RE: N'Zogbia - there is some logic to it. .

1. He wants out and therefore Wigan are probably happy for him to go;
2. Whelan loves United and Fergie, so there will be preferential treatment;
3. He's a good player, capable of special moments - a more than decent squad player for a top 4 team;
4. He's only 24, but he's made about 200 appearances in England;
5. United are currently struggling on the left. Park in Asia, Giggs unable to play every week and maybe retiring in the summer, Obertan/Bebe look incapable at present of stepping up;
6. No change in league or residence for the player and he's not cuptied for the cup competitions;
7. Fergie was at the DW on Sunday - we all assumed merely to watch Cleverley - but maybe there was more.
8. Macheda possibly going the other way?

What do you reckon? I'd love to see United aiming higher than this, but if he's being purchased merely to bolster the squad, I think it makes sense. There's no other obvious left-sided signings out there. I'm dubious, but it's possible.

SXF has stated that no new players in Jan , he should have a massive clearout to make way for 1 or 2 new faces and get them off the wage bill.Gibson, obertan, carriagh, owen and brown take the first offer and run, nevell Van der sar, hargreves to retire.try and buy Rodwell, shawcross, Cahil, henderson all good young english players.Forget about the superstar s we havent the money to buy them.We looked secound best for long periods against west brom no midfield no ball winner great position in the league lets not throw it away now for the lack of decent players.One last thing in my opinion Wayne Rooney would be the ideal replacement for for Paul Scholls

Just a couple of things.

Firstly, Ed, you mention Macheda could be used to go on loan to Everton in a part exchange for Rodwell. Do you think this would happen in Jan then? Everton are really struggling with goals so Macheda and money would be useful for them.

Also, this rumour about N'Zogbia is interesting and also one that is circulating (at least a bit) on twitter. I personally hope it's not true and couldn't really see it happening, but what do you think Ed?

Rudderpost {ed's note - I think the Macheda one is possible, though Everton are in disarray at the moment so it is difficult to find out anything. I very much doubt the N'Zogbia rumours, but then Valencia was a similar sort of player.}

Tonight United are negotiating a deal for the transfer of Charles N'Zogbia. Currently the total fee is believed to be in the region of 8, 75m. This will consist of 6.75m up front, with a further 2m in installments depending on appearances and trophys won over next 2years. It is considered he is an attractive buy as he has experience of EPL and qualifies for Champs League. SAF also likes the fact that he is used to the north west climate and is a tricky winger with a bit of devilment in him.

His salary aspirations have been surpressed as a consequence of his delight to play for United.

There is little confidence at this time of Obertan and Bebe making a real impact as both have major technical deficiencies for them not to make it at the very highest level, although United will keep trying.

Tony Valencia is physically due to return begining of March if all goes well, but United are mindful over the time it will take for him to recover from the psychological effects of recovering from such a bad injury. They do not expect him to fully contribute until next season.

Tom Cleverley will be allowed to stay at Wigan for the rest of the season and Kiko Macheda will also join him at Wigan (both part of the N'Zogbia deal). United will also offer Wigan first option for an on-loan United youngster next year if the are not relegated.

SAF/Gill like Dave Whelan and Martinez and United believe they have a good deal with N'Zogbia.

United are also closely monitoring the progress of Owen Coyle at Bolton. SAF is very impressed by Bolton's playing style and his man management.

SAF was gutted not to attract Ozil last summer.

Lastly, United consider Arsenal's 3rd choice goalkeeper (who's name escapes me but played against us at OT) is going to be one of the best in europe in 2/3 years for what its worth.

@Red Magic, regarding your rumour. It maybe true, we will find out soon enough, so I am not saying your wrong.
But tell me this, why would wigan sell their best player when they are currently in a relegation battle? It would be a mad decision by their board to loose such an asset in return for a young striker who has potential but not yet proven.

Secondly, N'Zogbia has a clear attitude problem. Something SAF has no time for.

A transfer I just cannot see happening, but who knows.

Sydney! {ed's note - he will if he can get them guaranteed first team football, that is the only thing that has stopped more going out. But the good performances will make it easier to get players first team chances.}

@I have heard that Fergie has made the Macheda loan a certainty but only if the borrowing club can guarantee him regular first team football, Fergie wants to install a clause in the loan contract that he must play in a percentage of the games. After all its games Kiko needs, there's no point in him going to Villa and sitting on Villa's bench, he could sit on our bench.

I also know that Fergie wants him to stay in England, i would say Villa, Wigan & Everton are the top candidates. All need strikers. What do you think Ed?

Sydney! {ed's note - I think Everton in part-ex for Rodwell looks a likely bet myself.}

But my argument ed is they still haven't offered Alcantara the contract, why do you think that is the case?onto good news, Sanchez has come out and said he prefers a move to the EPL, and esp to United.he says there's a lot of running, just like him.he then gives 2 excuses for not making a move now 1."i still have to improve, as a player and as a person" 2."my contract with Udinese, which ends in 2015, so another season with Udinese should not be a problem".i think United made contact with him and Udinese when they heard Inter were in for him and promised him a move in the summer.he then chose United.ed? {ed's note - I agree with that, I think he has been told to wait and you will sign him.}

@If Thiago is quality til the end of the season could Barcelona offer Thiago plus money? I know they don't need to if they have Thiago but he is well loved by the Barca players isn't he?

Sydney! {ed's note - I think that Pep is not as keen on his signing as the players are and that is why the club offered less than he was worth. I am not convinced he will join under Guardiola.}

But why haven't Barcelona offered Alcantara a contract extension yet?im not really convinced he will be at Barca in February ed and sydney! because recently, Barca have had their best youth players in a few first team games and then release them, even if they do perform.e.g.dos santos and gael Assulin.maybe, just maybe we could have him if there's no deal at Barca for him.my reason is 1.united and arsenal have made contact with his father already2.united would have the edge because he wants to move with his brother as well, great two free signings who enhance our plan, building for the future!3.united are the team with most problems in midfield and he would face massive competition at arsenal!ed?m.r Bk {ed's note - Dos Santos and Assulin were released because of their off-field problems and attitudes, nothing to do with performances on the pitch. I think it is clear to see that Dos Santos has not made the most of his ability and they were right to get rid.}

Sydney! {ed's note - I would be extremely surprised if he ended up at Madrid, he is a Basque after all. It is akin to treason for a Basque to join Madrid, either Madrid side in fact.}

@Do you think this is likely to be his father (agent) trying to force a Barca move? Or just the newspapers talking junk again? Would Cesc consider Inter? Barca would still take Cesc but i think they will only pay 20-25m for him now. Well they were only willing to pay 29m in the summer weren't they?

Could he be at Arsenal for a while?

Watching the Barcelona vs Levante game and i have to say, Thiago Alcantara is a master class.he is taking away the midfield from Xavi since he came on, and a superb dribbler.his lob passes are excellent, a bit better than Cleverly! {ed's note - he is the reason they cooled their interest in Fabregas, he might end up being the reason they don't sign him after all.}

@I agree Thiago was never leaving and he has forced Barca's hand to play him. Ed do you think its possible that Cesc will end up at Real Madrid if Barcelona make it clear that he is no longer on their cards? He loves Arsenal but i am not sure he loves the physical side of the Premiership anymore. Could he be tempted by Jose's offer?

What do you think Ed?

Manchester United will make their move for Sanchez in June/July unless Inter Milan try to snap him up before hand. It is clear that SAF is an admirer, last year he stated that Sanchez would follow in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps and has been carefully watching his situation.

As for who he will join, either Inter or United? It will be United. His father is a United fan, he is a fan himself (shown on his twitter account), and the relationship between the club and his country of birth has got strong, and finally he has recently come out and said that he is a fan of English football because of the pace it is played at.

Add all the facts together and you have a Manchester United player.

As the manager has already stated, there are to be no incoming transfers in the current window, however scouts have been instructed to look at higher profile players for the June window as there will be very few players worldwide out of Uniteds financial reach by this time. @Red Man

You mention aiming high, well what about essien? Just the kind of player we need i think. And the way chelsea are playing there might just be a slight chance that they do not qualify for the CL! Regardless that, he is still more likely to join than cesc and much better in games in that really matter.

REDFAITH

Hi REDFAITH

Essien is a quality powerful player but is 28 which works against him. Chelsea probably wouldn't sell and I think he not long ago signed a new contract. We had our chance a few years ago. I actually think we need a creative player which is why I suggested Cesc. I am mulling over whether Nasri could be an option.

Seen a load of stuff on here about Kaka , can't see it, loan perhaps but we are not going to spend big money on someone of his age. There were signs he was fading a bit when he was injured.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to send Federico Macheda out on loan - if the right club comes calling.

Ferguson feels the Italian striker needs to keep playing regularly having played an increasing role for United's first team this term.

The manager now has Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez back in contention, which has limited Macheda's first-team chances, so he is willing to let the 19-year-old leave on a short-term deal.

Aston Villa, Wigan and West Brom are reportedly interested along with Serie A side Roma and city rivals Lazio, where Macheda started out, but Ferguson insists it must be the right club.

"He has to play, " he said. "If a club comes and convinces the player and me that he is going to play then they will be the ones we're thinking about.

Some contact

"He's thinking himself about Italy but I would hope it would be the Premier League. He would go into the Italian league quite easily.

"So far only one club has phoned, but I'm sure there will be more in the next few days."

Meanwhile, Ferguson has admitted he thought he was about to be sacked in 2006 after three years without winning the Premier League title.

Some felt Ferguson had lost his touch as United went their longest period without winning the league since their first title under the Scottish boss in 1993.

But United kept faith with Ferguson, who has been in charge at Old Trafford since 1986 and turned 69 on New Year's Eve, and he responded by moulding another title-winning side, claiming three titles in a row from 2007-09.

He added: "Three or four years ago my shelf life was up. I was out of the door." (SKY SPORTS)

Just a thought:
Wigan are desperate to keep Cleverley, and are in need of a player to support Rodellaga up front. They also have a player who is desperate to leave.
What if we used our major bargaining power to offer Wigan Cleverley for the rest of the season, plus Macheda to strike a deal for Charles N'Zogbia?
This would give Wigan some funds for 1 or 2 Jan transfers, off load a want away player, and give them two young, and hungrey players to fight relegation.
For United, it gives Macheda EPL experience rather than Italy, and gives us options with a creative wide midfield with a bit of flare we are sorely lacking. (If you saw the WBA game you will know what I mean as Ferguson/Obertan are not the answer in Nani's absence!)
Seems a pragmatic solution for both clubs. .your thoughts!

Hi, I'm Raul and have just returned from Florida where Utd are the hot topic on lots of channels linked with Qatar Royal family takeover. I have read some older posts on here mentioning it but am surprised that its not in the Press and on Tv here as its all over in America. According to American Press its a done deal and will be announced any day. I have no sources at all but am just bringing you up to date with broadcasts over there that I saw. The bits on the press also went on to explain how Qatar Holdings are looking forward to further expansion of Utd and its brand in Asia and South America which I believe South America is an area we are just venturing into. Again like I said this is from no source just what I saw when I was over there.

Directed to the MUFC Ed:

I am wondering whether you view the Daily Star (Newspaper) as a reliable source?

This is the first paper rumour I have acted on:
There is a very strong rumour about Kaka in a LOAN deal to United after he has just recovered from Ankle Surgery. It is to be a loan deal with the option to buy for £50m at the end of the season. It seems that Chelsea and Inter were the two clubs interested in Kaka but MUFC have joined that pack. Madrid Manager Jose Mourinho has complete backing by Sporting Director (Jorge Valdano) in this decision. It seems Mourinho would not send Kaka to Chelsea or Inter as of foul relationships with the Owners Reapectively, but would instead prefer to send him to Manchester United who are coached by SAF - who Mourinho claimed to be his "Best friend in Football".

So Ed do you believe this could be true.

MPez

{Editor's Note: Kaka has had a tough time because of the transfer not really working out and then the injury. If I were Kaka, I would look to the safety of a return to Italy to rebuild the equilibrium rather than risk the backlash of failed expectations in England. But who am I to say. Kaka.}
