst remaining in the way of the keeper ffs. He f**king did Roberts job for him. He stands both times without trying to move Roberts out the way and so Linders if he tried to come out has to push 2 out the way (as he tried on one corner) by that time the balls on the boys head and in (Evans covering shadows for the first) the second one same move with no movement from mad pat and by the time Linders looks up its on the boys head.

The first goal is nothing to do with the keeper. Anyone that's played football at any level knows that a nick off a player at that short a distance you cannot react in time, although according to the motd commentator he should have done better! Boll**ks! He had no chance.

I think had DDG been in goal the exact same thing would have happened as there was no chance in hell he could move pat and Roberts from in front of him AND travel 7-8 yards to get the ball.

On the point someone said why are carrick and fletch on the same team!? Well for me that's the most positive I have seen carrick play in years! Far more confident knowing he had fletch to cover him and so he had one of his far more productive games. No doubt it was a try out before city but I'm hoping it's the same bar injury of coursec

Jono

Believable5 Unbelievable40

Lindergard looked like crap today, he was shaky and bobbling routine shots. He's nothing more than a number 2 keeper. DDG is a world class shot stopper and makes amazing reflex saves and will get better with time

Agree0 Disagree0

There is something wrong with the training of our goalkeepers are being instructed.......why was evra marking Roberts.........the goalkeeper is supposed to control his 6 yard area.....lindegard should concentrate on the ball rather than getting caught out pushing and getting stuck behind players........the 2 full backs should be on each post.....the centre halves should be defending the centre of the area and each man should mark a man.......and attack the ball........it's a simple process!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

No consistency in team selections = no consistency in players or team performance.Same for two years now. Has Fergie lost the plot? You can say greatest manager ever and only lost the title on goal difference etc etc,but that doesn't mean he's the greatest manager at the moment or he cost us the title with team selections ie Park and Nani starting at the Etihad at the end of the season. Some of his decisions get more and more baffling.

Agree1 Disagree0

Dont think you can blame the keeper for any of the goals. Jonny evans is to blame for at least two if the goals. The first one was a poor header straight to the reading player then he was missing for the third on as his man easily got away from him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree. Lindegaard had a nightmare. Evans always seems to be one that picks up all the flak! The jury is also out on De Gea. If we are to win the league Sir Alex needs to buy an experienced keeper in January. Its the same scenario as when 'The Great Dane' retired. As mentioned in one of the earlier replies questions need to be asked of the goalkeeping coaches. An experienced and proven goalie is the answer!

Agree0 Disagree1

Evans is picking up the flack cause it was his fault, how can you blame anyone else? look at the first goal was is lindegaard who headed the ball straight to a reading player then jumped on the floor out of his way?? was it also lindegaard who completely switched off and lost his marker for the third? no both mistakes by none other then jonny evans

Agree0 Disagree0

Lindegaard is a number 2 keeper at best he was at fault for the second and third goals he should of told evra to get out of the box as it would of been given as a foul if roberts impeeded but in all fairness evans is at fault aswell truly awful defending as usual fergie needs to get rid as his mistakes are just costing goals time and time again and we cant keep getting away with it
