Interesting line coming out of France as L'Equipe claim Samir Nasri has rejected Arsenal's contract offer. Manchester United appear to be in pole position.

Sydney!

Believable41 Unbelievable11

I saw this too really hope we get Nasri, Sydney do you think we will get him ? If so will it be soon or turn into a transfer saga like Sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

As long as Evra has said the right things and he does decide to leave, I would say we are in there with a decent chance.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon he will sign and i reckon o'shea will end up at Arsenal.

TRUMORS

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not sure if Wenger really does want O'Shea, but they could do worse than having a player of his versatility at their club. If Squillaci cost £3.5m, then O'Shea should be worth £6m. They have struggled with their defense, having him amongst the squad will certainly improve Arsenal. Shame O'Shea isn't French, he would pay £12m for him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

"Interesting line coming out of France" oooohhhhh, very sports journo speak

Agree0 Disagree0

With van der sar, neville and scholes retiring, fergie will defo want to hang on to what senior players he has left.. o'shea will not be leaving. giggs, ferdinand, carrick, owen, o'shea, evra and vidic are key to bringing on the younger lads.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger is going to give it a try, but i feel Nasri has made up his mind and its not good news for Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I'd like him at the clubs he is a greedy prunk. Most people don't earn 100k a year let alone a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you have a clue about football? How many players are on 100k+? If SAF wants him then I trust his judgement

As I said a week or so ago we have got the room ready for a Press conference for Tuesday 5th was at 11.30 now moved to the afternoon. So must be something going on.

Believable29 Unbelievable12

Probably to welcome Jones and Young most of the first team return on Monday the 4th so good time to meet their new team mates
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking the same thing. Jones and Young take pics with SAF and jerseys? Idk. Intro 2 the club i guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps SAF will unveil the three signings?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah i'd imagine the unveiling. jones and young definitely and maybe de gea as well.

i know jones was on twitter saying he was looking forward to meeting everyone at pre season

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, probably unveiling Jones, young and de gea officially.

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg, let's get rid and get someone who doesn't slow down every counter attack

I personall think Man Utd will go for someone younger than Snjeider as the Glazers are keen on players who have a good re-sale value and with Berbatov being a prime example of how much money he has lost in value i think they would be loathe to invest in a player who would lose alot of his value in 3 years time.

As for Nasri, modric etc i think nasri is the more likely as Spurs don't need to sell as he signed a new contract wheres Nasri has a year left and if he wanted to sign for Man Utd he could dig his heels in and leave for free next summer. £20 million would be good money for him with a year left on his contract.

Can't see Wenger letting him for free next summer.

Believable34 Unbelievable8

Arsenal are a selling club but it has always been dependent on wenger deciding when to seell (overmars/ petit, pires, vieira and henry all good examples)

however wenger has been stung before by 2 french players who let their contracts run down and left on a bosman, (wiltord and flamini)

so i do feel we have a good chance, and i'd rather take him than the over valued sneijder or the scottish puskas charlie adam.

Nasri set to quit Arsenal on Monday.....Samir Nasri is flying to London for crisis talks on his Arsenal future and is ready to quit the club....Nasri will return to the capital this weekend from a holiday in Las Vegas and is due to meet Arsene Wenger on Monday.....the midfielder will make it clear he will not sign a new £90,000-a-week contract without also receiving some guarantees....France star Nasri fancies a move to Manchester United after becoming frustrated by Arsenal s failure to challenge for the Premier League title....soo good news for united fans Arsenal Star Samir Nasri to Quit On Monday: Man United to Make £25m Offer {Ed002's Note - So Nasri will be in breach of his contract, will not be being paid and will not be able to sign for anybody else. Sound like a plan.}

Believable27 Unbelievable9

Ed002 - Have you heard anything regarding this latest Nasri saga, is it true Chelsea have entered the race for him?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I don't know of anything other than rumour Syd.}

IMO Sneijder is not worth the money that we are all hearing, he is at his peak now and will be for a couple of seasons at most. Why pay £35 million (or whatever it is) and £200,000 for a player who may be past his peak by the end of next season. Personally I'd much rather see someone like Hazard, Willian, Pastore (expensive but he is only 22), Muller (very unlikely), Hamsik, Mata, Jovetic, Gotze, Ganso or even Dzagoev. All under 24 and all class acts that will only get better. IMO we should try to get Ganso/Gotze/Mata. All class and probably cheaper that the rest

Believable23 Unbelievable5

I thought players were at their peak at 28/29 if so he has more than 5 years

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Love to see gonso at ot brilliant reader of the game and his passes are outstanding imagine little pea getting that service from the midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder is 27 and is worth the money the way he played under moriniho (spelling) and he should have won the ballon'odr

Agree0 Disagree0

'Pardoe'

All players peak at different times, Sneijder peaked during the 2009/10 season, but last season he was very ordinary. I would say keepers and defenders usually peak at 28/29, if you look at attacking players like Joe Cole, Kaka, Malouda, Ronaldinho, Ballack, Owen, Robbie Keane, Defoe, Fabiano etc etc, their careers took a turn for the worst at 28/29. You can even argue that Essien at 28 isn't the player he was.

We cannot be sure all 27/28/29 year old's will be past their best, but are they worth an £80m+ gamble?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder (Fee £35m) + (wages £52m) = £87m over five years, Sneijder at 32 will have no sell on value.

Nasri (Fee £20m) + (wages £26m) = £46m over five years, Nasri at 29 will have sell on value.

It's simple maths that tell us that Sneijder is not even on SAF's radar.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Keepers actually reach their peak around the age of 33. The majority of goalkeepers play better in their 30s like Schmeichel, Van der Sar, Seaman, Oliver Kahn. Keepers usually peak in their 30s. Theoretically speaking a keeper at the age of 35/6 would be at his peak if not starting to decline apart from the exceptional few. It depends on how lithe they are too. Van der Sar is very agile as opposed to Schmeichel who wasn't as agile so he was still world class at the age of 40.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're not talking about keepers though we are talking about outfield players who generally peak between 27-29.

Agree0 Disagree0

Most attacking players peak between 23-26, can anyone name me a single attacking player that peaked at 27-29?

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - Henrik Larsson}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed007 - I would say he peaked in 1998/99, his second season at Celtic, he was 26 then.

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - His career was one big peak Sydney :-) Surely getting to the UEFA cup final in 2003 with a club like CFC was a bigger peak, or season 2000/01 when he scored 53 in 50 games throughout the season}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Ed, I didn't mean attacking players peak from 23 to 26, I said attacking players usually begin to peak between 23-26. I agree he is one of very few players that have kept their peak going for many years. Perhaps Giggs & Scholes are similar? Scholes peaked around 23 and kept to that level until he was 30.

Players like Messi, Ronaldo, Villa, Torres, Rooney etc etc etc all peaked between 23-26, it's anyone's guess how long they keep it up for.

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - I know what you meant Sydney, I was just half winding you up. I just wish we could find another Henke, although I wans't impressed when he went to Barca}

According to sky sports news samir nasri and arsenal have failed to reach an agreement for a new contract and arsenal will now consider selling him

Believable36 Unbelievable7

Which sky sports news are you watching i've had it on all morning and there as been no such report have even checked the website and nothing..i know its a rumour site but lets not start making stories up that can easily be seen not to be true..i would love to see nasri at old trafford but think your making stuff up just to pass your day along

Agree0 Disagree0

According to the mirror, nasri is flying yo london to tell wenger he wont sign a new contract and fansies a move to Manchester United

Agree0 Disagree0

It is on there. go to skysports transfer clockwatch. its according to reports in france

Samir Nasri will now want to join Chelsea because of their interest as Nasri has setteled in London which will mean Luka Modric will stay at Tottenham and Wesley Sneijder will make his long-awaited move to Man Utd. If you think i am right press believable and unbelievable if you disagree

Believable24 Unbelievable56

Hardly a rumour , adding two and two together and coming up with 4 isn't exactly groundbreaking.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is hardly any proof that Nasri wants to stay at London. Sneijder has been died out. Nasri wants a secure financial future following opportunities to win silverware.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would make sence to stay in Chelsea but I think he still could join united as he is guaranteed first team football as he is the type of player united need Chelsea have slot of options in midfield as it is... Don't want WS as he is getting that bit older united don't usually buy world class players we make them world class

Agree0 Disagree0

Its just as logical to think Nasri would want to get out of London and join a bigger club.

Agree0 Disagree0

'If you think i am right press believable and unbelievable if you disagree'.

Thanks for the tip. We were all struggling there for a minute :-)

Ed do you still think utd will bring a creative mid in? and if so any ideas who it could be? {Ed002's Note - I think one may come in but have no idea who.}

Believable13 Unbelievable7

I think it might be Nasri. Mirror footbal claims that he will hand in a transfer request once he's back from his holiday.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one has an inkling, its all pure guess work, AF may have someone else in mind no-one knows

So Nasri is currently in Las Vegas on his holidays til tomorrow? Was he is talks with City over there? Seems like SSN got the wrong end of the stick here.

It seems United are still very much in with a chance of signing him, he could still even sign a new contract with Arsenal.

Sydney!

Believable33 Unbelievable5

How did RAINFISHs sources say he was picked up at manchester airport by city reps then ??

Red Knight.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps it was Clichy that was picked up from Manchester Airport?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

So United have a chance of signing him (with others), or he could sign a contract at Arsenal. Looks like you've covered all eventualities there Sydney. Quite brilliant

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2011 07:40:12
can somebody please clarify for me exactly which CM we're signing? I've heard sanchez 44m, modric 32.5m, sneijder 35m and nasri 20m
Who is actually signing for us???

Believable17 Unbelievable11

Pointless question, nobody would know apart from fergie and gill so you'll just have to keep guessing

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody knows except Fergie and Gill who Utd will sign.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody knows but mite just be nasri cheaper and perfect for man u squad.. i hope it is sneijder tho

Agree0 Disagree0

Most probably not sanchez though as he seems to be too expensive for man utd

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all Sneijder is not just too expensive for United, he is too expensive for City & Chelsea too. Also SAF & Gill do not KNOW who they will sign, they only know who they will want to sign. There is a difference.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only lad out of that four we have a chance of getting is nasri, if we don't wait and see we ll get someone no one is expecting, and no I don't mean Charlie Adam

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Rooney will play midfield and we will buy another striker like Hernandez

I hear from a very very close friend inside OT that for the first time in a long time man utd will SELL to their rivals in D. Berbatov. Heard it here first remember my name as i only post FACTS. D.Berbatov will leave OT this summer and accept a 19 mil transfer offer from lpool and will be given the no. 19 shirt TORQS

Believable5 Unbelievable53

I hear he's going to Sunderland for a Brucie Bonus.
Him & Gyan would be a nice partnership.

Agree0 Disagree0

They don't need any other striker so i don't see it become true that speculation..

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres BS, and then theres real BS, and this is definitely the latter

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Liverpool need another striker? They recently purchased Carroll and Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lies. Liverpool owners work on the moneyball system for buying players based on stats and long term prospects. Neither of these are particularly good for berba.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought it may of bin obvious to all but clearly not. . . . my recent post was merely a dig at lpool with 19 titles. ie berbie signing for them for 19 mil and to be given the 19 shirt. Obviously no truth in this but apparently not clear to all . TORQS

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, should have posted it on the liverpool website, at least then they would have someone in their team who has at least had the experience of winning the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Does everybody want berbatov to leave??

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool hate berbatov he scored a hatrick against them last season and then 'that' penalty so that's like saying gerrad to united, plus leave off berbatov what more can he do to win over the superficial united fans? He was great last season an I personally hope he sees out his career at united

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said my friend, look at his stats joint top scorer last season and look at the amount of assists since he came, he brings something different to the team and I also hope he stays

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

Theturdz here lifelong lfc fan funny how you lot can take the piss remember this s**theads fergie won f*** all for you when KING KENNY was in charge first time round kenny just brushed him aside now hes back look at the panic on fergies face getting the players that are linked with lfc he has bought s**te for years excluding roony and chicarito.when the king shows interest in a player fergie s**ts himself and jumps in well your welcome to jones and young not the world beaters you need to try and take on barca cos thats what fergie said he needs to do and he aint got a hope in hell with that team i could name 10 players all first team members who are s**te and you lot know it

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha ya prob weren't even born when Liverpool last won a title what a knob you are, what bout other signings, ronaldo, van der sar, nani vidic etc.... Go back to sleep there

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldo and vidic were ready to come to liverpool but the frenchman was to slow to sign them fergie gets wind of this and swoops on them he only goes for the players we linked with the whiskey nosed **** wouldnt know talent if it hit him in the face look at rooney explodes on the scene all the pundits rave about him so fergie buys him simple as that.how many gems has fergie spotted chicarito thats all and that was on a scouts recommendation look at all the crap hes bought djemba djemba, oshea, carrick, owen, anderson, nani, berbaflop, carrol, fletcher, gibson, bebe, fabio, brown, 2nd sting the lot of them and theres more of them

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha yeah and messi was ready to join Liverpool academy till barca came calling I can't believe ya think ronaldo and vidic were ready to come to Liverpool, haha nani a flop? He had more assists last season than any Liverpool player had goals, sayin that I think he had more goals too, and as for the Rooney thing, fergie only bought him because everyone was raving bout him, I that not a good thing, didn't hear no raving bout HAndyCAP carroll tip on back to your Liverpool page there John Joe good luck and thanks

Bernard

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yeah and berbaFLOP scored a hatrick against yous last season did he not?like viduka for Leeds a few years ago gettin four ha sure he's a flop too, or maybe cause king kenny wasn't round, I'd say fergie will out last kenny again wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

Djemba djemba has a premier league medal and gerrard has none, giggys wife is divorcing him and getting half of everything, ya no what this means lads, SHE'LL have 6 more league medals than gerrard :)
